I did over 100 Facebook ad accounts audits this and last year here are 12 weirdest things I saw in the ad accounts some are funny some are very sad please make sure you're not doing these number one there's one at account that had a predetermined lifetime budget their monthly campaign basically March 80k April 100K May 100K no matter the performance that campaign was turned off on the last day of the month and a new one was relaunched often with the same ads but I asked the founder why is that he told me that his media
buyer told him this is how it's supposed to be because Facebook restarts at the start of the month you can imagine his reaction when I told him this is not how it works number two one guy told me he did not have time to check the Ed account for more than a month what's even crazier the results Were Somehow okay considering nobody touched anything for such a long time do I need to mention how much extra money he could have made if he just did a basic optimization and turned off bad ads and bad adsets
and increase the budget on good ones that's how you actually maximize the efficiency of Facebook ads by proper optimization number three one guy told me that he turns off all of his campaigns at 11:00 a.m. he saw that performance was better in the morning and he just kept ads active in the morning not even using day party but just manually turning off the campaigns and he asked me if I do the same I told him that nobody is doing that and my ads are always active that Facebook is pretty good at allocating the budget towards
the time of the day users would buy he was super surprised he thought everybody was doing the same thing as he number four one guy had all of the assets on $20 budget no matter the results when I asked why told me that someone told him that increasing the budget is going to mess up the results and the guy was spending 2 3K a day do some ad to calculate the number of active adets there what a wased opportunity was that ad account number five one guy told me that he's not adding new ads unless
he turns off some other existing ad basically he had a fixed number of ads in the ad account he wanted active and that's it I believe the number was around 15 or 20 I tried to talk some sense to him and explain to him that he was actually limiting himself but he had his own calculations and didn't want to make any changes number six one girl had a Ross of 14 when I checked the breakdown by attribution settings over 90% of the sales were coming from a viewr conversions she didn't know what that even means
she told me that the brand has a super strong organic presence and Community which was driving lot of the conversions and Facebook was just claiming a lot of the sales due to the view through attribution setting no wonder Facebook did not had an impact on the overall results and the Shopify Revenue because Facebook was not incremental at all if you're an Ecom brand spending at least 50k a month on Facebook ads you want to make sure you're not doing these stupid mistakes just apply for a free audit of your ad account below number seven one
guy launched his own campaign in the middle of our ad account management and reach out to me on slack to tell me that he created a better campaign when I asked him what he meant he said that he brought down the CPC to under $0.2 compared to our over $1 when I checked the ad account it turned out that he launched a traffic campaign when I told him that's totally different campaign time and traffic campaign would always have lower CPC but you would get people that would click but probably never end up buying he said
doesn't make sense because CPC is is better and he'll take over the Ed account management because he will get a better Ross with a lower CPC number eight when I asked one guy to provide me access to the Ed account so I can do the audit as he said he could not as he doesn't have the access to it it turned out that his current agency is the owner of the Ed account and he never saw anything that was happening in the account they just sent him monthly reports and that said this was a major
red flag to me both for the agency and for a brand but I guess he just didn't know better nine one guy had over 50 campaigns in each campaign only one adset in each adset only one ad always talk about trusting Facebook to properly distribute the budget this took me back into 2017 and the days of the Michigan method one guy told me that his Advantage shopping plus is crushing when I checked the percentage cap for existing buyers it wasn't even set an advantage shopping plus had Ross for existing customers over 10 and for new
customers under one imagine his facial expressions when I told him why that's not a good thing and when he thinks that he's doing the prospecting he was actually just scooping the sales from the existing customers which would probably happen either way a proove for that was a frequency over 9ine number 11 one girl had six ad accounts in total which were spending maybe 3K a day when I asked why she said that her media buyer told her that he could not scale any differently and that he needed even more ad accounts to scale further they
need to mention that all of these accounts could be part of just three four different campaigns number 12 I was on a call with one founder he said that his brand team is all of the ads after 3 4 weeks to refresh them no matter the performance what a blasphemy I said that that doesn't make sense at all and he said that they care about the brand image and then don't want to look too salesy and annoying to their prospects expected them to be spending 50k a day but it turned out they are spending barely
1K a day if you want someone to check your ad account to make sure you're not using this dumb mistakes apply for the ad account audit below if you're not at that stage yet that you're spending 50k just subscribe subscribe so you don't miss any entertaining content about Facebook ads
