W Rank: A Deepwoken Journey

Perma freshy boosted unqualified all terms levied against me time and time again well today we put the haters to rest today we obtain a title owned by less than 1.5% of all of the people who have ever played deepwoken today we obtain W rank but let's rewind a bit what is w rank why do so few people have it and where do my numbers come from well in terms of numbers I simply took the most acquired badge which is obtaining an oath and put it up against the least obtained badge which is W rank oath

sworn has 383,000 people who obtained it and W rank has a measly 6,000 now obviously number one Oaths have been in the game for longer than W Rank and number two there are probably even more people who have played the game who have never even gotten an oath so the real numbers for what percentage of the population of people that have W rank is up in the air at best as for what w rank is well that's where things get a little bit complicated you see when you die in deepwoken you're given a ranking at

the end of it based on how successful you're life was this ranking is based on 28 factors those factors being your power level whether or not you've created a food item whether or not you've caught a fish and finally if you've obtained your resonance now this is a lot of stuff in order to get W rank you probably be unsurprised to know that you need to do all of this stuff but not only do you need to do all of this stuff but you're going to need to do all of this stuff while under several

incredibly hindering modifiers you see before you start your life and deep woken you get to choose Echo modifiers these Echo modifiers make the game harder with the added benefit of getting more Echoes that you can use to get Echo upgrades that being said in order to unlock W rank you need to do all of the things I just said with every single negative modifier enabled these modifiers are as follows double damage from all mobs armor is permanently broken your depth trial is almost corrupted you can't use your resonance all of your Overworld deaths immediately send

you to the depths all incoming healing is heavily reduced you sell items for 25% less all damage received makes you lose notes on hit any fall damage you take is heavily increased you can't receive notes or items from other players you're completely unable to swim and last of all you don't get to choose any of the talents traits or mantras that you get when you increase your power at this point you're probably figuring out exactly why so few people have w rank despite what many elitist players with no perspective may tell you deepwoken is already

a difficult game and so when you take an already difficult game and you throw a bunch of ridiculous modifiers like taking double damage or falling into water instantly kills you yeah it ain't easy so seeing as I was going for w rank I had several strategies in mind number one was the use of a heavy weapon unfortunately right around the time that I decided to to go for w rank was the same time that the developers decided to Nerf the best PVE weapon in the game the Evans spear hand axe that would make life more

difficult but not impossible I also figured it would be smart to attempt to use the vampirism enchantment this makes it so every single hit that I get will heal me a little bit now this was already a massive mistake because I didn't read all of the echo modif fires properly and missed the part where all incoming healing is heavily reduced meaning that my first real go-around for w rank had me extremely gimped using a horrifically bad enchantment for this but finally probably the most important Strat when it came to W rank was playing deep bound

I would say trying to do W rank not playing deep bound is a very large mistake and the reason I say that is because if you're playing deep bound you can almost get out of the depths for free anytime that you may or may not get killed the reason for this the idol of of yunu the idol of yunu lets you use yuno's wish ability anywhere on the map as long as you have an idol one of these options is to escape the depths and the thing about idos of yunu is that if you have

a relatively decent PVE build you can have a different slot that's easily capable of farming the Fairman who has a pretty decent chance of dropping idols and once again since you're playing deep bound if you die you're still granted access to Castle light and in Castle light if you're deep bound you also get access to a bank which means that other slots of yours can put Idols of yunu in there and then you're able to use those Idols in order to escape without having to attempt the corrupted depths trials what it really comes down to

is it removes a lot of the otherwise huge risk that can come with even just entering the city of the drowned now granted deep bound progression can be a little bit of a [ __ ] at the beginning especially in the deluvian mechanism it's ironic because with the double damage I I think the hardest trial of the delvian mechanism is the very first one solely because of how quickly you can get ganked stun locked and die everything past this point is pretty reasonable to fight but when they put a whole bunch of enemies that stack

