How are you everyone? Today's topic is about following your heart and intuition. This topic has nothing to do with studying Japanese, but lately.
. . well, not so much lately, but since the beginning of this year, it's something I've been thinking about a lot, so I thought I'd like to share it.
When you make a decision, do you follow your heart? Or do you listen to the voice in your head? I used to only listen to the voice in my head.
The “voice in my head” is the voice of the ego. I think the word for ego in English is 'ego'. The voice of the ego.
And I think that the voice of the ego is often the voice of fear. For example, even if you have something you want to do, you might think “Oh, maybe I shouldn't do this”, or “What if you fail? “ or “People will think you're weird if you do this” or “You'll never succeed if you do this.
“You'd better not do it. ” This might be a bit similar to what we talked about before. We made an episode called “The Voice Within” before, it might be a little similar.
The voices in your head are the voices of your ego, the voices of your fears, and then there's thinking. 'Thinking' is thinking about things. Do you ever find that your head gets all jumbled up from thinking about lots of different things?
I sometimes do, but If you only listen to the voices in your head, you won't be able to hear the voice of your heart. You won't be able to hear the voice of your heart or your intuition. You lose sight of what you really want to do.
Also, in the past, I used to listen to the voices of the people around me quite a bit. It was advice from the people around me. “Wouldn't it be better if you did it like this?
” or I think I used to listen to that kind of advice and follow it. But now, I try to follow my heart. This is not an easy thing to do, even now, the voice in my head is too loud, I often can't hear the voice in my heart, so I try to follow the voice in my heart.
I think it's not always easy. For example, if you want to do something you really want to do, it takes a lot of courage, and it's scary to choose a different path to everyone else. Also, even though you can't see what's ahead, there are often times when you wonder if it's okay to just listen to your heart.
You can't predict the future, and you never know what's going to happen. Even though you have no certainty, I think it takes real courage to follow your heart and intuition. When I was around 20 or 21 years old, I started listening to my heart.
That is, I think you've all heard of it before, when I was about 20 years old, I heard a speech by Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs gave a speech at Stanford University, right? Watching the video of that speech really changed the way I think.
Even before that, I had thought “do what you want to do”, but after listening to that speech, I really started to follow my heart. I think everyone has heard that speech at least once, but I'd like to introduce the part that resonated with me. Yes, I'll say it in Japanese.
“You can't connect the dots looking forward. You can only connect the dots when you look back on the past. So you have to believe that one day the dots will be connected.
” I remember getting goosebumps when I heard this. To get goosebumps is to get goosebumps. I got goosebumps.
You can only connect the dots when you look back on the past. That's really true. When you're looking at the future, I don't know how the dots of the present and the future are connected, and I don't know if what I'm doing now will lead to the future.
We can't predict the future, and we can't control it, so you don't know whether what you're doing now or what you're going to do in the future will lead to the future, so you get anxious, right? You think, “I wonder if it's going to be okay? But Steve Jobs says said, “Please believe that these dots will be connected.
” Also, there is one more thing that touched my heart, so I'll read that too. “The most important thing is Please have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. You already know what you really want to become.
” I was really moved by this speech. I was moved, and I realized that it's okay to follow your heart. And after listening to this speech, I started to follow my intuition with even more conviction.
I studied abroad in Spain, people around me asked me “Why are you studying Spanish? “What will happen if you study Spanish? I was told, “You should study English,” but at that time, my intuition and my heart told me that I wanted to study Spanish.
So I followed my instinct. After that, I never thought I would go to Mexico and become a Japanese teacher, but when I look back, I realized that studying Spanish in Spain I realized that studying Spanish in Spain had led me to becoming a Japanese teacher in Mexico. This is just my personal opinion, but I think you already know what you really want to do and the direction you want to head in.
I think your heart already knows. The answer is inside your heart. And I think that voice is waiting for us to hear it.
But the voice of the ego in our head is too loud, so we can't hear the voice of our heart. I also forget this in my everyday life. Not just your own voice, In today's society, you can hear the voices of many different people.
Sometimes you worry about what other people think. But what I often think is that at the moment of death, I think that most of the things we worry about will become unimportant. When you die, you don't think about what people will think of you.
What do you think about at the moment of death? I've never died before, so I don't know, but I can only imagine, but I'm sure the last thing you think when you die is “Did I live my life to the full? “, “Did I value the things that were important to me?
”, I think you might also wonder whether you tried the things you wanted to do. Of course, you might also wonder what the people who are important to you, such as your family, partner or close friends, I think you would think about how the people you care about, like your family, partner, or best friends, think about you, but You won't think about how other people think about you. But, I'm guilty of this, I often find myself using up my energy on things that don't matter at the moment of death.
Even now, I'm still practicing things like listening to my heart and following my intuition. I practice every day. I think this is something you learn over the course of your whole life.
For example, letting go of your thoughts by meditationg, or writing a diary and doing some introspection are also important, I think. We talked about introspection in last month's episode, right? Introspection, right?
I think it's important to do some introspection. And since the start of this year, I've started to listen to my heart more. I've already talked about the various things that worried me last year in this podcast, but when I was worrying, the voice in my head was really noisy.
“You should do this” or ‘You shouldn't do this’, the voices in my head and the thoughts in my head were really noisy, but This year, I learned the importance of listening to my heart again. Of course, when making a big decision, it's a bit difficult to suddenly listen to your heart. But if you live your life by following your heart from day to day, when you have to make a big decision, you will be able to hear your heart's voice naturally.
So, even with the little things in everyday life, I think it's important to choose the things that make you excited or that you want to do. For example, if it's something really small, you can practice choosing what you want to eat Practice choosing something you really want to eat based on your gut instinct. Also, think about who you want to see.
If you think “I want to meet this person today” or “I want to talk to this person today”, you can try contacting them. And if you think “I want to wear this”, “This is a bit strange, but I think I'll wear it because I want to wear it, so you wear it. Also, for example, if I think “I want to go here today” “I don't know why, but I want to go here”, then you go there.
When you're making small decisions in your everyday life like that, if you practice listening to your heart, when you make a big decision, you will be able to hear your own heart's voice naturally. I'm still practicing this myself, but I really want to live my life as myself, and I want to do the things that I really want to do with all my heart in this life, I want to continue to live by listening to the voice of my heart. And when the voice in my head or the voice of my ego becomes strong, In my case, it's almost always when I'm tired.
When you're tired or haven't slept much, it also affects your mind. So, it's important to get a good rest, and I think it's also important to make time to face your feelings. I think that the people listening to this podcast are connected by some kind of fate, so I hope that after listening to this, even just one person will listen to their own heart and live a life that is true to themselves.
I'm also working as a Japanese teacher now, but I don't know what will happen from now on. I'm going to listen to my heart and do what I really want to do. Yes, but now I'm doing this job as a Japanese language teacher, so I'd like to be able to share lots of things with you in Japanese.
Well then, thank you very much for listening to the end today. See you in the next episode.
