A cat named Oscar was called an evil spirit by everyone after every person he chose to curl up next to always passed away a few hours later. Oscar lived in a nursing home where he would spend his days hiding from everyone, but he would occasionally patrol the halls looking for [music] specific patients, jump on their bed, curl up next to them, and refuse to leave their side. It wasn't long before the staff realized that out of the 50 people Oscar chose to comfort, every single one of them died within a few hours of him leaving their side.
Many staff members and families were terrified of Oscar, especially when he entered a room and sat by a person. They tried chasing him away, locking him up, and some even wanted to harm him. That was until a doctor began tracking his visits and proved that Oscar had accurately predicted the passing of over 100 people, and that he wasn't a harbinger of death, but an angel of mercy who could sense when someone was fading and simply wanted to ensure they didn't have to die alone.
The patients later stopped fearing him and the staff formalized a protocol to notify families whenever Oscar walked into a patient's room. Oscar died in 2022 in a room all by himself with no one there to predict his death or offer him the same comfort he had given to so many others.
