In this video, I'm going to show you how to use AI to create a simple digital information product to sell on Gumroad, and it all starts with this email right here that I wrote to my list today. Now, inside of this email, what I did is I talked about dabbling a little bit in baseball card collecting. But what I want to focus on is the idea of imagining or envisioning that you create a straightforward PDF guide packed with everything a collector needs to know about identifying fake baseball cards.
In this email, I outlined a simple three-step process. Now, there's a link in the description that will take you over to this offer; this is my three-module workshop, and it identifies this exact three-step method: pinpoint a problem, create a simple smart solution, and then post the solution for sale. But going back to this email, first, to back up a second, if you're not on my email list, you're missing out on this great actionable information that I send out.
With that, understand that you are looking for something to create an information product on, or a digital product, and you want to sell it on Gumroad. In this case, I outlined the simple process, and, as I said here, I'm breaking down the steps to make the process so it doesn't feel so daunting or overwhelming, and more doable. So again, following this simple three-step roadmap — link in the description: pinpoint the problem, create a simple smart solution, and then post a solution for sale.
I went over to ChatGPT and am going to use this prompt to kickstart this product creation. I wrote this email to my list today, but now I want to dive deeper into this idea of creating an offer or information product, and that should be an offer, not “and offer,” but it doesn't really matter; ChatGPT will figure that out. I want to create a PDF and sell it on Gumroad based on this simple idea and the three-step roadmap.
Can you help me? Your prompt will be very similar, except you read this email that I sent you. You read it, you want to use this simple three-step process, go back to the email, and simply copy it.
Then, bring that back and paste it into ChatGPT again with the idea that you read this email today and Gary gave you a great idea for an information product. You want to see how this works with AI, and you're going to go ahead and press send to ChatGPT and let the AI do its magic. Now, understand, as it's crafting this or generating this output based upon your input, the bigger picture here and the big idea that you need to take away from this is that ChatGPT can write about anything.
But understand that when you create your own information product or products and you develop your Gumroad shop or store, you want to take these ideas. You want to pick something; in this example, I used an interest from my past, when I was a kid, about baseball card collecting, and then pinpoint a problem in the baseball collecting or trading space, and then write a solution. Create a simple smart solution for it, and then post it on my Gumroad store to sell.
You take that idea, think of something that you're interested in, and then you use a model called the LDT model, which stands for Learn, Do, Teach. The LDT model is about learning, then doing, and then teaching people what it is you've learned or that you already know. Now that you're learning more about it, you do it, and then you teach it so they can understand that you can actually help them solve their problem.
So we go back to ChatGPT, and we look at what it has created. Creating a comprehensive offer or information product based on your email idea involves expanding on the concept and providing detailed steps and actionable advice. Take note of that actionable advice; you want to actually help people.
Here's a more in-depth outline for creating and selling a PDF guide on spotting counterfeit baseball cards: **Step One: Pinpoint the Problem** - Understanding the pain points - Identifying the target audience - Researching the common issues - Highlighting the risk Then it gives you some example content to kickstart the process, to get the ideas flowing and to get your brain in gear so you can create the content, because in **Step Two**, you're going to create a simple smart solution: - Section One: Authenticity Basics - Section Two: Spotting Counterfeits - Section Three: Expert Advice (adding value). Check this out — you're creating a checklist or a template. **Step Three**: Post the solution for sale — build a Gumroad store.
Here is an example table of the PDF or the contents of the PDF that you're going to create. Now, I got to thinking this is great; this is some awesome information, but what if we could simplify this? Check this out — go over to Gumroad; there's a link in the description.
Just go over to Gumroad and check out their "About Us" page. You know all those great ideas you have? You want to try them — lots of them — and find out what works well.
Sometimes it's harder, overwhelming even, to start with a PDF. So Gumroad has this great idea: don't take risks; that's scary. Play small bets — that's exciting.
Instead of selling a book, start by selling a blog post. So instead of creating full-blown PDFs or maybe thinking that a. .
. PDF is too much like what I do over here at 30-Minute Marketing, where I sell my Simple Truth reports about making money online. I break down aspects of making money online, simplify them, and provide you with the actual truth of how it works.
I've created PDFs, and I've also created full workshops and courses, just like the workshop in the link in the description, to learn how to create these offers. But what if you wanted to simplify it? Do you think it's too scary to write a whole book or a whole PDF?
Why not just write a blog post or a little snippet of information? Take that back to ChatGPT and say, "Cool, now let's pull this back even a step further," using the suggestions from Gumroad that we just read. Say, "We're not ready to write a full-blown ebook or create a PDF about this topic because taking risks is scary.
Let's place a small bet, and instead of selling a book, let's start by selling a blog post. " Then just give that information to ChatGPT again, letting the AI break it down into even smaller components for us. Now, I talk about this in the workshop, and I walk you through all of it over three different modules, so everything you need to know and understand is in there.
