okay guys we're gonna take what we've learned in this section of the workshop about interpreting suits colors and numbers and we're gonna put it into practice into one tiny little exercise where we're actually getting our hands on the cards and seeing how all this comes together and I'm using as usual the unadorned playing card deck and I think it's probably the best deck for this exercise so if you've been using the illustrated playing card Oracle version you know that works for this exercise for sure but the regular playing cards really bring out the color number
and suit don't they so just a thing to try so so what we're gonna do is we're gonna lay out four cards as if we were doing a calendar spread lay out four cards in this formation okay this tower-like formation and what we're gonna do is what I call look through different lenses this is a technique that's not in the playing card oracle's but something I've developed over the years of teaching this so the first lens we're gonna look through as we view the four cards is the lens of color that simply means that all
the other possible information coming at us in this spread we're going to filter out or tune out and we're going to look solely at the color right so we're very selectively viewing our card layouts so we're gonna start with the lens of color and you know this is a primarily read spread the little spot of black right there I'm just making note so some of my correspondences for the color red are probably going to be coming forward in this reading but now I'm gonna switch to my second filter my second lens which is number and
I'm looking for any sort of number patterns that are mentioned in the book I believe it's page 135 I've got repeating numbers high numbers low numbers and seems like there's another number pattern just anything that pops out from a number point of view and Oh even in odd numbers that's right so nothing's really striking me except overall the spread is pretty low in number I've got this higher numbered card at the top and I don't think we mentioned it in any of the other videos but a good way to gauge high and low cards is
by the number seven why because seven is actually the middle number in every suit right because there's thirteen cards in a suit anything lower than a seven is on the low side anything higher than a seven is on the high side and seven cuts right down the middle so eight is just ever so slightly high these are low it's a pretty low spread overall just making a note now I'm gonna move on to my last filter my last lens which is the lens of suit and I'm noticing that I've got two cards out of four
in the diamond suit that goes along with my color observation right the the fire of the diamond suit is is bringing a lot of that excitement to the spread a lot of activity to this spread you know a lot of concern for the self you know diamonds can be a self-centered card and doesn't that make this club card very important another suit observation is I have a compatible suit combination here between both the 3 and the 4 and the 4 and the 6 so without the four here this spread becomes super unbalanced right the four
not only brings a little balance back into this spread from a color position our color perspective but also from a suit perspective and so so it's bringing my attention to this card looking through these three different lenses I'm going to know to give extra emphasis to this card in the reading and how important it is to the person right and isn't this card all about patience the four of clubs the east wind and with this red red combination here this very impulsive combination here and all the red cards patience is a super important message for
this person so that's something that just looking through my filters or my lenses brought out so I'm just gonna continue laying for card spreads out and practice flipping through the three lenses of color number and suit make sure that I don't overlook any thing that is coming through through those avenues so let's look at this spread first from color I've got a very similar layout to the last one but the black card is at the top this time just making an observation primarily red right so red correspondence has become more prominent now next filter number
I've got a real obvious number pattern here two fives right a repeating number and I think it's interesting that the two fives are together in the spread sort of emphasizing the the repeating quality of that number so whatever the number five represents it's now a main message in my spread this is where my foundational knowledge becomes really important and I need to have the meanings for the numbers memorized I need to have some key words for each of the numbers on the tip of my tongue so I would suggest journaling that you know this is
a good opportunity in this exercise to see where the holes in your knowledge are and use your journal to to start building your knowledge where you're lacking so fives are about change you know so this person has changed on multiple levels right because we know in the four card spread each card represents a different level of the person's life a different level of the person's psyche so change is happening on multiple levels for this person also from a number lens perspective this King is a lot higher than the other cards giving him a little extra
importance to he's dominating this spread down here from the low position in the layout so that would probably lead me to give a little extra emphasis to this card as well now my final filter is suits again like the last layout I've got this red red combination I've got the very impulsive and volatile combination of diamonds and hearts happening I've got an extra emphasis on hearts with the highest card being in hearts so a lot of emotion in this question this person's really emotionally plugged in to this question and again it puts a little more
importance on the five the one card that's able to get a little perspective on the situation so I think that's it from our lens perspective just a way of checking each of those three really important aspects of your playing cards let's do it again and already as the cards are leaving my hand I'm making note of the color I love color combinations like this where the red and the black are woven together evenly like that so I've got a really nice color balance happening I love that and the other thing oh well I'm skipping to
the next the last lens one observation often leads to the next the lenses start to overlap with each other but for the purpose of this exercise we're going to try to keep them separate and move methodically so color nice and evenly distributed number I've got two really high cards here and a repeating number don't I the Kings are repeating so what do Kings have in common what can we say about Kings Kings are very authoritative Kings are in charge of their entire suit and their mail they can be territorial right they've got to protect their
