Hello, everyone. This is Professor Jeong from Focus Korean. Today’s beginner podcast topic is "Doing Laundry.
" I’ll speak slowly. So listen carefully. I do laundry once a week.
I’m too busy on weekdays, so I don’t have time for laundry. That’s why I usually do it on the weekends. By the time the weekend comes, my laundry basket is full.
And if I don’t do laundry, I run out of clothes to wear. Before I start, I separate the clothes. I wash towels with towels and clothes with clothes.
Socks and outdoor clothes tend to be dirtier. So I don’t wash them with towels. I wash them separately.
I usually use a washing machine to do my laundry. Before starting it, I check all the pockets. Sometimes, there are tissues, money, or receipts inside.
Then, I put the laundry in the washing machine. I also add detergent and fabric softener. Finally, I press the start button.
Laundry usually takes about an hour and a half. When it’s done, the washing machine beeps. And I take the laundry out.
After taking the laundry out, I put it in the dryer. Using a dryer helps dry clothes quickly. But some clothes, like knit sweaters, shrink in the dryer.
So I don’t put those in the dryer. Instead, I hang them to dry on the balcony. I have a small drying rack there, so I use that.
Sometimes, I hand-wash clothes. I mostly hand-wash delicate clothes that I want to take good care of. This way, they last longer.
If I use a washing machine, clothes wear out faster. So even though it’s a bit of a hassle, I hand-wash certain clothes and hang them outside to dry. Once the laundry is dry, I bring it in.
Then, I fold the laundry and put it away in the closet. But shirts and pants tend to get wrinkled. So before putting them away, I iron them first.
Then, I hang them on a hanger. Sometimes, I take my clothes to the dry cleaner. It’s hard to wash padded jackets or coats at home.
So for those kinds of clothes, I take them to the dry cleaner. It usually takes about three days to get them cleaned. And they even deliver it to your home.
It’s a bit expensive, but very convenient. This is how I do my laundry. Do you do your own laundry?
How do you usually do it? Let me know in the comments! Now everyone, listen to the story once again.
I'll read it a bit fater.
