would like to extend a heartfelt welcome to you all now from the off we get the newly created Netflix logo this takes place at the mcsh style staircases and it's a great way to Kickstart the episodes from here we then Kickstart the season with episode one which is title bread and Lottery this is a game we later see the recruiter playing with homeless people in which he gives them a choice between the two this game basically offers up aure thing and that's simple and shortterm all the lowrisk chance of winning a life-changing amount it basically
sums up the games themselves and plays into the recruiter Mo he is great at identifying people who would rather gamble on something instead of the less risky and safe option this plays into the psychology of the show and even has roots all the way back in season 1 there we saw after Red Light Green Light the contestants voted to go home the simple and sure thing they had there was that they would continue to live like their lives and while their next meal here they took that for granted Ed and instead gambled on getting rich
symbolically this reflects guihan as well if he took the flight it would have been a sure thing that he could have gone on to be with his family instead he gambl it all on the chance of taking down the games and the entirety of episode one is very much played like a game itself Gan is basically placing his chips throughout the underground in the Hop sale run to the recruiter even the squid game game theme is played over the top of it and the search is repetitive and form like a game of hideand-seek the station
is of course where he saw the recruiter in season one and it's eventually where he tracks him to however this takes place over 2 years which brings things to 2024 reflecting this Jon ho searching for his brother we discover that he was found floating in the ocean by a fisherman which makes it feel very born identity they say they catch squid and the Animals caught in the hund are sometimes referred to as a game so it's Squig look I didn't say all the Easter eggs would be good I just in the same way the scratch
card players are scribbling away in the hopes of finding a future he's Crossing off Islands on the map either way early on we see his guihan locate a tracking device in his ear this strategy is later used by the pair as they decid to use their own tracking device to help find where the island is these devices are what the gods scan and it's how guihan had the idea of where it was there's a lot of reflection in this episode as we have things like the tracking device but also the characters themselves jonho was shot
in the shoulder and this wound sits opposite to where he fired at his brother the rock paper scissors minus one has two players sitting opposite and this is also repeated in Russian now though this is a widely known game it's clearly set up in a similar fashion to how it's depicted in Deer Hunter the recruiters also referred to as a dog for following orders guihan asks him to admit this and though he doesn't it clearly must have crossed his mind due to the punishment he deals to the boss in his underling they both have dog
bone gags in their mouths which makes me think this is how the recruiter wants the rest of the world to be perceived boss Kim shows he's better than the games though as even though he could win he decides to let usuk live in the first season he was a gangster who was just a lone Shar but now it seems he's gone legit it's even possible that the people geehan hires may have been targets for the game and in paying them he's managed to keep them out of it now the recruiter sees other people as garbage
but in the end that's all that he is his actions are what make him bad he may wear a suit and look down on his opposites and the homeless but he's someone who would even kill his own father just to feel a little bit of power the bread Lottery moment reminded me a lot of bump fights and how it was exploding the homeless he destroyed food in front of them for his own sick pleasure and it plays off how the game organizers do similar things for their own entertainment one thing I love was also spotted
by our editor Matt who talked about their first and last meetings the first time gun ran into the recruiter he was holding a g gun hey this brings things full circle as their last meeting has them holding one as well other restrikes in this episode also include the number on the back of the card the 456 is guan's number in both this season and the last one now during season one there was a lot of controversy with the number well I say a lot it it was just one dude but the poor guy whose number
it was originally was inundated without about 4,000 calls during season 1 it wasn't a good time for him John ho also looks to file some paperwork in this episode and it riffs off when he discovered his brother's father in season 1 in addition to this we learn about the recruiter's past he was merciless in killing his father and in the end this cost him is Soul on the flip side of this we have the female guard later on who notices a father in the game though she could have shot him she has a crisis of
conscience and doesn't end up doing it in the end this is also shared by the front man who later enters the game as player one this is the same number Elam had and it also represents a position of power Gian is 456 which means he's the last player Elam was number one because he was an opposite to him in every single way he was an elite at the other end of the spectrum and ruling the games while guihan just played them the recruiter of course also dies to Time to Say Goodbye which obviously thematically plays
into his death how about the version of and dman sung by Paul partu if you're watching this in the UK you might know him as the winner of Britain's God talent beyond that though he actually won the South Korean mask singer so it makes sense as to why he's included in the show anyway that takes us to episode two which deals with the aftermath of the prior one titled Halloween party it's all about masks and what we show to the world this is reflected heavily in the God who initially starts off working at a fun
