M Abyss is one of those shows that you just don't forget from its beautiful senior to its variety of characters I mean look at [Music] it but what is it about why did K-pop stars get canceled for liking it and why do the characters have such a childlike art style to them don't worry we'll get to that M abys was released in 2017 alongside big hitters like attack on 10 second season my hero Academia second season and land of the lustrous so to say it had competition would be fair however made to me was the
clear winner from its soundtrack to its visuals it genuinely felt like I was a part of the world when I was watching it I cared about the characters and the story sometimes beat the [ __ ] out of me for it it has its issues which we'll get to shortly but those don't take away from the amazing experience I personally had main Abyss has bought this giant hole with seven layers to it called The Abyss it's in the middle of an island people are oddly intrigued by it and to this day we have no idea
what truly draws them in could be the riches that are promised to those that reach deep inside or could be the thrill of Adventure the abyss isn't exactly a safe place though the place eminates sort of beauty whilst also being very honest about its Danger through the Exotic creatures that inhabit the place with each layer you descend to comes a side effect a curse that hits you when you try to ascend these range from nausea to bleeding out of every Orphus to Eternal suffering so yeah not a very sick nasty place in comes Rico our
main character she's curious naive and has a terrible knack for survival instincts but what she does have are book smarts you see that [ __ ] yeah she knows how to make food out of it you see that bird yeah she knows everything about them she's someone who's so intrigued with the abyss she's made it her life goal to reach the bottom and eventually meet her mother which is very Shonen this brings us to our other main character regg he's a robot is the muscle of the group and is considered a supreme Treasure of the
Netherworld which basically just translates to he's a very special boy he has a connection too's mom and also climbed from the bottom of the Abyss because he's a robot and doesn't get affected by the curse he's also the savior of the show I don't know what i' do without this tin boy cuz man R was just pissing me off at a certain point so with their main characters established we met with this very heartfall goodbye that's accompanied by the main theme this [ __ ] made me a bit sad the fact that this group would
never be together again and how this would eventually become instant memory for everyone was extremely Bittersweet and Well Done anyways here's some [ __ ] lasers when I tell you the art in this show is movie quality I mean the art in this show is movie quality from characters walking through the ghetto to the giant mushroomland every single place has a story to tell the world feels alive despite us not even exploring half of each layer take for example and I know this is an unfair example but the world of Demon Slayer it feels like
going from one city to the next happens out of plot relevance and not because the author actually cared about the setting now compare it to this [ __ ] and we don't even Explore a quarter of this place you hear that soundtrack yeah it's Heavenly isn't it made by Kevin penin after to say as a bad nerd my God it's beautiful the ostd he made fits every scene perfectly and I don't think there's even a way to make it better than it is one second it's this lighthearted tune that exudes curiosity and innocence the next
second it's filled with tragedy and suspense the range of emotions this ostd fills is immeasurable and I'd say this is probably my favorite anime soundtrack of all time not including hisi stuff because that's in his own field called jibli the character design is so different from the werin making it almost alien but it's also fitting it makes us care for our characters more the world they're in is messed up and we don't like seeing cute things die or get hurt for that matter it adds on to the suspense take the character art from a series
like Attack on Titan and plop them in this world suddenly it seems less dangerous our characters look more accustomed to the place and while it fits with the rest of the world's realism it doesn't fit with the actual feeling that the show is trying to convey suspense now unfortunately things aren't as simple as I put them as tushi the author of the series is really [ __ ] questionable and that's putting it lightly the dude's a bit of a PDF file and and it's pretty obvious I mean look at his manga illustrations don't actually don't
do that don't don't do that just watch the anime Jesus Christ It's s a lot of the show for me and is also why those keep-up Stars I mentioned at the start got canceled it's a shame because the series is honestly one of the best ones I've gone through and it's all set back by this one thing he has this really weird thing for body fluids I won't get too much into it but let's just say that some of the things he chose to put in his story are really questionable it didn't stop me from
enjoying the story itself and the anime adaptation did their best in censoring a lot of little wacky things but showcasing the child character for the sake of realism is just a blade an excuse to project your fetishes onto the viewer not cool dude anyways going forward this video will no longer be spoiler-free I repeat this is not a spoiler-free video from here on out if you like shows with morally questionable characters that tap into that I get it but what the actual [ __ ] side of yourself and are a big fan of the JBL
