The view Sunonny Host claims American flags make her feel unsafe. I don't know if you've seen this clip. She's living in the wrong country.
The American flag and it's this is flags that we're talking about. She feels very uns he's a birther. Um the list he falsely accused the Central Park 5.
He is uh according to many people. I mean the fact that is the single dumbest thing I have ever heard. Pat, if I could jump in on this one.
You're saying that the American flag is synonymous with Patrick BD David entered a discussion about Sunny Host and somehow it turned into an unexpected roast session instead of a normal political debate. He started with one criticism, then brought up a detail that completely changed the tone of the conversation. But the funniest part came when he connected the dots and turned an ordinary media discussion into something Sunny probably never saw coming.
Sunonny Host, her husband accused of committing federal insurance fraud in a lawsuit. Oh man, it's just the view. Just a a person the the Sunonny Hansen that we all love from one of my favorite shows.
Uh on I admit I may not have spent as much time in a courtroom as you have. That's a good one. [applause] I was also re the controversy began with something as simple as an American flag.
But within minutes, PBD had shifted the conversation to patriotism, politics, family history, polling data, and one uncomfortable question. Why would someone feel threatened by a symbol seen all across the country? Do you think you'd get the job that you have if you were 80 lbs heavier?
Well, they give it to Do you think No, but but no, but Whoopi is actually a lot older. But Whoopi is a very very very very famous individual, an actress. She's made it.
Okay. But do you think Sunny gets the job if she's not that attractive? No.
[music] Do you think Sunny woke up one day and look like that? How hard do you think Sunny works out? How hard do you think Sunny goes to the gym the way she takes care of her body?
I'm sorry, Sunny. How hard is it to look like you? So why shouldn't we have that expectation of them?
Why are you playing a victim for these other guys? I'm feeling sorry that David didn't need a complicated argument when Sunny became the topic of discussion. All it took was one comment from her, an American flag, and a few minutes of airtime for the conversation to turn into a political roast that only got more uncomfortable.
Most important issue is education. Guys, we got to get smarter. And there is no better professors than uh the ladies on the view to teach us about the solar eclipse.
Play this clip because she's educating us that even Whoopi almost walked out. Evening. We've got a solar eclipse.
Uh, we've got the hallway. She ran down the hallway. The rapture is here.
Rapture is here. And then also I learned that the sicatas are coming. Cicas coming.
Well, this is what I do. [laughter] Different kinds of every 17 years. What started with Sunny explaining why American flags in certain communities made her feel unsafe quickly turned into a bigger debate about patriotism, political identity, and whether the American flag had somehow become a political warning sign instead of a national symbol.
And Patrick Bet David clearly wasn't buying that argument. We have to we have to know that this is accused. All accused.
Yeah, all accused. But he's in the RICO. This is a big RICO case that her husband's in.
Tom, what are your thoughts? give you a different perspective. Well, well, I think date night was Sunny and her husband are being a little interested.
How'd it go today? Oh, it was terrible. I had to read this legal statement into a camera and I do what they told me.
And her husband's like, "So did I. I had the same day. " Now he's just accused and the this accused in a lawsuit after some time of during a value tamement segment published in July 2026.
Patrick Bet David reacted to a clip of Sunny explaining that seeing American flags in certain communities sometimes made her feel unsafe. She argued that some people had linked the flag to white supremacy and turned it into a political weapon. Patrick immediately challenged that idea, arguing that there's a clear difference between a national symbol and extremist symbols.
His co-host joined in, adding humor to the criticism. They pointed out that seeing an American flag outside a house might make people assume the residents are conservative. Not because the flag belongs to one party, but because conservatives have become more comfortable displaying it publicly.
Figure out these days. At first, it's so I thought because my ears I I thought she said American something else. I didn't think it was.
You thought I was missing the L. The only L that is going on here. How was the LGBT community responding?
afraid of Richard Simmons, but she was talking about flag, the American flag. Countries have flags. And and by the way, when you see a house, you're driving in a community and you see an American flag.
What percentage of the time do you say that's a conservative? That distinction matters because the debate is bigger than the flag itself. Patrick and the Value Tamement Crew argued that liberals had given up some of the public symbols of patriotism, allowing conservatives to embrace them more openly.
Over time, that made some people associate the American flag with one political side, even though it belongs to everyone. That was the contradiction Patrick wanted to highlight. The American flag isn't Republican or Democratic property.
It represents the entire country, making the idea of feeling threatened simply by seeing it a difficult argument to defend. But Patrick wasn't finished because one controversial statement apparently wasn't enough material for the episode. Sunonny Host, her husband accused of committing federal insurance fraud in a lawsuit.
Oh man, it's just The View. Just a person, the the Sunny Hawson that we all love from one of my favorite shows uh on The View. And it's always Tom, what you always say?
It's always the people that always do the pointing and it's always it always comes back to them. All right. So when you said this is the largest RICO case ever filed in the state of New York, you guys put let wrap that wrap that around your around your brain.
That's bigger than the mafia case. Like the mafia one was number one. This one takes it over.
So he was scamming. The discussion then turned to Sunny's family history, making the roast more personal. Patrick's team brought up her discovery that her ancestors had historical connections to slaveolding in Puerto Rico and Spain.
Sunny had previously expressed surprise and explained how learning about her ancestry changed her view of her family's past. To be clear, Hoston herself was never accused of owning slaves. The discussion focused on her historical ancestry, not her personal actions.