on top of each other where if you get hit by one you're probably dead it gets real rough real fast fortunately at this point you're almost certainly not very far along but it's still incredibly frustrating to have to reset now the final Strat that I had when it came to W rank was trying to manipulate the talent RNG the best that I could you see talents are always based on whatever stats that you have put into your character and by going specific Paths of stats I limit the talent pool that the RNG can give me

and I can attempt to get talents that I otherwise might randomly not get if I had a more even stat distribution the main two talents that I'm going for are conditioned Runner and ghost conditioned runner for very obvious reasons and ghost for the Scion of eon pretty much exclusively and of course because shrines are still enabled despite all of the negative modifiers if I'm not able to pull these specific talents I can use deep bound to enter the shrine of yunu and then in there are all of the deep shrines which I can then use

to get the talents that I need it also helps me swap out trait cards which I'll be needing because I'm not using an Attunement I figured if I use an Attunement and rely on the RNG for the mantras it's just not worth it so I'll take the few extra stat points of not running an Attunement once all of my pre-planning was done I put together a nice handy dandy list in Photoshop of all of the things that I needed to finish so that way I could check them off as I went and so I exited

the delvian mechanism at power level 11 my first order of business was obvious I wanted to get to Castle light so I could get the hell out of the depths while I was at Castle light though I had two other things to do I quickly cooked up a piece of food in order to knock that off as well as I modified a mantra these are easy so getting them out of the way right away why not the second thing that I did was I had a realization that I could go to the Deep shrines early

and knock out some talents as well as change some traits around to make my life easier so I headed over there and decided it would be best to reroll all of my traits into proficiency and health considering that song Chan and Eder Edition would be borderline if not completely useless when I'm doing this run I also rolled for some of the talents that I was going for but was mostly unsuccessful with all of my depth stuff pretty much handled for now I headed back up to Castle light popped an idol of Yun and it's time

to get to [Music] work my first order of business was actually not on the list of w rank things I wanted to get an immortal Helm that way if I got brought down to one Health I would have a second chance at life so the first thing that I ended up doing was heading straight to Miner and going to the Crypt of The Unbroken and um while I was here I ran into a bit of a problem yeah uh [Music] whoops after re breaching the surface I had a realization that I was a complete idiot

and there was literally no reason that I should have been doing this on my w rank slot so I went on a different slot farmed until I got another Immortal Helm and then sent it over via the bank for my next step I needed to head over to the Fairman because I was planning on using him to level myself up to power level 20 on the way there I'd be passing the song Seeker Wilds which has several Minds with pure ore potential all around extremely easily I found some pure gold and handed it into the

blacksmith check it off as I said already I was heading to boatman's watch to kill the Fairman and kill the Fairman I did at this point I fought this guy a ridiculous amount of time so this was pretty much a cakewalk after I killed the Fairman several times and got all the way up to power level 20 I figured because I was so close to the void sea why not take on the dread serpent now granted by this point I had never fought the dread serpent before so I didn't know what to expect I headed

out into the sea popped the item to spawn him and well man that was cool because I had already leveled myself up to power level 20 I figured there was pretty much zero reason not to at least attempt the layer 2 stuff while I was already down here I would have to do it eventually so why not knock it out now and after all I had done layer 2 a ton of times up until this point so initially I was really thinking that the double damage and the extra damage I'd be taking with no armor

would not be that huge of a deal I talked to Claris as usual and descended into layer 2 all things considered it was set to be a pretty standard layer 2 run with the caveat of the fact that while I was down here I also needed to get the Deep Shore fossil that would mean that on top of clearing floor one I would also need to open up the gax shrine get all of the divers journals unlock the union hook and defeat Chaser none of these things are things that I haven't done before so I

made quick work of pretty much every single task on here well that's what I wish I could say because when I got to Chaser things got pretty out of hand pretty quickly you see the thing that you will pretty much always under estimate while doing challenge runs like this is nerves despite the fact that I had fought Chaser several times up until this point and could usually kill him taking minimal to almost no damage I couldn't shake the fact that number one my li Hook was just about gone since I had spent such a long

