I will not be lectured by anybody who supports Donald Trump about the abuse of women ever. So when Republicans try to enter that discussion with me, you cannot unless you are going to say that you are also upset and unwilling to support someone who has bragged on tape about assaulting women. The allegations against President Trump, many of which were um validated in court, right?
Given all of that, I mean, is that disqualifying for Donald Trump? I mean, it's it's tongue tied. Yeah, tongue tied.
Guys, last night on Abby Phillips show, MAGA pundits were absolutely annihilated when they tried to lecture Democrats about morality. Progressive journalist Charles Blow fact checked the MAGA panelist Lydia Moyahan so hard that she was cornered into complete silence. Guys, it makes me laugh that now MAGA would lecture us on morality and ethics and all that family value stuff.
I mean, these people chose the guy to be their president who's literally the most morally bankrupt person in this country. I mean, the kind of stuff he's said about his own daughter on live TV is just insane. And not just his daughter, he said absolutely disgusting stuff about women in general.
And despite all of that, these MAGA idiots have the audacity to lecture Democrats on morality. It's pretty goddamn funny, guys. At this point, I feel like the Republican party has been turned into a mindless cult of brainwashed zombies who lost all their capability to even remotely think for themselves.
And they consider the morally bankrupt Orange Man to be their lord and savior. Guys, if you look at the history and events that have occurred over the past century, you'd notice that Republicans have always been racist and fascist. They've been like this since the inception of their party.
They have a clear bias against women. They have a clear bias against Native Americans. They have a clear bias against any race that isn't white and rich.
The GOP is seriously effed up in their heads. And at this point, I think they're at the point of no return. Now, I'm going to play some clips from the show.
I'll give my opinion as we go. We are just days away [music] now from Maine's primary election and Democrats are facing a dilemma tonight as the party is navigating a series of controversies surrounding Senate candidate Graham Platner. The latest blow published by the New York Times alleging unsettling and in at least one case physically threatening behavior toward his former girlfriends.
Platner denies the accusations and tonight he is plowing forward with his campaign. When hurtful things I said on the internet a decade ago came out into the public as I shared my personal journey through PTSD and darkness of recovery and accountability and growth. Maine had my back.
Now as every single piece of that past and journey gets dug up, litigated and weaponized. You have my back. And when politically motivated, serious and fulk false accusations are made against me, Maine, you have my back.
And he got some backup from Democratic Senator Roana. Listen, he understood [applause] that those years that he came back were not the best years of his life. He was ashamed of some of the things he said and did.
And then he unlike others took accountability for it [applause] and he's worked to be a better man, a better human being. Democrats see Maine's Senate race as a must-win in order to take back the chamber in November. And with Platner on the defense, sources tell CNN people are now urging Maine's governor Janet Mills to re-enter the race after she dropped out in April.
uh it might be a little bit too late and I think many people acknowledge that even if she were to get back into it, she had just suspended her campaign. It may not make a difference. But you know what was notable to me listening to Graham Platner just just now um was just how scripted he was in that moment.
Suddenly he is like a politician just like any other person trying to turn water into wine effectively. Um, and I think that tells me a lot about this particular incident is that it's the same playbook. It's deny, deflect, defend, and then try to move on.
And I'm just wondering if that's okay with Democrats given the circumstances. Was that for me, Charles? [laughter] I'm not a Democrat.
Um, I don't I don't think people are saying that it's necessarily okay, right? So I don't think that any abuse of anyone is legitimate, right, defensible. Uh if what she what these three women allege is true, it is uh condemn condemnable.
But that said, that has to be hap that conversation has to happen with the voters of Maine. I will not be lectured by anybody who supports Donald Trump about the abuse of women ever. So when Republicans try to enter that discussion with me, you cannot unless you are going to say that you are also upset and unwilling to support someone who has bragged on tape about assaulting women.
Guys, all these panelists talking about Planter for his Nazi tattoo is actually very weird for me. I mean, where were you guys when Trump's cabinet members were literally doing the Nazi salute, huh? You guys were literally turning into logic pretzels to defend that.
I wonder if some Democrat had done something like that, these magapundants would have gone mad screaming about it. But now, since it was their own party leader doing all those Nazi salutes, it's totally fine with them. And secondly, guys, people talk about the issues around Graham Planter like he's a frothing at the mouth fascist.
I mean, on every news channel and every news program, everybody is busy discussing how bad and fascist Grand Planter is while completely ignoring the fact that Susan Collins has done more to advance the actual cause of American fascism than nearly anyone else in the country. Why is she getting a free pass? Why is nobody discussing her past?
