And, you know, when it's time, it's time, and I'm real my I'm real myself to know that, you know, it's time.
You know, a lot of boxers don't think it's time, and they just keep going keep going keep going, >> [music] >> but I know after tonight, you know, y'all want to see me again in the ring. >> Terence Crawford offered an honest assessment after Errol Spence Jr. 's unanimous decision loss to Tim Tszyu and the former champion's subsequent retirement announcement.
Crawford admitted it was difficult to watch his long-time rival struggle, saying Spence looked slow, had balance issues, and just didn't have it tonight. Despite their fierce rivalry, Crawford revealed he had hoped Spence would perform well and supported his decision to retire, noting that years of grueling wars had taken their toll. He also praised Tszyu for executing a smart, patient game plan, crediting the Australian with earning a deserved victory.
>> What do you think, man? >> Tszyu Yeah. Just didn't have it.
Yeah. From the jump, you could tell that his balance was off. He was reaching.
You know, he just didn't have it tonight. >> Mhm. >> You know, >> Do you think it was the layoff?
Do you think it was a combination of things? Like, what do you think? >> All right, all of it.
>> All of it? >> Yeah. He didn't take the punches well.
He was slow. >> [music and singing] >> Like, you could just tell that Tim was more fresher. >> Was it hard for you to watch?
>> Uh kind of, you know, I I really wanted him to do real well. He did He did what he had to do to finish the fight, though. You know.
>> Hopefully, he comes over here. >> On ya, Errol. All the best, Errol.
Relax, ya mate. God bless. >> Reacting to Errol Spence Jr.
's retirement, Bill Haney praised the former unified welterweight champion for leaving boxing on his own terms, despite the disappointing loss to Tim Tszyu in Australia. Haney posted on X, "Errol Spence retiring in Australia isn't the best look, but you have to respect a man leaving the game on his feet, financially secure, and able to take care of his family. " Ryan Garcia urged Errol Spence Jr.
to step away from boxing following his loss to Tim Tszyu, saying the outcome was expected given Spence's recent form. While acknowledging Spence's accomplishments, Garcia said the former unified welterweight champion had not looked like his best self for some time, and believed retirement was the right decision. Garcia tweeted, "It was pretty clear that Errol was going to lose.
It's time for Errol to retire. Nothing but respect for Errol, but he hasn't been in his top form for a long time. I hope the best for him in his retirement and for for life, but hang it up.
protect your health. Gary Russell Jr. shared his concern for Errol Spence Jr.
following the former champion's loss to Tim Tszyu, saying the result was not his biggest worry. Russell revealed he had not seen Spence putting in the kind of visible training that fans had become accustomed to before previous fights, raising questions about his preparation heading into the bout. >> I'm not sure.
Um I don't know how how Errol is. I ain't seen him train. I still had my reservations before he even fought um before he even fought uh Terence.
Um I had my reservations then. I felt like maybe I felt I felt like I wanted him to get a little more healthier mentally. >> Yeah.
>> You know, I felt like I mean, uh granted they got doctors, but I felt like it was something slightly neurologically wrong with Errol going into the fight. I don't know if that had something to do with the car accident or anything like that or the short. Um so, maybe he took the time to really revamp himself and [music] get back to who he was before everything, but um I still have concerns about that.
>> Gary Russell Jr. suggested several factors may have contributed to Errol Spence Jr. 's defeat against Tim Tszyu, including major changes behind the scenes before the fight.
Russell pointed out that Spence had parted ways with long-time trainer Derrick James and entered camp with veteran coach Ronnie Shields, a significant adjustment after years of working with the same team. He also admitted he hadn't seen Spence training with the same intensity or visibility as in previous camps, leading him to question whether everything was right heading into the bout. Above all, Russell said his biggest concern is Spence's mental and physical well-being, stressing that life after boxing is far more important than any result inside the ring.
>> And let's add in also the fact that he's with a new trainer, very well-respected trainer Ronnie Shields. >> Yeah, yeah, you know, um all of that matters. You know, you got a new trainer.
When you have new trainers, it's different than just going out there getting a trainer. You have to have a certain level of trust and belief. You have to have chemistry with this person.
You have to believe that even when everything is going wrong to have a certain level of belief, trust, and faith to go out there and attempt to execute this the the stuff that's been given to you. Is he going to be confident enough in that relationship that they're building with one another within this short period of time? I don't know.
I do believe that just stylistically what I am accustomed to with Errol Spence and and Tim Tszyu, I think stylistically it will be a great fight. >> Veteran trainer Johnny Lewis hailed Tim Tszyu's unanimous decision victory over Errol Spence Jr. as a career-defining performance, praising the Australian for sticking to a disciplined game plan and proving his critics wrong.
Lewis said Tszyu showed maturity, patience, and composure against one of boxing's most accomplished former champions, refusing to be drawn into unnecessary exchanges. He also commended Tszyu's conditioning and relentless pressure, which wore Spence down over the second half of the fight. >> Johnny Lewis, what do you think of that?
