when I first started yeah I thought I was late like dang why didn't I do this 10 years ago you know 15 years ago but as I kind of went through it it it opens up your eyes and your mind to oh wow there's lots of opportunity there's kind of with the Walmart metaphor you're going to find some empty shelves and people are looking for stuff on those empty shelves it's hard to learn from someone who's like five steps ahead of you it's the easiest to learn for someone one step ahead of you because it's
like more relevant and that's when I want like if I interview people who are you know one step of success to 10 steps of success we'll have kind of a nice little ladder system of of knowledge but yeah tell me about the how youve been doing so far with the business what uh where you at with everything I know you didn't launch too long ago so I'd love to hear an update of uh how you're doing there we launched in the beginning of October okay so about five months ago um the launch went pretty good
October seemed okay November picked up really well I mean it's Q4 so it was uh I thought it went pretty good so November was fun and then of course December um was was fantastic so that was really good and then when you say fantastic what does that mean um you know 12,000 in Revenue I you know I wouldn't expect that so that was pretty fun that's like your second third month right that was the third month yeah yeah okay that's fantastic you know there was search volume went up um all the rank you know keyword
ranking was way up ke ranking was pretty good for um those three months so that was that was fun to watch um and then uh so now then January and February of course a normal slowdown so now we're uh working on our second order that should be coming soon and we are also working on basically feels like almost another launch so I'm working on Twitter and X ads um that I recently learned with uh rul and I forgot the other guy's name Andrew most likely Andrew yes yes exactly so they did a great video I
think January at the end of January so actually I kind of I think I finished my first Twitter ad yesterday so I've been working through all that that's been super fun so that's what we're doing now getting the second order coming in matching that up with the next Twitter basically a Twitter campaign and uh really excited for that and then behind that I'm also I got connected with a local manufacturer for um some uh what they do is a lot of extracts so they take Natural ingredients and they extract them um so I'm working on
a branding with their with their products and I found some keywords and some niches for that so kind of going through the whole process again of going through you know the second the second go which is really exciting um and while keeping the first the first product TR along so and then of course life right so it's all all these balls and all the time management um that goes into it but I love that stuff so it's all about organizing and and taking lots and lots of notes and so yeah very exciting very cool man
congrats that's that's so cool um obviously I'm sure you have some larger goals but like for you know I know you worked hard on your first product being involved in that process and how long that took so to see kind of that wouldn't say instant gratification but like that fce Q4 kind of success I'm sure that was like a load off your shoulders of like hey this is possible this is real like I can do this right yeah you do the research you get ready but you really don't know I'm guessing after a few launches
and you get more experience you can handle that more but for the first time of anything it's it's scary it's it's exciting it's it's all the thing so yeah going October and November is like I don't even know if one GL you know if one thing's GNA sell you know but uh that's why we do the research right and and there's some confidence there that you build and like okay yeah everything should be good then and then when it kind of happens a little bit um yeah it's a great great feeling that's cool man very
cool and so you're working on your second product which is is big and huge um cool do you have any uh aspirations to like grow a brand as far as that first product and build around it or kind of are you just kind of playing the field and kind of see what's your what's your Niche going be with the first product yeah I would love to see it I'm definitely going to work towards a goal such as that U keep keep on it um I'm already thinking about the third order and um maybe do like
a next variation of improvements or changes as I get more and more feedback and yeah that I think that's the goal to have that first brand in that Niche and have it grow maybe um add to it um there's other products I want to attach to that brand I think um that can go that could go well on Amazon with some other keywords but yeah that's definitely the goal yeah for sure what to kind of Bring It Back what's the what kind of brought you into the Amazon FBA space What convinced you that Amazon FBA
was kind of the the business model to to invest in for you that's a great question um yeah that's that's uh been going on for a few years now now I'm thinking about it um I first kind of learned about it from my wife's friend they posted a link to some um Amazon FBA training course okay like ah that that sounds interesting so we did that um few years back and ever since then it was just something like man that sounds really interesting so I kept going down the rabbit hole um I found you on