Why is only Graham Planter being discussed? It just doesn't sit right with me. And as far as Planters's tattoo is concerned, guys, I think he got it because he identified with their ruthless fighting reputation.
Now, I honestly think he wasn't into it for the genocidal acts they undertook. He seems like an edge lord marine who has seriously matured over the last 20 years. I believe that he isn't a Nazi today.
However, his opponent Susan would vote to keep funding Israel and ICE, which is much more offensive than Nazilike to me. Now guys, at the same time, when I'm saying Graham Planter has changed, I'm not saying he's a saint. The guy wasn't vetted at all, apparently.
And the left made a big mistake by ignoring his psychotic behavior in the past. Getting the tattoo was one thing. I can believe he was young and stupid, but he joined Blackwater when he was 34, and he just now covered up the tattoo only after it became a news story.
It does not sit right with me. But guys, now that nothing can be done, Planter is the only guy we've got. Still, if I have to vote between him and Collins, he would be my choice 100 times out of 100.
Cuz at the end of the day, guys, every American with a sane mind knows that any Democrat on any given day is better than a Republican. It's just that simple. But what about the discussion with other Democrats?
Right? That's what I'm saying because other Democrats and it's a primary, so the Democrats make the decision. And when it's over, whoever is against going goes up against Susan Collins, I'm for if you know, if you go to the floor of the Senate when Kavanaaugh has been accused and you say Christine Blloy Ford, you she's she's been traumatized.
This is her words. He's been traumatized. I'm sure she's been assaulted.
However, I do not believe her and I'm gonna vote for him anyway. And in that same speech, she said that Kavanaaugh was not and she assured voters in America that Kavanaaugh was not going to vote to overturn Row. And what did he do?
Exactly that. So, at the end of the day, I'm going to support whoever comes out of that primary. It's interesting you mentioned the Christine Blloy Ford incident and Ro Connor who is speaking tonight at Graham Platner's fun event was very supportive of her and the Democratic ethos for a long time was believe all women believe all women and of course Christine Blloy Ford was lauded.
She was hosted on the view. She was on the cover of Time magazine. She was on CBS.
She was a celebrity for the left and there was no evidence actually to suggest that she had even met Brett Kavanaaugh. And yet the Democrats embraced that hookline and sinker. And now that has changed and it's only changed because the act the accuser against Graham Platner is a Republican.
That is it. There is no difference. The only reason they want to discredit her and the very people who were defending Christine Blloy Ford are now attacking this attack went after Eugene Carol and tried to discredit her because she was a woman attacking a Republican.
Uh is that the same reason? Those accus So you did this on Saturday. You said this on Saturday.
Do you want me to read back what you said on Saturday? Feel free. Oh, please.
Thank you. Thank you. Cuz I come I come prepared.
Okay. So, first thing you said, okay, I would be careful here cuz people have had to pay millions of dollars for making the same comments that you're about to make. Okay.
So, let me let me read animal with the quote. I actually do do think that if you look at Eene Carol's case now, there is a new evidence. There is new evidence coming to light.
She says that Reed Hoffman has nothing to do with it. It turns out that that he may have And Abby had to correct you and let you know and let you know on Saturday what I'm going to let you know today which is that that has already let me just try to distill what this conversation seems to be did actually hold on a second this is not about this is not about Reed Hoffman but I do want to I do want to observe something about this interaction because if you're a a regular non red shirt blue shirtw wearing American And what you're basically seeing is that Democrats have decided that sometimes it's okay to believe the accuser and sometimes it's not. And then Republicans have decided that sometimes it's okay to believe the accuser and sometimes it's not.
And it really depends mostly on the partisanship in the moment. To me, that is like everything that people think is wrong with our politics. And Abby, you saw it on display at Graham Platner's rally tonight.
You had Ro Connor get up and basically say we should believe the women who have come out and disclosed these allegations. And then you had Graham Platner saying the exact opposite that it was a politicized attack. His uh campaign went on the offensive and went after Lindseay Field in that New York Times story.
And so they can't even get their own message straight on the same stage in which they're appearing. So you believe that women should be their story should be credited and they should be believed. Well, you know what, Charles?
I actually worked with Lindsay Field for many years. Um, she was my colleague. I was her boss.
And so in this particular case, yes, I think Lindsay is a credible person and I do believe her. But not Christine Blazy for you don't believe that. Or do you credited it at all?
This is [laughter] I want to ask I want to ask because when you interviewed uh Lindsey Graham in 2018, you didn't ask a single word about her. you had literally prompted him to repeat what he had said in the Senate and did not say anything about the ca the case that she was presenting. I don't believe that you do care about what women are saying.
Oh, okay. Guys, if Maga really wants to discuss his tattoos, people get sick skull tattoos all the time and have no idea it's a hate symbol. I mean, it's very common.
