Star Wars Jedi 3, which will continue the journey of Calstus, is arguably the most anticipated Star Wars game and Star Wars project currently in development. And even though this new Star Wars game is likely not going to release until 2027 at the earliest, today I want to go over everything we know about the game so far and also talk about a bunch of predictions for where we think the game is headed and features that are going to be included. And also, I'd love to hear what you think is going to happen in Jedi 3.
What do you think the game is going to be called? Where do you think the story is going to go? How do you think they're going to evolve combat?
[music] I'm going to talk about all of that in this video, but I'd also love to hear what you think about all these things. So, let me know down below. Hey everyone, it's Andrew.
Always a trilogy. Back in 2023, the lead developer on Jedi Fall in Order and Jedi Survivor, Stig Asmusen, gave some comments referring to the Jedi games as always having been a trilogy. We were already talking about the second game.
He said, "I always wanted to see this as a trilogy. " So, even when they started development on the Jedi series with Jedi Fall in Order, the developers at Respawn were hopeful that they'd be able to build out Calcastus' journey into a trilogy of three games. He also said, "We had a pretty decent idea of time frame where we wanted Survivor to take place, what the stakes were going to be, what Cal was going to be up against, and how the crew was going to factor into that.
" And there's ideas of what we could do beyond that as well. The developers have always been thinking about what's potentially beyond making one, two, even three games. final chapter.
That said, back in 2024, Laura Mille, president of EA Games, said in a statement that Respawn is working hard to bring the final chapter of this thrilling story to players. Meaning that at the time, we thought Jedi 3 was potentially going to be the last game in this series, and there would be no more Jedi games beyond the next chapter. However, in a post from Respawn from April 2025 talking about layoffs at the company within the Star Wars universe, we're excited to keep building new stories with the next chapter of the Star Wars Jedi series aiming to raise the bar again for storytelling and gameplay.
And based on this, a lot of people seem to think the fact they're now using the word next instead of final could potentially mean there will be more Jedi games beyond Jedi 3. Stig asked Musen, he was the lead developer on Jedi Fall in Order and Jedi Survivor. However, in September 2023, he left Respawn to go and make his own game development studio known as Giant Skull.
This means he won't be leading the charge on Jedi 3, which has left a lot of people skeptical about this game's direction and the story, considering most people believe he was responsible for why Jedi Fall in Order and Jedi Survivor are such memorable games. That said, from what we know, he's left the blueprint at Respawn for Jedi 3. And as we know, they were thinking of this as a trilogy almost right from the beginning.
So, even though he's not the lead developer, I'd say he still had a lot of indirect input [music] into where Jedi 3 is headed. Playable Marin. A lot of people are speculating that we're going to be able to play as Marin in the third Jedi game, just as we got to play as Seir in Jedi Survivor.
That said, if we were to play as Marin, a new combat system may need to be developed, considering she's a Nightsister and not a Jedi. Yes, she can wield the force known to her as magic, but her abilities with the force and combat style are quite different to those of a Jedi or those of a lightsaber wielding character. I'm not entirely convinced this is something the developers would put heaps of time into developing, but we'll see.
Tanalor, I don't think it's any secret that Jedi 3 will likely take place several years following the events of Jedi Survivor, and then we're going to catch up with the gang on the planet Tanalor, which is where Jedi Survivor ends. Tanalor is a planet that's hard to find, can only be accessed by traveling through the nebula of the Coobo Abyss, is located deep in the Outer Rim, and is also strong in the Force. This planet was initially discovered by Dagen Gara, and is likely going to be used as a location of refuge, serving as the end point for surviving Jedi who have found their way through the hidden path.
The Hidden Path, a secret underground network with locations throughout the galaxy used to give refuge, shelter, and new identities to Jedi who survived the events of Order 66. The Hidden Path was first mentioned in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series, was further developed in Jedi Survivor, and will likely be even further developed in Jedi 3. As a result of this, I think it's also likely that Calstus is going to come across multiple other surviving Jedi in Jedi 3, considering Hanalore is the end point of the Hidden Path.
Other Jedi, the Hidden Path was founded by Quinnland Voss, so I think there's a huge chance he could be showing up in Jedi 3. But what other potential Jedi could be making an appearance? Just like the previous two Jedi games, I think there's a chance we could be introduced to a new force-sensitive character just as we're introduced to, for example, Bodkuna or Taran Malacos.
