If there's one thing the Bridgetton siblings love, it's premarital sex. You're a dick and we hate you anyway. Ew. Ew. Why are we getting guns involved? Yikes. Guys, I recently went to Peru. Most incredible trip of my life. Beautiful country. Absolutely would recommend going if you get the chance. But whilst I was away, I made the decision to attempt to binge read all the Bridgetton Books. I got through six out of eight and I had to read Hyestin and Gregory when I got back. And I don't really know why I did this. I don't know.
I was just really hesitant to read them because I knew they wouldn't be as good as the show. But something in me, I just thought, I'm just going to do it. I'm just going to binge read Bridgetton. mainly because I was jealous of everyone getting excited over season 4, but for like details that I personally was Unaware of and I'd seen all the spoilers already on social media from like I already knew whoever Bridgeten was going to end up with and spoilers don't bother me. So I was just like I'm just going to do it.
I'm just going to read them and it's just going to be this isolated two weeks. I'm just going to read them. So, I did and we're going to talk about it because I'm not reading eight Bridgetton books and not making content. Also, after reading all the books, I have just Rewatched the show as well. And yeah, I'm just really really into Bridgetton right now. So, I'm going to go through the books one by one in this video. So, if there are any specific Bridgetton siblings you don't want the spoilers for, then you can just skip
ahead for there. I'm going to time stamp them all. Um, but that being said, there will be full spoilers for all eight Bridgetton books in this video cuz that's kind of the point. I read them so that you don't Have to read them, but you can still get all the context that will hopefully enrich the show going forward to you cuz it's definitely going to enrich the show going forward for me after reading. I made tea for the aesthetic of the video along with my hair. Do you like my Regency era hair attempt? But I'm
not actually much of a tea drinker, which is maybe sacrilege to say as an English person. I'm just going to I'm just just going to make a little change. [laughter] That's better. So, the first thing I guess I want to say is you absolutely do not need to read the books to appreciate or be a fan of the show. I was a big Bridgetton fan before reading the books. That is the only reason I read the books. That being said, reading the books makes the show so much better because you realize just how wellbuilt out
the world is, like how much richness they've added, how well they've adapted The books, the show is so much better after reading the books. So, if you do want a richer experience in watching the show, reading the books might do that for you. That's what it did for me. So, the first book and the first season is Daphne and Simon. The most noticeable thing when I read this book, I actually feel like I was paying more attention to just the world as a whole really as opposed to just like Daphne's story because my entire context
of Bridgetton Was from the show where it's this really huge ensemble cast. And although the love stories are the main focus, I expected there to be a lot more of the show in the books. For instance, there is no queen. Queen Charlotte just isn't a character in all eight of the books. I found that really shocking cuz obviously Queen Charlotte is like one of the main characters of Bridgeten. She got her own spin-off season. So, the fact that Queen Charlotte is just not in the books I Found crazy. Family dynamics are different elsewhere. Like there's
a fourth fee fe Featherington sister that's the same age as Higher Synth. The whole storyline with the Featherington's dad like spending all their money and then dying doesn't exist. Like the Mondriches, they don't exist, which I find them to be a really interesting addition to the show. I don't know why they are additions when they don't really exist at all. And as well as That, all the siblings are mentioned throughout the whole book series, and there are a couple of siblings that show up a lot in the books. Hi is in the books a lot.
Colin is probably one of the most prevalent. Like he's just there all the time. He's like in everyone's story. He's he's sort of like everyone's favorite sibling Colin in the books. And Anthony and Kate are in the books a lot because they are the Lord and Lady Bridgetton. But like you don't really Like you never see Eloise after her book. Franchesca you pretty much only see in her book. Gregory is off for Eaton at school most of the series. So you don't really see much of Gregory until sort of higher than his book. Benedict is
mentioned in passing but after his book which is the third book you don't really see much of Benedict or Sophie. So I found that really interesting and I think that's why the show is better. All the siblings get More of a backstory. They're so much more developed. Like three seasons in, with the exception of maybe higher than Gregory, I feel like you really intimately know all the characters. Like going into Benedict season, we know Benedict on screen really, really well. Whereas when you got to Benedict's book, you knew like nothing about Benedict. All of that
to say, we're going to talk about the books. This is the show throughout. But the show is just so Good. Like Shondaanda Rimes, babe, cheers. It must take such a brain [laughter] to read the Bridgetton books and then see the vision for the adaptation. Right. So, book one, Daphne. Daffers. Season one of Bridgetton is my least favorite season. Season two of Bridgetton is when I was really like, "Oh, I'm into this because of Kate and Anthony." This first season, like, I really enjoyed it cuz I love like Regency era [ __ ] But what what
I was more into in the first season was like the world building and all the side stories like the whole like Featherington plot lines, working out who Lady Whistled Down was. And while I like Daphne and Simon, they're just okay to me in the show. Daphne is probably my least favorite Bridgetton sibling, but in the book as well, Daphne is probably my least favorite Bridgetton. I just think she brings the least to the table. She's just she's the Most like prim and proper and normal. So, my impression of the book was sort of what I
expected going in. I expected to like it, but it to be ranked sort of at least halfway, if not to the bottom for my list in books, and it is. This is where my rank Yeah, I'm going to put rankings on the screen as we go of where my books are. So, I think Daphne is pretty much at the bottom. I find the whole um concept that the whole she doesn't know where babies come from like It is realistic of the time period but also it just like annoys me. It annoyed me in the show.
