How to Create a Second Brain with Obsidian and Fabric

it it tells you what the video is about and why you should probably watch it if you're watching this you're probably an incredibly busy business professional but you also like to to learn a lot you know either you're going to be helping yourself out with your career you're going to be uh discovering new intellectual Pursuits in order to do that you have to watch videos you have to consume content right but uh it can be difficult and timec consuming especially if you take a lot of these handr notes that are just scattered all over the

place not really that organized and while the intention of writing is good to begin with when it comes to actually going back and learning from these notes it can kind of be difficult so what I discovered is basically a fusion of of two solutions one is creating a second brain on obsidian and number two is feeding that second brain with notes from fabric so if this doesn't make sense at all to you let's just dive in get to it I'm going to show you how to make a second brand so let's begin so I'm going

to pull up uh a video just to illustrate a common scenario so like we were mentioning earlier you're probably a business professional you like to learn things but you just don't really know which content you should dedicate you know your full attention to and like watch this thing all the way through or just this it's okay content and uh you just want to extract the wisdom from it they extract the overall Knowledge from it so in fabric actually there is a way to just take this YouTube transcript compare it to who I am as a

person and what my goals are right and then judging from that it'll see It'll see if it's worth for me to consume it or if it's not as much worth my time and I can just extract the main notes so that being said let's let's start okay let's start let's show you what I mean so this Command right here I am just going to copy and paste and I will explain what it actually is doing okay YT YouTube Right D- transcript it's taking the transcript okay this is the YouTube uh URL I showed you here

the Alex rosi video let's see this one right here okay then it pipes into fabric SP is s is streaming p is pattern you can just think of pattern as a prompt it's really what it is and then label and rate is the name of the prompt the pattern okay so what it just did so you can see is it analyzed the YouTube video okay and it rated it s tier s tier is top goes sa a b CDE EF right so s is top s basically means as you can see it's content Rich actionable

strategies it it tells you what the video is about and why you should probably watch it this is amazing guys this is basically prejudging the video look gives it a quality score 95 says why it's 95 okay so on and so forth beautiful right so let's say for an example that it had like a b tier or something like that what would we do so this is where the magic happens so if it just had like a normal B tier we would just want to extract the the information from it and then send it over

create a note and then which we can uh kind of quickly review later on okay so like I said earlier I I just copy this command over and uh paste that over try that again there we go and just click enter and I will explain what it's doing as it's doing it and I'll also bring uh obsidian over here so you can kind of see what's going on so as you can see right here it's uh it's making the the knowledge from it it's extracting the knowledge from it right which is awesome so we'll just

put it up here then we'll go here we'll go to our our main notes right here and we can see I think that was a trial run I did we can see that it SA aves it automatically in here right beautiful markdown format so it's already good so what I'll do I'll just erase this and then I have pre-made templates in here so just press contrl T and I'll make it a full note and then here we go we got our title don't really need that we already have it up there but this is where

the magic happens right so this is uh boom we have tags what is tags so we can do how to we can do uh selling we can do well let's just look at our tags that we already have so we'll go into here these are the tags already made so we might do productivity okay we might do uh business learnings right and let's see what else we might do sales cuz it is about sales beautiful now I already copied and pasted the uh YouTube URL from that here so we can also in our note under

references we can reference that video right and then for status I'll just name it uh a child status because basically i' I've divided in child um baby as well as adult statuses and child just means like I'm kind of familiar with it but I I don't really know about it too much yet and then adult is like a note that's been solidified okay so look at this guys it's beautiful you got your ideas main insights you got quotes habits facts references one sentence take takeaway and recommendations so as you can see the magic and power

behind this right you can literally take hour and a half 2 hour long YouTube videos condense them down extract all the wisdom into one note right and you can collect these notes in obsidian you can tag them out until you get something that looks like this so what the hell is this this is a map a mind map of everything we're learning and how it's connected right so this is pretty cool right look at this so over time we can find things these clusters will start to form now keep in mind guys I've only been

doing this a few days but if you look on like YouTube obsidian mind maps you'll see some of these are just immense they look like a brain the neurons in the brain and that's kind of the idea just pursue our interests and then eventually we'll start to see patterns and Trends what we like it's pretty awesome guys so that's why here at path tank we are adopting this solution of note taking and of learning and of moving forward in order to organize all of our thoughts and ideas and then in order to synthesize those thoughts
