I made a decision to start working out three years ago and it transformed me from this to this I'm not gonna lie there are a lot of hardships along the way but the hardest part was starting well this video is going to be your guide on how to successfully start your fitness journey [Music] so first things first in starting your fitness journey find a workout activity that you actually like Yes actually like I don't know if it's just me but I used to think that working out is just pure pain and people who like working
out are probably just like masochists or something and they're crazy because I personally did not like working out but working out actually doesn't have to be this Dreadful thing in fact it could be something that you genuinely look forward to and this is actually what happened to me like I fell in love with lifting and I genuinely enjoy it personally I like lifting weights because it just makes me feel really strong and confident I don't know something about lifting super heavy and putting it down just makes me feel super empowered so you know you just
gotta find out what works for you you could try different workout classes running outside yoga literally anything that just makes you feel good actually this is me trying a real intense pilates class for the first time and probably the last time for a while because it was just so painful and it just was not for me so don't be afraid to try different things experiment and just find what you like [Music] all right first things first deodorant this is an essential you know I'm a little extra I like to have another layer of protection this

was like the scariest thing in the world I felt like everybody was staring at me I was really anxious I felt like I didn't know what I was doing but here I am three years from then I'm literally bringing a whole ass camera to the gym so if I can do that you guys can go to the gym even if you're anxious push through and show up for yourself and with time you're gonna get more comfortable you know and then you're gonna start owning the gym foreign [Music] trust me when I say this sometimes a
really cute Gym Fit has the power to change your mindset and your confidence completely I know it's just clothing but do not sleep on it when I first went to the gym I used to only wear hoodies and just some basic running shorts which is fine you know that works but I will say when I started investing in gym clothes that I genuinely liked it made me like way more excited for the gym you know because you know you're kind of feeling yourself and then you're like oh I got this I'm gonna kill it at

straps off and your whole back is showing and it's just super flattering um this is me trying to flex my non-existing back muscles and lastly I got you on your rest day guys because you still you know want to look cute on your rest days I'm obsessed with this new knit fabric from gymshark this is kind of more of like a lounge set I've been wearing it just lounging around my apartment like doing errands things like that I even wore the shorts to sleep a bunch of times they're just so comfortable guys this fabric is

guidelines if you are working out I used to really over complicate my diet because I used to bingy but it's really basic just try to eat relatively healthy now this does not mean you need to eat salads every single day okay no thank you try to eat a high protein diet especially if you're lifting weights eat plenty of fruits and vegetables drink plenty of fluids especially water and as someone who used to struggle with an eating disorder I've always had a sensitive relationship with food so for me I just try to eat healthy food for
the most part but I definitely indulge when I want to I have dessert every single night guys I'm a huge sweet tooth so I need my dessert and if I'm craving something I'll eat it you know and also you can make it fun okay as someone who used to never cook and who also is not the best cook I found that I actually now really enjoy cooking and I've been enjoying trying new recipes and trying healthy recipes so if I can do it you can do it too so the biggest thing you need to change
before you start your fitness journey is right here I was that girl all talk no action I would always tell myself oh I'm gonna start working out I'm gonna be consistent I promise myself I'm gonna do it this year this can be my year a week or two would pass by and I already gave up and this is because my mindset wasn't quite there so first thing I had to change was changing my mindset on why it's important to work out so my only motivation for working out was to physically look better but no no
no no you need to see working out as something that'll not just make you physically look better but help you feel better and help your mental health like for me starting my fitness journey has helped me so much in terms of building confidence building discipline believing in myself you need to be honest with yourself okay I was not honest with myself but if I was being honest with myself I was only working out because I wanted to look better and prove all my haters wrong and stunt on all my old friends and people from high
school but once I stopped focusing on wanting to lose weight and look good that's when I was actually consistent with my fitness journey which actually leads me to my second point which is don't rely on physical indicators of success try to look at your Fitness benchmarks as an indicator for your success like not gonna lie it takes a while to see the physical results that Lisa did for me and if I only relied on how I looked in the mirror as a way to see my gains I would have been gave up years ago instead
focus on if you're lifting heavier each week or if you're able to run a mile more or you just feel healthier like those are huge accomplishments being able to lift heavier finding yourself being more consistent in the gym being able to run faster things like that are things you should be proud of falling off feeling unmotivated slacking off that is all okay everyone does it it's part of your fitness journey nobody is motivated 100 of the time I know you guys see these Fitness influencers including me seem like they have their life together because they're
always working out always posting about it always in the gym they seem like they're so motivated do not compare yourself to Fitness influencers because a lot of you guys are you know full-time students you guys are moms you guys are working you have other responsibilities other than just working out and you should not compare yourself with Fitness influencers because their whole life is working out and so that's all they have to focus on you know while you have all these other things to focus on too so you need to show yourself some Grace okay does
that make sense I don't know lastly I just want to make the point that I used to think that only special people would be the ones that get up every day and work out like that's a special type of discipline that I can never have I'm here to tell you as the most normal person that that is not true if you set your mind to it like I want to start my fitness journey now boom you could do it and I wish somebody told me that when I first started because I would have started my
