[Music] hello Geeks and Gamers Noel here and this week we're going to be doing another lore legend video but instead of a deity we're going to be looking at the tumultuous history of one of garan's more fledgling nations brevoy in the broken lands but before we get into that please allow me to show you how you can support the Geeks and Gamers tabletop Channel please consider supporting us on our mission to bring guilt-free gaming to the tabletop Community by liking this video subscribing to our Channel and possibly even becoming a channel member for access to
exclusive videos Geeks and Gamers tabletop emojis and more if you found this video particularly helpful please consider leaving a tip using the super thanks feature located next to the like buttons at the bottom of the video revoy is a nation in the northeastern part of the continent of Aviston it lies north of the riverlands and to the east of of numia it's part of a region known as the broken land now broy is relatively young as far as Garian standards go however it has a long history which threatens to tear the nation apart Bry was
born of two OFW Waring Nations isia and Rosland rosers worked the rich farmlands of the region while the Ian Sailors dominated the shipping on the numerous Rivers Rosland often felt their labor was exploited by the taxes of the sly isin salers all the isens argued that they supplied the ships and negotiated the trade agreements that brought wealth to everyone the coming of coral the Conqueror changed all of this after securing the defeat and surrender of the two Nations Coral established his family house raria and the new nation of brevoy was founded coral and the house
raria only ruled for a decade when they mysteriously disappeared in 4699 AR this left the other noble families to pick up the pieces But ultimately the nation fell back into its centuries old disagreements eventually house sirova gained the upper hand and has a fragile hold on Breo today now now the legend of Coral's conquering has received a fair bit of embellishment over the centuries the legend states that Coral arrived at needle Lake current day known as Lake rayall he was accompanied by a ragtag band of soldiers numbering about 300 he immediately declared the new nation
of brevoy that would Encompass the land of Rosland and isia this declaration was promptly ignored by the two Nations as neither perceived Coral as a threat however rosers were eventually forced to deal with coral as he began to send out tax collectors from his settlement in new Stan Rosland sent a small army however they found that they had been walked into an ambush they were lured into a River Canyon south of new Stan where Coral Unleashed his secret red dragon allies leaving few survivors the Dragon then rampaged across Rosland proper forcing the Rosland Lords to
surrender seeing this Devastation the Ian Lords also surrendered declaring themselves part of Coral's new aristocracy in truth Coral arrived in brevoy by crossing the lake of Mists and veils from labaria which lays to the east of current brevoy there he met with Lord Niko Sova of isia who immediately surrendered in exchange for house or TOA to retain their Prestige and possessions only then did Coral turn his attentions to Rosland which did fall much the same way Legend recounts since The Disappearance of Coral's family the seven major houses tenuously tie Breo together they are house Gus
house Lea which can trace back to the original Rosland house Lova house mened house orlovski house raria and house Sova which can trace back to the native isens most families can trace their lineage back before Coral's Invasion but others were barbarians Raiders and Pirates Who were elevated by pledging FIY to the Conqueror males lead each house with the eldest son inheriting the title and estate women can be Regents for male heirs until they turn 15 however families tend to be large preferring to ensure two sons an air and a spare so to speak since the
founding there have been innumerable marriages of Alliance among the major houses a recent alliance between Cova and La beta which would have symbolically United Rosland and isia fell apart when Natalia Cova accused Lord Lander laa of treason much of brevoy lays very far north where Winters are long and harsh the only extensive arable land lies in restov on the southern border with the river kingdoms restov remains one of the major exporters of food stuff in the region iian Traders control the ships and trade so they keep most of the profits themselves this continues to fuel
the considerable resentment from the Rosland responsible for producing the goods and seek to have the wealth distributed more equally the isans counter that more than a small amount of their profit is reinvested in their fleets which are responsible for generating most of the nation's wealth cloth books finished good and spices are the main Imports common exports are copper fur fish and shellfish Rin salt and Timber Stone construction is uncommon for the region and most of the buildings here are made of wood peasants comprise most of the population in bre boy and owe taxes and FIY
to one of the housel Lords they work Dawn till Dusk farming if in Rosland and either fishing or mining if Isa household chores fill their days if it's winter and farming and fishing cannot be done mostly they live simply and try to avoid the notice of the Nobles Talon humans make up most of the brao population but the nation's broad cultural tolerance results in many ethnicities calling bro home this also results in a broad range of languages however hollot and common are mostly spoken fasma is the most most beloved deity in the nation but abidar
and gorum are also popular and there's a smattering of aristel and lash to worship across the country if you are a player and Breo sounds like just the place you'd like to call home you will be a no short supply of options for your character brevoy is a very diverse nation and this may be owed to it owing its Southern border with the river kingdoms you would find every species background and class from across Garian here but if you're looking to flavor your character with one of the original inhabitants as the Rosander and the Ians
there are also some options in the Lost Omen World guide there is the dedication for aldori swordlord now this leans more towards the Roslin uh side of the nation it would allow you to have studed under one of the elori sword Lords and hopefully practice your skills and become a sword Lord yourself and it would offer you Feats like alori orose which would allow you to either strike or disarm your foes as a reaction if they critically fail a strike against you but if a river fairing Ian sounds like more your thing you could try
out the swashbuckler class available in the Advanced players handbook as the Ians were essentially Pirates prior to Coral's conquering this class focuses on your character having wit as fast as their Rapier and depending on the designation you choose you could dance around your foes to dodge their blows and gain advantage or perhaps slip past their defenses and strike them when they least expected if you're a GM and you're thinking about using brevoy as a campaign setting it's a really good Nation to explore the politics of the aristocracy since the great houses are always quarreling with
one another about this and that and your players could certainly be part of the common folk being tasked with um accomplishing things for varying houses while trying to navigate uh the politics uh they in but I rather like the idea that your players are actually sort of the third and fourth offspring of these great houses different houses maybe ones that are at odds with one another and have to work together to accomplish um a goal for the greater good of the nation um now you will not be short of any diversity in the setting as
brevoy has Raging Rivers Placid Lakes sprawling farmland and even icy Shores to the north so certainly plenty of diversity in setting for you to set your tasks that will be all for today's lore legend video thank you so much for watching and I hope you found this information useful tell me what you think of the nation of bread boy in the comments below would you like to have a character that hailed from there please also remember to like share and subscribe to the video and consider joining us over on gilded where you can chat with