YouTube so I started going down that rabbit hole um and so you just keep going and then uh finally decided to join AWA with you guys and um I think my initial my initial thought is let's see where this goes It looks interesting right Amazon's huge from the outside looking in it seems like wow there's there's opportunity there it just feels like it right Amazon's such a such a huge huge company and they have so many customers so once you kind of learn what what FBA means and what it means to sell something on there
um it got me really exciting and so the end goal for me is I think a lot of people is to kind of have a free for your time up I do have my normal normal job and my my ninet to-5 job and so uh I don't want to do that forever and U my kids are getting older and so it'll be it'll be great just to have some to build something where you get it free your time up have a little Financial Freedom one day and uh all those things that go along with that
yeah absolutely man absolutely I think a big thing um for a lot of people do you think it's been a lot less stress for you keeping your ninet to-5 while building this business so you don't have to like Rush decisions like you know I I personally didn't have a job when I first started this business and I I regretted that I just watched my bank account dwindle and dwindle and I made rash decisions very quickly do you think it's been like obviously not easy because of time sake but like easy for you to be patient
because it's like you know you have your ninet to-5 you know you have income coming in see be patient make more long-term decisions do you think that's been a factor for you in kind of how you built the business so far yeah I think um for sure yeah definitely um the easy answer is yes um I didn't didn't have uh I didn't feel like I had the pressure of like man I gota you know really really jump on the Amazon stuff and and push really hard um yeah I did have to balance life and my
regular job with what I do with Amazon so um on The Good Sense yeah I kind of took my time went through all the steps and did all the things um but then that probably prolonged you know took me a little bit longer than what it could have but yeah no for sure you know you get what you you know the time you put into anything is what what you're going to get out so yeah but for me in my situation yeah I thought it um yeah it felt like a comfortable position that I was
in I didn't have to really just make whatever decisions I kind of took my time I basically yeah yeah gotcha man very cool I like um to just how you said that Amazon has so many customers uh you might have heard me say this but just kind of repeat it like I still think we're at the tip of the iceberg with like Amazon and e-commerce uh I don't know if you watch any of my videos or kind of post about this but I think last Commerce report by the census the the bureau census whatever they
call it the US Bureau of census or whatever uh I think it was like 16 to 17% of all retail sales happened online of all America only 177% I would have thought that been like 50 60% of all sales happen online but it's still only like 16 17% as of last quarter so you know to me that's really exciting because Amazon's always probably going to be the leader for the foreseeable future you know have its Run online like Walmart did in retail uh in person for a long time and so you know say that goes
to 50% over the next 10 years which you could see that happening like online shopping is just G to get bigger and bigger like that's a 3X in traffic online right so to me right now sounds like a great time to like get in lock your products to the top of the search ranks and just like grow like an asset obviously there's more to it than that but that's kind of the exciting stuff uh is like I feel like people think it's over but we're still pretty early right like you know you saw the first
gold rush yeah you can't throw yoga mat up there and just win like there's more to it now um yeah and the cool thing is you know Amazon's like a Walmart with like infinite shelves where you just like you just keep walking in new niches just appear and that'll always be the thing where products evolve and stuff like that so I thought it was cool because a lot of people come in and they you thought it was exciting a lot of people think oh like I'm late I'm really late did you ever think you're late
in this game or did you just think it was kind of cool or going through the process from a few years ago when I first started yeah I thought I was late like dang why didn't I do this 10 years ago you know 15 years ago whatever um every once in a while I think well who knows what Amazon was in the 90s right I remember it was just hey I'm going to order a book online um why didn't I invest in stock in Amazon then who knew what Amazon was going to be you know
only Amazon but um maybe in the very beginning when I was first starting this process but as I kind of went through it and for sure definitely an awa here and learning the real insides the real nuts and bolts I think um kind of like what you just said it it opens up your eyes and your mind to oh wow there's lots of opportunity there's kind of with the Walmart um metaphor you know you're going to find some empty shelves and people are looking for stuff on those empty shelves you got to just go find