time doing all the Deep Shore fossil stuff and the fact that if I messed up even a single timing I would be taking a ton of damage all of these things combined would prove to be an extreme Challenge as I ran into one major issue play too safe and getting tunnel visioned you see because I was so worried about getting killed by Chaser I took forever to do anything whether it be destroying the blood Jars or attacking Chaser himself I also didn't notice until much later that because of the double damage that I was taking

this little knockback hit that Chaser does at the very end of his vulnerability phase does just enough damage to cancel out my chains of perfection without the double damage equipped the chains of perfection ction is not lost by this knockback hit so this is a mechanic that only affects you if you're doing W rank what it came down to is that I had less than half health and like a minute left on my light hook I knew that if I brought Chaser down to his Final Phase I'd probably just get killed by The Tick damage

because I wasn't sure how much it would do with the double damage and no armor so I weighed my options and picked the safer path activating the light hook and ascending back to layer one now here's where I did the smart thing I waited around for 20 minutes and got my 20-minute light hook back this would mean that I could waste as much time as I wanted on Chaser and be as much of a coward as possible and still get past and if I didn't get past I'd be fine just sending myself back up to

layer one again I was playing decently well against Chaser but unfortunately two bouts of complete cheese would lead me to popping my bell when I really didn't want to and effectively wasting it I was really hoping to hold on to this but it is what it is there are only really two stressful moments when it comes to Floor 2 if you know what you're doing the first is this moment right here as you're exiting the sewers these guys can do a boatload of damage and if you screw up this jump that's game over and the

second issue of course is the Scion of eon himself I was hoping that the Scion fight would be really easy because generally speaking I don't have any problems with it I also had ghost at my disposal which means that the biggest threat to me his big AOE blast could basically not touch me whatsoever this would prove true until I second guessed myself and accidentally dashed the wrong way losing almost all of my health to an attack that should have otherwise been extremely easy to avoid Health backs would easily be able to cancel out this damage

though and I was once again pretty much at full strength I've got full health and there are two cier guards guarding this little pillar I have the pillar already activated so there's no real reason for me to attack these guys along with having full health but they were kind of annoying me so I ran into to take them out yeah that just happened I'll just let me at the time speak for myself why did I do that oh I'm so stupid I'm so stupid I'm so [ __ ] dumb [ __ ] [ __ ]

[ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] so as you can probably guess I was um not happy about this result Not only was I not happy about this result but just take a look at what happened directly after this happened to [Music] me wait what no no what the [ __ ] am I doing oh my God what am I doing what the [ __ ] is wrong with me why why what the [ __ ] why actually [ __ ] why you piece of [ __ ] yep killed for

absolutely no reason by some [ __ ] removing several of the items that I had just passed down to myself from the previous death [ __ ] awesome as you can probably guess I was pretty pissed off and because I was so pissed off I basically threw out the entire Fancy spancy Photoshop checklist figuring that I would have to do this again and again and didn't want to keep having to reset the thing so I not only made an extremely barebones one on a notepad document but I also just stopped recording some of the minor

accomplishments that I needed to get because I figured I'd have to keep doing them over and over again because of that this second real attempt at the W rank is lacking some stuff regardless we still have plenty to work with and the first thing on the docket was the dread serpent while I was at boatman's watch killing the Fairman once again something that obviously I succeeded in I heard someone fighting The Dread Serpent and considering how the dread serpent went last time I decided it would make a hell of a lot more sense to go

see if this guy would let me help him kill it sure enough he seemed to have no problem with me joining in so after far far longer than it probably should have taken we faed The Dread serpent no problemo my next step considering that I was still in the Eastern luminant was to take on the primon as many of you have seen this guy had been a real problem for me in the past but now I was going to go take him on with no armor and double damage brilliant I shopped around for a server

that would be halfway decent found one and summoned the padon now the beginning to this padon fight went uh really really well of course if you classify getting killed almost instantly as really really well but I lived I fled immediately to the cliffs to put down a campfire and make things better for me it was while I was up here where I realized a problem remember how I said I shopped around for a server that would be solid for fighting the padon well this doesn't exactly look like a solid server now does it I am

