Bill Maher brought on a couple of woke idiots onto his show, Real Time with Bill Maher, and absolutely forced one of them, one of these woke idiots on his show to admit that Joe Biden was wrong and the wrong choice for America.
Bill Maher has been getting more and more based as the days go on, and this episode is no exception to that. Bill Maher forces a woke idiot to literally admit that Joe Biden was the incorrect choice for America. And obviously the only other choice is Donald Trump.
So let's get to this clip here where Bill Maher forces this woke idiot to admit defeat here live on Real Time with Bill Maher. Americans not understand how tariffs work and who ultimately pays the price for them. Americans don't understand how tariffs work.
Thank you. Question. [applause] Okay, Trump keeps saying that he put these tariffs on around uh well, let's say China and that China [laughter] has paid us sometimes he says tens of billions, sometimes hundreds of billions, sometimes trillions.
Tariffs don't work that way. No. When we put a tariff, let's say on Chinese TVs, okay, why don't we say cars?
Because that's what we're actually doing under the Biden administration. [applause] Okay, I read it today. 100% tariffs on Chinese cars.
That makes Chinese cars, which are very inexpensive, uh, competitive now, or I guess not competitive at all, not competitive with American cars. So, why is it why doesn't it not work uh only for Republicans? I don't get it.
because this is what Biden is doing. I I don't know why he's doing that exactly. Uh but I just want to get the concept of what a tariff is down.
Let's do that. Okay. Cuz a lot of people think it's funny how, you know, Bill Maher brings up a great point.
Like, hey, you're about to criticize Donald Trump right now and criticize Republican voters for not knowing what a tariff is. But also, whenever Joe Biden did that same thing, you weren't criticizing anybody. You know, whenever Joe Biden, because he he literally, you know, this is why I respect Bill Maher so She's like, "Well, why don't we just bring up this specific example because it's what Joe Biden actually did.
We're not just talking in hypotheticals here. This is what Joe Biden actually did. " And he's like, "Well, I don't actually want to talk about that because it makes my side look bad.
" Let's get back to Republicans being idiots. Like, these people are just so insufferable, man. It's it's the same playbook.
Like, let's say I'm going to use a different example. I'm going to use televisions. Okay?
Let let's say let's say Best Buy wants to buy a thousand televisions from China, a Chinese te and Trump or whoever has put a tariff on it of 20%. And they're $500 each. So that means a $100 each tariff.
Now according to Trump, he thinks China [laughter] pays the tariff. China doesn't pay the tariff. Best Buy pays the tariff.
Of course. Yeah. And when Best Buy pays the tariff, it has to decide whether to uh pass that on to consumer, their the consumer or maybe cut it in half and make it That's how tariffs work.

Now, let's get back to why you didn't criticize Joe Biden for doing the same exact thing that you're criticizing Donald Trump for doing. Also, yes, maybe, you know, and and look, he could be correct. Maybe a lot of Republicans don't know how tariffs actually work.
That's probably true, you know, because it's not really like, you know, bills have to be paid, man. Like, not everybody can study government, you know, jargon all the time. like like people got to go to work.
People got to take kids to practice. Like shit's got to get done. So, you know, I don't think it's the worst thing in the world if a Republican voter doesn't necessarily know how a tariff works.
But you'd be an idiot to say that this doesn't hurt China. It's not just hurting Best Buy in that scenario, right? Because the fact that the reason why Best Buy and you know car people who want to buy cars or whatever they they want to buy it from China or they want to buy TVs from China because it's cheap cuz it's slave labor, you know, and it's cheap.
And whenever those things no longer become the cheapest option, well, there's no reason to to buy stuff from China because it's poorly made because it's made by slaves and it's cheap and it's not cheap anymore, you know, because it's it's it's taxed. It's tariffed. So, it does still hurt China because people are a lot less likely to use Chinese products if they have to pay extra money in order to use said products because why not just pay the same amount for an Americanmade product that will work way better?
It's a way higher quality. So, it does still hurt China. Although maybe he has a point in that tariffs might not work in the way that Republicans believe that they work.
You know, maybe I I'm not sure. Right. And Trump keeps saying this over and over again.
And I wish this was kind of one of the things that the moderators had been asked during the thing. Is that how terrorists work? No.
No, it doesn't. And and she was right saying it's a [applause] tax on the middle class is is what she was saying. But let's say it's cars.
Yes. Let's say so. No, now it's not Best Buy paying the tariff.

And what I find weird is that there's a ton of people out there that will really attack you if you ever say anything wrong about Donald Trump. And it's just like, am I supposed to pretend that another human being is literally Jesus Christ?
Like, why am I not, you know, allowed to criticize this guy when he's blatantly wrong on certain things? Doesn't make any sense to me. And I refuse to ever fall into that way of thinking.
But that's how so many Democrats are. And they just they they protect their own so much to the point where they're not like they go on Bill Maher on real time with Bill Maher here and you know the guy it's embarrassing like he should be embarrassed about what he just did. You can like he he just got absolutely cornered by Bill Maher for like extremely hypocritical comments.
literally like as hypocritical as you can get criticizing fully Republicans and Donald Trump for doing something whenever he's asked well Joe Biden's doing actually the exact same thing. Here's a specific example and he can't even you know it's he did eventually admit it but it took a lot of convincing from Bill Maher for him to admit that Joe Biden was wrong. It's craziness.

I mean, I feel like it's [applause] it's interest. It's it matters more when the politician isn't wellknown. Like, I don't know if SNL actually plays a big role if it's Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump who everybody knows, but like think about somebody like Sarah Palin.
People actually believe that she said, "I can see Russia from my house. " Because they said it on SNL and it's so believable. Like, people really think that happened.
That's when you have power. Hey, and I show [applause] I used to have a a a lovely lady. I still friendly with her, a Christian.
Um, and she said in 2010 something about she was a witch or she used to be a witch and she because she was running she said that way back on politically incorrect Christine O'Donnell and then she was running for Congress in I think Delaware in 201. Yeah. Oh, the Senate.
Okay. Right. And she got the nomination and I I brought up the witch thing and it I mean I felt a little bad cuz she's sweet but she shouldn't have been a senator.
Um, but like we brought it up on this show a week later there was Kristen Wig on a broom doing [laughter] it. It had passed off to that level where they were she was the witch flying in on the broom. Yeah.
I think comedy and just I don't I don't want to call it independent media cuz SNL is not independent media, but you know, a lot of these these media outlets that aren't NBC, ABC, these sorts of places, I do think they hold a whole lot more power when it comes to these these presidential elections than even the debates themselves or the politicians themselves. how someone is viewed online through parody or or not. I think it holds so much more weight than anything that the the politician could say or do in a debate or in a town hall or anything like that.
It's just it's it's more powerful to be viewed positively by the public on Twitter to be honest with you. It's it's crazy. That's why I think Elon Musk really wanted to buy Twitter because it gains it gains him so much influence with with government.