that yeah I think I think there's plenty of empty shelves plenty of opportunity um but you got to you got to learn you got for me having AWA was huge you got to have some some support a community that uh up your mind you have to see yeah you have to see like how it's done how to be Su like yeah otherwise you're just kind of guessing and checking which you know it's G to take you longer I kind of did that for a year kind of oh I could try and figure this out but
after you know one good number of months I was like Noah I need I need help yeah yeah yeah no I understand that's funny uh and when I did started in 2017 I thought I was late I was like why didn't I do this five years ago right yeah yeah so you always think you're late you know always you could always be earlier so I think that's just like a mental trap people people get themselves into um but it's a natural reaction right because yeah what you you see success and you're like oh man I
can't have that success but um I think everyone learns as you kind of learned the business is hey there's new success to be to be had there's there's new niches New Opportunities new ways to do stuff exactly yeah uh question for you like if you had like one key piece of advice you give someone still working on their they're finding their first product what would they be because obviously you're working on your second product now you already get your first product launched and I know just going the process through you took you a while for
your first product do you have any advice for someone still going through that process struggling finding that first product yeah yeah um I think any do matter what product first product or the 10th one um you have to I think for me you have to find uh what what you're interested in I I think that's a really um or made it easy for me um I got a I feel like I have a lot a big project product list right but in term terms of uh do they all work who knows so I feel like
my product research list is not the issue is kind of going through and really pulling what what could work out of there um so I would say for new folks on their first product is look into stuff that you that you're interested in or that you want or that you um think um that you can use but doesn't really exist yet or hey I have this thing you know I have I have this mouse or you can't see it but hey can this mouse be different Can it have a different shape or can you add
something to it um so that's how that's what I've been thinking about um is and you you kind of say that in your through your videos and and all that stuff but I think I think it's an important part um what do you touch every day what what do folks or what do they have a passion about like hey I really um want to learn about window shades or blinds you know is there you know whatever I don't know but I think that's a really good component I think that helps because then once you have
that interest or your mind thinks like that or about about that category um then ideas start to flow from that and I think it makes I think it makes the process a little bit it is a tough process no matter what but I think that helps for sure I agree if if there's anytime you can combine like your passion and your knowledge what you use to like the actual like Amazon data and knowing that product has potential that's like such a win you know it's not easy to do like you said but that's a massive
win because that's you have more longevity that way because you actually enjoy the niche you have better ideas to add value because you're you're a customer yourself so you understand what's missing so I think that's massive um yeah treat yourself as the customer yeah yeah so yeah I think that's a great great point and I think that's hard to do if you're not because you go you learn to product research right hey I could do these steps I could punch in all the stuff and I come up with a list and that's good that's a
good starting point but um when I was going through that I felt it was hard to kind of pull stuff out of that General overall list like I wanted to kind of um start with niches that come to my mind so you know now it's it's so hard to turn off like you were saying you go to the store or you go whatever on vacation you're like oh what what's that is that on Amazon you know oh man it's it's pretty fun yeah it's addicting for sure exactly exactly well very cool man uh so you
said you launched in October um and then you did you get sales October November you said you don't you didn't know if you're GNA sell one and then obviously December was your oh no that was kind of yeah yeah that was kind of like my mentality when I first launched like I have no idea what's going to happen so in October you're like oh man you know it goes live that first weekend and you're super excited and yeah you just have no idea so when the sales start going you're like oh wow this is this
is great so yeah there were some sales in October November was pretty good December was really good um so yeah so that was I was that's what I made for like my first product was um before I got a sale you're like you know I don't know like I think you know based on the research I did I think things will go so yeah you don't know until you know yeah yeah until you go through it right what with um you know obviously having a good November having a $112,000 um you know December was there
anything you did to kind of prep your launch to help with that do you think there's anything that like helped you hit that level obviously Q4 helps huge traffic but you're a brand new product like you must have done a couple things right to get that exposure and ride that momentum uh in December I think the niche I picked was was was good like it I found something or I tried to put a product there that I thought there was a void of so I think I did I did that pretty good um basically going
