allow me to ask you one very simple question what is the biggest mistake that you've ever made in your life now you don't have to say it out loud but think about the time when you looked at what you did and said I can't believe I did something that stupid well some of you likely have done some big oopsies in the past and I'm willing to bet that none of you have done them on a rather large boat whether it's a cruise lineer a yacht a barge or something in between there are some captains who
have made gigantic mistakes which resulted in boats colliding with things that never should have happened so with that in mind here now are 20 of the biggest ship collisions and mistakes caught on camera number 20 the idol yacht now if you are rich enough to have a yacht you're definitely of the mindset that you need to get it out on the water as much as you can so that you can show it off to your friends and family and every one of the people you know who don't have a yacht let's be honest here rich
people like it when poor people get jealous of them however just because you're impatient doesn't mean that you get to break the laws of physics and nature such as with this super yacht called Idol in 2020 2 it was getting some refittings done out in Italy which is standard for Yachts like this over time and naturally after getting it completed the captain wanted to take it out on the water through a canal the only problem was that there was a bridge that he had to be mindful of and the good news is that if he
had waited for low tide he would have been able to pass right under it without any issues but the bad news is that rich fool was not patient and he tried to get under the bridge at high tide and the top of his yacht got smashed now for the record this was a $35 million yacht that he had just damaged after paying for refits and now he has to pay for the repair bill on this behold the power of karma the more sad news is that because of where the video ends nobody can tell just
how damaged it is but I'm willing to bet that the cost of the boat just went up by at least a couple $100,000 what's the lesson to be learned here you should just be patient and wait for things to be in the proper place however the real lesson is that when you get impatient bad things can and do happen and if it happens to a rich person with a yacht like this guy had he's going to get a lot of ridicule from everyone who sees the clip now it's time for the fancy topic have a
look at this picture and tell me what you think is happening with it yes I do know that a lot is going on but just give me the basics I clearly see that the ships in question are on fire and there are some people trying to escape the vessels in their lifeboats but the real question is what happened well it's a little tricky to answer if you believe the story that was attached to this picture allegedly these two boats were part of a Chinese Cruise Line and both of them were out and about fing people
around when a defect in the ships caused everything to go Haywire fires began spreading people started to panic and all hell broke loose the story then states that the Chinese government went and tried to hush things up so that nothing would be able to be traced back to them or that the Country Wasn't shamed because of the defect to the ships so is it really possible well it's not all that unbelievable at all actually first of all making things of a great size like a cruise ship does require a lot of skill and precision if
you do something wrong or you skimp on the work things are going to get kind of nasty the reason that the Titanic sank was not solely because of the iceberg that it hit but because of various faults in the boat itself that expedited that sinking so if there was a defect in the ships that caused a fire or even a short circuit in the system things could go and get hairy plus we do know that various governments not only China are more than willing to cover things up to not look bad the most important thing
here is that we all hope that we're not on board one of these vessels should something like this ever happen again as always you can comment down below using the # fancy topic and let me know what you think about what you just saw on the screen number 19 V Spirit one thing I want to make clear here is that not every crash that occurs is because of operator error sure the funniest ones are like with that yacht that I showed you earlier but sometimes the ship just doesn't want to work in the way that
the captain asks it to things can get kind of messy case in point in Istanbul there was a historic mansion that was right on the coast of a waterway that had ships passing through it all the time in 2008 one known as the Vita Spirit had just a little bit of a problem specifically one of the Rudders that helped to guide the ship got stuck now when you don't have a Rudder to help you turn the boat you have a tendency to go in a singular Direction the good news is that nobody was in the
Mansion itself so it didn't hurt anyone in the crash the bad news is that the Mansion was heavily damaged that's kind of what happens when a large supply boat hits a mansion that's not made out of super tough stuff the Mansion once belonged to a doctor who had served in the Ottoman Palace and dated back to the 18th century so you can just imagine that some people were rather upset when things got all broken up thanks to that ship over 50,000 vessels including tankers carrying highly flammable oil pass through that particular Waterway every year so
that should highlight some key elements of these watercraft the biggest of which is that a big thing happened on the ship is likely going to lead to bad things happening on land furthermore you should always be mindful of where certain historical landmarks are kept just in case a ship crashes into them and for the record it is totally possible to move a mansion so don't give me that excuse number 18 to infinity and beyond picture this scenario if you would be so kind to do you on a cruise ship everything's gone well for you and