Hopefully, this time it'll be someone on the light side. So, let's take a look at some other Jedi who survived Order 66 and would still be around during the year 9BY, which is when Jedi Survivor is set. Obi-Wan Kenobi, considering he knows about the hidden path, there's a slim chance he will make an appearance in Jedi 3.
Perhaps he'll be too preoccupied with taking care of Luke and Leia. Yoda. As far as we know, Yoda never leaves Dabar when he puts himself in exile there.
So, unless Cal travels to Dabar in Jedi 3, I don't think Yoda's going to be showing up anytime soon. Ahsokaano. Considering we have some idea of Ahsoka's whereabouts during the events of Star Wars Rebels between the years 5 and 1 BBY, I think there's a pretty decent chance Ahsoka could show up in Jedi 3.
Aophie, after turning back to the light side in Tales of the Empire, there's also a chance she could show up. Assange Ventress. I think there's a huge chance she could show up in Jedi 3 considering she's a nightister, has that kind of affiliation with Marin.
She's become a gray Jedi as we see in the Bad Batch season 3 and also has an affiliation to Quinnland Voss due to the events of the Dark Disciple novel. Her whereabouts following the events of Tales of the Underworld are unknown and these events take place roughly 9 10 years before the events of Jedi Survivor. And now I'm curious if Assange Ventress and Marin meet, would we be returning to Datamir in Jedi 3?
Cutter Akuna, the daughter of Bodkuna, who following the events of Jedi Survivor was left in the care of Marin and Cal and Greece. My guess is that Cal and Marin are going to be training her in the ways of the Force and perhaps she will be the first Padawan of Cal's new Jedi order if he is to establish one. Taking an apprentice and training them is also a step towards becoming a Jedi Master.
And I think it's pretty obvious Calstus will be taking a step further towards that in Jedi 3. Calstus' fate. I think since the first game, people have speculated whether Calstus would survive.
Considering at this point in time, there's really no mention of him following the events of Jedi Survivor. And we know there are only several Jedi who have survived beyond this point in the timeline. There is a chance he could survive considering Tanalor is a hidden planet that at this point in time hasn't been discovered by the Empire.
So perhaps he could live out the rest of his days on Tanalor on this hidden planet, which is why we haven't heard about him further on in the timeline. But then of course we also saw him be tempted by the dark side in Jedi Survivor. In fact, you had no choice towards the end of the game but to use the dark side of the force to survive and to save Marin.
And I think this is likely something Cal is going to continue to wrestle with during Jedi 3. I think a lot of people have speculated that he will potentially become a gray Jedi instead, but I'm also guessing he'll be aware of the mistakes Bode Akuna made being tempted by the dark side of the Force and won't fully want to make those same mistakes. That said though, he did some pretty dark stuff towards the end of Jedi Survivor.
And yes, even though you could argue it was just his survival instinct kicking in, I think he'll continue to be tempted by the dark side of the Force and the power that comes with it, especially if Tanalor is discovered by the Empire. Darth Vader. And just because Jedi Fall in Order and Jedi Survivor both featured interactions and fights with Darth Vader, if you can call what happened in Jedi Fall in Order a fight, doesn't necessarily mean that that's going to happen in the third game, but I think there's a huge chance there will be some kind of boss fight or interaction again with Darth Vader.
The Inquisitors are likely still going to be hunting Jedi and will make an appearance in the third Jedi game. My guess is that just as Jedha was discovered by the Empire and Vader in Jedi Survivor, Panalore will also be discovered by them in Jedi 3. And there'll be some kind of highstakes encounter here as a result.
The Death Star, considering where Jedi Survivor and Jedi 3 will likely take place in the timeline, I think we'll get at least some reference to the Death Star, but this is currently just pure speculation. There's also a chance that the Emperor himself will show up in this game and perhaps Cal will face off against him. Perhaps this is how Cal will meet his demise.
And I feel like this is likely if they want to continue to up the stakes with Jedi 3, just as they have from Jedi Fall in Order to Jedi Survivor. There's going to be some kind of tragic turn of events in the third game, just as there was in the second. And I feel like the Emperor could be involved in that in some way.