fair wearing a mask there she swaps us for another one at the end one is to provide love and entertainment and the other ones to provide misery and death now we discovered that there's a young girl who visits her every day who's dying of a rare form of cancer her father enters the game to pay for a treatment and she also sees him through her mask I don't think it's any coincidence either that she crosses paths with both while in opposite positions of power again she spares his life during episode three which kind of shows
how she is as a person one thing I also notied very heavily throughout these citizen scenes is the clothes that the characters wear you might notice that all of the civilians were lovely lovely clothes whereas as the future players and guards they all wear drab ones which is a really nice touch now we learned that she escaped North Korea 7 years prior and that her daughter didn't make it out since then she's worked for the games in the hopes they can get information as we know though they're manipulative and seeing this young girl gives her
a change of heart in addition to this we see how different the recruitment works when it comes to gods they don't have to play any games and just get given a card now I did wonder if this was a brand new recruiter or if her story was just happening alongside geun's either way we get a bit more of a look inside the Pink hotel which is where geun's been living at pink is a color ramping in the episode with it appearing at numerous points the color of the recruiter's chair is pink the wallpaper the doors
down the caror and also the pink on the walls we also have the pink ribbon on a card the fire extinguish is pink and the tiles in the shower are pink too beyond that though the guard wears a pink bunny suit at the fair and there's a pink pig with her too there's a pink lollipop pink drawing and the Gods jumpsuits are pink as well the opposite to this is green which is what the players have to wear I loved how early on when janho entered the car at the hotel how you could see a
green exit light as well another detail I thought was great was at Guan H hold's junho up at gunpoint obviously this is just a ruse as we know due to the last episode the gun's now completely empty we see how he's bought out the entire hotel as well all the rooms appear empty and he's turned one floor into his shooting range they have symbols of the games as well that they use for targets which I thought was a good touch you see that guihan has all his money in one place as well which kind of
plays off the end of season 1 the bank were confused as to why he left his money in one basic account so that carries on here with him not really having a clue on how to invest diversify and spread it across different things which he should learn reminded me a lot of Breaking Bad though Walter White just has it all in that one lockup now they also mentioned the gun K2 this is used by the South Korean military and there certain forces you know this guy was in the military at the hotel we then see
a smiley face in the mirror and also learn about seok's mother gan's using his money to help her and is clearly still torn up about the game we also see the front man's wife's grave and can tell he hasn't visited recently he's clearly wrapped up in the nihilism of the games but I feel like triple 2 reminds him of the good in the world she's pregnant and we learn his wife was as well before she died we do learn throughout this episode about donations and organ harvesting and learn he gave J ho his kidney Jon
ho says the front man could have sold it and paid for her treatment and there's clearly some level of organ harvesting now happening in the game anyway when going to the club we get further not to the colors as the horse masks green this is at the Halloween party and obviously this is going down on October 31st that's also the pickup day of the guards so it makes sense that the recruiter was the one we saw die in episode one lots of timey wiy wibbly wobbly stuff anyway geehan then gets taken to the limo and
we see a piggy bank radio this is shaped in the same way as the piggy bank that they use for the prize money in the games it's in this that geun tells a front man about his last conversation with ilam there we learned about his past and we see how they reflect each other ilam used his money to recruit people into the game and that was purely for his own entertainment in Reverse of this guan's now forming an army by stopping the poor being exploited eventually this mentality will carry across to the game where he'll
inspire people to stand up against their oppressors in the car the front man also asks if he's seen The Matrix that's about escaping a slave society which you could see the games as being able to to provide now he also mentions the red and blue pill in the film this represents choice and he can go back and be rich or go back into the games at the end of season 1 and the start of season 2 he had red hair in a blue suit and ultimately he returned to the game Life the pill color of
red and blue of course also reflects the Jackie game either way we end with him joining the games and get the twist at 11's joining them too however she's part of them with her becoming a god it adds in a sense of irony as she escaped an authorative regime just to go join with another that then takes us to episode three which is titled 001 this is of course a number of the front man with it also being what Elam had as well that should have tipped them off that he was part of the organization
but unfortunately for Guan it doesn't however what it does show is the opposite sides of the power Spectrum with guihan being the last number in the game he's the first so again just like with ilam it plays off the mentalities really well in this around the walls you can also spot some monkey bars as we learned last season these reveal games as the beds are Stripped Away these monkey bars are likely happening in season 3 as we don't see them happening in this one here though we then get to meet the players including the new
007 and also Thanos he has infinity stone painted fingernails and also gets Snappy with the others Snappy with the others you get that no these these puns sometimes they are pretty bad to be fair anyway as they have their photos taken we further get the color scheme enforced the suits are green and the walls are pink which is some nice iconography we also have an opposite to last season as guihan smiled whereas here he looks miserable upon playing Red Light Green Light we also see his Gan sort of become a merit illam as he knows