the people that you're with however to all good things there must be an ending and for the people on board the cruise ship Infinity the only thing left to do was to watch and wait until the ship was brought into the pier to dock this took place in Alaska where a lot of cruises happen and via some of the staff on the pier we got to see this incredible footage that almost felt fake until you see things getting destroyed the ship has to make a Pinpoint Landing on the pier to ensure that everybody can get
off and so it doesn't get dragged Away by the water over time the problem is that there was a massive wind surge in that moment and it apparently helped to push the ship which was not going that fast due to trying to land safely in the dock and so it crashed into the pier and when I say crashed I do mean that stuff went flying you can even hear people filming this telling others to brace themselves for what's about to happen and then you slowly see the metal walkways of the pier getting wrecked because the
ship crashes into it you can even see the the markings on the ship as it begins going through everything now I acknowledge that it might seem wrong that something like wind could affect a ship like this but you're thinking about it way too linearly the wind isn't only affecting the cruise ship it's affecting the water that it's on and no matter how big of a vessel it is if it's on the water it can be pushed and pulled depending on the weather conditions and how fast that it's going thankfully the Coast Guard would later confirm
that the damage did not lead to any injuries number 17 boat versus dock now if you want to see another one of those kinds of boat accidents thankfully I have something for you to watch and enjoy and to also be rather horrified by The Vessel this time is the MSC Opera which was starting to make its way to a dock when the worst of things could happen and it had a mechanical issue timing sometimes can bite you in the ass but the good news is that the captain quickly realized the ship was about to get
out of control and that's when he started to blare the ship's horn so that people would know that something was wrong and get out of the [Music] way surely enough people did just that the bad news is that because of its positioning and the fact that it couldn't stop not only did it plow onto the dock but it obviously did damage to the ship and there was a Riverboat that was already part of that Dock and this massive thing just plowed right into that as well now honestly the footage perfectly captures the horrifying moment moments
of the event the ship is almost like a monster that refuses to be stopped and it results in a whole lot of damage going down one of the ironies of the crash in Italy was that it came at a time when people were blasting the cruise line industry because of how it was causing Venice to be overpopulated with tourism and then this thing happened so yes it did not change hearts and Minds in the end number 16 Cruise liner versus bridge now look being the captain of a vessel is not all that easy especially when
things can go wrong at the drop of a hat that are not exactly your fault in the slightest however it doesn't mean that things can't go wrong because of you as one Cruise liner captain from China would find out the hard way this Captain was piloting a brand new Cruise liner that cost over $28 million to make and he went and crashed it right into a bridge thankfully the bridge itself was not severely damaged but various parts of the ship including its chimney were knocked off in the Collision so how did the captain screw up
in such a ridiculously epic way well for multiple reasons actually the first reason much like our yacht owner from before was that the captain didn't take into account the tides which allowed the cruise liner to ride a lot higher than it would have at low tide another key reason for the crash was that there wasn't anyone on board outside of the necessary crew nor were there any cargo why does that matter the more weight that you have on a boat no matter the the size of it the more it helps to weigh it down and
allows it to sink into the water just a little bit more with no extra weight the boat was riding rather High and the tide helped to rise it even further so yes this time it was the captain who damaged The Vessel and I'm sure that he got an earful about it number 15 cruise ship Collision what would be the worst case scenario for a ship Collision well that would simply be two ships colliding into each other for one reason or another there's no need to complicate the explanation right in Mexico in 2019 the Carnival Cruise
ship line had one of the worst case scenarios albe it on a smaller scale thankfully enough specifically the vessel called the Carnival Glory was trying to Dock and was attempting to maneuver between a couple of other ships to do so which included the Carnival Legend the legend was already docked and so it wouldn't be able to avoid anything should it get too close but here's a hint the Carnival Glory did get too close at first the footage makes you think that it just might scrape by without issue but instead the back of the glory hit
the front end of The Legend and you can see the damage take place from there watching the back of the boat be punctured and torn up is almost surreal given the speed that it's going at yet it really did occur there were some small injuries but the overall crew and passengers ended up being fine the passengers even even noted that they honestly did not feel the crash all that much still though it very well could have been avoided if the boats were not that close together number 14 deviating from its course for the MSC armonia
it was supposed to be a simple parking at a dock they were in Honduras and in the middle of a cruise session and everything was going smoothly that is until it wasn't as you likely guessed it was about to go right into the pier that it was supposed to dock at but it's also why the ship crashed into the pier that's so interesting specifically apparently the captain did not slow down the ship no really instead of slowing down and going right into a nice stop so people could leave the captain just kept on going and
