October is breast cancer awareness month and the center for student involvement made it sure to celebrate the important month according to the American Cancer Society breast cancer is the most common cancer in women within the United States as it accounts for 30% of all new female cancers the event involv students making Comfort kits for breast cancer patients leet Gan reports on October 2nd the center for student involvement commemorated Breast Cancer Awareness Month the fun event took place in the gutton living room students had the opportunity to pack Comfort kits for patients undergoing breast cancer treatment
the kits contained a bracelet a breast cancer pin pink pens and a handwritten note to motivate patients to continue fighting the battle when battling cancer it gets hard it gets difficult because your body's changing so it's a lot so we're doing this to fight the good fight let them know that they have people out here that's you know fighting for them too after students were finished packing their comfort kit they gave it to a CSI employee and put it in a cart to be sent to the Lin Cancer Institute something that I um that I
really liked was being able to make bags for people who are currently um facing breast cancer everyone like is going through something whether you think about it or not and it's just important that everyone contributes to it in some way for some Lin students such as IET De la Rosa the event was more personal I have people in my family that I have cancer and I know a lot of strong wom in my life that have gone through like uh cancer I lost my grandmother through cancer um so it's something that I'm I'm very interested
I also want to be a pre and a Premed student so I'm very interesting of how uh the Body Works and how we can help people with cancer as well in the US 42,2 women are estimated to die from bre cancer in 2024 however through this event students were able to make a difference and motivate patients to continue fighting the disease I'm Leen for ey pulse
