I'm Mason Quinn. Folks, today it is time for the premiere of season 3, House of the Drgon. This is, of course, episode one.
I'm very excited to check this out because I want to see chaos and backstabbing and then people sneaking around and then double crosses. Oh, it's going to be great. Oh, and some dragons.
Mommy, I want to see the dragons. and I'm definitely ready, willing, and able to see them. Folks, if you are catching this video as your first time over here on the Bad Medicine channel, you should know we are in the middle of watching Game of Thrones.
Mason Quinn and I have seen it. The answer had not. So, we're going back through watching all the episodes of Game of Thrones.
So, this is an extra special treat to be diving in. And so you're kind of caught up as far as like the timelines of everything. So please feel free to help us out in the comments.
Spoilerfree of course, but uh this is extra exciting. Like I said, not just because we're continuing House of the Drgon, which has been incredible. We also wrapped up, of course, Night of the Seven Kingdoms, but now in the midst of a Game of Thrones run.
So this is going to be so exciting. All right, without further ado, then let's go. It's looking in the streets.

Egon is bedridden. Well, you're about to get a surprise. I could take both Eegon and the throne in a single stroke.
Surely this is not possible. But the Greens know already that their defeat is written. Aement flies on Vagar.

How's the timing going to work out with uh our our two schemers getting delivered? Back then you just hood up and my queen the king requires an audience rather to the throne room your grace. Oh, it would have been cooler if it would have been one person.

Well, they don't seem overly hostile right away. It's our men from the north. We know that banner.

Well, he's got a pretty unmistakable face. Well, with the beard and everything. We have come to die for a dragon queen.

Just that. The fact that they actually brought a lion out on the battlefield. Yeah, it's kind of kind of [ __ ] Oh, at first I thought that was his POV that he was like getting Good tomorrow, Lord Hand.
Has there been word from Prince Edmon? No. He and Vaggar were supposed to have joined us back at the Antlers.
We march ever exposed. If he does not come, he has to come. Does he though?
There is another matter. One of our men has ravaged a village girl. I witnessed the offense myself.