the rules however unlike him he explains them to benefit the 99% whereas Elam just used it to benefit himself we also learned that the old woman played it a lot as a kid being a similar age to what Elam was she has a lot of knowledge of things from his childhood for example there's the lunches which he says she had as a child and so on and so forth the time it's illam sister now it's in red light green light that Guan realizes his track is removed as we learn the both captains part of the
games and he was behind tipping them off throughout the season there's several Clues towards his allegiances which I want to talk about in this part of the video from what we know about him now he's been sailing the area for 30 years as we learned from illam last season this is how long the games have been going on for he also says that he used the bow to catch squid so squid game again you can kind of see the connection there on top of this we discover he found Jan ho floating in the sea obviously
in hindsight we know he'd likely have to have been near the island you know where he fell the fact the search takes two years and they don't come close to where he would have picked him up it's really really suspicious he' likely at least have an inkling but instead they just completely waste time instead I think the front man just told him where to get his brother the organizes would probably be annoyed if they found out he'd helped him so I think the captain's been told in secret to keep him from the Island he also
crossed the islands off the map but who knows if he even took him to the one he said he did for all jho knows he could have said let's go to spoiler Island and then he just drives to a random one and goes oh well what what that was in spoiler Island was it cross that one off might just be ones they've already been to before and yeah to search that long the guy was holding them back that is obviously speculation though but one of the biggest Clues comes with the booby traps after it detonates
we can see that he doesn't react going back to this it's obviously he let them go go to their deaths back on the boat he tells them they should go back to the mainland because they'll need a hospital we also have the visual iconography of a body being lowered to a cofin shape which is of course something that happens in the games anyway in the games no one dies in Red Light Green Light initially and yeah proper crap this year thumbs down however a wasp arrives and Thanos also gets high they do make it through
though with 11 refusing to shoot the father with the sick daughter come the end of the season it seems like he gets shot but I did wonder if this was fatal you might notice the guard has a gun aimed at his H but they then shift this to a less fatal spot personally I believe that he's okay and that 11 will save him through the organ harvesting she was completely against that cuz she was killing players instead of sending them to it and I think that when he goes there she'll go down and rescue him
either way the winnings are 365 which yeah not sure if it's a hidden detail but obviously that's the amount of days in the air unless it's a leap year here though what they do is give the illusion of choice ball down to its Basics though it's a bit bigger version of bread and Lottery they dangle a chance of getting something bigger instead of the sure thing that seems lesser in comparison it's basically the same a bird in the hands better than two in the bush it's also the same sort of technique the crypto scammer had
used he teased a battle life was coming if they went with him but in the end all it led to was loss this F was something they of course did last time but here I realized something I didn't spot there the two sides are herded into red and blue with them of course being the colors of political parties it also ties into the color of the deji and the Matrix pills as one office Escape while the other shows the choice to stay the group are also split down the middle and it highlights those and power

we have a pink ribbon on the coffin and also in about the side characters guihan also explains that he doesn't see the money as his because it came from the blood of others the from man also shows off how skilled he is in a fight he clearly enjoys the Applause he gets from the others and it could highlight he enjoys playing the hero this is something that he TS gee on with the end and I think this might be something that wins him back to the light again we learn his wife was pregnant and this
she may reflect Triple Two later on he tries to get them out so she can go to the hospital and then gives her his milk he's clearly in the games due to a crisis of conscience and this is shed in number 11 she's seen how bad organ harvesting can be because of the child with cancer and is now completely against it back on the mainland we also see things with Jun ho told he needs to bring evidence you might also notice the restaurant window characters are red and blue anyway we see as the players go
to a new game we haven't seen before this is the titular of six legs but I do want wonder if this is something the front man played as we know he won the games as well so potentially they're rep playing things from his year he also slips up and calls guihan by his name without the characters using it how about he passes it off as hearing it from Jung Bay who of course knew the character outside we also learn more about7 and his mother turns out she's a survivor of the Korean War and later we
he she used to play gongji with bullets I did wonder if Sheen her somewh a playoff keihan and his mother in season one as the pair were in a similar position with him being in loads of debt here we also learn a bit more about the frontman second in command he sits down and pours a drink which is something the frontman did last time that then takes us to episode five which is titled one more game which spoiler alert it's not well that's mainly because they vote against it but in the show mingles the last