But ChatGPT is doing this for us right here in this video. You need to understand that this is a great idea: starting with smaller, manageable pieces of content, like a detailed blog post or a cheat sheet. Just a small piece of information to get you started, perhaps even giving it away to start building an email list.
Understand that this can be a fantastic way to test the waters before diving into a full ebook or PDF guide. Here's how you can transform the idea into a highly valuable, sellable blog post. Now I'm going to show you how to do this over on Gumroad.
I have a Gumroad shop where I'm giving away and also selling PDFs. When you go into your Gumroad shop to set it up (link in the description), pop over to Gumroad, set up your Gumroad shop, and then start creating products. Here, you're just going to select "Products," and when you get inside of "Products," you're simply going to select and start creating a new product.
You’re going to have different types of products here; you’re just selling a digital product. You could set the price—maybe think, “I could sell this for $5. ” Here, I'm going to name it "Blog Post About Baseball Cards" (of course, whatever title you and AI or ChatGPT come up with).
Then you simply come over and hit "Next," which takes you to the next step: setting up your product sales page. I cover that in another video. I'll leave a link in the description, also up here in the cards, about setting this up inside of your Gumroad shop—everything that you want to do.
Basically, you want to put a description here that sells your information—in this case, a snippet, a blog post, a checklist, or a cheat sheet about baseball cards. Okay, we're going to call it a blog post because that is something you can do here. After you create all this information, continue on to the next step, which is the content—this is the product you're going to sell.
After someone purchases your product, they'll be delivered this content. You could make this a PDF, adding that as a downloadable file, or you could also just enter the information directly into the content editor inside of Gumroad. This is the product or blog post you'll sell.
Now, go back to ChatGPT, and in this case, we're just testing this out. Say, "Great, now create a short blog post that I can sell—just hit the highlights, and we will fill in the sections after you write the highlights. " In this case, I'm just showing you this as an example.
Remember, as this is writing this information out, it's just a framework or an outline—highlights for you to understand. This would be a great piece that you could sell, whether it’s a blog post, an informational content piece, a checklist, or something else to sell over on Gumroad. You need to take your expertise and fill in the blanks.
At this point, just copy this. One thing I want to highlight is that when you copy this from ChatGPT, it won't always format it correctly. You might need to come in and use the WYSIWYG editor (What You See Is What You Get) to highlight, bold, change fonts, or do any of that.
Of course, you’ll want to delete anything that’s not directly related to the blog post itself. For example, you don't want it to say "Title. " You don't really need it to say "Introduction"; you can just jump straight into it.
"Section One" may not be what you want to say, right? You might have wanted to say "authenticity basics. " Of course, remember you can also enhance this.
You could build a checklist here; you could link out to other resources; you could add images. But you are just selling this piece of content here. You could leave the call to action and then delete all this information, and you can make this as big or as small as you want.
You can also click here and add more options, and you can also create another page. You could call this "Page Two," and then here you would have Page One and Page Two of the content that you are creating. So it would be literally like a blog post.
But don't get too caught up in any of that; just understand that you are just pasting this information in here, and this is how simple it is to get started with selling an information product utilizing the three-step or the simple three-step roadmap of pinpointing a problem. Understand you're creating a simple, smart solution, and then you're going to post that solution for sale over on your Gumroad store. Here, of course, you would just publish and continue that, and then that would be in your list of products that you see here.
Of course, it's unpublished on my store because it doesn't make any sense for me to publish that blog post about baseball cards at 30 Minute Marketing, which is about making money online. But you would generate your Gumroad store around that whole concept of trading cards, or baseball cards specifically, or any type of trading cards, really. You could create that information and start simple.
Just like they say over at Gumroad: instead of selling a book, start by selling a blog post. That's the whole point of Gumroad—thinking about where you are right now and trying to figure out how you can make money. And again, this all started from a simple idea based upon the email that I sent out to my list.
I'll leave a link in the description; you can read that email and take that and copy that into your own version or into your own ChatGPT to create your own version of what I created here with this prompt. So test this out, let me know what you think, and let me know what you came up with. Also, let me know what hobby or passion you think you can make money with on Gumroad.
And don't forget, link in the description; check out my three-module offer workshop. There is a live case study. If you're seeing this after June 28, 2024, that will be recorded and in the members' area.
Link in the description; check it out. But if you're watching this before Friday, June 28, 2024, get ready for the live, where we will cover any and all questions that you have about setting this up. Because the act of simply taking just a little bit of action and creating a simple information product—not even a full-blown PDF, but just thinking about how could I just create a blog post and sell it with really valuable information—that's the first step, and that's all you need to do.
Link in the description with all the information. Thanks for watching this video, and I'll see you in the next one. Bye!