kingdom so I've got all of those possible correspondences coming in but usually I'm cross-checking with other information in the spread to see if other information supports that so let's keep moving through our lenses the last lens is the suit lens I've got this really nice combination here between spades and hearts a compatible suit combination sort of mellowing out any overly obnoxious tendencies that Martha casts and we've also got Murdoch next to this fire card up here so he's got different influences playing in on him one that could lead him to act pretty rashly spades with
Diamonds is that very insensitive combination remember it's the bulldozer combination but yet he's got this card down here in the heart suit nagging at him reminding him to act with compassion and feeling so so I see a bit of a struggle going on for this King between different tendencies in himself and probably another thing I want to check in terms of suits for this little four card spread is the suit relationship between the two personalities here right these are probably actually two different people in the person's life and I want to see how they get
along and I can do that pretty easily by checking their suits so spades and clubs very dry business like relationship right forged for Nicolle purposes but i like this card in between them saying that you know they get along its businesslike but they they're basically in agreement they have a lot of things in common right that's that west wind that brings that dynamic to the layout so this is a fun exercise isn't it it's so revealing and such a good practice tying in a lot of the things that we've learned together hmm making note of
color as my cards are leaving my hand it's kind of hoping for another black card a really strong message but this is a strong message to three black cards right in a row brings a lot of that shadowy dynamic to our layout this is a guy here that's staying kind of hidden isn't he doesn't like to be in the limelight at all right rather be in the background and um so already my keywords for my color are starting to come to mind and I'm moving to my next filter which is number do you see the
number pattern here tick tock tick tock they're all odd and the idea with this exercise is you get quicker and quicker moving through these lenses at sizing up your four card layout so that you can give a really great multi-layered reading without laboring over the information too much so because these cards are all odd what does that tell us this person is facing a lot of decisions there's a lot of change happening in their life nothing is standing still right now and you know the key word for sevens is challenged a key word for five
change decision and movement and then the jack is an odd card too so probably why the person is coming for a reading because everything is so in flux right now so so yeah that's the number observation kind of a mix between high and low you know nothing really striking me too much there and then moving to our last filter which is soot I've got two club cards and this Spade Club combination here that we mentioned in the last layout very businesslike very dry very practical remember the key words for that combination I believe I gave
you were the accountants convention right but then there's this 5 here spicing things up at the bottom and we've got this combination here between clubs and hearts another challenging suit combination right so all of these suit combinations are quite challenging further emphasizing all the challenges that this person is going through right now and we do have a compatible suit combination here right between hearts and spades but they're not right next to each other cards that are next to each other can more easily plug into each other's tendencies right so this suit combination is emphasized these
suit combinations are emphasized and all of those are more challenging right and it's like this Jack if he was close to this five make life easier for him things would be flowing a little better for him it's like he's got some passionate tendencies he'd like to give into right that's what hearts are about but he's got his mind in the way sort of blocking him and screwing things up for this guy so just observations from the three lenses should we do one more I love this game sure do this get your hands on your cards
may feel awkward at first doesn't matter okay oops obvious patterns emerging right okay so first lens right we're going to move methodically color I've got one red card amongst a whole bunch of black cards really kind of making that card stand out doesn't it and giving that card a little extra importance in my layout but as I go through the lenses the filters I'll learn more about why this card might be important okay so I've made that observation moving to my number lens and I've got this repeating number again and also I've got a pretty
high spread all the people cards add that sort of extreme dynamic the high numbers where there's a lot of stakes involved this person is very invested in this question right and we've got a lot of people on the table and very little actually happening right this is the lowest numbered card it's the only pip card it's the only thing that's actually happening with this group of people take this away and you've just got three people standing there scratching their heads but what's happening maybe they're on a little journey together we've got the bridge down in
the foot position of the spread maybe they're taking a trip together and so that's my number observation again qualities of kingliness are gonna come more strongly into this spread because it's a repeating King Kings are I would say if I had to choose a couple of key words for Kings their territorial their rulers what else so a lot of authoritative kind of relationship kind of dynamics here now let's look at suits and I like the relationship between the two Kings again Kings could be very warlike with each other but these two are finding their place
with each other I'm guessing they they laugh a lot together diamonds and clubs is such a jovial combination philosophical I like their relationship it's really cool and then this King is sort of mediating between these two and again we have that compatible suit combination these two could be brother and sister or man and wife this could be a friend these two could be man and wife this could be a friend anything like that but the relationship is really nice between all the cards and then we've got this club club combination down here just bringing way
tons of mental energy into the spread in fact three cards out of four are clubs there's a lot of philosophizing going on right and the top card the King up there at the top is in clubs and that's remember the top dog to this spread so definitely tons of these are like educated people people that are very you know loved words love stories loved philosophy kind of thing okay that's that exercise a great one to do and practice and as you get used to moving through those filters you it will be natural for you to
start noticing color suit and number in your readings right and the one suit pattern we didn't go into in this video with suit voids and if you'll remember suit voids come into play mostly in relationship to the question asked and we weren't asking questions in this practice exercise but that's certainly something you could include if you wanted to
