other as friends and also on screen in these characters I I have a deep unexplainable gratitude for it and it's been my favorite part oh my God you are so cute God thank you you too hey and you're from Brazil yes I am from Brazil do you sing any may I ask a Brazilian music any Jo beam or any Brazilian music me bosanova yes not a singer yeah but everybody you don't have to be a singer to enjoy singing I think that's the do you know some Brazilian music don't get him started how many how
many minutes do you have a lot an hour what's this song she can sing it's okay I love to hear it in Portuguese I love that we could sing all of those songs all day let's go what do you want people feel when they watch Wicked I want them to come in and first just be blown away by the world that they're entering have the magic and wonder that they felt when they first saw Wizard of Oz or Wicked and that they lean in and when they lean in they meet these two beautiful women that
you think you know who they are you think it's the wicked you think it's the good person and that we flip that that scenario on you and that makes you think about who is telling the story in your own life who is saying who is the villain and who is the who is the good person and that it makes you question the things in your life um it hopy hopefully brings you out of that light and you come out singing dancing again and returns you to your home That's a classic and fundamental and Primal maybe
mysteriously inexplicably Primal fable about finding yourself and going home whatever that means to everybody then Wicked turns it on its head and goes we're going to see something that you didn't know about about this wicked witch who really may not be Wicked I I think the world just needs Wicked in terms of the themes of one standing up for what you believe in also realizing that putting blame on a certain group of people or in this case animals um in the story rather than looking at the root of it or necessarily trying to understand one
another I.E galinda and alphaba and their friendship I think that's something a lot of people can learn from this story cynia alphaba is the green girl who is not accepted by Society so what do you as alphaba want people to take away from her story it takes her time to accept the differences that she has but those differences anyone who has difference or feels different or feels like they're on the outside or feels like they're not accepted should know that those differences make you special I was wondering while I was I was watching the movie
you are a pro dancer so that dancing was not a problem for you so what what was the biggest challenge for you in Wicked just trying to cool it because I'm a massive Wicked fan the biggest challenge well I suppose it was yeah just matching the the the the love and the detail of the work of of of everyone around me and obviously led by John and listening to yourself sing on repeat that is something I didn't know when you're dancing to you know dancing to live took how many days Six Days Seven Days long
time and you're listening to your own voice sing which is I think a form of torture in some countries so yeah that bit I found uh challenging as the first disabled actress to play Nessa how do you feel bringing this representation to a screen what does this Ro mean to you I am so incredibly grateful to be representation for so many people because it's not necessarily something I had growing up and for families in general to watch this together parents um of disabled children disabled children themselves disabled people themselves to see someone that looks like
them on screen and hopefully set a precedent in general for casting in the future to cast more disabled people on screen I I really hope this shows them that it's possible accommodations are possible and and to ask ask our needs ask how much we can do and listen more to and I I'm so happy to be here and hopefully be a part of that change as well Ethan your character has a complex uh romantic Journey there so how did you make to approach yourself to this story how how can you define love in that case
well I think Bach does have a complex romantic uh Journey he's got he's yeah that's a really good way of putting it uh he's you know head over heels in love with galinda but I think a big part of the reason that he is is that he's looking for Community he's looking for where he belongs and he kind of finds that actually I mean through following Glinda and and his love for her he like actually finds this group of friends and finds a really beautiful friend in Nessa Michelle H what was the biggest challenge for
you in Wicked cuz I I saw something of you saying that you were nervous about singing but you got it oh thank you I haven't seen it yet so I'm going like oh my God I hope I don't s terrible it's very challenging because it's something that is not in my comfort zone and when John offered me the role of mad marable I when I you this singing she sings and I don't sing and uh but fortunately I stood up to the challenge and I'm eternally grateful for him yeah you know presenting me with such
a beautiful amazing character to play Joe I was so impressed by the set design for weekend from the TPS to the train to life s so how does this realistic set translate on a screen I think in order to believe that the emotions are real you have to believe the world is real and I think that this you know Wicked always challenged me to believe that this relationship was so true and so dear that it reminded you of your own relationships that maybe have passed in that were in high school or grade school but they
also left a handprint on your heart and there was a a real safe sense and a bubble as it were because of the the fact that we were cocooned by these incredible sets who was dancing for life more challenging than the Bon scenes H good question um those magical Fiero boots meant that um and it was a Paul tazwell magical boot they sort of they had their a mind of their own so actually all I needed to do is to strap them up which took about seven hours but yeah I would say that they both
have their challenges um but yeah dancing through life for me will be the thing that I I think I'll be very proud of for a long time how was it like to see yourself all green for the first time oh really emotional really emotional cuz we had we had worked on all the details that we wanted to to put on her and to make alphab and put her together and when it all came together and it was exactly as we wanted exactly as I wanted it's just really wonderful to see her in the room you
know all of a sudden she was there well I had the privilege of of peeking my head in when there were green tests that's right so there were many different versions of the green and of the freckles and of the contact lenses and um this is something that Cynthia was just like such a involved part of and it was very important to her as a purist it was like find every right shade every right shape how was to to apply and to remove all that green makeup to remove it was about 45 minutes but to
put it on in the morning was about 2 and a/ qu hours roughly but that was after one gets it down in time but in the prep day she said I I really need to have green hands and be green to to find my alphabet every day Ariana you have seen wicked as a child and this Ro has been your dreams ever since so if you could speak to that little Ariana right now what would you say to her I would say many things I would say we did it we're still doing it and oh
my God holy you got it yeah what is happening no I I would just say good we kid oh talking about glinda's outfit cuz we first saw some images of her using blue but now it's pink for real so how was to decide the the final version because I don't know if if you know but in Brazil the Glinda ver the Brazilian version of wicked Glinda weree pink all pink I didn't know that yeah well it's uh it was uh inspired by the 1930s film of The Wizard of Oz uh and I was going after
uh the the Glenda pink that Billy Burt wore you know it's that game was designed by Adrian and you know I thought that it it resonates for me as an icon for the world of of wicked uh or of w The Wizard of Oz the world of wicked you know because they're familiar with the blue dress I really you it was a choice made because it was very important for John to create a world that was original and new how many costumes are in the movie do you have an idea like uh costumes overall thousands
thousands and thousands counting like all the cast yeah yeah I mean because you know they you know we had days of 400 and 500 people on on set the Emerald City uh was a huge he really impressive to see like how many people were there like how many work you had they were there for real weren't they was really rare anymore I mean because you know they Don didn't want to rely on CGI for those big crowd scenes for uh Glenda and and alphaba we they had about 25 looks each over two films we ended
up making about 60 because we had multiples to you know the the of the same costume so the a total would be about 60 costumes for Glend maybe 75 for Alpha but because of all the flying needed more multiples for her you were about Brazil and now I have a picture to show you of Brazilian witches our pop culture yes of course and I would like you to choose one of them to be part of you Wicked Universe oh okay is great here is Morgana she BRS a potions and she lives in a [Music] castle
and here is cuka she kidnaps children and she has this alligator appearance a so which one do you choose she's you Professor maybe I don't know I like cuka uh I like Morgana okay that's good then we have both so we have both both I love love them my kids were love I know that green and pink are the colors of alphaba and and Glinda but in Brazil they are the colors of a famous sunbay school called manga oh I have a picture here just to you yes cute so what do you think about going
