all right so this is going to be a little bit of a different video and this video isn't going to be live on the channel for very long after a couple of days I'm going to take the video down and the reason why just being totally honest with you is that I'm going to sell you something oh sales bad word I know I know I'm a I'm a bad person but like I said the video isn't going to be on the channel long um I will take it down and then after that I'll get back
to the you know me sharing inside of AD accounts and breaking down funnels and all that sort of good stuff but for now this is going to be a mini pitch if it gets your Nick as knotted you don't like it then that's okay you don't have to watch the video right again not going to take too long and we'll get back to the regular videos after this one so why am I making this video well as some of you guys will know I started advertising on Facebook with my first like online business in 2016
so over eight years now I've been advertising on Facebook and a lot has changed in that time back then very very easy to get results you know I didn't have a clue what I was doing wasn't a good copywriter didn't even know what an offer or a sales funnel was like you didn't really need any of that honestly as long as you just kind of knew how to you know upload a video or an image to Facebook and Target prop properly that is pretty much all you needed to do so it a very interesting time
and a lot of people made a lot of money without being very skilled but as you will know since then a lot has changed and I would say like post 2020 2021 things have gotten a lot more difficult and the people that were making millions of dollars on Facebook before no longer are you've even seen people like um Sam ovens completely pivot and Chang businesses Alex hosi sold gym launch I believe um what's the fitness girls name I think she's called kayn um she had like a fitness program for she was like one of the
top people in clickfunnels she had like a woman's fitness health program sold like supplements and stuff as well um anyway those people grew the companies pretty much solely on Facebook advertising and since you know 2020 2021 those people well all three of those examples actually have sold the companies because what was working for them previously no longer did so obviously on the face of it that doesn't look very good for businesses that are centered around Facebook advertising so you might be thinking Sam why you telling us this like don't you teach don't you run a
Facebook advertising agency don't you teach education on Facebook ads why are you telling us that it's really difficult you know that doesn't make sense for your business and kind of doesn't it kind of doesn't so I'm not going to Sugar Cod it like of course you know the advertising landscape is pretty difficult you know you've got tracking issues conversion rates going down like cpms going up like stuff's difficult but where there are challenges lies opportunities because back when Facebook was working really well the barrier to entry was so low that anyone could like start a
coaching business and start making money you had all these drop shippers that you know let's be honest didn't have a clue how to run a business they don't know how anything Works they just found a product on Alibaba or AliExpress and chucked a Facebook ad up and they started making money like it didn't take any skill to be good and build a business on Facebook ads now the bar entry is high which means yes there's a lot of competition and it's become a lot more difficult but a lot of people are struggling so if you
can actually learn the skill of Facebook advertising in the modern day then you're going to be able to grow your company when your competitors can't or if you are maybe an a an agency or a service provider like me if you can actually Master Facebook ads or Facebook advertising or you know social media advertising and get results for your clients you're not going to struggle to grow the agency or make money because there's not many agencies out there or service providers out there who can actually get results right now so if you just work with
a few clients to get them results then word is going to spread very very quickly and you're not going to struggle to get more clients if you can actually do this so yes it's more competitive yes it's harder to get results but the actual amount of people who are actually good at this isn't very high which means if you become one of those people that provides a great opportunity for you to separate yourself from everyone else and grow your company and beat and wipe the floor with your competition because realistically there's there's basically on the
Facebook platform right now there's two types of people number one is the people who are still relatively new to online business and maybe I don't know maybe they tried to grow organically on Instagram or YouTube but it's just slow and they weren't getting the views or the growth that they wanted so they heard about you know hey just run ads right and you can one spend $ one and get a couple back the advertising dream so they're like okay that sounds good but they don't have a clue what they're doing and like I said before
you can't no longer come in and start running Facebook ads and just make money regardless of skill of experience you need to know what you're doing so these newbies they're basically just chucking money at Zuckerberg losing it all and then they're like oh this doesn't work I've just lost a load of money or you've got person number two who maybe grown previous companies or they grew the company previously with advertising but since you know iOS 14 and the tracking issues and the interest going it's just not worked and what worked for them previously no longer
does they're still trying to run their accounts as if it's like like 2019 2018 and what worked for them before no longer does and it's a complete blood blood bath a show and they can't get results so the key is obviously to commit to the skill and learn what is actually working today because if you can do that like I said you can separate yourself from the competition so and don't worry I'm not forgot about pitching you I'm still going to sell you something in a second but what I want to do on the screen
right now is basically just run over the fre things are really going to separate you from everyone else and if you can do these three things really well then you can actually make paid ads work for you and you can you know dominate everyone else in your market so number one is that you need to transition from a media buyer into a marketer and I'm going to explain what this means and yes my writing's awful I had someone comment the other day on my videos being like o write properly I'm like dude shut the up
anyway so to become a master media buyer you actually need to become a marketer not a media buyer so back back in my day God I sound so old back in my day in 2016 I am so old um back in my day when I first started because it was so easy to run Facebook ads all you needed to do was basically Outsource the media buying to a VA that had never run ads before but if you just gave them a sop in a Google doc telling them what to click and how to do things
