all right we're live we're back this is the second training in the series so the first training you should have watched that one first that was how do I come up with topics to make content about how do I figure out like what my topic Niche is second training we're back the slides are better I'm better we're better this one is how to generate unlimited content ideas for that topic so in the sequence you've got your topic now we're going to talk about how to generate unlimited content ideas and before I go into I want
to say this you're going to watch a lot of trainings you're going to watch a lot of help a lot of series people are going to give you the framework the strategy but they're not actually going to give you the answer you're going to go through and you're going to be like what do I do now like that was kind of helpful but I'm giving you the answer this is exactly what you should do I'll explain why to do it this way and kind of the rationale but I'm going to give you the answer if
you just watch through for free okay perfect let's do it so content ideas really come from two buckets you're sitting there you have a niche you're like what do I even talk about the two buckets are one reacting to things happening in your Niche or two generating new ideas new Frameworks New Concepts within your Niche those are the two angles the first bucket reacting to things happening in your Niche this would be like some news let's say let's say for this presentation that we're talking about tech like for me personally I make new tech and
cult brand videos let's just talk about like AI Tech this bucket is like hey open AI releases a feature or a product I'm making content reacting to that news that's what fits into this bucket or I could be maybe my favorite Creator MKBHD he creates a video about the open AI release and I'm making content reacting to his video so it's like a reaction to a reaction so it's really all based on the source of what you're talking about has already been created now this is the easiest path to start with because it doesn't require
you coming up with consistently new ideas if you subscribe to the right things which I'm going to go over you're just going to get interesting news in your Niche presented to you every day and then your job is to figure out which one to pick which we'll talk about but that's why this is easier now the trade-off is it's harder to cut through with this type of content because if you're in Tech there's 20 Tech creators in AI that just react to news and so if your perspective is not unique it's going to be very
hard to cut through but I think and this is the tip at the bottom I think if you're just starting out making content the whole goal as I talked about in the first training you just got to not quit long enough until it starts working so what my My Philosophy and my playbook is just pick the easiest path possible to get to like a 100 videos to where I guarantee if you follow this and you do this for 100 days in a row it will start working your dopamine will start flipping you you'll start to
see the pattern you'll start to get better you'll keep going so that's why you would pick this path now the next question right is you're like okay I'm convinced stop yelling at me I'm convinced how do I find the right reaction style topics to actually make so to do this your goal is to curate the best source of those things so like think about if tech news is what I want I need to create the best workflow and the best source of tech news coming in now I find email newsletters extremely good for this why
email newsletters are basically curating news so what you want is to reduce the amount of time it takes from you to go to I don't have an idea to I do have an idea and the way to reduce that time is to go to the most filtered or curated sources that have already done all the digging through hundreds of blogs and they're just giving you these are the five best stories that they think are important if you subscribe to a couple newsletters in your category that should cover you completely so and I on the next
slide I'm going to list some that I like to to follow And subscribe to for my Niche we can go over that if you're in the community just message me with what your Niche is and I I know a lot of these people who write these newsletters I'll tell you which ones to subscribe to but like I said the reason why email is so good is because they've already curated across dozens of sources for you and almost all verticals have them so here's a list quick snapshot I'll leave this on the screen for a second
this is I make Tech and cult brand stuff so the very first source of like I wake up in the morning I'm trying to make a video I go to my email and I read the email newsletters for the day or the last two days that I may have missed for Tech and business news generally I'm going to morning brew and they've got a general newsletter they also have like uh specific Tech marketing HR you can subscribe to all those if you want the hustle is really good the hustle is really good for this the
the section in the middle of the hustle that has like the one bullet stories they have like 10 one bullet stories every single episode those are bangers I find a lot of my video ideas in that or 1440 which is kind of like morning Brew the hustle cloned they cover a bunch of different topics it's more of like a general purpose so a lot of that is like not relevant to me but there's usually a text section that is relevant for Creator specific news which I make a lot of videos about creators the publish press
which is Colin and samir's newsletter that's a great one for like Snippets I don't I don't pull a lot of video ideas from that though because those are more like a little bit of opinion pieces some news some opinion and then for AI these are the three The Rundown the neuron and Benz bites those are the three that I read I held up four fingers I in three those are the three that I read every single day to get kind of like the AI digest so there's a good chance that your niche has a few
