for years I was trapped in the cycle of viewing pornography feeling guilt shame and condemnation for it and swearing I would never look at it again to viewing it again sometimes a short time later sometimes months later but always returning back U I tried everything shaming myself promising I'd try harder all sorts of methods that left me empty hello my friend my name is Zach and on this channel I Hope Christian husbands live uncommon lives and we cannot do that we're being stuck in the cycle of pornography but many of us are stuck and don't
know our way out I was for years here's my quick little story I got trapped in pornography out of curiosity at 13 and this created a cycle in my life where I would view for pornography um sometimes a bunch sometimes just a little you know always justifying it well at least it wasn't much but always returning back and I think most of us men try this like White Knuckle Behavior like I'm just going to make it happen and I kept doing that and some at some points at other points I would justify sometimes I would
justify that at least I'm not having premarital sex that was my story before I got married and it'll go away when I get married know maybe you've tell yourself that one or maybe you did in the past it's a common lie we we tell ourselves or maybe this other point in the future and that kept me stuck in bondage after marriage still stuck in the cycle and my wife didn't know anything about it luckily I've watched a journey that has freed me from the chackal of prnography and I've been cleaned out for over 14 years
praise God but here's how this happened for me and here's the verse that changed everything just a little more background is I wanted so much freedom in this area that one Sunday morning a guy preached a sermon at my church and it just struck my heart it was about hiddenness and and coming to the light and I knew I needed to talk to this guy and so I kept asking him can we meet and he just said he didn't have time and long story short finally he had time for me and to which I unburdened
myself I came out of hiddenness into light here's the verse that changed everything James 5:116 says therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for each other so that you may be healed the prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective that verse is the foundation of coming clean of breaking the shackles of pornography see pornography the sin of pornography the shame of pornography grows in the darkness it grows in the hiddenness and maybe you've told yourself I will talk to people about this when I'm Healed when I'm better when I've got this
conquered but that's not the way it works my friend James clearly states here how it works it's we confess our sins then we are healed not the other way around it's not heal then tell that would be really cool I wish that's what it says but it says we confess when we're stuck in the grime when we're stuck in the bondage and it's not going to be like some magic bullet that all of a sudden you're not going to struggle again if you got that idea by clicking on this video I'm sorry but that's not
been my journey and it's not been the journey that I've walked with other men through this it is a hard fought battle but this is the key to the battle the key to the battle is that we bring our Brokenness we bring our pain we bring the gross things that we've done that we're afraid to tell anybody to the light to a trusted brother in Christ it's this confession of sin so that we may be healed it's an unburdening of the wreckage that's around us and here's the thing here's the Trap that some of us
that have walked with Christ Christ for years fall into that somehow we are going to be good enough that we are going to be perfected enough but my friend when you accepted Christ into your heart you saw that Chasm that gap between where you were and Perfection and you saw that Gap and your answer to it was I cannot do that on my own only Jesus can cover that Gap only surrender to him and see when we live out this James what James says in 5:116 we are reminding oursel that that Gap is not closed
by our effort that Gap is closed by Jesus and in our culture that's unpopular our culture says you just got to man up you just got to press on no we admit our weakness in the context of community we admit how we are wounded in the context of community and a brother in Christ holds that with us and prays for us and holds us accountable and even if we're coming back 24 hours later to confess the same sin again we confess it and we say God change me that is how we fight the battle in
courageous authenticity that is highly uncomfortable and if you do that maybe not today maybe not tomorrow but in time surrender to God and confession of sin to others there will be a path to freedom I hope that you will be brave enough to jump out of that airplane and confess your sins so that you may be healed and God bless you in your journey in fact could help you in any way just let me know