back to hey what would I want in in a niche that probably has a void right so I kind of went down that road um and then yeah just following all all the all the steps you you lay out in AWA um I think brand registry and having amazing photos is really good uh um I think that kind of separated me because when I looked at my competition um I think I I W up I kind of upgraded that based on those two things um and uh what else was I going to say brand registry
for sure all the upfront work um oh and I haven't done and I plan on doing that soon but um I haven't done a plus contact no not yet okay no so that will be definitely The Next Step um I I think I kind of did that on purpose well I kind of saw some success and so maybe you know good or bad I wanted to see what what it was going to do just with what I did so far and um so now the next step will be A+ content and and you know continue
to to change it and whatnot so but I think setting it up with good photos brand registry um oh and the Vine Program that's what I want to say I think the Vine Program because I have brand registry uhhuh was huge CU that those those first 30 reviews um very very difficult easiest reviews you'll ever get in your life is the buy program yeah yeah and so um having that was huge because not I think we're at over 50 now just over just over 50 reviews so just think you know if you take 30 away
I mean that takes man it would be yeah take a long time just to build up those first 30 yeah difference between 20 and 50 reviews is a lot for a new product that's a massive Gap U I like what you said about Niche right like even at 30 40 50 reviews you're at if you didn't take the time to pick the right product like that wouldn't happened right because you just went a random field 50 reviews is nothing but obviously you found a market that had a hole to fill had some maybe some crappy
competitors like you talked about because your you said your photos was a huge Advantage I will challenge you to go get A+ content done because you will see a boost in conversion rate uh so I do challenge you to go do that but that's that's Co it's on the list for sure yeah yeah you got time you got time but uh no that's all good advice that's all good advice because starts with the product man uh then it's it's on from there it's reviews and and just doing the basics to to give yourself the best
chance for your competitors so beautiful was there any like mistakes to this process whether from beginning to end any mistakes you have regrets about anything like that um I think looking back at the whole process I think for me I could do better was timing of stuff so for instance do you know once I got the product Niche and the keywords down I think okay let's let's shoot for that um doing the supplier research and narrowing down the supplier and the samples that that took me a lot a lot of months I think I could
have done a better job there instead of doing um just some messages here and there or some emails here and there uh it took me a while to get um to get that conversation going and to get stuff really flowing so it just it was a slow process for me I would send a message they would send a message back in a couple days I was trying to be responsive maybe it took me a few days to get you know some replies back to the first s or whatever um things like that so I think
helping being more efficient on the uh on getting the product the samples and coordinating with the suppliers um I could have saved a lot I think I could have saved a lot of time there um but that's okay uh I learned a lot um and I think I got a decent system of I kind of took your advice and the community templates and stuff and kind of ran with those and once that kind of get going I think I started building some momentum on how my brain works and how I put information down and communicate
that with uh with folks in China and stuff so it all ended up just fine but I definitely took a lot of months okay to go through a couple of sample iterations and and get all that dialed in okay so if you did anything differently it'd be just just maybe pushing forward a little faster and being maybe a little bit more aggressive with communication with suppliers yeah maybe yeah yeah no for sure yeah be more more responsive um and um more direct maybe yeah so and thing the other that came to my mind is um
uh ah I just look my mine I we were talking about product research and getting samples H it'll come back it'll come back something with suppliers with suppliers yeah yeah um Freight forwarding samples inspections yeah no all that went really well I thought the freight forwarding went really smooth um with those guys inspections went good um oh one one regret yes okay so with samples um I think I should have done or I could done more um reviews or research or ask more um for help for my initial samples so maybe send that to friends
or even maybe an influencer and say hey review this new product for me um have other folks done that I think that would be my one regret is I didn't do more sample product reviews before my final product yeah I think I could I think that would help that's massive yeah yeah so that' be my one my one regret you know I think one of the biggest mistakes people make and I'm I'm guilty of this too is uh we don't treat this this like a real like our real business we think this is kind of