fairly certain that the act of having the primon on the map increases your ping by at least 50 this is a game issue that I hope the developers can fix if they end up seeing this video I'm not sure what causes it but it's kind of a problem regardless when I finally fully healed myself I dropped back down the cliffs to take on the padon once again this time around with a much better success rate as you probably noticed by now I swapped out the vampirism enchantment for Providence Thorns the Providence Thorns enchantment is really

good for PV e as it makes it so that every single time you parry an enemy they take damage as you can probably imagine for something like the primon that's constantly attacking you and doesn't have that many windows of opportunity to attack this enchantment is very good against him after chipping him down further and further eventually I did manage to take him out after I finally killed the padon I made my way to the shore and was about to summon my boat to get on to the next challenge that was until of course I misclicked

[Music] don't ask me how I did this I really don't know I genuinely couldn't tell you I mean just listen to me why is there no are you sure when you push that button [ __ ] minus one more item of you and great and you know what's the best part of accidentally using this call of the deep the best part is what happened almost immediately afterwards I was sailing and it felt like it was taking forever to get anywhere I figured it was because of the Ping so I logged out of the server to

log into a new server and well are you [ __ ] kidding me that did not just [ __ ] happen that did not just happen why this game [ __ ] hates me there's this is has never happened before until I started using the thing that kills you when you go in the water I have never had this happen until water kills me what the [ __ ] all right so [ __ ] aside my next step was that I wanted to take out the Duke the ironic thing about Duke Arisha is the fact

that he's the hardest boss for me to fight I know that probably sounds hilarious and I know it's going to give a shitload of ammo to all of The Herder Perma freshy [ __ ] but really the Duke is just the guy fought the least I mean really there's basically zero reason to fight him nowadays the loot that he gives is pretty much garbage the XP that he gives is not worth it compared to just doing the Fairman so I have no reason to fight him and so I don't because of that when I got

to the Duke I was very ill prepared I was hoping my Providence thorns on top of my heavy weapon would be more than enough to just carry me through and simply stat check as you can probably assume by the way I'm talking about it that's not how it went wonderful when I went to go do Duke a second time I ran into two people that were also doing the Duke I figured if there's a Duo already doing it I'm already pissed off and while my initial intention was to solo as much of this stuff as

possible I'm not going to deny the help especially after all of the BS that I've had to go through to get to this point to begin with so I asked them if I could join and they happily took me along with them this ended up being an extremely drawn out fight probably because there were three of us here and one of us was mostly useless at this point I was getting extremely close to completing the W rank challenge I was at power level 20 off camera I had already crafted a food item I had caught

a fish modified a mantra turned in the pure ore done the attribute flask crafted a master armor Unbound an attribute obtained an oath soulbound and used an enchant Stone interacted with and Enchanted an item from lapas and obviously used a wish from yunu because of this the only things left on my journey W rank were to complete the entirety of layer 2 get the Deep Shore fossil do layer 2 floor 1 without a li hook get my resonance complete Hell mode and win a game of chime of conflict I figured the best place to start

would be the place that literally just killed my run previously so it was time to re-enter Layer Two there was no BS when it came to the Chaser fight this time around and so I started his Final Phase with more than enough Health to just tank all of the damage once Chaser was dead it was time for Floor 2 the ethon fight in floor 2 may be one of the most stressful things that I've ever gone through while playing a video game you see in my absolute genius I forgot to go to a deep Shrine

and get Ghost before coming in here without ghost at the time I had absolutely no idea how to counteract the Scion's giant AOE attack when he shot it the first time it dealt half of my health bar you can probably imagine the panic setting in when I realized that if the Sion does this attack twice I'm dead this Panic immediately led to me taking several bits of damage that I definitely would have avoided had I not been stressing out I got a health back but soon enough I was once again down to half health and