they could make your company money so basically a media buyer back then was just a button Pusher as long as you knew how to set up a campaign select the right interest set up the ad account prop like set up the ads properly then you were golden you could make the company money so you basically all your time was just spent inside the ads manager finding interests to Target testing different you know campaign structures uh testing new ads right but what you really want to do if you want to make money with advertising in 2024
is you need to evolve into a marketer so a marketer does have the skills of a media buyer obviously if you want to make money with Facebook ads you need to understand how to set up your campaigns you need to understand how to Target properly you need to understand like the campaign structure the bidding strategy all that sort of good stuff right you still need that but you can't just have that you need a lot more so you need to understand number one copywriting right back back in my day need to stop saying that you
know the copy that we were using in our ads when I first started was horrendous it was just like a couple of lines and an image and it would make you money like there was no copy there was no strategy it was just like hey come and buy my thing pretty much right now you can't really write ads like that one of the big differentiators between someone who makes money and who doesn't is the ads that they run whether that be the copy the words that they use or the video script that they have depends
if you want to do like images and video it needs to be really good and it needs to be centered around your customers and it needs to be highly like well written copy you can't just slap an ad together and throw it up and expect it to make money there needs to be strategy behind it you need to understand how to write a great Facebook ad you need to understand your customers pain points desires blah blah blah all that everything that goes into being a great copywriter you need that right and that was one of
the things that separated me and my agency from a lot of other people is when we started working with our clients they were like oh do you run the ads or do you write the ads as well and I was like of course we write the ads right and they were like oh wow like we worked with agencies before that would just click the buttons inside the ads manager and they didn't know how to write ads not very good right competitive Advantage I could run the ads and I could also write the ads so you
need to understand copywriting if you don't understand how to write great Facebook cards or at least like script great Facebook ad videos then you're going to struggle right so you need copywriting you need to be a good media buyer you need I call it operational um Excellence inside the ad account so that's you know being a great media buyer but you also need a ton of other stuff as well so you need a good solid understanding of the endtoend sales process again pretty much before it was just like if you have a business just run
some traffic to it and it'll make money but it doesn't work like that now conversion are lower there's more competition so as a media buyer or as an Advertiser you need to not only understand what's going on inside the ad account but you need to understand what's going on with the funnel you need to understand what's going on with the sales process whether that's a sales team or it's like a sales presentation the followup with you know phone sales with email marketing with SMS or even like backend conversion to like more higher ticket products to
ensure the profitability like there's a lot going on and if you don't have a full solid and comprehensive understanding of the entire marketing and sales process then just running a few ads and trying to get traffic isn't going to work for you and then on top of that as well you need to get a solid understanding of your funnel economics so I work with people or they come to me to ask for help with their campaigns and they'd be like oh yeah this is my product like this is you know I want to sell this
like $27 course and I want to run ads to it and make money and I'm like dude don't bother it's not going to work because just the pricing the lifetime value of a customer the amount of money they're going to make versus the amount it costs to get a click and the conversions on the Facebook ads even if they had the best ads in the world it wasn't structured properly to make them money like even if they're the best copywriter even if they knew the best Facebook ad strategies their economics of the business they weren't
going to work the math the math didn't math as they say right the numbers didn't add up so before you take on any campaign or you start a campaign or work with a client or start a new business or want to drive traffic to your own business with Facebook ads you need to make sure that your funnel economics add up and there's actually a good chance of you making money which again a lot of people don't understand so again I won't go into all but that's what it means to be a great Advertiser AKA a
great marketer you can't just be a media buyer and be like oh just show me the latest you know campaign structure or tell me what interests to Target and I'll be fine no no no no no no you need to evolve from a media buyer into a marketer so that's number one number two is you need to write ads that don't look like gosh ads okay you need to the best ads don't look like ads and this is something that a lot of people talk about I'm trying to be like oh look at me I'm
so unique with this fall process um but it's very very true because I'm sure you guys would have seen over the last few years the news feed has just turned into new news feed for Facebook Instagram feed I Instagram feed Facebook Newsfeed you know whatever it is it's going turned into like a a shouting match people are like just desperately yelling and screaming for attention attention on the guy coaches under 10k per month we will book you blah blah blah attention agency owners struggling to get past 20K per month we will we will Implement our
blah blah blah outbound system it's like oh shut up so desperate people are just like especially after you know and I've talked about it a lot on this channel you know homoi released $100 million offers the whole Market shifted that was just basically like who can Scream the offer and money back guarantee the loudest will win and that's what you know the whole advertising landscape turned into there's people shouting in the newsfeed about who they can help and their offer and the money back guarantee all that BS right so what happened is is that people
like ad blindness is a thing and people are just tuning the out of the ads on the newsfeed because it's the same copy and paste script it's the same talking head videos you know no one cares about your freaking webinar no one wants to book a discovery call no one cares about your freaking money back guarantee no one cares you sound the same as everyone else and sameness is advertising suicide if you sound the same as everyone else then you aren't going to win right so number one ad blindness is a thing so if your