The death of Greus. Gre since Jedi Fall in Order has been one of Cal's mentor figures. I'm honestly surprised he made it through Jedi Survivor because of how these things go and because they're going to break our hearts that Gre will almost certainly die in Jedi 3.
Complete guess, complete speculation, but considering we've had the death of Seir, the death of Eno Cordova, the death of all of Cal's crew and friends, I think Greavves will meet his demise in some kind of tragic heroic moment. Cal and Marin's relationship. Because it's likely that Cal will continue to be tempted by the dark side.
I think at times during Jedi 3, their relationship will be tested. I think there's also a chance the two of them will have a child in Jedi 3. Perhaps Marin will be pregnant.
If Jedi Survivor counts as their honeymoon period of the two of them falling in love and the two of them eventually getting together, I think the third game for storytelling purposes needs to test that relationship. Lightsaber combat. Considering Jedi Survivor evolved Jedi Fall in Order's combat by giving us five different combat stances, my guess is that the only natural progression of where they can go from giving you the option of using multiple stances is somehow combining those stances for Jedi 3.
Perhaps you'll be able to use the blaster regardless of which stance you're playing with. Perhaps you can combine combos using single, double, and dual wielded stances. You could argue that it's kind of ridiculous.
Cal has essentially mastered multiple lightsaber stances and techniques. But let's just say that's his specialty. That's one of the ways in which he's more connected to the force.
And I feel like now combining the stances would be the natural evolution of where they take combat in Jedi 3. Ogd Bogdo. I think there is zero chance Ogdo Bogdo, the classic giant frog monster of our nightmares, won't be returning in some form in Jedi 3.
There is no way they wouldn't put him in this game. Now, Jedi Survivor gave us that awful fight where you could face two Ogdogdos at once. And I think it would only be fair if Jedi 3 made you face three Ogdogdos at once.
The literal stuff of nightmares. Poncho. Jedi Fall in Order became notorious for its multiple poncho customization options and for this essentially being the only real way of customizing Cal's appearance.
Since then, the poncho has become somewhat of a meme. >> Poncho, poncho, poncho, poncho, poncho. Well, first thing I notice is he's not wearing a poncho in >> Cameron.
And I think Jedi 3 is going to have some kind of ridiculous amount of ponchos to find, equip, and customize in the game. >> Poncho >> planets. The previous two Jedi games have delivered quite a mix of well-known and established planets and then new planets with new locations.
And I don't see how Jedi 3 is going to be different. Tanalor will likely be much more explorable than it was in Jedi Survivor. And I think there will be at least a couple of other new planets in the game.
But what established planet do you think we'll be able to travel to in Jedi 3? Even though it's the most overplayed, overvisited planet in Star Wars, I think there's somewhat of a chance we could be going to Tatooine. Doesn't Star Wars just always go to Tatooine?
>> Wretched hive of scum and villain. >> Rick the door technician. Surely we're also going to get another boss fight as iconic as the one with Rick the door technician in Jedi 3.
Perhaps Rick the door technician's family will come hunting for Cal for revenge. multiple endings. One of the frustrations and bits of feedback players had for the developers at the end of Jedi Survivor was the fact there was limited player choice, especially in the moment where you were forced to embrace the dark side.
A lot of players argued that it would have been much more immersive if you could choose whether or not to embrace the dark side or stay on the light during this moment. Now, considering the Jedi games haven't given you that kind of player choice, which would spawn multiple story paths and narrative outcomes, I think it's unlikely the third game will have that. But you never know.
Perhaps the developers heard this feedback, listened to players, and have decided to put something like this in the game. That said, I think there will be one canon ending for Jedi 3. And if there are multiple story outcomes that you can decide, it'll be left up to interpretation in the Star Wars cannon.
And perhaps the details of that will be a little murky future games. Like I said earlier, Respawn hinted at the idea that there could be more Jedi games. Either this is just a phrasing thing in this post they made or there is more potential down the track.
We'll just have to wait and see. I think if they were to make more Jedi games beyond this, they likely won't be about Calstus, but they'll use the foundations of the combat system they've created here to create more games into the future, either spin-offs or about different parts of the Star Wars timeline. But I'd love to hear what you think.
Do you think there going to be more Jedi games after Jedi 3? And what are your thoughts and speculations for the third Jedi game? Let me know in the comments.