email newsletters whether you're in finance gardening a lot of these cpg marketing a lot of these niches have them I would go seek those out and subscribe and they're usually free so let's say the newsletters aren't enough right let's say and this happens to me a lot I wake up I don't have a video I go read the newsletters I'm like ah there wasn't anything that's really grabbing me today that's fine that's my first line of defense then after that here's where I look the first thing is the general news sites or blogs that the
newsletters are actually getting their information from maybe they miss something right so for Tech it'd be like The Verge Tech crunch Wall Street Journal the information like these are the source material for the email newsletters now some of these are getting annoying with like pay walls and Gates and so you'll go to the homepage it's littered with ads then anything interesting is going to be behind a pay wall that's why I like to go to the newsletters because they're going to filter out all the bad stuff pay for the pay to get behind the pay
wall and then Source it but if they're not coming up with something sometimes I go to these the other place I like because other creators in my Niche so if I'm making Tech or AI content like AI Riley Brown he's always the first one usually to have interesting stuff I'll look for him I'll see a video he makes if it Peaks my interest and I have a unique take I'm not just copying him I'll use it for inspiration if if the only thing I can think of is like to copy him I won't make it
because he's a homie and I don't want to do that but finding other creators in your Niche or like in tangential niches is a great place to look for this type of content okay so between newsletters the actual blogs the newsletter source and the creators you should be able to get three to five interesting video topics per day so like if if your goal is I need to make one video a day which this is what I would recommend one video a day for 100 days if that's your goal you wake up in the morning
and after an hour of reading and scanning you should have three to fiveish interesting stories that could be videos so what do you do now right so you have to think about how you're actually going to talk about the thing in your video there's really two lenses that you can take there's there's probably more but there's two main lenses the first one I don't know why I keep holding up the wrong amount of numbers this is three this is two this is one two main lenses the first one is speed right it sucks but this
is true if you're one of the first ones to put out a quality video even if it's only like 70 80% quality you're going to get a ton of views because the way social media works is people are using it for search Google search is the number one search engine YouTube is number two and Tik Tok is quickly approaching so if something interesting happens in the cultural Zeitgeist hundreds of thousands millions of people are going to be searching for that thing if you're only one of only five videos out there talking about it you're going
to show up at the top and they're going to surface you to those people if you're one of 50 unless it's amazing or you're really big it's going to be hard to cut through so speed is a good factor to go with the problem with speed is it does make your life kind of difficult because and I was trying to do that I was trying to be the first one out on AI news for a while you got to constantly you got to notifications you have to constantly watch it if a video comes out it's
going to disrupt your day you got to sit down make the video right away so I don't love speed but I will say it does work if you made a 100 videos and your only goal was this is my Niche I'm going to be the first one to react to any news in it and you actually accomplish that you would grow significantly significantly fast so speed is one the other which is what you want to get to is what I call Unique POV unique point of view and so this means you're not always the first
you might be the first but you're not always the first but you are providing a unique spin on what you're talking about so for me I cover creator entrepreneur relevant Tech news but I always give like a business strategy lens so like culture and Tech but with a business focus what are the numbers what is the business being built how do they grow it what are the marketing strategies like that's how I think and I always use these like interesting kind of framing of the numbers and like in my edits I use numbers to to
Showcase that storyline or framework that's my unique slant so if a if a if a topic comes out 3 days ago I may still make the video even though I'm going to be 80th to get it out because I have a unique point of view now I will say I've tested this and even my stuff which I have a huge following and a unique lens even then sometimes my video doesn't break through because people have seen it so many times so speed does get rewarded a lot with short form content now this is important if
you don't have a unique point of view like you're still kind of crafting your worldview you're still kind of crafting your voice around your topic just go for Speed and you don't have to do it every single day but maybe try to go three or four videos a week where you're one of the first ones to react and slowly over time trickle in one unique idea here or there one unique point of view here or there that's what I kind of do now still I'm still kind of reacting with speed to the big events and