art style of anime then I think this is a perfect fit for you I think you'll enjoy yourself despite the author's [ __ ] up mind unless you're not a a big fan of Gore in which case don't even consider it also subscribe because 100% of you aren't as this is my first video so hi I'm Haku and I'll be streaming on Twitch every Tuesday and Friday at 7:00 p.m. Pacific time this week I'll be playing alen rings so hey if you're interested in that then come on down and watch please I need viewers and
I need money donate your kidney to me and without further Ado let's go through season 1 for the purposes of keeping this video shorter I'm going to only be hitting the main points of each season this includes the characters their values and the plot points that I feel stand out to me and with that we'll start with our first ever white whistle ozen ozen is interesting she acts like she's indifferent and doesn't care about everyone but we can kind of tell that she's bullshitting I mean if she didn't give a [ __ ] about anyone
why would she take the fboy in and be considered a safe haven for other cave Raiders it just doesn't add up she tells Rico that her mother is dead and they give up on a dream then beats up our main characters and God I wish there were me in the end it was all you guessed it a test woohoo and they failed Olen actually believes that Liza is still alive and believes that with some training they'll be able to make it to Liza at the bottom of the ab this now as for what's happened to
Liza we don't actually know for all we know Liza is actually dead or maybe even worse and personally I'm kind of leaning toward the ladder I'm not going to lie oen despite being the first White whistle that we meet lacks death from what I've heard she'll get more time to shine in later chapters but for now she's kind of just the introduction to White whistles and is a stupidly strong character who is a teacher too and Liza she's also probably the most sane white whistle that we ever meet in this series so yeah there's that
not a very high bar anyways here's oo and reg messing up immediately after their training Arc reg is isn't supposed to use his lasers as it renders him useless so what does he do in a dire situation that can probably be saved by his natural abilities he uses his [ __ ] lasers this leads to re telling Rico to just stay putt until he wakes up from his little nappy nap but what does Rico do instead she hauls his ass through the third layer Dio almost dies multiple times because of this and gets hallucinations of
her hometown and Old Friends due to needing to ascend up a hill which curses her with those hallucinations it was a bit depressing seeing how homesick she was at this point and how they were basically at the point of no return here so even if if she wanted to go home the climb back up is a lot more perilous than the climb down the scene was nice it grounded their characters and helped us remember they're still children despite their Ambitions and Shing personalities but after all that struggle they finally make it to the fourth layer
and this is where [ __ ] hits the fan real quick what the [ __ ] the fourth layer is one of the coolest places I've seen in this world it just has this ominous air and for good reason it's a place where only white and black whistles can really go to and when they do go they're prone to a much harsher curse than the ones before bleeding out of every opening and who better to demonst the terror of this curse than Rico herself this layer is where everything gets a lot darker and also where
I started question whether Rico was actually the main character I mean look she literally like poisoned and she's bleeding out of her eyes it perfectly showcases how lucky they've been so far and how this is most likely the type of death that would occur for anyone else at her age at this depth and remember they're only at the midpoint there's another three layers that need to be traversed thankfully or not depending on how you feel abouto at this point the group is saved by a furry named nanachi and I never thought I'd say this but
this furry saved the show for me wow rare furry W Doo knows a lot about the abyss but she doesn't know everything especially when it comes to the lower layers n that she knows a lot about the Slayer though and helps us understand a bit more about the curses of the abyss and how to afford them not only that but they have a great backstory which is something that's been lacking until now n's back story was really disturbing and I I loved it for that it showcases our next antagonist and it sets him in such
an evil light that I just can't help but hate the bastard we don't really understand why he's doing what he's doing and it's not until the movie that we do learn about it children being turned into sock puppets was not what I was expecting when I was going into the show and damn when midi was finally released it was pretty heartfelt with an amazing performance from nich's voice actress so all in all while the first half of the season was somewhat lacking I have to give credit to the second half where it really explor the
darkness of this world which brings us to I'd honestly say this movie is with a show skyrockets on my list and its introduction is one of the best I've seen in terms of anime it sets up what this movie is going to be like perfectly with how much darker it is from the first season I mean look at this guy he he's [ __ ] look I'm a sucker for fields of flowers dramatic moments and man this intro is up there when it comes to that re and the umand having different philosophies on human life