Oh, holy [ __ ] just complete carnage. And Aean didn't even have anything to do with it in terms of being at the battle. Well, there you go.
Went. Yep. Well, Jace, you had a good run, buddy.
But, you know, what's to say if Look, if if it wasn't him, it could have very well have been the queen. I mean, granted, she's probably more of a skilled rider and you could argue maybe she wouldn't have gotten hit, but you know, everything with uh with the double cross and everything that happened is no guarantees. So, yeah.
What a I mean, folks, is this everything you want from House of the Drgon or what? I mean, this massive naval battle with dragons and going through the straight. I mean, just everything you could want.
And I thought, and I think really important for a first episode back after such a long break. Like, look, you've I mean, from a viewer standpoint, you got to you got to make me get invested after a long wait like that. Like, all right, was the weight worth it?
I completely I think for me like if you open with something weak if you open with a weak episode people are going to be look I I I I'm only being partly uh well I'm being partly facitious is look I've been waiting for this for so long. So just getting back in this world for me is enough. Let's let's reintroduce us to the characters.
Let's get the let's get warmed up a little bit. Maybe the way some folks felt about season two. I'm just saying they wanted to catch your attention and go big in the first episode.
They went big. So many angles, which we'll get into. You had the queen getting locked in her chambers by Jace.
You had uh a new dragon uh sheep stealer that completely doesn't want to listen, which we've seen now in Game of Thrones. like, hey, there's still wild animals. Excuse me.
We have an unbelievably massive battle with fire and gore and just all kinds of crazy [ __ ] going on. And then we find out that, hey, uh, maybe Aemon isn't going to be any better ruler in place for Agon to begin with. It almost makes you believe like, are there any good Targaryens on that side uh to be uh fit for ruling?
But what a wild episode. And Allison's whole plan. I mean, I I like the way that the actor played the scene.
Uh Allison's uh actor, how she played that scene. Yeah. Because she had this terrible poker face.
For one, like once she heard about the way things were going with Aean, like her face told us, the viewer, like this whole plan is totally screwed. I've got to try to do anything I can to make him go to Harrenhal, try to come up with some reason why he has to go there. And it was just like her whole plan was just totally screwed from the start.
And um you know, speaking of plans being screwed, Laris and uh and Aegon, their whole plan to get away, that didn't go so well. They got captured. I was wondering, would they get captured and brought back in time before all of this happened?
But but clearly not. things were already in play, but I thought, you know, maybe it would give uh Rene some some or Raina some time to, you know, counteratt attack or have some kind of leverage or whatever. But nonetheless, they're still captured.
They're still going to Raina. So, going to be very interesting to see how that plays out and what kind of leverage that buys her. Yeah.
just uh especially with this scene like him even trying to like say no no no I'm not I because he will not bend at the knee and the thing is like you can bend at the knee and pledge your allegiance you don't have to mean it. No. Yeah, sure.
Whatever. My fingers. Yep.
Yep. Yeah. Hey yeah.
I'm all for it. But uh but you also said though those uh kings guards were uh or queens guards were ready to just uh take out anybody and everybody with uh it seemed like that's why like they asked what about these guys? Uh not a consequence.
Well, so we're going to take them out. I had a big Reneer was right the first time. Yeah.
And it was just it was just crazy cuz like they're trying to I don't know what their like their endgame was. Like I know they wanted to get far away, but he's it's like they're both not going to ever be in good enough shape to really he was probably going to sell him off to the highest bidder. I mean, that is probably true.
What he was going to do is be like, you know what, you're done. I'm going to like Well, like he even said, we can go there and just you can ask your price. It's like you always the schemers are always about one thing and one thing only, and that's gold, whether it's in game or in this.
Yeah. I mean, at this point in in uh the start of episode three here, I don't put Laris up there with Little Finger and uh Varys quite yet, but he he's trying. He's our resident schemer of the of the show.
And uh again, I'm very curious to see what his plan was going to be if if he ever cuz he they did have that kind of emotional talk in I think it was season two where he talked about, you know, what he had gone through and he was kind of drawing a comparison to what Aean went through. So maybe he was genuine, but like look, a schemer is always going to be out for himself. Oh, always.
He doesn't he doesn't care who he's going to hurt or torment or whatever along the way. They always care about numero uno and how much more power they can uh receive. Yeah.
So read that answer. Well, so we can talk about different scenes. That's why I don't.
Oh, okay. Yeah. So yeah, Raina was the uh the young woman riding sheep.
So yeah, I have that room. No, why don't you ask? We got Well, no, he just flip-flopped.
I switched up. I thought I was right the first time. Uh, look.
Oh, wow. I mean, this episode was exhausting. And I say that in like in the most endearing way possible because it just takes you through all God damn it.
Answer. Takes you through the senses. Takes you through the emotes.
It takes you through the all the emotions. like you're like worried and you're like oh my god and then like holy [ __ ] yeah free the dragon you know we want to you know one of the things we've said consistently you know throughout the series is we love seeing the dragons it's so impressive and Mason Quinn you've talked before um of course in Game of Thrones House of the Drgon um how for years fans of fantasy just wanted like can we get like a real looking dragon you know and of course in in Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit films. I don't know whether Drgons in the Hobbit or when we first saw Smog Hobbit movie.
When we saw Smog, it was like, "Okay, this is this is pretty cool, but um and for as old as that is, I mean, it's still I think it probably holds up a little bit. " But going and watching this, it just is it for me it's on a whole different level. And so you get so excited to see these dragons and then when you have an episode where you lose one because look for those of us who know what happens fast forward to the Game of Thrones time frame.
We know uh no no spoilers that there are no dragons in spoiler. Then of course you learned that in the first episode. Then of course then of course there are there are dragons again.
So the the time um The look, we know that the the era of the dragons is at some point has to come to an end, at least in the House of the Drgon. But to lose one is is crazy and it's always gut-wrenching. It's pretty sad to see honestly cuz you're like, "Yeah, these things are pretty nasty.
" But you see one take one of those uh those giant harpoons to the stomach and it's like, "Oh no. " And then the one got, you know, tied up by the collar and you're like, "Okay, they teased us there. " And then like, "Nope, we're still going to lose one.
" And then in very dramatic fashion where you know it goes in the water and then and then starts sinking. Then of course um I honestly like I didn't think they would go that heavy the first episode losing Jace in one of the Queen's sons. I mean that's wild that we lost um one of Karine Rea's sons uh in the in the first episode.
Oh, he was a strong lad. Um, what do you think the odds of our uh of our gentleman who locked her in her room uh leaving the next episode with his head on? Very slim.