I try to infuse UniQue Ideas so that's how I would like do the mix but yeah this last point no matter who you are for the big stories you will rack a ton of views if you're one of the first ones out so just remember that when you you when you are deciding kind of like how to position your content all right let's go to the next so here's what I was kind of getting at before right how do you decide of your three to five stories you're only going to make one video each day
probably how do you decide which is the one like what's the best one to make so these are some things that I would consider one are you genuinely interested in this topic and have something compelling to say this goes back to like my unique point of view question if you're not really interested in it people can tell they really can tell in your voice and your mannerisms and your emotions so don't even bother making the video if it doesn't naturally pull you that's number one number two is the story category a large market so if
you cover Sports is the story about something breaking in the NFL or is the story about something breaking in the HCK in in the NHL in hockey hockey's much smaller than NFL you can go viral with both but like you're going to have more natural Tailwinds with the bigger thing so I would try to look is this going to be a macro story that's going to really impact the full category then I would give it more weight in terms of deciding if I should make it the third point is there a relevant character or subject
that people would know or that you could reference so there's this this concept that I call cult hopping which works really well and basically in your video you reference a cult person a brand or a topic that drives a lot of Engagement regardless of the story positioning so for example I made a video about how Taylor Swift impacted the NFL like Taylor Swift's Super Bowl right that was the topic Taylor Swift was flying back for the Super Bowl to watch Travis Kelce I knew Taylor Swift was the the topic right I I wanted to cult
hop on top of Taylor Swift I didn't want to make the whole video about Taylor Swift and her singing and like the swifties but I wanted to use her visually in the video and audibly when I talked about the topic and wrote the title so that I could C hop off of her fandom though the video though was more about the business impact that she had on the NFL me breaking down the numbers and like they make this much in ads per game and it went up because she was at the game Etc right it
was more of like a business breakdown but I use Taylor Swift as the cult hopping anchor so when you're making a video you got to think did something happen right so here's an examp another example let's say you're in the plant Niche a lot of these videos for some reason I was just thinking about artificial plants let's say you're in the plant Niche and you saw like Ryan Reynolds did something with plants like he planted a thousand trees in Africa or like he started a plant company that would be a good video to make because
you can C Hop Off Reynolds to talk about something relevant to your plant Niche which is typically a pretty narrow Niche and like there's not a lot of Buzzy news that's when oh you're like oh there's someone interesting that I can reference that people will will understand because really in the first 3 to five seconds of the video you need to provide an anchor for someone to latch onto and so cult hopping allows you to bridge that Gap much easier so these are you know these are some factors when you've got the list of three
to five and you're like okay I'm interested in all three of these five or all all three or all five of these which do I make these are some like guard rails and guidelines to think through all right so quick summary at this stage as I mentioned before all you want is to gain initial traction around a category and build that habit of consistently making content you just want to get to a 100 videos as fast as possible that are like good reps so news content reactions are always going to be more fragile in terms
of the depth of your audience but it's going to be easier to make faster to make and you're going to grow faster with it initially if if you stay more consistent in that format and the third point is when you're picking stories you want to look for ones with a naturally large reach that can provide leverage around a cult followed personality so you can cult hop those are the three kind of takeaways here now I mentioned at the very beginning if you still remember there were two buckets of types of content one was news reaction
which we just talked about the other is the more defensible the more unique the sauce the and that's generating new ideas or Frameworks or series for your Niche so I'm going to quickly talk about this I think the way you build a cult and the way you really build Authority in a category is sharing unique and original ideas about whatever you're talking about so for example like I just made a video today about this thing called drop kits so I came up with this idea like hey I think every time a brand or a tech
company or or anyone comes out with a product announcement they should also drop a companion folder full of vertical video assets that someone like me could then take and make content with it's insane that like the creators are chomping at the bit to make free content for these people but then they don't have the brand assets to use so I was like okay let's evolve the press kit into a drop kit that that's kind of like a new idea right no one's ever said that I kind of just came up with that and made a
piece of content around it inherently that type of content is really hard to get to go viral because there's no anchor to my point before there's no anchor or cult person for them to grab on to now I did some editing tricks like I tried to use references of the office to make it more relatable to people and use the office as a cult hop but the the idea was very unique so it's probably not going to go viral but the people that do watch that are going to think way more of me for having
