hello learners welcome to clash education in this video we study about the organization of lambda card genome a lambda fart is a type of bacteriophage that infects equalized cell from its genome perspective it carries a double-stranded linear dna genome when the lambda fuzz wants to replicate it has two options for replication pathway either it can follow lytic cycle through which small biryon particles will be generated by the lysis of the bacterial host cell the other replication pathway is lysogeny wherein the lambda far genome gets integrated into the bacterial genome and as the bacterial genome replicates
the fat genome replicates alongside the choice to choose between lysogeny and lytic cycle by the lambda fudge is catalyzed by a complex genetic switch a complex genetics which is activated when the fudge wants to choose lysogeny or lytic cycle this indicates that the genes coding for the proteins required for lysogeny will be on when the fudge opts for lysogeny whereas those for the lytic cycle will be switched off similarly the genes coding for proteins which are required for the establishment of the lytic cycle will be on when the fuzz ops for lytic cycle whereas the
genes coding for lysogeny will be turned off the gene that is required for the establishment of the lysogeny cycle is cig the gene that is required for the establishment of lytic cycle is the chro gene [Music] this is a representation of the lambda fudge genome for the ease of understanding we have split it into three sections late event genes two regions which are flanking and early event gene p l and o l are the promoter and operator sequences for leftward transcription p r and o r are the promoter and operator sequences for rightward transcription the
ci gene which is required for the establishment of lysogeny codes for the lambda repressor protein the crow gene which is required for the establishment of lytic cycle codes for the crow protein everything to the left of the pl codes for genes that are required for the establishment and maintenance of lysogeny similarly all the genes to the right of pr and or are required for the establishment and maintenance of the lytic cycle amongst the early event gene the n gene quotes for n protein the n protein allows rna polymerase to bypass the termination sequences present at
chro gene and n gene thereby continuing transcription of the genes among the late event genes which code for lysogeny int gene codes for the integrase protein integrase is required for the integration of the fudge dna into the bacterial dna another late event gene in lysogeny is the 3c3 gene the c3 gene codes for a c3 protein which is a transcriptional activator of lysogeny among the late events gene in the lytic cycle the c2 gene codes for a c2 protein surprisingly this c2 protein is also a transcription activator of lysogeny while it is still placed amongst
the genes that are required for lytic cycle maintenance in the late events gene of the lytic cycle o and p gene codes for dna replication proteins that are required to produce many copies of the viral genome which will be packaged into the small variant particles [Music] another late event gene of the lytic cycle is the q gene coding for a q protein which is an anti-termination of replication two other promoters pre promoter for repressor establishment and prm which is the promoter for repressor maintenance are both required for maintaining an establishment of lysogeny this is where