That's a good question. And like you pointed out, Oak, you know, they got lucky the first time with able to cut the line on uh on Verramax, but you knew one of them wasn't coming back from this plan. And you know, I was afraid we were and speaking of uh plans and losing people, I thought maybe we were going to lose uh Corus just because that emotional kind of talk that he had in the cabin sharing a drink.
I'm like, "Oh, it's going to go all so wrong for these guys. " And we don't know yet. We haven't seen where Corus is at now.
A character like that, they're not going to take him out off screen, of course. But with Jace, I did find it interesting that um for being who he is of such high rank, just taken out by random arrows. Now, yes, the harpoon did bring the dragon down, but he was taken out by just some random arrows, not some epic battle by, you know, one of his enemies who's well known, just random random archers.
I wouldn't call it I wouldn't call it I'm going to have to disagree. Granted, it was yes, random archers, but they knew when cuz we heard multiple times, "Go after the rider. Go after the rider.
" And when that dragon went down, you know, all eyes were on the dragon in the water, and they were probably firing off arrows left and right at him. And the the way they did it so casually though, it was just like, "Thud, there's an arrow. There's another one.
There's another one. " They like they toned down the music and everything else going on and it was just like he was out there alone. when he wasn't, you know, in the middle of all these ships on fire and the water's on fire and all sorts of crazy stuff.
It was a total different compared to the others. He's just out there all alone. Couple arrows, three arrows.
And and when I say, you know, it's it's random characters who we don't know who's firing. There's no face to the king. That's what I'm getting at.
It's not like for the king, you know? Yeah. Not like the epic battle we saw between Coralus and uh and Lowhar where it's like okay these are two characters meeting headtohead on the battlefield.
It's like no he's just taken out in silence by random archers. Well the other thing is I mean with him in the in the water like that um this might be a little uh might be a little bit of a grim discussion but are they going to go and pull his body from the water? I mean he's still a well a prince depending on who you ask.
He's a he's a prince. I mean, there is he just going to be Yeah. is, you know, is Rene going to have an opportunity to bury her son or is he just going to be lost at sea?
That's why they could do that cuz they could use that as a bargaining chip as well, too, cuz we saw that a little bit in Game of Thrones, like getting the skull and process, getting the body back of Ned Stark so they can put him in a proper burial. Yeah, it's a look, it's a sad conversation to have, but I think in any times you you would think, okay, you what sort of bargaining chip is it with him after he's passed? Well, if if you know a parent wants the opportunity to provide a proper burial, then it's a it's a big bargaining chip.
But, um, who knows who's going to retrieve him. And, uh, look, there's going to be whatever peace offering, uh, there there was previous, remember, it was one son for one son. Well, now it's uh two Yeah.
two D on racking up that whatever whatever peace offering you had is it's uh it's it's totally gone. And and you brought it up too with uh with well then Allan and Lohar then having that fight in the water like the way they set us up. I thought we were losing either Corus or or Allen and I didn't know who we're going to take who and I thought I thought Lohar I thought she was going to take out and got the blade under the water.
I thought she was going to either do that in the water or she was taken out. Lord Corus like on the ship, but it looked like he had the upper hand. So like I was surprised that she got taken out cuz I thought she was going to at least get one if not both and like she was going to get some sort of victory.
But when we then get Jayce taken out then it's like all right well we had that one one for one so to speak. So then seeing her get taken out, that caught me by surprise cuz with her vengeance and the way they showed her as being so skilled and everything, I thought she was going to do I mean, she did an awful lot of damage. She did, but I thought she was going to take out one of those, too.
Especially with the the scene between them sharing a drink and everything in the in the cage. I guess that's, you know, kind of I'm on the opposite side of that. I'm not surprised that they kept them both alive because I think there's a lot more story here.
you know, just we kind of just got introduced us to Corus and his two sons and after however long finally saying like, "Okay, I'm recognizing you as my sons. I know things didn't go the way they wanted, you know, blah blah blah," you know, and he's like, "Oh, you gave me a job, but not your name. " you know, and I mean, so there um there's still that opportunity for that relationship to progress, especially considering that uh the son took out um took her took her lowhar um in the water and although we don't know where Corass is at this particular time, but you have to fell in right before.
Yeah. It's like the whole if we didn't see it, but I can't imagine that they would, you know, take him out with just falling in the water. Well, in this way they get to build Allan and Laur's or Allan and Coralus' relationship.
So later on when one of them gets taken out, it's going to hurt extra extra. Why do you have to say that to us? But well, speaking of Coralus' sons, uh, we go back to the island where Alf and Company are just hanging back waiting for their orders.
And I don't know if you can find an answer, but I swear it looked like they showed like a a human type creature with with antlers. Yeah. Which was wild.
Then of course was there Elf was there doing his business and and heard the noise and came running back when the goat appeared in front of him. But you know it's like these guys. Do we stay here and do exactly as we're told or do we follow our gut?
Because we saw what happened. Yeah, there you go. You got it paused right there answer.
That's perfect. Yeah, even got the uh that looks like our guy from uh Percy Jackson a little not quite the same antlers but is this place. Yeah, that's a crazy to think all that stuff was going on and you had three guys here with their dragons.
Yeah, because they were following orders, they stayed versus Jace and company who disobeyed orders and went into very different way of doing things. Yeah. And of course, there's no way with Rene locked up.
There's no way for her to, you know, provide new orders and it's like, uh, [ __ ] was messy. Yep. And then right here is showing up to leave.
missing the battle. Missing the battle. So, I mean, again, I'm now that these our trio with their dragons are together, I'm really digging like their interaction back and forth because it's like perfect, right?
You got one guy who's by the book, one guy who's like very stoic and the blacksmith and then the other and then there's Alf who's kind of like the wild card to stir the pot a little bit between everything. But I love that they actually cuz we had seen him always joking and bragging about being, you know, having, you know, royal blood and everything in the bars and we saw everything and then this episode they hit us hard with his back. Yeah.
With his backtory and he did a great job be the actor that played Al because I was I was waiting for the punchline from him. I really I kind of was. But he did such a great job telling that story and like now you're like, "Oh man, now we saw we see a whole new side.
" Yeah. because we saw it um we saw it with Hugh and we saw his backstory cuz they couldn't get the medicine and everything and how tragic it was for him losing his daughter and we didn't really you like you said you're right answer the way they showed Al was kind of the the comic rela telling all those stories. Yeah.
Uh let's take a minute to talk about uh we got Damon uh back on the battlefield and the introduction of uh he was loving it. the introduction of uh one of our favorite actors here on the channel. Um but uh that was that was pretty impressive.
Uh yeah, they swore their allegiance to the queen. Yeah, there he is. There he is.