magical internet money where we're just kind of like skip steps but think of a product that like you invented in your garage like it feels fake because it's coming from China and like it's not real until you have it in your hands and so like everything's online right yeah yeah everything's online and you're not touching it and you don't feel it that's why I almost like people like getting their first order delivered to themselves because it's like the first moment where it feels real even though that's inent thinking about that stuff yeah yeah it's inefficient
you know obviously you're a metal man it's going to Tak a little bit extra money to get into Amazon but that's when it's like real that's when you feel it you're like this is a real thing otherwise it's just kind of like it's just like magical stuff you don't see yeah uh but people don't treat this as a business where it's like you know if you really invented this thing you'd probably be on the streets wherever your people are hanging out with like have you seen this have you checked this out like all your friends
and family like this look what I made do you have any AD like what do you think right um same thing with influencers obviously if it's very niched getting in the hands of people who would actually use it is massive right because either they love it or they're like this sucks tell me why like that's you you want to hear that he feedback right yeah feedback right so yeah I think that's U that's great advice man great advice cool yeah okay what um so anybody like we live in a day of social media very we
want things very quickly obviously building a business in three to three months to to 12 months isn't a very long time but in today's age it feels very long that we don't have progress and don't have results do any advice for people who are kind of struggling with uh you know making this kind of a long-term mindset business or tell me more about how you view it if you do view it a long term and what that kind of looks like for yourself yeah advise for um new folks yeah it's kind of um I think
it has to be a long term long-term Vision um Amazon is not a uh do something quickly and have quick quick return there's there's time time in there but when you think about if you did it any other way um it's it's super fast um like you were saying big companies spend years figuring out a new product or any changes to their product so to do something in a few months or less than a year is amazing so I think your mindset has to be along those lines where yeah six over six months feels like
a long time but it's actually really really fast so I think that's the opportunity with Amazon you could do stuff really fast um so it's a mindset um my long-term goals are are just that like I'm I'm in the position of I just want to do whatever it takes to build to build some Brands and um make kind of like what you were saying make make them real um because it does it does feel like oh it's just an internet email thing right now um but it is a real business and you treat it like
one it'll it should become one one day um so that's that's my that's my mindset so I think it's a mindset thing um if you come in hey I should have everything done knocked out have a beautiful product in three months it's possible but um it also could take longer so I question the longevity of that product too for reasons we talked about earlier right like you could you can go find a good opportunity quickly and throw it up there and you might make good money for three to six months but if it's just like
another me too product meaning that it just looks every it's very easy to copy you didn't do any market research you're just going to get flooded with competitors and this just become a price war in six months it's too saturated where if you do the things like you talked about like go talk to people in your Niche get really good advice on making this the best product possible then you're kind of in a league of your own you've done something that no one else has done the hard work and you know maybe it took you
an extra two months to do that research and get the samples and make the iterations but now instead of a six-month product you have a product that's going to last for years and you can build upon so that to me that's like where my mindset goes is like let's do it yes it sucks to wait another four weeks for this but let's do it right the first time because you know I rather I rather something would last for years than just in six months I'm going to be banging my head against the wall cuz I
didn't make that extra effort so yeah no that's great yep I I agree cool man cool well I appreciate you uh hanging with me here do that congrats again for your your 12K month and uh 50 reviews now I think you said I'm excited for you to get to 100 200 excited for you to get A+ content uh and your second product keep me keep me posted on that that's very fun yeah for sure do you have uh anything else You' like to add any additional advice um no I think we covered it pretty well
you know some really good questions and I think um yeah time management trying not to have any big regrets you know get all those samples figured out and reviewed and um have the right mindset and yeah you should be doing great sweet man well you're the man I appreciate you doing this and yeah nothing but more success in the future for you for sure thanks a lot you're welcome [Music] he