the realization that even after nanishi left bonu they were still being researched the destruction of one of Liza's favorite places in the abyss the damn visuals my God it all ties together beautifully with this God tier soundtrack and then boom it hits you with another Banger soundtrack right after that and that was only in the first 10 minutes we'll start with our first main character puska despite people believing that she was deceived I personally h on to the idea that she knew exactly what was going on from the brief flashbacks of her performance experiments on
animals herself but because of the love for her dad she disregarded it personally I couldn't find myself getting attached to her character like I did with the maincast I understand it's hard to make someone care for a character after only about 2 hours especially when they're not tied to a character that we the audience necessarily know well like in aot's ovas she was a bit of a flat character with very little development which to be fair is due to her circumstances growing up in a lab the only feelings she was able to convey and develop
were love loyalty and curiosity for the outside world so in turn she comes off as dull but does that really make the way she was written a mistake or was just a product of the main villain's Twisted way of parenting which brings us to the big man himself B is up there as one of my favorite antagonists of all time from his badass design which is always brought up in these types of videos and for good reason I mean look at the drip to his skewed moral compass it's impossible to view him as your average
villain every argument you come up with for him being in the wrong there's a counterargument for him being correct what he does is cruel yes I mean turning children into lunch boxes isn't exactly a normal Saturday occurrence but for bonju it's a necessity the future doesn't look too bright in this way world and the person who will save it is him there's no doubt about that how he gets to his objectives is extremely [ __ ] up he doesn't find joy in his experiments but he also doesn't feel sorrow many villains would do things for
the greater good without collecting the necessary evidence to prove their points think Thanos some would even say he's justified in what he's doing but did he seriously go through all the research necessary to get to that point did he experiment on multiple planets or did he take a small sample size and run with it the reality is some civilizations weren't overpopulated and would have continued healthily had it not been for him hell I'm willing to bet somewhere underpopulated Thanos killed off more than half the universe to satisfy his own theories which had an equal chance
of being detrimental to the universe whereas bondre knows exactly what's going to happen if he doesn't make those sacrifices Bond's goal is more specific scientific and thought out while thanos's goal is a blanket statement with no true foundation other than his own personal experience they are not the same the VA they use in the Japanese dub is perfect I mean it's yosik KAG come on now the indifference this man displays is disturbing and that voice is exactly what you would think he would sound like he's robotic but also gives off hints of actual love and
part of me is convinced that he does actually care about his children just not the conventional way he remembers everything about them that's not something people who don't care do bondre just doesn't feel remorse he didn't just go I could just never imagine this sity of a situation and then started cooking everywhere immediately no he tried and fail on himself animals and adults first before anything else had there been a different way of experimentation he would have done it in a heartbeat even if it was crer in Short Bond is an immoral bastard who we
can all collectively hate but in the world of main Abyss he's a necessary evil but with him taken care of we finally make it to season two of this show is peak and you cannot tell me otherwise here we get dual perspectives and the group has split up more than ever Rico is out exploring the city and meeting the hollows that live in it not she M reunite what the [ __ ] how does that happen and re meets our next protagonist fa another furry God I I love fairies so much while all this is
happening were periodically taken into the past where we meet our other group called The ganja a Suicide Squad whose leaders consist of wo bellof IDI and wakan we start the season off by meeting voo in the past she's one of the three sages and has gone through some pretty terrible [ __ ] she's more kept to herself for good reason and and evidently doesn't have much self-esteem based on her reluctance to lead at the beginning being more of a crewmate than a leader despite her position crewmate among this is until she meets Ed muri whom
she would act as a mother figure towards foro throughout the story has a [ __ ] ton of inner struggle from blaming herself for the death of Ed mri's children to trying to make up for her faults by spending all her time naming them she's obviously not doing too hot in comes decoy to break her out of her prison and the first thing she's asked is a lot of wo's mental gymnastics revolve around this question and it's one of the first things she's asked as soon as she's set free almost like she's being tested whether