It annoyed me in the book and I hated in the show and in the book sort of Simon's manipulation around it. Their relationship storyline was very accurate to how it was portrayed in the show. The biggest differences really was the wider Bridgetton universe. The book is very much just Daffhne and Simon. Simon and Daphne are fine, but they're not my favorites. Like the story Didn't excite me. And I do think a lot of um my opinions on the books are massively biased from the show. So, I am going to talk about that as we go
along. But the fact they were my least favorite couple out of Paulen, I think that did influence me being a bit like I'm not sure I care. It was a good palette cleanser though to get into the world. It does kind of make me laugh as well going throughout the books because Simon doesn't really show Up again after his book. He's mentioned I think he's in the next one. I'm pretty sure he's there when they're playing croquet or palm mau or whatever they call it. He's not in the show obviously cuz um reggae left. Is
that how you I don't know if that's how you say his name. Sorry if it's not. But other than that, Simon's literally never in it. He literally would have been in one minute of television every two years. It would have been like one day's work every two Years, but he left for other projects. Okay, that being said, I really hope at the end of eight seasons that come out every 2 years, so 16 years later after he said he's not coming back. I really want at the end of the final season of Bridgeten to see
all eight couples together on screen at the same time with Violet with all the grandchildren and all eight couples. And I really hope he goes back for that. And if not, Shondaanda Rimes, if you're watching, Just recast him. Just recast him. But yeah, if you've seen season one of Bridgetton, you've read the first book. The first book is is just the Simon and Daphne story pretty much to a tea. You just have to delete the w the wider world building and it is pretty accurate to what you saw. But yeah, not my favorite, probably my
least favorite. So with Daphne and Simon, the story was like pretty much beat forbeat, spot on what you see in the show. Kate and Anthony was changed a lot, but it was changed in all the right ways. So, in the book, you still have the basic plot of Anthony decides he's going to marry, and he goes after Edwina, who is Kate's sister. He and Kate have this real sort of bickering enemies relationship, and obviously they end up falling for each other instead. However, in the books, Edwina doesn't really care when she finds out like Anony's
going to marry her sister and is in love with Kate. Like, she doesn't give a [ __ ] she just goes off and like looks elsewhere and she's really supportive of it. Also, in the books, like Edwina and Anthony do not get to any form of like engagement. There's no wedding that she runs out of. That's all added for the show. And in the book, it's like a forced arranged marriage, a bit like Daphne and Simon. Daffhany and Simon have to get married cuz Anthony catches them kissing. In the Vic Count Who Loved Me, Anthony
and Kate Have to get married because they're caught in a compromising position. In the show, when Kate gets stung by a bee and Anthony freaks out because that's how his dad died. In the show, obviously, he just almost has a panic attack and then they sort of like scar and run in opposite directions and they're just like heavy breathing and they're just like they know that it was a moment between them, but nobody else knows that happened. In the book, when Kate gets stung by a bee, Anthony freaks out that she's going to die and
he's like, "We need to suck the venom out." Is it venom? Do you get venom from a bee? She gets stung on her boob. And he sucks on her tit basically to try and get this bee sting out. And then they're caught by three people. They're caught by Violet, Porsche Featherington, and probably Lady Danbury. I can't remember right now. Those three women catch them in that position and obviously they then Have to marry, but they like marry under the sort of impression that they hate each other and then it becomes this sort of forced marriage
and then they don't fall in love with each other until they're already married. Whereas in the show, it's just so much better. They did such a good job changing the story in the show. This is what I mean. If you want to appreciate the show more, just read, you should read the books, cuz the show is so much better than the books That it will make you just obsessed with the show. The chemistry in the book between Anthony and Kate is good. I really liked it. It is that sort of bickering enemies to lovers vibe,
but in the show it's so much better. Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley are just so good. I don't know if any season of Bridgetton is going to top them. I think story-wise they could, but just their season of TV was just so good. Insane. It's definitely the best season of Bridgetton out of the three so far. And I I think it's going to stay. I think even when we get to the end of eight seasons, I think we're always going to think that season 2 was one of the best seasons. I've ranked it at number
three on my list. I'd say that's accurate. Yeah. Stunning. Benedict and Sophie. I'm so so excited for their season. Yeah. The 29th of January, we're getting the first half of their season. I think there's a really good possibility. It might be better than Kate and Anony's season. I'm putting it out there. And I loved An Offer from a Gentleman, the book. But I read it with quite a biased lens because when I read all of these books, I was very much picturing the actors and what we know of their personalities in the show. So obviously
