what is academic stress and how is it affecting our kids let's talk about it [Music] tests quizzes pop quizzes deadlines reports book reports kids are stressed they have a lot going on and outside of school after eight hours they have more homework to do let alone chores and other household responsibilities and some are even enrolled in extracurricular activities this leads to a lot of academic stress in my work at Turning Point Mental Health Center I've noticed some things between working with straight A students or C students and it has nothing to do with their IQ
most of the time when you have a straight A student it's because of their routine and it's about how much they have structure when they're able to balance everything some examples to help your child reduce academic stress are by having a routine by having some structure working with your child on a weekly basis or once a week on a Sunday night for example and going over their upcoming assignments this allows your child to feel as though you're on their team rather than just another boss or a teacher bossing them around recently while working at Turning
Point Mental Health Center I've seen a trend the transition between middle school and high school now all of a sudden the middle schooler has more homework assignments has more deadlines and some more classes if your child is feeling the academic stress that I've noticed as a clinician please give us a call or go to our website at turning pointmhc.com [Music]