then even less than half health I did eventually open up the path to the second floor but then I missed time to Parry because well I was stressed the hell out once again I'm lower than half if I get so much just breathed on by any of the Scion's attacks I'm dead and that's when he starts to do it another AOE this time around I time it slightly better not chunking half of my health but still losing a fair bit I once again fail miserably to Parry an extremely easy to Parry attack and I'm solely

alive thanks to the immortal Helm from earlier right now I'm on a sliver and immortality is on cool down if I screw up anything I'm dead while on my way up to the Third floor I get extremely lucky as right as my immortality cool down goes away I proc it a second time once again on a sliver of HP what's next is nothing short of horrifying I've got barely any health I get blinded and once again I hear the Scion charging the AOE attack this time around though I have an idea that AOE attack has

to actually reach me it's a physical projectile and sliding down Hills is really fast so if I slide down the ramps of the Arena I can potenti avoid all of the damage I head to the ramp try to slide down and immediately get stuck proing immortality a third time damn good thing I got that helmet huh my immortality luck would eventually dry up as I screwed up trying to Parry an attack and would have died if I wasn't saved by my residence I acknowledge that this could potentially be a problem and realistically if there was

any time that my bell was going to need to save me it was here now with full HP I was ironically even more stressed out because that Bell would not be saving me a second time I stunned the Scion and went through the first damage phase without too much issue once he broke free here comes the AOE again and there's no ramps in sight thankfully one of the Cure guards is Right nearby so I tank a little bit of damage take him out and I'm back to decent HP it's pretty much business as usual until

I'm trying to put the final bone into the final pillar on the first floor there's a cier guard right near nearby that I can use for health and the Scion is charging the AOE attack I figure no big deal I've dodged a lot of these so far and then gotten the health right afterwards but for some reason I get stuck and the AOE attack does a ridiculous amount of damage despite me thinking I dodged it I still got the health pack though so we're not out of the fight quite yet it was at this point

that I would finally put my strategy to successful use and completely Dodge one of the aoe's I use the ramp and not a scratch on me I wish I could say that this new found knowledge that I could actually avoid the attack made me a bit less stressed out but that would be a lie I flubbed another Parry against probably the easiest attack to Parry despite all of this though I would come out Victorious the Scion of eon would die and I would finally Escape new Kira with the Box checked off for w rank now

you know that if you're ever stupid enough to do this for yourself for the love of God God get Ghost so that doesn't happen to you my next order of business was easy enough I needed to complete floor one of layer 2 without a light hook I'd already completed floor one so many times that I wasn't that worried I gunned it straight to Chaser and when I brought Chaser down to his Final Phase I had full HP no problemo while I was down here I pulled the dark steel Greatsword and decided to apply the porry

potent alloy so that way I could knock that off for my checklist as well at this point we only have two things left in order to obtain W Rank and these two things would prove to be absolutely disastrous which In fairness is part of the reason why I left them until the end I didn't want to do them you see the second to last accomplishment that I need to do for w rank is to win a game of chime of conflict just kill me now for those who may not know chime of conflict is effectively

the competitive 1V one game mode for deepwoken and as you can probably L guess I am at a severe disadvantage in chime of conflict while using a build that's almost entirely based around completing PVE lacks an Attunement completely and on top of all that has no armor which means that I'm taking upwards of 30% more damage than I otherwise would yeah needless to say we've got a problem that problem made even bigger because the developers of this game have no soul and made it so that way if you lose three times in the chime of

conflict you get sent to the depths [ __ ] awesome thanks guys heyy so um uh about that whole soulless Dev thing um listen uh I I can't I can't save this one sorry I'm not exaggerating when I say that playing chime for w rank is some of the least fun and most frustrating gameplay I've ever had playing any video game in my entire life it made me so mad that I'm legitimately too embarrassed to show some of the moments that I had on camera to put it into perspective this is some of the more