we know a lot about Benedict. We know that he's fruity. We know that he's this artist. We know that he's Really silly and goofy. And he's not portrayed like that at all in the book. But whenever the book sort of said something where I was like that's not Benedict's personality, I just kind of ignored it. For the siblings that I knew really well, like especially Eloise and Benedict specifically, if they did something where I was like that's that doesn't match their character in the show, I did just ignore it. And I did that heavily in
An Offered from a Gentleman because I do think Book Benedict and Show Benedict are two wildly different people. Book Benedict is just much quieter and much more like serious than show Benedict is. So I loved the story in the book. So the book is effectively Cinderella, but I already know it's going to be so good on TV. Like if how they adapted the other three seasons from the book, if they do the same for Benedict, like it's going to be so good, guys. I don't think you Understand how good season 4 of Bridgetton's going to
be. they're going to have to really really do something wrong to make it bad. So, the plot of An Offer from a Gentleman is it starts at the masquerade ball and Sophie, our heroine, she's like the bastard daughter of an earl. I'm pretty sure he's an earl, but she's his bastard daughter. So, she's unclaimed, but he treats her well. He he houses her like he lets her get lessons with the governor. So she's Really educated even though she shouldn't be. But then he gets remarried to this woman who has two daughters. So she gets two
step sisters and a stepmother. And they're obviously awful to her. The stepmother is specifically awful to her. She doesn't want her hanging out with her daughters. She doesn't want her getting lessons with her daughters. And obviously with the sisters, it's very, it's so Cinderella, especially it's so Ever After Cinderella, the Drew Barrymore one. Like one of the step siblings is just the epitome of her mother, like hates Sophie. And then the other steps sister is the nice one who secretly likes Sophie and is her friend, but you know, is controlled by her mom and her
sister and can't really be her friend. And all the staff help her out. One night when there's a ball, there's a masquerade ball at Bridgton House. The staff all help her out and they put her in a dress And they organize a carriage and they give her a mask, but she has to borrow shoes from the stepmom because they don't have any shoes for her to wear. So, she borrows the shoes from the stepmother's closet and they say to her like, "You need to get back before them. You have to leave at midnight. At midnight,
the carriage is waiting for you to come home." So, Sophie goes to this ball, her and Benedict. It's like love at first sight. Even though they've Got masks on, they go off to this balcony together and dance on the balcony. Gets steamy. He takes the glove off her and they're just kissing and making out. And then suddenly it's midnight and she has to run. She doesn't tell him her name. He obviously thinks she's a woman of noble birth because she's at this ball. She runs off. He doesn't see her again. Then we have a really
long time jump. It's either a year, but it might be 2 years. I'm going To check and I'll put it on the screen. However, however long the time jump is, which is where I'm confused by the show. The show can surely not do a time jump, which is why I think initially when they swapped Colin and Benedict's seasons around, one of the theories was because, oh well, there has to be like a year time jump at least for Benedict. So, they'll put the masquerade ball in Colin and Penelope season. will meet Sophie, but then there'll
be a time jump whilst They're, you know, that 2-year gap where they don't have it on TV. But they haven't done that. So, unless they just do like 6 months later or something, I suppose they could do a time jump. I don't know. That that's the most interesting part to me of how they're going to adapt that. Next thing that happens in the book is Sophie pretty much immediately gets find found out because her shoes are scuffed. And the day after the ball, uh, Bridgetton comes Around. He's looking for Sophie. He's sort of worked out
that he thinks it's from she was connected to this family. So, she he goes around, he sees the stepdaughters, sees it's neither of them, and leaves. But the stepmother pretty much immediately works out that it was Sophie, and she kicks her out. Um, but there's this whole thing of when her dad died, it was written into his will that Sophie would get a really, really big dowy. But Sophie never learns This because the stepmother never tells her. All she knows is what is true as well in the will is that the stepmother had to put
up Sophie until she was 21 in order to get her full allowance per year. But Sophie is over this age now and she just kicks her out of the house. So Sophie has literally no money. She steals some like shoe buckles or something to sell and makes some money as she leaves, but she gets kicked out to the curb penniless. And then there's Obviously a time jump. In these years, Sophie gets really skinny. She loses loads of weight because she can't really afford to eat. She gets different jobs like being a maid or a servant.