Most people don't even realize what they're getting tattooed on their bodies. And for Planter, he got the tattoo covered as soon as he realized what it was. I really think that everyone should cut him some slack on this mistake.
I've heard a few interviews with Planter on the skull and crossbones tattoo. He has repeatedly said that to him at the time it was a skull and crossbones. Guys, yes, it was a style used by Nazis, but it's also a skull and crossbones design.
A person would have to be pretty educated on Nazi history to understand the difference. And having known some 23-year-old Marines, it's not something I'd expect any of them to know. Honestly, if Planter was actually a Nazi, like these MAGA based claims, there's no evidence to support him having any Nazi sympathies at all.
So, the simple-minded, he had this tattoo, therefore he's a Nazi, doesn't really hold up under any logic. MAGA should really find another reason to smear him, cuz this one is pretty baseless. And secondly, guys, as someone who is a big World War II history buff, I had no effing clue that this particular obscure symbol had a Nazi connection.
So, I mean, that's why I find it far more believable this guy got a random skull and bones tattoo as he claims and later learned it had a Nazi connection than that he was such a huge Nazi he knew he was getting an obscure Nazi tattoo. And guys, as I've said before, Planter isn't a saint. But at least he isn't acting like Hegathth, who got called out repeatedly for problematic tattoos on his body and just doubled down on it.
For those of you who don't know, Hegsth's body is full of controversial tattoos. He has multiple uncovered white nationalist tattoos and some Islamophobia tattoos on his body. But the hypocrisy is that you don't see any uproar about that from any of these MAGAP pundits or any Republican voters.
I can bet on this guys if tomorrow Trump gets a swastika tattoo on his body, these same MAGAPundants would start turning into logic pretzels to defend that as well. I mean, these people are the worst kind of hypocrites. Well, well, let let me ask.
I mean, well, okay, let's just be transparent about this. You don't believe Christine Blloy Ford. Is he right about that?
I think there are many holes that were poked in Christine Blloy Ford for story uh not only by Senate Republicans at the time, but also in all of the information that was revealed. I mean, it was clearly an attempt to try to take down Justice is that Charles. So, Charles, you said the people of Maine will decide.
Sure they will. Right. Do you believe Lindsey Field?
I believe that her story should be should be taken as as a at face value to say this is what she believes. I don't know what it has to be. I I I think it has to be litigated.
We have to look into I mean does But does it I believe so. I believe I believe in every case. I believe in every case because because at the end of the day I mean Brett Kavanaaugh's situation was not going to be litigated.
the the the ask from Democrats was take it at face value and don't vote to that was testimony was testimony was testimony. Yeah, but that's not that's not litigation. That's not testimony in a confirmation hearing investigation.
So the ask was listen to this woman, believe her and vote against his nomination. That was the here's what I'll say. I think to your point, if you feel like you have a blue or a red jersey on, I think we are living in a hypocritical political environment right now.
And it is hard to take any accusation and any stance of moral clarity with any real validity because of who is our current president quite honestly. And I think that he has been convicted by a jury of his peers. He has said he was going he has said called most people everything but a child of God.
And then people are asked to hold themselves to a higher standard than the leader of our nation. And I think that is hard for people because we are all flawed humans. What I will say, and I've been saying this for the last 24 hours, the accusations that came out in this investigation are very disturbing to me.
I will never in this iteration of the political cycle get to vote for uh Graham Platner. Mayors will decide. But what I will say is that sometimes, and the American public actually did this in 2024, sometimes people's immoral character flaws are less consequential to their life circumstances.
And in this instance, I think Mayners are saying Susan Collins is not representing them and the way that they want to be representative. And they are willing to overlook that. And quite honestly, so did 79 million Americans.
So did tens of millions of Americans who voted for Donald. That's what I'm saying. Let me finish.
All I just want to say is the question is in that is why are we there? Why is our why is our economy? Why is our international affairs so turbulent, so unstable that we have to overlook really flawed acts on our leaders because their other people's leadership is worse.
Overlooking those things is a choice. You know, a permissive culture happens when people allow themselves having to feed your kids to engage culture. That's what happens.
But let me I I just want to play the James Carville thing because we you know we heard a little taste of it. But here's how he reads the situation. We got up guy who he could be a hundred times more than he is.
He'd never be as what we got in Washington now anyway. And I I just saw this tutt and we got to do this and we got to be fair. You know, James, if if a Republican did what Graham Platin did, you would be outraged.
Yeah, I would. But what I'm more outraged about and what I have to consider first is this country is about to lose it. The whole god again.