That's the thing with this series is well and just real quick he's carrying the wolf's banners. We know who that is. Yeah we uh those are the uh the men from the north.
Yep. But but yeah to to your point I didn't mean to cut you off there but yeah it's always fun when a well-known actor gets to show up. Mason Quinn says he doesn't mean to cut us off.
Well I had to I had to jump in there. I was surprised at how well that uh we have a pause on here too. His name escapes me though too.
That was that was with Damian uh Jason Lannisters. Yeah. G like how much he was in the battle too.
I thought he was just a kind of a shy and just talked a big game. I didn't know that he would actually be in that battle and actually going through with it. I was I was shocked.
I I thought he would be one of those I lead but I don't do. Yeah. Yeah, I mean, well, they they they showed him as a very interesting character last season.
And he was definitely more than meets the eye, I think, is the best way to describe his character. So, yeah, I was excited to see him because he was always such a good foil for Damon back and forth. And and and yeah, like I'll reiterate, I just love that they showed him that he was actually in the battle, that he's not going to be like a like someone else, like like a Joffrey that will talk a big game.
Mommy wants you back inside. Mommy says the street lights are on. Go back inside.
The street torches are on. Street torches. There we go.
So, so I I like the fact that they actually put something in here that he's like he actually as much as he is smart and everything, he is actually one of those type that will get his hands dirty. Yeah, absolutely. There we go.
What a great start to third season. We lost we lost Prince. We lost to Drgon.
