back in uh 2005 pretty close to when I first started at Facebook maybe like this is week two or week three um trying to figure out what to do nobody was really giving me much Direction and I remember Mark walking up to me and he's like hey dude I think you should um write a search engine for Facebook yeah just you yeah it's like you and what team right I was like and he's like it's really important because when people come onto Facebook the first thing they want to do is search for people and then
my first reaction was like Mark I I don't know how to write a search engine I never done this why don't we go hire somebody from Google or Yahoo to do this and he looked at me he's like dude if I can build Facebook you can build a damn search engine um and you did and I did I mean it's like I I there's like and and when I say it was the like 30 seconds that I still think about which is all of us can build whatever we put our minds to um and this
is kind of the culture that for me still defines Facebook right which is that there's this hacker can do total ownership culture that if I could actually tell every startup in the world to like take one thing which is that all of you can do whatever you want as long as you put your mind to it it's probably easier than you think