vuo is a bad person or not is actually up for you to decide but I personally don't think she's a bad person sure she ate Ed's stillborn children and that's [ __ ] up but what other options did she have it was either that or everyone around her including herself dies an excruciating death this leads us to our other Sage wakon man this guy is [ __ ] he's kind of like bonrud but not really the key difference between them is that wakon kind of cares about the people that he's hurting whereas banre just kind
of goes I could just never imagine this he also does a lot more psychological torture than the physical kind he has a ton of ulterior motives his ambition is on another level and he also uses other people a lot which is in part due to his ability to see into the future or so he claims he's the cause of this whole city existing and is the reason why Edom muui had to suffer as much as she did he's extremely selfish but also selfless too I don't know he's kind of a weird dichotomy he's a wild
card and is someone I actually appreciate in these kinds of stories where they really tiptoe between the lines of Good and Evil in the end what he does he does for his people and his goals he wants to explore the abys and he wants to achieve New Heights or in this case depths he experiments on himself puts himself at risk to save others and does what's best for the greater good he's a slave to fate in the end because of his abilities and so does that really make him the villain or is fate playing some
sort of cruel trick on the Expedition group well yeah in my opinion he kind of is a slave to fate the person who took his skewed moral compass the worst is actually our other Sage belloff belloff is one of the only characters in this entire series who I can confidently say is a good person he's probably one of the first people to ever compliment vole not before alerting her his random M philosophy on beauty but I mean I I kind of [ __ ] with it even though I don't understand it and is a pretty
steadfast pillar when it comes to not losing his mind which makes it all the more eerie when he does lose it Wan's [ __ ] up for this I mean he literally saw how much ID mui meant to wo and bellof and still did this [ __ ] it helps explain why bellof wanted to end it there and why when he does turn into a hollow he's even more messed up after he turned into a hollow he would kind of just sit in his room all day with some of the other holos he also is
the reason why midi is back in the season although it's not really her just a replication because he like the smell of immortality yeah he's he's gone a bit Bonkers poor Nichi though this this furry can't get a damn break when it comes to MIDI I swear to God at this rate they're going to say more than someday anyways this leads to n and she basically being H up for the entire season doing nothing I I mean come on now your friend is out there being a Village Hero while your other friend is being completely
tortured and oh god oh oh oh Greg is being stabbed by another furry who just so happens to be his past partner and Edom mui's child so let's talk about Edom muui this child did not deserve anything that happened to her from being forced to Bear children from her tribe which is already disgusting considering her age to being turned into a tree which would create the city that would make her suffer for way too long it's actually a story straight from hell oh and don't even get me started on her first wish Jesus Christ that
kind of pain is literally Indescribable and to experience it every day at that ages just what what the [ __ ] man what dude like squishy meds the only good things that happened to her were when she met F and belloff and when fapo was born everything else was just pure misery and you can even make a case for fa's birth being miserable too speaking of we finally get to fapa her child fapa wasn't really given any sort of Free Will from birth seeing as she's born from her mother's desire for vengeance and healthy living
for good reason fapa end up being an immortal emo furry with her only objective being to destroy the city and free her mother we get to see her internal struggle with this in her fight with regg as while regg thinks she will stop after he disarms her she ends up snapping back running on pure Instinct R you doofus what are you doing out there you [ __ ] idiot now look what you done obviously this isn't something she necessarily wants to do but again she's born with that one sole purpose however what I find interesting
is that once boff dies and shares his memories with Pap she changes she learns that even though her mother's wishes were for Revenge that in a weird Twisted way she did love some of the people that she was wishing it on she learns that human emotions are complicated and for the first time in her life she sees the other side of this wish Papa's ambition never left she still wanted to destroy the village but with her new perspective on it she realized what was happening was she was destroying her metaphorical family everything that her mother
wanted was here the culmination of U's wishes and the monkey P that came with it it made fa question everything and at the end of it all when fuo passes on and the village is destroyed she cries that sense of purpose the feeling when it's all over when we've achieved the goals we needed in life at that moment can leave you feeling empty what's your purpose beyond that what keeps you going and after all is said and done was it worth it [Music] oh [Music]
