that in fact the reaching for the term fascist has become so easy and so lazy that anyone who expresses any opinion pretty much at all. You could fascist fascist fascist let's say that communist is also used in a in a relatively similar way and these terms are historical terms that were pretty specific to the 1930s in the case of of fascism. I think it's easier to define communism than it is fascism.
Fascism. I've heard so many different definitions and I think we all kind of feel like the Supreme Court with pornography. I know it when I see it.
Bill Maher is once again going after the woke left for destroying the country of the United States of America and lying about Donald Trump. Bill Maher recently has made a massive shift in his content where he really is going after the woke left, not only on Real Time with Bill Maher, but also on his podcast. And the best part is he brings on leftists and just absolutely like in this episode leaves them stunned.
Leave them leaves them speechless because of how much he's going after the woke left. Let's get into this clip here where Bill Maher destroys them once again for their lies about Donald Trump and others and leaves his audience and his panel just absolutely stunned because of the the destruction that goes on here with Bill Maher and the woke left. Ben, which politician understands the risks of cryptocurrency best?
Oh, yes. Anyone on our side? Uh there there are a few um Elizabeth Warren understands the um the issues quite well.
Um Senator Chris Van Holland understands the issues quite well and that's it. [laughter] All right. Uh for Dan, do you think it's correct or incorrect to call right-wing leaders like Georgia Maloney fascists?
She's the head person in Italy. Um, no, no. I mean, I think that You think she's a fascist?
No, I don't think she's a fascist. I think that we're using this um this outdated language from the 20th century to describe a whole new style of politics. And I think that um that in fact the reaching for the term fascist has become so easy and so lazy that anyone who expresses any opinion pretty much at all.
You could fascist fascist fascist. Let's say that communist is also used in a in a relatively similar way. And these terms are historical terms that were pretty specific to the 1930s in the case of of fascism.
I think it's easier to define communism than it is fascism. Fascism, I've heard so many different definitions and I think we all kind of feel like the Supreme Court with pornography. I know it when I see it, but it's hard to kind of is it is it the mixing of corporate power with military power?
You know, what is it exactly? But you know it when you see it. And I've been saying it about Trump for years that you know like there are things that look like they're heading toward autocracy.
Yeah. But like Bill Maher is saying right here, the woke left have completely caused the word fascism to lose all of its meaning. And the woke left constantly called Donald Trump so many things that have forced the words to completely lose their meaning such as literally Hitler.
Right? Trump is literally Hitler. He's a fascist.
He's a authoritarian. like nobody believes any of this stuff anymore. Even if we do have somebody who comes around who is all of these things, nobody will believe it because the woke left has said it about people who do not fit that bill.
They just don't. Okay? You could say that certain things Donald Trump are doing are bordering on fascism or bordering on authoritarianism.
You could say that about almost every president. You definitely could say that about Joe Biden, but guess who doesn't? Nobody on the woke left said that about Joe Biden.
You don't think forcing uh the large majority of the country to inject something into their body, you think that might border line on like authoritarianism just a little bit? Just a little, just a tad. But no, they would never say that.
There's no it's it's good for the country. Therefore, it can't be authoritarianism. It's like there's no morals, there's no principles.
It's only Trump bad, my side good. That's it. It it's it's it's like a sporting event to them.
It's like blue good, red bad, and that's all they care about. And it's like this stuff is more than just a sporting event, you know, it's a little bit little bit more serious than that, right? Or fascism.
But, you know, honestly, in a lot of them, we haven't gotten there. Yeah. Well, I mean, 1930s, fascism was is fairly easy to define.
It's militarism. It's nationalism. It's control of the press.
It's I mean, it's a lot of things that a lot of things that are brewing there. But the trouble is by using that term and because it's now I mean you you get things like ecoascism. What the [ __ ] is ecoascism?
like [laughter] wind farms everywhere. Come on. So, the term has lost its its meaning and in using it uh it's it's just become a sort of lazy term of generic abuse like and I think in the case of Maloney in Italy, I think her aunt, you know, her was it her father, her grandfather, I think was a fascist, but you know, you could say about the Democratic party, they're the ones who fought for slavery.
Okay. So, I mean, everybody's got if you go back in time, it it doesn't matter. What are you now?