I mean, you could swap the word the name Grand Platner for Donald Trump and it would be the exact same rationale. You would realize that, right? Grand plat are very serious and need to be taken seriously.
I don't think any accusation carries a conviction. They need to be examined. They're far less serious than the accusations against Donald Trump, not just by Eugene Carroll, but by many, many other women confirmed in his own attitude.
You can grab them by you know what. Okay. So, there are two different cases and we should distinguish between them.
We are one divorce away from being in the in the toilet. We're one illness away from being in the gutter. And that is not the American way.
And they hear the shiny people tutting as he says, "Get this candidate out. Get that candidate out. Don't vote for this person.
Don't leave it up to the people of Maine. I trust them. " Well, well, okay then.
We can say pretty definitively no more talk about character. whether it's Donald Trump or Graham Platner or Marjorie Taylor Green or um anyone in polic but what I mean is not let's not talk about it because I understand what you're saying because if if the policy is the thing that is the most important to you and the policy from the left looks a certain way to you policy from the right looks a certain way to you then all the other moral issues should just be off the table but I'm saying this I refuse I've watched enough cycles since, you know, 16 of Democrats being judged by a different ruler. And I'm not saying that the worst ruler should should rule today.
I'm simply saying this idea of that there are different measurements for the same sorts of behavior that some people just ignore, ignore, ignore, and other people drop out and say, "Okay, well, you're supposed to be the the better the the more moral group. " I would like to point out though, this is a a primary. So, Democrats have the opportunity to select a candidate.
They can take out Susan Collins, right? This isn't about a question. Do I vote for Graham Platner or do I vote for Susan Collins?
This is a question. Do I vote for somebody who's normal or do I vote for somebody who has a Nazi? Let me let me just ask you one last thing and then we we have to go.
Given everything that was said here, especially about the allegations against President Trump, many of which were um validated in court, right? Given all of that, I mean, is that disqualifying for Donald Trump? I mean, it's it's tongue tied.
Tongue tied. And a lot of them are not. Look, I mean, and that's the problem.
I think we just have to decide what we're You'll still be allowed on television and they'll still talk. We got to decide what we're doing here. We either point that care about it or the mayor.
No, the the point I'm making is that in a primary you have the option to vote for a Democrat, you can select a normal just like Republicans had an opportunity to vote against Donald Trump, not once, not twice, but on three occasions and they ignored ignored it just like they ignored the allegations against Donald Trump. People ignore stuff. And so the reason why Americans look and are willing actually to do it is because we do it too because we're flying tattoo is a little different.
No, I think there was also Bill Clinton. How can we go a whole copy? That is true.
That is true. James Carville knows that being accused of rap. Guys, these MAGA panelists are probably at the same level of awfulness as Scott Jennings.
I mean, this idiot Lydia Moahan just can't shut up about Planters's tattoos. She's not ready to cut Planter some slack when she clearly knows that he was very young when he got that tattoo. And also, not considering the fact that the tattoo in question is not related to Nazism.
It's something else. I mean, guys, I hate it when these people start acting like champions of morality. If we're going to talk about morality, Lydia, how about we talk about that Trump's tweet in which he showed the Obamas as apes?
Huh? How about we talk about Trump being really good friends with Jeffrey Epstein? Huh?
How about we talk about Trump appearing more than 38,000 times in the Epstein documents? Huh? How about we talk about Pete Hegs white nationalist tattoos?
These magapundants are so effing shameless. They would never accept the mistake of their own leaders. They just want to talk about baseless accusations through which they can attack the Democrat shamelessly.
Guys, I know because of MAGA's fake propaganda about Planter, a lot of Democrats have developed mixed feelings about him. That's understandable. It's totally fine.
But he needs to win. He needs to win no matter what. It's him or Collins.
And I never in hell choose Collins over Planter. And I believe the large majority of Democrats feel the same way. All I care about is that he hasn't spent the last 40 years transferring trillions of dollars from working people to the very rich and that's all that matters to me.
And secondly, guys, the fact that out of all the women in New York Times that they interviewed, they could only find one who made salicious accusations who just so happens to be a Republican operative who worked for the Heritage Foundation and has worked for Planters opponent Susan Collins in the past. I mean, it should make anyone with an ounce of brains understand what's really going on. The New York Times themselves said in the article that they claimed could not be verified, and yet they shamelessly published the article.
Anyway, if we just zoom out and see the timing of all this drama, the people involved, and the fact that there's no actual corroboration of the accusations, it screams that it's all just madeup propaganda by the Republicans. It is so clear that Planter's strong opposition to the Israeli government and what they're doing in the Middle East is a major reason for this smear campaign being orchestrated against him right now. All right, guys.
That's it for today's video.