it went right into the pier damaging it and the ship you can hear people trying to get others out of the way in case something else goes wrong and it should be noted that some of the crew of the armonia did try and slow the ship down by dropping anchors but by that point it was just too little too late the next time just slow down the ship number 13 Panic on the ship a previous entry featured some rather chill passengers considering that they almost had a serious situation but this time though we have some
cruise ship passengers who were in full view of a crash that was about to happen and all they could really do was yell and scream at everything that was taking place in front of them this time the liner was was the Royal Caribbean via their vessel Harmony of the Seas there was no Harmony on the vessel that day when a crash happened the video in question comes from a passenger who was right on top of the ship and everyone who was there could tell that they were getting seriously close to the pier in question and
started yelling at everyone to hang on in case things got a bit Rocky and they were right to be scared that boat barreled right into the pier and then began to move to the right where people once again panicked because they thought that they were going to hit another area thankfully that did not happen but you can sympathize with the woman who shouted who the heck is driving this boat that's a question that I'm sure many people want an answer to and maybe you noticed the forklift doing 360 spins on the pier while everything was
taking place he was just oblivious or maybe he didn't care that he was going to die by cruise ship number 12 ship versus crane what happens when an irresistible Force meets an immovable object well in this case a lot of damage can take place the ship in this case is the Milano Bridge which was actually being guided onto the dock by some tugboats yet for some reason the ship was going way too fast and it tried to adjust at the last moment by turning away from the dock but nothing was going to stop the destruction
that was oncoming instead it plowed right into the nearest crane causing it to collapse in rather epic fashion that crane fell onto the ship and then the ship just kept on going according to other reports the ship would later go on and crash into another dock despite all the damage that was shown nobody was killed but a person inside of the crane did suffer a broken ankle now seriously what in the world even happened here that's a huge ship to be going so fast into a dock especially when there are nice big and metal objects
that you can crash into instead number 11 cargo ship Collision now remember what I said earlier about the worst case scenario well here's another round of that but with an extra twist involved this took place at a port in Pakistan where a ship was coming into Dock and it came in just a bit too hot and then clipped another ship that happened to be parked there already as you can see when the Collision took place some of the cargo containers that were on the moving ship fell off and then went into the water so not
only are you damaging two ships you're losing some of the stuff that they were transporting and that's not exactly cool at least 21 shipping containers had fallen into the sea which contained cars and other Freight so if nothing else there was some quite expensive stuff going down into the water the Collision was so rough in fact that they actually had to shut down the port just so they could see the extent of the damages and then attempt to figure out what had taken place well we all know what happened two ships ran into each other
but of course they probably wanted to know why and that's fair it just goes to prove that something like this can take place anywhere and everywhere so you really have to be a good Captain to ensure that it never happens to you number 10 the MV maretta now let's head to Colombia where we have yet another case of a boat deciding that it wants to get all up and close and personal with a pier now at first you can tell that it's going to hit it just because of the angle it looks like it's barreling
right toward the person with the camera and then it does turn but not in a meaningful enough way and that's when all the Carnage ensues the vessel's port side hole would be damaged because of hitting the pier along with the port side anchor that was torn off now again captaining a boat is not the easiest of things but you would think that they would have had enough training just to know how to not scrape along the side of a pier and cause a whole lot of damage to the ship number nine ship versus crane stop
me if this sounds familiar a ship was coming into the dock and it hit a crane and that caused it to basically fall apart with absolutely no effort oh you were shouting stop I didn't hear you in Shanghai China that's exactly what took place and unlike The Last Ship that did this which was more about speed than anything else nobody honestly knows how the ship's operator could not tell that it was heading straight for a crane platform the ship went right into the thing and it did not matter what it did that crane was going
down and going down hard in fact Not only was the crane damaged the entire thing sank Into the Depths now I have a feeling that a serious investigation was conducted on that Captain afterwards number eight ship crane fire you know I am really kind of starting to enjoy these videos of ships that go into cranes for no reason all so that we can see the aftermath of what happens this time it was a ferry that was trying to get into a port in Barcelona and because of bad weather conditions it had to go off course
which then LED it to a place that it couldn't actually dock you know the place with the crane so yes the boat truly could not do anything but smashed right into that crane which then caused the crane to topple over and hit the ground really hard and then a fire ensued yay thankfully nobody was injured there were no chemicals or hazardous materials dropped into the water and the fire was taken care of quickly still though it's crazy to think about how this domino effect went down and how much worse that it could have been had