Patrick's team used the story to highlight what they saw as an uncomfortable contradiction, criticizing America's past while discovering difficult chapters in your own family history. That contrast gave Patrick an opening to Bush's larger argument about hypocrisy, turning the discussion about American flags into a broader debate about historical judgment and political double standards. Play one of the clips with the view with what Sunny is saying.
Okay. Not the other one. Play the one with what Sunny is saying.
And this is very weird to the point that, you know, one of the co-hosts had to interrupt. Rob, if you want to press play, go ahead. Kind of weird into the demographics because uh black women tried to save this country again last night.
92% of black women voted for uh the vice president. You have Latinas in the 70 percentile voting for the vice president. What we did not have is white women who voted about 52% right uh for Donald Trump, uneducated white women.
The real disagreement was about whether America's flaws should change how people feel about their national identity. Patrick's view was simple. A country's problems don't mean people should stop feeling proud of it.
that made his criticism of Sunny much bigger than the original TV clip. The debate wasn't about whether America had problems. It was about whether one political group should be allowed to change the meaning of the American flag.
Patrick argued that people shouldn't surrender a national symbol just because certain groups use it politically. Instead, they should reclaim it and remind everyone that it belongs to the entire country. She's allegedly doing something like this.
You guys would know if your wives were up to some nefarious stuff. And let's just not forget who she is. She's been for years lecturing America about morality, inequality, systemic failures, and look at her track record.
How many times has she had to go on in the past two months and look at the camera and do a legal apology for for all the stuff that she said on the show? And then she also on Trump's win calling uh the the the loss because of uneducated white women that Trump We have to we have to know that this is accused. All accused.
Yeah. All accused. But he's in the RICO.
This is a big RICO. Just when the conversation seemed to have reached its limit, Patrick introduced something unexpected. Mice, the discussion turned to experiments in which male mice were exposed to a certain sense alongside an unpleasant experience with researchers later studying responses in future generations.
Patrick used this research to raise a bigger question. Can fear and anxiety pass through families and cultures? The connection was more relevant than it first seemed.
People inherit more than physical traits. They also grow up hearing family stories, historical grievances, and warnings about certain groups. These experiences can shape their views before they ever meet someone from those groups.
While inherited stories can help people understand their history, they can also influence how they see national symbols, institutions, and strangers. That's a 2450. It used to be 2400.
Congratulations, Everybody Hates America. They've reduced the price to $450. Talk about save that money.
If you want to leave the country, now's a great time to get a great deal on a one-way trip out here. Let me tell you this story. It's one of the best stories.
Parents, this is very important for you and I to think about. There's a reason why I keep talking about the future looks bright. In 2013, they did a study at Emory University.
Guy named Brian Diaz and Carrie Wrestler. That's where the flag debate becomes more complicated than a simple fight between conservatives and liberals. If someone grows up hearing that a symbol is threatening, they may develop a genuine fear of it.
But feeling uncomfortable doesn't automatically mean the symbol itself is dangerous. Patrick's larger point was that politics has become so powerful that some people see political identity before national identity. Instead of viewing the American flag as something that belongs to everyone, they immediately connected to one political group.
The irony is that national symbols are supposed to unite people despite their differences. Instead, politics has turned them into symbols of division, creating arguments over who has the right to use them rather than what they were meant to represent. From um taxi drivers, Uber drivers, and lift drivers, he was performing unnecessary surgeries and then providing fraudulent medical services in exchange for the kickbacks.
Here's a clip uh I want you guys to see of Sunonny Haw on the view Tom basically implicating her husband. The dumbest person on the view is in trouble. According to this article, Dr Emanuel Host husband of the view co-host.
That's why Patrick's criticism of Sunny resonated with his audience. His point wasn't simply that she should like the American flag. He argued that when people reject symbols because certain political groups have adopted them, they risk handing those symbols over to the very people they disagree with.
If conservatives proudly display the flag while liberals avoid it, the symbol can start looking conservative even though it belongs to the entire country. You can oppose conservative politics, criticize the government, condemn racism, and still feel proud of America. That's what made the discussion bigger than Sunny herself.
Her comments sparked a debate about race, history, patriotism, political division, and who gets to define what America represents. Suspended from the view for Holocaust remarks. This is a variety story.
Okay, this is a variety story. Um, Whoopi Goldberg has been suspended from the view for two weeks after facing wide criticism for remarks that the Holocaust was not about race. Goldberg suspensions suspension was announced in statement released uh by ABC News public relations Tuesday night.
Effectively immediately, I'm suspending Whoopy Goldberg for two weeks for her wrong and hurtful comments. Read a statement attributed uh to Kim Godwin, president at ABC. While Whoopi has apologized, I've asked her to take time to reflect and learn about the By that point, Patrick was no longer just criticizing Sunny.
He was challenging how Americans view national symbols. What started with an American flag moved into politics, family history, inherited fears, and even experiments involving mice. It sounds like the strangest political podcast ever.
But one question connected it all. How much should fear and political associations shape the way people view their country? Patriotism doesn't mean ignoring America's history of slavery, segregation, or injustice.
But acknowledging those dark chapters doesn't mean every American symbol must be viewed negatively. What began as a debate about feeling unsafe around American flags had become a much bigger discussion about patriotism, political division, and who gets to define what America represents. And Patrick Bet David was more than happy to bring that controversy into the spotlight.