I don't I mean, I'm not even sure she's that much of a right-winger. She seems to be liked by the other people in the EU. They don't seem to treat her like she's some sort of crazy lady.
I mean, it it overlaps now with with populist in Europe. So, I mean, people would call Nigel Farage in the UK a fascist. Well, undoubtedly he's a populist and he's an old-fashioned conservative and he has views on immigration that some people would say are are harsher than they would like.
But that is not the same as saying he's for example Oswald Mosley. I mean there's there's a profound difference and and in some of it I think comes down to a failure to be able to define the politics of our own times. We don't have like an adequate language for what's happening in the world at the moment.
So we're reaching for this language at a time which is is in a lot of cases the language of the mid- 20th century. Okay. This is for you David.
Are there any reforms you would like to see? Yeah. And I think that guy makes an actually interesting point.
Okay. I don't know who that is, but he actually made a a thoughtprovoking point where is someone a fascist? If everybody can agree that he's a fascist, maybe because we don't really have terms to describe what is going on right now.
We don't. All we have is terms that we used to describe people back in the 1930s and and and in history, right? We don't have terms to describe what's going on right now.
And maybe if everybody can come to an agreement that somebody is a certain thing, then maybe that person is that thing. But the problem is 50% of the population doesn't agree. And you can use history to say, "Hey, look, this guy does not fit this.
He's not Hitler. He's not. " So like that that's thoughtprovoking, but also when it comes to fascism, when it comes to literally Hitler, when it comes to convicted felon and all the things that Donald Trump has been called that are not true, it it just doesn't work.
Um, so these words have completely lost their meaning because absolute idiots on the left wing have forced them to lose their meaning and they they just they literally don't mean anything anymore. Implemented on the Supreme Court. Oh, how much time do you have?
No. I I'll start with one. I'm I think we need term limits for Supreme Court justices.
Yeah. [applause] And here's why. The system is becoming broken in the sense that we're now nominating younger and younger and younger people with the hope that they can be in all uh be in their robes for 30 maybe 40 years.
That's an enormous amount of stagnation. Number two, what we have is an enormous amount of unpredictability. So, you don't know in any given presidency, are they going to be nominating a Supreme Court justice?
Are they going to be nominating three? You know, we we had one four-year term with Biden. He had one.
We had a four-year term with Trump. He had three nominations. That level of unpredictability starts to drive voters crazy because every single presidential election, the Supreme Court is theoretically in play.
If you do it with 18-year terms, that's plenty of runway to be a justice, right? And that would mean you'd have two election or two nominations per four-year term. Year one, year three.
It's very predictable. The other thing that I would like to do, I want to get back the filibuster on Supreme Court justices. That is not I don't actually I don't actually hate what this guy is saying right here.
Like I I don't know if that's considered a woke take or not. Uh I don't mind that there there be term limits on Supreme Court justice. I don't think that that is like a a bad take necessarily.
Now the part that is a little dishonest is is that I know number one, I know this guy is woke because he has a gay lisp and also he works for the New York Times. So he he's woke for sure. Um, so I know he's coming from this at an angle where he's like, "Oh, Donald Trump got to appoint three Supreme Supreme Court justices and Joe Biden only got one.
So therefore, I am now in favor of term limits on Supreme Court justices. " And like I know he's just saying it because of that reason. He doesn't actually care about the well-being of the country or anything like that.
So I know it is like ultimately a woke take because of the the reasoning behind why he wants these things. But I do believe that, you know, Supreme Court justice term limits are are probably something that needs to happen. I don't really understand the benefit to not having term limits.
And and you can let me know in the comments. Maybe I'm completely ignorant on this, but I don't know the benefit of not having term limits. Like, what is that benefit?
Why is it better to not have term limits versus to have term limits? Let me know in the comments what you guys think. Or do you just completely agree with this guy and he just happened to say something that's sort of based on accident because he just doesn't like the fact that Donald Trump had that power?
Let me know in the comments you guys think about this whole Bill Maher going after the woke left situation here for ruining the meaning of words such as fascism and and and everything authoritarianism everything has been ruined. Let me know in the comments you guys think about this whole Bill Maher versus the woke left situation here live on Real Time with Bill Maher.