there been people around number seven ship versus two cranes here we have another incident that took place in China but there's yet a Twist you see the ship in question was getting awfully close to some crane Wars that were nearby as it was trying to Dock and upon noticing that some nearby controllers were trying to message the ship to let them know that they were just too close however the ship never responded to their calls and that's not what's supposed to happen because of their failure to listen the ship hit the warf and it took
out not one but two cranes and just as bad there were people that were actually trapped beneath the metal of the cranes after the incident and they had to be rescued not to mention there were some cargo containers that were heavily damaged in the event so failing to listen would cause an incredible amount of damage and almost cost people their lives number six one apus now we'll shift away from cranes and human error to talk about a key danger that ships will face while out on the water and that would be storms specifically when a
vessel like a container ship is caught up in one as any Captain would tell you the worst thing that could happen in a storm is having various cargo you have on board shifting all around that's going to cause the boat to sway back and forth and potentially sink in the case of one apus back in 2021 they were caught up in a storm that was so bad that their cargo containers just didn't sway they went right off the boat over 1,800 containers went into the water because of that storm which was the worst loss of
cargo in years and while the footage that you're seeing obviously doesn't highlight the event itself it does go to show you how bad things can go and how even those containers that stayed on board were not exactly intact number five Welland Canal Collision previously when you have seen boats colliding it had to do with one boat already being docked and the other moving around it but at the wellend canal which connects Lake Ontario to Lake Erie two boats were moving at one another in a routine maneuver that ended up being anything but that the ship
Alanis was heading up the canal with a load of wind turbine Parts while the Florence Spirit was heading down with a load of coal due to the footage angle you expect them to pass right by each other but instead they basically collided head on that is not exactly how this kind of thing is supposed to work out seriously how did they not notice that they were basically playing a game of floating chicken and notice how the boats basically stop in place right after the event happened that should show you the force that actually ended up
going down there number four Baltimore Bridge crash now you may recall an event taking place earlier in 2024 where ship crashed into a bridge in Baltimore Maryland and it did some serious damage that was the ship Dolly and it was a serious event when it took place as people actually died from the damage to the bridge so then how in the world did this happen there wasn't one route cause sadly there were several the ship had been dealing with some severe power outages and blackouts which included right before it went into the bridge it was
also being piloted by a novice who was being overseen by an experienced pilot no matter how you look at it it was an absolute tragedy and it's one that should never be replicated if at all possible number three roddom Bridge Collision sadly we don't have to look that far back to see another case of a large ship hitting a bridge in 2020 a bridge in roddom was hit by a container ship while that bridge was overall fine the ship itself did lose a couple of containers as for how it actually happened this was apparently another
case of ignoring the low tide apparently when the boat went to the bridge the first time it was on low tide and did just fine but then when it went back it did not acknowledge that it wasn't low tide again and it attempted to Barrel right through and you know how that always goes it's not the first time that a ship has become victim of high tide and it probably will not be the last number two sh taken stirred and sunk all throughout this video I have shown you all kinds of ships that have been
damaged or have caused damage to various things however one thing that I have not shown you was the act of a boat being sunk because of one of these mistakes I'm going to change that for you now in Greece authorities were called in late at night due to a Mayday call for a super yacht and I'm not joking here it was named 007 apparently the captain was not paying the best of attention to the terrain that he was sailing killing that expensive yach across and it ran ground causing a lot of damage and allowing the
boat to tip and sink number one a head-on collision now if you have ever wondered what it may look like to be on a vessel that was about to get hit headon by another craft well I've got a short and sweet video for you here you can clearly see that two ships are about to hit each other and the person who is taking the video is rightfully freak the hell out about what's going to happen to him and the vessel itself this is another one of those horror movie moments because you know that it's about
to happen and you're just waiting to see how bad things are going to get a head-on collision is pretty bad and they were clearly out at Sea when it took place so one can only imagine what the aftermath of this actually ended up being well that's all from the realm of ship collisions against all sorts of weird and wild things and why many of those ones who Captain those craft should never drive one again can you believe all the collisions that happened and which ones were the most shocking to you perhaps there is another shocking
boat mistake that should have been mentioned on this list go on and let me know all about it in the comments section down below check out all the other cool things that are showing up on the screen and I will see you next time
