if there's a lack of trust in major institutions amongst American workers it's a well-earned lack of trust because we went from an arc of history that that actually always through struggle made life better for workers every generation for 200 years to throwing the whole thing into reverse um now I do think that my experience as a union organizer is that people who actually and I'm sure Tano will talk about this when she's up here that once people have experience of taking action and winning and making change it's an incredibly empowering experience and um you know
uh I think it's much easier to trust in institutions that you have an experience of helping to change and helping to steer I think in a democracy no one should expect that they're going to be the only ones steering major institutions but having the experience of having decisions you make and actions you take together with co-workers or people in your community have an impact is definitely something that creates a Feeling of ownership uh in the broader societal institutions
