Federation and when you play well in affiliate rated tournament your chest rating goes up and when you don't it goes down besides ratings there are also titles and the highest title of chess player can attain is the Grand Master title followed by International Master followed by feeding master and finally the candidate Master title foreign [Music] this is like a super long trip for USA we've been away for like a month you know so we just came back from Denmark and then we went to Norway and then we went to Italy key reasons why we decided
to go for three tournaments in a row this time because like actually try to get up to speed kovit really hit him hard right because two and a half years of totally no competitive chess plus psle he actually started off on a flyer so he started winning like the first it was very anti-climatic three four games I won the first four games and I lost the last three they collapsed yeah yeah [Music] I think it needs to be a more rigid and disciplined schedule of training right now it's very ad hoc when he has more
free time [Music] [Music] Chloe is our artist in Residence this season she's actually the youngest artist in Residence we had he will be given the opportunity to do a several concerts with us and a recording projects and this is not something that every artist has been given [Music] the title is very prestigious it's also very demanding the pressure of standing on stage you know in front of a huge audience like 1600 people at Esplanade it's really tough for 15 year old soloists hi my name is kawitra I'm 15 years old and I'm a violinist I'm
steaming Bell for my mom and we're gonna have lunch together normally it's quite relaxing unless you mess up in the process this one like the paper is what what is it yeah look okay it's too much okay okay I just finished my first performance of me as artists in Residence how do you feel about the concert it was okay but I could have done better it's a challenge to me but it's not like I can't pull this off it's harder to play with an orchestra because there's so many different instruments there's a lot of details
that has to be checked and be played clean and carefully [Music] Chloe's next SSO performance will be in January she will be doing a recording as well on the Mozart number three avoiding Concerto Number Three some of the pieces I have started on it yet but it should be fine I think I can pick it up quite fast [Music] thank you so Han has to sacrifice a lot more if he wants to do as well as even the non-professional players from overseas ironically right sacrifices is a key part of the game if you were to
be brave enough to sacrifice pieces to try to win a game you know in any game if you want to like actually get good at it Talon is definitely not the only thing you need you also need to have put in a lot of time and put in a lot of hard work I don't really have much free time to press band practicing chess I have to complete my school homework study for the exams and I also have my ccas [Music] currently my trash reading is around 2100 and I'm a candidate Master to become a
grand master you need to have a skill level of around 2 500 rating my dream is obviously to become a chess Grandmaster but realistically I'm not really sure that that's possible [Music] foreign [Music] she can already pick up teams and play on the piano and she will want to get everything correct if not then she will just keep repeating the first time I played the violin I was very intrigued it can produce such beautiful sound it wasn't like suddenly like oh oh wow I can do this or stuff like that it was like day by
day practice and I just got better from then I remember every single competition I I went to the first one was Thailand when she was eight years old another nine years old she went to Italy bought she won first prize 10 years old she attended two high Mozart competition and she won the third prize so this is step by step gearing her towards the menu competition [Music] many conditions is regarded as one of the top if not the top competition for young families and when I won it was just happiness I was exploding with happiness
after winning the menu in my life has changed I received many invitations to perform globally that time was very stressful for me because I had to clock my hours of violent practice and also I had to finish my homework and I kept falling sick but after psle my mom decided to put me in this homeschool program I wouldn't think she missed out anything I would say that she's just having a different lifestyle I compared to other students she doesn't have so many people around her so many like classmates [Music] but do you miss it though
Chloe I I'm pretty fine with that [Music] it's on old school today we're running a bit late for your chest practice you know today was quite fun and eventful I mean now it's definitely much more busy due to the uh PCS on Monday I have the big CCA and on Wednesday I also have to bake CCA and on Friday I have chess CCA and right now for him uh he has a coaching session once a week that's with his current coach Grandmaster on Drake Vaughn he has ability to concentrate on focus and he loves chess
and he's also hard working but I think it's common for all singaporeans that a lot of work in school foreign enough time to study just you can work five hours a day but there would be some kid somewhere else on in the world who will work 10 hours a day but then there would be someone who works 16 hours a day if you want to be the best you have to sacrifice [Music] okay okay okay needable cases previous Direction every day I'll be practicing about five to six hours people have called me a child prodigy
before but honestly um I'm just doing my best I still have room to improve we are tired foreign [Music] defensive [Music] [Music] even though I want many competitions and have this artist and residence title I keep practicing to better myself the music there's no Perfection at all [Music] foreign [Music] I don't have any injuries so far from practicing from the violin just a bit hardened on the tip of my finger yeah it's a bit hardened but it's not a lot is is the friction between the chin rest and my chin because I'm always placing my
bun in there and practicing for so long yeah a bit painful it's a reminder that I have to practice if not my boots will go away [Music] a lot of dog breeds this is one of them this is called the Shiva Inu yes this is the meme that don't mean that is very popular husky Golden Retriever [Music] because of my long hours of practice I have no time to take care of a pet because I really want a pet dog if I have a dog right now I'll cuddle him a lot I'll cuddle it a
lot how was the game then we logging the position was quite close but I lost because in the game you played very solid but positive at highest level chess is mentally and physically exhausting if we talk about high level just skill one of them is calculation basically your ability to Think Through the position many many moves ahead yeah so here maybe Place Bishop to a more active position yeah I know that he will progress the question is how fast and how far [Music] but if you can spend 20 hours a week studying chess for me
there's no question that he will make further progress as a coach I wish him to do chess 24 7 but I understand that it's not realistic goal because there are many other things in life as well apart from chef there are two chess tournaments coming up one is an interschool chess competition in Singapore and the second would actually be in Malaysia Kuala Lumpur and it's actually a few Day Rated tournament I've not decided which one I want to go for yet [Music] today I have much more free so I can hang out with my friends

about the what was going on in Ukraine and I heard about the refugees and civilians that who are suffering so I really wanted to do my part to actually uh help them so I thought why not do so by through teaching them to chess my mom and I set up this website where people can donate for the course in order to participate in my chess lessons we reached about thirteen thousand dollars in total for the Ukrainian refugees a lot of people actually signed up and they came to my home to listen in on for me
to teach them chess yeah it kind of showed me that the chat is not just about like winning and improving my rating or can use that to give back to the society today I am taking part in a chess tournament to celebrate racial Harmony day this is my first year in my first institution and I feel that maybe through this team competition I can perform a team with three of my other chess club members and one more of them and try to win the flash conversation this is Isaac this is Julian this is Clement also

me as like a child fairness it will be like more often adult businesses in a classical World it doesn't really scare me because I guess this form of how to say form of encouragement yeah full of encouragement and motivation to achieve my goal my goal for me as ever this is to win the gramophone magazine award one of my Idols Hillary hunt she has won the award Thrice I want to take it as a challenge [Music] we have two options right one is to play in Singapore and represent your school and the other one is
to go to Malaysia so have you decided what what you prefer to do for this time around yeah I think I've made up my mind and I think I want to go for the national school steam competition uh in Singapore and I do not really want to miss this opportunity to be able to play as as a team with my fellow teammates and uh raffles so I think it's a good decision this is a great opportunity for him to play well with his friends and really be a teenager and have fun it's important yeah when