ads sound like ads they're going to put you in the category as everyone else because right now if you scroll on Instagram or Facebook everyone's ads they look like ads they're calling out their Avatar they're giving them their offer right so you don't want to sound like those people so the words that we use in our ads again whether it's written or it's in a video those words are the best way for you to separate yourself from the competition and stand out and usually the best ads don't sound like ads why because the ads that
sound like ads they will attract like two to 3% of the market who are ready to buy so if I'm just like if I wake up one day and I'm like right I need to invest in a mentor to help me get past 10K per month in my coaching business then yes if an ad pops up on my news feed and the guys like attention coaches who are who are struggling to get past 10K per month let us Implement our ABC system into your business I'm going to be like okay cool that's for me I'm
going to buy but how many people have that mindset where they're just ready to buy 1% 2% of the people who are like really deep in pain so you even if you do make some sales with your ads that are super direct and that sound like ads in the beginning they're going to burn out very quick because the majority of your Market AR hey I'm ready to buy most of them need convincing and if you start your relationship or engagement with them by screaming an offer at them they're not going to listen to you so
you need to sound like ads that don't crit sound like ads and you need to make it more organic and native to the platform so people don't just have a barrier up straight away and be like no this person's trying to sell me right you need people you need to write ads that pull people in connect to their pain points show them that you understand them and then you can offer them a solution because that way you've built up trust you built up credibility you've educated them and then you can provide them the solution and
that's how you convert a larger percentage of the market rather than just going like super direct with your ads and there's a lot more that I could you know go into on that you know you also don't want to go the other way so we worked with a client last year and they had ads that they they were basically like skits for Instagram like designed to kind of like go viral and We've ran them as ads because it was kind of like promoting their webinar and the cheapest clicks you will ever see the cheapest cpms
in a US audience I've not seen numbers like that for a very long time but guess what no one converted because the ad even though it didn't look like an ad it was so not like ad that people were confused when they actually had to buy something at the end they were like what I didn't realize this was pitching me something so there's actually it's like a a balance between not sounding too direct and selling straight away sounding like everyone else you also need to be strategic in a way where the not not consuming it
and they don't actually realize there's something to buy at the end because when you do present them that thing to buy at the end they're like whoa whoa what are you doing I don't realize there's something to buy right so it's a fine balance but number two you need to create ads that don't look like ads and then number three is scaling systems so this is a big one that people don't have and something that people struggle with a lot so typically what people will do is they'll run some ads and they'll test them and
they might you know make some money they might convert a little bit in the beginning but it's only a low budget so obviously they want to grow in scale right so they go to YouTube and they search how to scale Facebook ads and they'll get like different pieces of advice is from different people and you know they might duplicate the adsets they might duplicate it and put a bigger budget they might use a CBO campaign they might you know duplicate with a bigger budget or they might just like increase the budget of the testing adsets
like uh what do they say like 10 to 15 20% every like three to four days that's like a real common one or some people will be like oh don't touch the budget but you just need to create more creatives create more variations and that's how you scale and there's a lot of freaking advice out there and what happens is like you search YouTube and you take all these different pieces of advice and you try them all and none of them work sure maybe like you'll have a couple that kind of like do work but
it's not like a consistent process that you can rely on every single time because you might you know scale one adset and that works but then you scale like five more and they all flop and you lose a load of money and you end up like your whole campaign is tanks and it's not reliable or consistent so what you need is a proper scaling system and a process that you know every single time you have a winner in your testing campaigns you can in you can follow that scaling strategy and it can work the problem
is people are taking too much advice from different people on the internet testing too many different things and it's kind of like just throwing spaghetti at the wall and expecting it to stick which it's not going to so the best media buyers in the world right now have a bulletproof tested process that allows them to scale every time and look I'm not going to lie to you like even the best scaling systems like does 100% of the ads scale obviously not like even with our process you know if we have stuff that's working in the
testing phase it works a lot of the time but there will definitely be some adsets that don't work you know even if you follow the same process but the key is to get a process that works a majority of the time and only a few fail whereas most people have a process if you can call it that but it's not even a process it's just again just throwing SP spaghetti at the wall sometimes it will work most of the time it doesn't work and that's the issue so these are the biggest things that I see
that you need to have or you need to do in order to you know Master media buying and make money with Facebook ads okay so those are the three things and that is what I want to teach you guys so yeah this is the pitch I suppose um this week I basically for some of you might be new um I don't ever really talk about it directly on this channel I I maybe at the very beginning maybe a few years ago um but I never really talk about it um I pretty much just make videos
and then the only thing I ever really do is you know I might say hey I've got like a the media bu a memo which is like a free newsletter where I send out like advertising training two to three times a week and that's free and it's in the description of all my videos so that's the only really like call to actions I do in my videos um and then I so I don't really talk about it publicly honestly um but I have a Facebook advertising training program called media bi a Mastery now I do