She cuts her hair off like lay because she has to sell her hair for money. and she ends up being a like maid or a servant for these really horrible men. And there's this party where they all basically attempt to gang grape her and who should interfere and save her none other than Benedict himself. But Benedict doesn't recognize her because the main thing is he would never expect this woman of his dreams to be a servant because he met her at a ball where only people of nobility would be. She's also not in her mask.
It's out of context. She's also lost loads of weight, so she's much skinnier and she's got shorter hair. Again, in the show, they're not going to be able to make the actress lose loads of weight. And I don't think it's loads Of weight. It's not like she went from being like plus-sized to really really skinny, but you know, she went from a household where she could eat comfortably to like being penniless and a servant. She's like skin and bones. And that's part of the reason why Benedict doesn't realize it's her. So I do worry that
the show it might be a bit like a Cinderella story where you're just like why wouldn't he know that's Hillary Duff? She looks exactly the Same. So that'll be interesting. After he saves her from these horrible grapers, he takes her to his cottage. He's like, "I'm going to take you to London. My mom will give you a position in her household as a maid." But he gets a he gets really sick. They get caught out in the rain. They go to his cottage. The other staff isn't there. So, it's just them two alone. She has
to nurse him back to health. And it's proper like they're just alone in this cabin in a Rainstorm when he's sick. And she takes care of him and they're reunited. Eventually, they go back to London. She gets a job in Violet's household, but she wants to leave London because she doesn't want her stepmother to find out that she's there because she knows that she'll like report it to the police for stealing the buckles and she'll go to jail. There's all these maid wars going on which is mentioned in season 3 in sort of passing in
Lady Whistled Down. Thank you for the foreshadowing for that. Shonda Shonda Shonda. So, this sort of tension building between Sophie and Benedict. They event they sort of do get together, but Benedict still doesn't realize who she is. Eventually, he works it out. Sophie tries to run away. She gets caught by the stepmother out in the Lond the streets of London. She gets thrown in jail just like she thought she would. But then Violet and Benedict run in and they save her and like Violet Just does her thing and she basically blackmails the stepmother um with
her Bridget and power and it's such tea. It's such red wine. Like it's going to be so good on TV. It's a really dramatic ending. I cannot wait to see it. For that reason, I have put an offer from a gentleman at the top of my list. I'm really torn between first and second place about which way round they should go. And the reason I put Benedict at the top is because I think it'll make For better TV. I just can't wait. I'm so [laughter] excited for it. And I wouldn't be this excited if I
hadn't read it. So, now you know the story. You should get excited cuz I promise you, it's going to be so good. It's going to be so good. It's just gonna be so good. So the fourth book is Collins. I'm still not sure why they swapped the seasons around. So for a bit of context in the books, there's a lot of time gaps between the different siblings. Like Daphne is first and I think Anthony is the following year or maybe a couple of years later and then and then Benedict is a few years later. But
then there is a really quite big time gap between Benedict and Colin. Like Benedict gets married way before Colin. So I find it really interesting that they swap the timelines. I don't think it's going to massively affect the story. But in the books, Colin, Eloise, and Francesca's stories happen basically simultaneously. So I don't know why they swapped them. I don't know why they made Benedict 4 and Colin three on the show. But that being said, I don't think it will massively affect the dynamics, the story as a whole. I just don't really understand what their
logic was. And like I say, it would make sense if the logic was that they had to put the masquerade ball in so they could do the time skip for Benedict, but they didn't do that. So Colin and Penelope, I think people Didn't really like season 3 that much. I remember I don't know what people's opinions of it are now, but I remember when it was coming out, people were really disappointed with it. I wasn't. I liked it. So the thing about the books is it kind of makes sense of that, you know, set in
the early 1800s and the characters really reflect views and characteristics of that time in the sense that basically all the men are really misogynistic And [snorts] quite problematic. But in the books, I think Colin is like the least problematic Bridgetton man and the least problematic male hero. What I do think they've transferred well into the show that's like a running theme throughout the books is every Bridgetton sibling sort of has their their connector. Colin doesn't necessarily have a best friend sibling, but he is sort of everyone's best friend sibling. Like Colin is quite prevalent in