>> Um [music] good performance for us. Uh Tim the authority, the controller, the dictator. Uh I thought he won well.
>> What do you make of Jeff in his corner? Obviously a victory is a great thing. >> Well, he's a he's a lot better than what he's had in there in the past.
>> What's it like to say this happened? This event and a victory like this, what does it mean for you to see something like this in Australia, I suppose? >> Breathing fire into our sport, so wonderful, wonderful.
>> Terence Crawford praised Tim Tszyu following his impressive victory over Errol Spence Jr. , crediting the Australian for delivering a disciplined and intelligent performance. Crawford said Tszyu followed his game plan from start to finish, applied constant pressure, and capitalized on Spence's inability to match his pace.
While acknowledging that Spence was no longer at his peak, Crawford insisted Tszyu still deserved full credit for beating a former unified welterweight champion. >> What do you think of how Tim fought? Tim Tim did what Tim had to do to get the victory.
>> Yeah. >> He was patient. He weighed in well to the body.
And, you know, he he threw the right hand, landed the right hand when he when he had to. And, he got the job done. >> How does he match up now with the guys at 54 or 60?
Guys like Boots, guys like Virgil Ortiz, in your opinion, Terence? >> [music] >> I don't see him coming back down uh 154. He looked real strong at 160, so we'll see him with Carlos Adames and all those guys.
>> All right. Good stuff, Terence. As always, thank you.
>> For sure. >> Nikita Tszyu believes his brother delivered the finest performance of his professional career in defeating Errol Spence Jr. Reflecting on the dominant victory, Nikita praised Tim's composure, ring IQ, and disciplined execution from the opening bell to the final round.
He said every aspect of Tim's game came together perfectly against a former unified world champion, calling it the most complete display he has produced in the ring. According to Nikita, the performance proved Tim has evolved into a world-class fighter capable of competing with boxing's elite and silenced any doubts surrounding his championship credentials. >> It was the perfect thing that he could have ever done.
He was smart. It's the Tim Tszyu that I know and that everyone knows. That's the most dangerous version of him, the the guy that thinks, stalks, and and detonates.
>> George Rose was full of praise for Tim Tszyu after his dominant victory over Errol Spence Jr. , saying the Australian looked so comfortable throughout the contest. Rose highlighted Tszyu's composure, sharp timing, and ability to control the pace against a former unified world champion, describing it as one of the most polished performances of his career.
He noted that Tszyu never appeared under pressure and executed the game plan with confidence from start to finish. Rose believes the emphatic win has firmly reestablished Tszyu among boxing's elite and puts him back in the conversation for the biggest fights in the sport. >> Tim's Tim's a lot more active than most fighters.
Um a break for him could mean that we we see him roll out again at the end of the year and who that's against we'll be working on over the next next few weeks, next few days. Um we'll work on a plan for for what's next for him because he said he likes likes fighting at 160. I thought he looked amazing at 160.
Um and I reckon there's some good fights there for him, too. >> There will be those out there that will um >> [clears throat] >> say that, you know, Spence is not what he once was. Response to that and how much credit does Tim Tszyu deserve tonight?
>> I think he deserves a lot of credit for what he did um given the journey that he's been on as well. I I think coming into this fight a lot of people said that they don't know what they'll see because you don't know what you're going to get from Errol, you don't know what you're going to get from Tim. Um I think he deserves credit for the performance that he put on, for how strong and how dominant he was.
Um and Errol himself said that he felt ready, that he felt good coming into that fight. So, uh give it the respect that it deserves. It was a good win.
It was a very, very good win. Where you want to rate it you know, amongst other wins, it's it's up to each person, but for Tim Tszyu to beat a legend, um a great American boxer in in Errol Spence Jr. , uh I think that's something that he deserves credit and and will be one of his greatest wins.
>> At the post-fight press conference, Tim Tszyu explained that moving up from 154 lb to 160 lb made a noticeable difference in his performance. He said he no longer had to drain himself to make weight, which left him feeling stronger, healthier, and more powerful in the ring. Tszyu believed this physical advantage allowed him to pressure and bully Errol Spence Jr.
rather than being pushed back. He also revealed that by round three, he knew he was in control of the fight and even thought he could stop Spence. His success came from sticking to a disciplined defense-first strategy of catching punches and countering effectively.
>> That's the first thing he said. Was that like my I think physicality was the was the difference. You know, um I was starving myself to get to 154.
And I feel a big difference at 160. I feel like um >> [snorts] >> Yeah, I just feel much stronger, you know. One of my big things is is is strength, being able to bully my opponents.
And I I felt like that's what I did. I was a bit actually being shocked. I thought you know, Errol Spence is a legend again.
Um but how I felt in front of him, just felt completely different. >> Errol Spence and >> Probably from round three onwards. And then I really felt like I was could stop him at one stage.
But then again, he knows how to bounce back. But again, he was on survival half the time. He was running around.
Um I was touching him up to the body. I think that was a big difference. Every time I hit him um straight right to the body, he was going uh You know, and sort of like me and me and him are the only ones I can hear hear that.