game they play in the season we do have further teasers in the post credit scene though but we'll talk about that more in just a bit now we see how the games can truly cause massive mood shifts in the group the first teams doing it weren't really scared because they didn't see the full consequences the next teams are terrified but it's from this the unlockers learn the strategy so they go from calm loving it to oh my God we're all going to die to who look at that strategy let's be calm and get through it
there's also a bit of sweet side of the victory as you know winning gets other people killed now we even see that there's hierarchies and abuse of the system within the system number 11 is beaten by the gods and they Loop the footage showing how they have people everywhere she'll likely rebel against the gods which reflects how the front man later betrays his friends in the rebels either way after surviving the game the frontman gives the fake name Young ill the ill could be a tie with illam though I have to admit I'm not fully
up to speed with South Korean naming conventions however his name does mean 01 which is a further clu's part of the organization they then have a further vote on whether to stay or not it adds a new Dynamic but also creates further division as certain sides will stick together due to what they voted for Jung Bay ends up going against the group and I think this causes a lot of issues it's also potentially why the front man goes back to his nihilism as it's semeny idea that people are just greedy 390 AKA Jung Bay argues
to him that if he plays one last game he'll have the money to pay off his debts he somewhat betrays the group and thus the front man kills him in the end which could be seen as retribution or I might be reading into that either way though he realizes it wouldn't have made a difference anyway and this enforces his negative view of society he realizes that even in trying to stay positive he ends up losing more then tells him that he doesn't know what kind of monster this place can create and obviously he'd won the
games before and has now become a monster here they're also given bread rolls which are like the recruiter tried to hand out earlier it highlights that they should really just go home but a lot are addicted to the gambling good Gambler of course knows when to walk away but they don't and therefore some have to pay for it we also see inside the bathroom that they follow the colors of pink and green this two is mirid and mingle which has a giant Carousel that's pink the players on it are of course green and we get
this emphasized in a top- down shot pink of course represents power and that's why it's the bigger solid shape with the green fragmented dots inside they are all separate and divided whereas that's one big thing the players are surrounded by going into episode 6 titled o x these are of course on the badges that they wear these are also the colors blue and red to highlight the further political Illusions the game itself also relies on people having to fight amongst themselves as a whole at this point they could easily swarm the guard but instead they're
divided and thus easier to manage and just like season one we see a god marks a box to denote they're still alive this means that they'll have their organs harvested we also see rock paper scissors being played Simi gets screwed over and she fails because she put the trust in the wrong person she said that minsu would get eaten alive but she underestimated him everyone's really in it for themselves and this is reflected in the mother and her son he leaves her but rather than admitting that's what he did she comes up with excuses of
why it all went down like that it's only in the face of death though that you see what people are really like I feel like the mother wants to forgive him but deep down he can't forgive himself playing into potentially pulling the frontman back to good we see his triple 2's genuinely happy he survived he's definitely better than her boyfriend as well you see he's in there to get money to pay his debts whereas she wants to win and raise their kid after the game we then get a common on democracy versus dictatorships guon wants
to force them to leave the game whereas the frontman wants things to remain Dem Democratic the extremes of this are shown in Thanos who's happy to bully people in the bathroom he's killed with a fork in the neck and guihan finds one in his Sushi rooll to foreshadow the attack lastly we go to episode seven title friend of foe you can obviously tell all that plays into in this episode with it having several betrayals we begin with the stabbing through the crucifix which has the jux to position of a savior in death inside we also
see that the pills are pink and green which further plays into the color scheme Thanos also said he didn't have religion so this crucifix was all part of his image it's the same way that he was acting like he was friends with the players and at one point even calling them his brothers all it was though was a way to portray himself in a certain way when really it just had something darker behind it we also see outside the bathroom that the gods let it happen as it makes their jobs easier this then leads into
the culmination of the divide in which the players turn on themselves in the night this Rifts off of season one in which they broke out into a fight when the lights went off this time though they use it to Spring a trap Guan in the front man he's probably gone through this before and thus he knows how to play the situation launching their attack we see the situations flip and it leads into an uprising the group travel up a staircase which symbolizes them moving up the class system it's in this that the front man betrays
them with him killing Jung Bay in the finale we then end with the post credit scene which teases the games will still be played in case you don't know this is got young he who comes from South Korean textbooks and there she was joined by her brother CH Su this is the figure that we we see in the end and there has been teasers he'll be appearing in the series I wasn't expecting them to wait until season 3 but yeah I am excited to see him and they keep saying he's worse anyway that wraps up