tame reactions I had to this suffering who the [ __ ] thought this would be fun oh we'll force them into PvP with a [ __ ] [ __ ] ass build they can't [ __ ] pick themselves why [ __ ] regardless to all of the [ __ ] out there that commented on my chime video L Eclipse just get good why is your build so bad and then I told them well if you don't know why my build's so bad then you don't know as much as you think you know well congratulations now

you know the reason my build was so bad was because this is a required accomplishment for w Rank and if you didn't know that and then simultaneously called me an idiot well you're probably looking really really stupid right now now regardless of everything throwing my head against the wall over and over and over again against things that I had no clue how to fight eventually I got put up against someone that was just as bad as I was thank [ __ ] God oh my God oh my God oh my God I won a game

it's over oh look at the loot it's so [Music] good oh I hate this [ __ ] game oh whoever designed the chime system can so now we move on to the final accomplishment for w rank Hell mode if you don't know what Hell mode is B basically if you get five players together and you all ring a bell in the corner of the depths it will increase the spawn rates of mobs by an exponential amount depending on how many people rung the Bell you'll need to kill 100 to 130 maybe 150 of the enemies

that are spawning these enemies that are spawning are no joke needless to say naod Don and brood Lords Galore up until getting to Hell mode I was solely using the in-game resources to accomplish my tasks what that meant was while I did get help from people occasionally like the dread serpent or the Duke I wasn't going out of my way to ask anyone for help Hell mode on the other hand well this isn't really an option anymore I can't even start Hell mode without five people ready to go and the odds of finding five people

in a layer one server themselves that are not only willing to do Hell mode but do it with one less person because spoiler alert I'm going to be hiding like a [ __ ] yeah easier said than done because of that the the first thing that I did was I went to the deepwoken Discord and tried to use lfg to get a game there for whatever reason there was just nobody looking for Hell mode and I couldn't do it I would soon learn why that was the case my secondary option was of course to get

some friends to help me so that's exactly what I did I went into the aring staff chat added some of my friends that I knew played deep relatively regularly and asked if they knew five people that could help out sure enough eventually we got enough people to start [Music] when Hell mode started however we ran into a bit of a problem Hell mode didn't work yeah go figure the very last thing on my list of things to do and it literally didn't function when I went to go do it for whatever reason when you activated

Hell mode for about a week and a half it just didn't increase the spawn rates on mobs the timer would still tick down if you killed enemies but you also had to kill the correct enemies if you killed things like jellyfish that didn't count because it wasn't a strong enough enemy despite this I really genuinely believed that there might be a chance that we could accomplish this so for a little over 2 hours we constantly tried to devise plans in order to optimize the farming strategies unfortunately at the end of the day this just wouldn't

end up working out and the worst part about every thing is that at the end of the day it came to a tragic end when my buddy Thon ended up getting ganked by some depths gankers and wiped one of his builds so yeah a really great [Music] day welcome to one week later it's time to complete W rank my friends and I all meet up at the bell I hit it and gun it the goal is simple don't get B down by any enemies and run straight to the shrine of yanu down here if I'm

lucky nothing will spawn if I'm unlucky I might have to fight a NAU Aon or two because of the Rarity of these enemies I've only fought them like once or twice so my confidence of actually fighting one not high at all so really I'm just hoping I can hide out here like a little [ __ ] as my friends do all the work for me everything is going to plan I make my way into the shrine of yunu and now it's up to them as we go forward there are a few scares of people getting

wiped by the events of Hell mode but none of us well none of us until someone decided to be an [ __ ] you see I wasn't there at the time but a random player showed up by all of my friends and used the ardor scream ability this ability not only increases the amount of damage and posture damage taken by people who are affected but it also gives them a PVP combat tag having a PVP combat tag in Hell mode is Paramount to being absolutely screwed as when you're PVP combat tagged you can't get any

health from any of the NPCs you killed and the result th dies a second time despite all of these setbacks though Hell mode is completed and now the only thing left to do is to die and cross my fingers that I didn't screw anything up fittingly because Thon wiped two builds trying to help me he had the honors of final finally ending this character how's h [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] who's the Perma freshy now [ __ ] [Music]