>> Adrien Broner was visibly emotional after learning that his long-time friend Errol Spence Jr. had suffered a unanimous decision defeat to Tim Tszyu. During a live stream, Broner initially appeared stunned by the result before expressing disappointment over Spence's performance.
Struggling to hide his emotions, the former four-division world champion admitted the loss was difficult to process and eventually walked off the stream, leaving viewers surprised by his reaction. Broner and Spence have shared a close friendship for years, making the defeat especially painful to witness. His heartfelt response reflected the respect and loyalty he has for Spence, with many fans praising Broner for showing genuine concern rather than focusing solely on the outcome of the fight.
>> know what to watch. Come on, man. >> Be done.
>> AND YOU RIPPING ME. >> TALK ON ME. >> OH, YOU ADRIAN.
>> TALK ON ME, BRONER. >> WHAT ARE you doing? YOU GETTING NAKED.
WE DON'T WANT TO KNOW WHAT YOU DOING. >> PAY ATTENTION to the chat, huh? >> I don't know what's going on.
>> Oh, uh-oh. What's about to happen? >> Analysts described Tim Tszyu's victory over Errol Spence Jr.
as a career-saving performance, saying the Australian delivered when the pressure was at its highest. They noted that after recent setbacks, Tszyu needed a defining win to remain among boxing's elite, and defeating a former unified world champion accomplished exactly that. He praised Tszyu's composure, disciplined game plan, and relentless pressure throughout the fight, adding that the victory restored his momentum and revived his standing in the sport.
>> I felt that like just the way the fight went. Everyone was saying Everyone apart from Paulie Malignaggi was saying the longer the fight goes, the more it favors Spence. He's going to pull away.
He's going to be too crafty. He's going to be too slick. >> Yeah.
>> It was more of a dog fight, more of a a battle in the trenches, I I felt. And even then, if the fight had gone that way, you asked me this yesterday, I thought I don't know how much is left in Tim's chin and his body. But he But came through.
He pulled through. I was really impressed with the way that he fought, with how he basically almost nullified what's everything Spence was trying to do. Spence went to the body.
Spence tried to fight in close. Spence tried to fight at range. No luck.
No luck anywhere. Super impressive, career saving, career changing win from Tim Tszyu. >> Yeah.
Yeah, I thought that was the thing, too, when when um Spence come in and and wanted to fight on the inside, I think he was surprised at Tim's defense on the inside. Yeah, he'll he landed some body shots. He probably landed double the body shots Tim Tszyu landed, but when he was in close, I don't think he could be as effective um or or damage Tim Tszyu in the way he thought.
And then, you know, that's when he started moving and and yeah, um I yeah, impressive performance from Tim Tszyu. >> Yeah, absolutely. In a recent interview before the fight, Errol Spence explained that although his family would prefer he retire and enjoy life on a ranch, his decision to return is personal because he genuinely loves boxing.
He rejected the idea that he's fighting simply to erase the memory of his last loss or to go out on his own terms. Instead, after slowly rebuilding his fitness, he realized he still enjoys training and believes he may have another run left. However, he isn't promising a title chase or a long comeback, saying he'll decide his future only after seeing how he performs against Tim Tszyu.
>> Okay, let's see how I do in this fight and we'll think about it or like, what are you thinking in terms of that? Like the future in the sport for you in boxing? >> Uh I'm not I'm really not just not thinking about anything.
Um this is really just for me, you know. The kids that the ki- the kids are great, you know, the family's good, you know, this is really, you know, just for me. Um If I if my if my family had it their way, you know, I'll be done and you know, ride off in the sunset and you know, on a ranch somewhere.
So, huh so this is you know, this is for me. >> What about it like for you is like you want to go out on your own terms? Like are you like, you know what, the last fight, that can't be the last fight like that people see me and I want to have another fight where I look good.
Like talk to a little bit about like this being for you. >> I mean people think too much of it saying that, you know, I want to go out on my own terms or the last fight this and that. Nah, I really just, you know, I'm somebody who who really enjoy doing boxing.
It's something I've been doing for a long time. And you know, and then I just stopped doing it cold, but you know, I just got the urge to do it again and you know, it's definitely hard coming back, but once I started training just, you know, put my all into it, you know, it got better. My body got adjusted to to training and things got a lot smoother and easier and I felt felt pretty normal.
Felt normal, so I was like, man, maybe I feel like I can make another run at this, so definitely, you know, going to make another run. >> Errol Spence Jr. delivered an emotional farewell message to his supporters after confirming his retirement following his loss to Tim Tszyu.

He also congratulated Tszyu on the victory and expressed gratitude to everyone involved in the event.
>> I like to say thank you to all my fans. I appreciate y'all this long journey, especially ones who've been with me through it all. Y'all have been seeing, you know, all the trials and different tribulations that I've been through.
>> [music] >> And you know, I thank y'all. We've been on a long journey. But you know, you got to you got to be smart enough to end the journey when it's time to end the journey and not uh keep going, [music] so I thank y'all.
I appreciate y'all. I love y'all. And thank y'all for the support.