this unique idea that they didn't see anywhere else and so this is my point right if you want to make content for a long time if you want to own a niche you're eventually going to have to start infusing these original ideas original Frameworks original takes this type of thinking is much harder to do every single day because it requires like fresh ideas and so to help you bridge the gap with those fresh ideas let's talk about a couple things the best place to look to find these unique ideas are existing creators so you're going
to want to find other creators in your Niche or in other niches that are like let's say two to 10 times bigger than you so let's say you're starting out you have a couple thousand followers you could look at me as someone I'm maybe like a little bit more than 10 times bigger but you could look at me as an anchor right so go to my channel on Tik Tok Instagram YouTube you can do this on any of them go to my videos go to filter filter for my best performing videos ignore the ones that
were me reacting to something and only look at the ones where I'm coming up with an original idea or original format right take those and use that as inspiration for yourself so for example let's say you went to YouTube there was this person you really liked following guy girl doesn't matter and their format that was like unique and really cool was that they were really good at trading household items at garage sales to increase some value up to 10K so like let's say I think Ryan trean does this he took a he took a penny
he traded a penny for something that was worth that someone was willing to give him for a penny he sold that for a dollar he took the dollar bought something that he could have bought for five borrow her down to one sold that for 10 right and he went all the way up to 10K that's like a very unique format Innovative by him right so could you take something like that and then adjust it a little bit so let's again back to the fake plant category let's say you take this concept but you're like trading
fake plants or like you're you just take the I go to garage sales and like try to flip fake plants right you don't take the dollar to $10,000 you just take the garage sale bit you're just looking at people who have already done the heavy lifting on the creativity and trying to extract something kind of unique Virgil ablo had a rule for creativity the 3% rule which was all you have to do is take something and change it 3% and then it's original you don't have to go and reinvent the wheel every single time it's
very hard to do that you can take something that works extract one piece out adapt it for what you like to do and then you've got something new so that's where I would look as other creators on these original ideas also and this is the last bit and then we'll wrap up this section your brain will evolve over time when it comes to content ideas so the best advice I can give with like how to come up with these mind-blowing original formats original ideas your brain you would you would train your brain to like look
at things and be like oh yeah that'd be a good idea or like oh that's cool maybe I could you'll just you'll get that muscle over time so that's why I like to say as you're walking around as you're doing stuff just write interesting ideas you have down but like start with the news content get into the habit of making content and like understanding what stories go viral and how would you package those stories and like why is it interesting and these ideas will start leaking out it's like the universe giving you breadcrumbs in a
in a weird way and then anytime you have one write it down and go through the exercise of like trying to make turn that into a video and you know at first it's going to be like one out of every 50 is a unique idea then one out of every 30 then one out of every 20 I say I'm probably at like one out of every 10 is kind of unique but in my reactions I Infuse my unique point of view every single time so I kind of get that unique perspective so we're going to
leave it there that's kind of all I had for this training so so far we've done what topic do I make content about how do I find content ideas and formats and series within that topic and now we're going to go to which channel should I make so I've got a couple videos on that I might record another slide I have a few from podcast episodes um that I did that are good at addressing that question but maybe I'll make another and then we're going to keep going from there so like how do I tell
better stories how do I edit Etc so like make sure you are following along now the last thing I will say is these courses are free right so many people will put this behind a $200 pay wall I don't want to do that but I'm also going to launch a private membership that is paid for people that need more help like there are serious creators that want to level up and they they actually like want me to go through this exercise with them so to say like hey here is my Niche here is the topic
I want to make help me come up with story ideas and like Frameworks and series Etc that's not live yet so if you're watching this right in the beginning I'm not going to have that live just like message me if you're interested and I'll put you on a list if it is live you can check that out um to kind of like continue this but everything you need to get the answer is right in this so let me know if you struggle or you have any other questions and I'm going to be making more courses
like under or more modules under this course for this type of stuff if you drop it in pain points if you drop your questions in pain points so that's it for this one we'll see you guys on the next one peace
