>> Why doesn't the BitLocker Setup Wizard let you save your BitLocker key to an encrypted drive? You would think that would be the best place for it. But it's actually not a great place for it in the sense that you're sort of locking the keys in your car.
Like if you need these emergency keys, it's because you can't decrypt your drives. If you put it on an encrypted drive, then you're sort of stuck. You need to decrypt the drive in order to get the keys to decrypt the drive.
The BitLocker Setup Wizard won't let you save the keys onto an encrypted drive. Now, you could say, well, I can hack it. I can create a loopback network connection and then save the BitLocker keys to an encrypted drive through a loopback.
The answer is yes. That's right. You can do that.
You just locked your keys in the car. I hope you're having a good time. This is not a security vulnerability in BitLocker Setup Wizard.
He's doing his best to stop you from doing something silly. But if you really set your mind to it, it's just going to say, fine, do something silly.
