what's up everybody know each year we're coming to you from New Orleans Louisiana and I'm joined by deadly not and we're going to roads for the times-picayune building and check this out [Music] [Music] this building is where the times-picayune newspaper was printed since they moved here in 1968 and became the main newsroom and printing plant for the New Orleans paper in 2012 over 200 employees were laid off due to the shift to digital format over newspaper they moved the operation to a different smaller location and only a few employees remained here until 2016 when the
site was sold for three and a half million dollars it'll become a drive Shack golf facility after the building is demolished which is what's happening right now the main lobby so all on these walls here see how it looks like something was removed it used to be the big concrete murals these big like pieces of artwork actually though this is pieces of it right here I believe [Applause] whatever used to be what was on these walls and it was discovered in this beautiful artwork and they removed it they removed it to keep it and save
it I don't know where it went somebody probably bought it who knows look at all the marble slab everywhere just big old chunks of it heck with this this is probably where the the front desk was so when you entered you'd come through here maybe talk to a security person or whatever grant you access to the main building [Music] [Music] sleep in here the second bag some shoes everybody's old 45 The O'Jays who's this room are the friends another boarding room 40 really nice area in here yes dumbwaiter here's the scary stairwell going up to
the power you want to try it [Music] it's dangerous how's she feel I mean it feels pretty sturdy I don't know I don't think we do it's all I need is to fall down this thing this is the roof right here and the door keeps shutting on me let's walk out here and see what we got that's a really cool sight right there downtown New Orleans the Superdome right there check that out man there's a closer look at the Clocktower another one of the offices that's been completely trashed I believe this was the news directors
office the big boss man somebody was eating some chicken in here that's pretty gross it smells so bad in here you have no idea yet another empty room I believe all the furniture in the building was sold off not too long ago so not much is left you can see the interstate right out this broken window and a nice shot again of downtown New Orleans somebody has written I'm in the trophy room in here I think it's official that this room that I'm in was in fact the newsroom this room is where the reporters would
sit and type up their articles with the paper I've always loved graffiti art it is very interesting especially when it's really good like that somebody in here was a Washington Redskins fan apparently not a Saints fan Oh maybe also a Saints fan check out that what does that say beedo this is cool this is an old VW bus that another big area I'm not sure what this room was I'm surprised most of the windows are still intact lots of cool graffiti though this one's really cool the M&M guys with some r-rated humor on them mr.
balloon hands seems to be all over the place the old emergency fire hose that somebody's ripped out there's an old scale it's another really cool tag by mr. balloon hands now we're talking I believe we have hit the big area the area that I was hoping to find this could be the printing room that is huge look at that this was the printing room there used to be big massive machines down there on the floor that would print out the newspapers the machines were sold off I believe and now it's just a huge empty room
I know if Jason was here he would loveless he would love this this is something that's this is this is pretty sweet man let the send him to the pictures this machine was used for right here mr. spider how you doing it's a long way down so if the ground happens to give way [Music] very nice [Music] mr. balloon hands was here as well [Applause] these old tanks right here it's a boiler hello I keep coming across looks like old beds people that are sleeping around here which isn't a very comforting feeling but there's thousands
of what's up the IT organization technology I'm surprised that the doors still intact what actually it looks like it's been it's locked somebody's been trying to kick it in interesting with this why this is here like that do they keep that locked and use this too I understand the need to oh okay I think I think this is the cafeteria this looks like a maybe a hand washing area probably where they ate lunch every day well blueprints these are for pall mall cigarettes Oh stench over here is not nice it's some VHS tapes over there