every Book and he's really the only sibling I think that is in every book. He's sort of mutually everyone's favorite sibling, but no one's best friend sibling, if that makes sense. So, Penelope is in the first three books mentioned, specifically in I think in Anony's book because there is a scene with her and Kate and her being like dunked on by Crest Kalpa. By the way, that's another character that I adore what they did with in the show. Like in the books, Cresta, she's very much the same character. She still has that whole thing of
she tries to blackmail Penelope because the whole Lady Whistled Down thing, she pretends to be Lady Whistled Down, but in the show like she's just a straight up [ __ ] Like she's just a villain. I love it when shows and movies do this in general when they like humanize the villain. It's not like a kids fairy tale. Like if someone is sort of a villain, there is usually a reason For why they behave the way they do. And I love how they explored that in season 3 of the show and gave Cressed this backstory
of like how she's going to be forced to marry this old man, how she's been raised. Just again, Shondaanda, [singing] but I went off on a tangent with that. So, in the show as well, obviously Penelopey is Lady Whistled Down. We find that out at the end of season 1. Penelopey is such like a prominent Character in the show, and she is in the first few books. She's mentioned a lot, but we don't find out she's Lady Whistled Down until her book. And quite far into her book. I mean, it's obvious. It's especially obvious when
you already know from watching the show, but I mean, it's not exactly subtle in the book that she is Lady Whistled Down, but you don't find out until like at least halfway through Colin and Penelopey's book that she is Lady Whistled Down. Also, in the Show at the end of their season, everyone finds out that she's Lady Whistled Down, but she's going to continue to write. They're not removing Lady Whistled Down from the show. It's just that everyone's going to know it's Penelopey. In the book, she quits being Lady Whistled Down. So, in the first
three books, all the Lady Whistled Down gossip is part of the story. Like, at the beginning of every chapter, there's an excerpt from the Lady Whistled Down Issue. People are talking about like, "Oh, this is going to be in Lady Whistled Down." After book three, there's just no there's just no mention of Lady Whistled Down. It's just not a thing that exists anymore. That is quite random now when I think about it. Like it's a like it's a prevalent thread through the first three books and then after after Colin finds out Penelopey just like and
the whole cresa thing like she just gives it up and she doesn't Write Lady Whistle down anymore. I'm glad the show didn't do that. But it'll be interesting going forward how they will play it now that everyone knows that it's Penelope. H I really don't know how they're going to play the whole Lady Whistled Down thing. So Colin and Penelope story. If you watched my last video on friends to lovers, you'll know it's one of my favorite tropes of all time. I love it and I did really really enjoy the friends to lovers of Colin
and Penelopey both on show and both in and in book their like scenes were pretty spicy especially the whole like and I want to do it in front of a mirror. I was so happy when I got to that part of the book cuz I was like oh my god I understand the reference now. Here's the thing. I liked the book, but I just I struggled to read the book because I compared it so much to the TV show. And I obviously did that with Daphne and with Anthony, but I think I did it the
Most with Colin and Penelopey because it was the most recent season and because I hadn't rewatched the show at all. It had been a while since I'd watched Daphne season especially, but then Anthony and Kate, it'd been years since I'd seen that. So, I think my head was very much just picturing like Luke and Nicola and the latest season. And I think because it was the freshest in my mind, it was the biggest comparison. So, I actually think I might have rated this book a bit Unfairly low. I think had I only read the books
and this was I was doing this like 10 years ago whenever the books first came out and I had no concept of the TV show, I think this book would have been much higher on my list. That being said, I put it at number five. Looking at this list, I don't know if I agree with it at all. I looked on a Reddit thread where um people were saying like, "Let me know your rankings of all the Bridgetton books." And all The comments were just so inconsistent. Like, there seemed to be no common denominators of
what people's favorites were. There was a comment for every single combination of order of books. So, I really don't actually think there's a right answer for this, and I don't think my ranking really is correct. It's heavily biased on my opinions of the show, like how I read them and stuff, but I have put it at number five. What else can I say about Colin and Penelopey really? Again, I just have to compliment the show. I just have to compliment the show throughout this video because in the same way they made like Caesar this sort
of easy villain, I feel like they did that a lot with Porsche with Penelopey's mom in the books. She was just very like stereotypical mother. She's not too dissimilar to how she is in the show. But I love the dimensions they added to Porsche and Philipper and Prudence. I Love the Featherington family in the show, whereas in the book I didn't really care. Did I mention before there is a fourth Featherington? There's a younger sister called Felicity. So, Penelopey and Eloise are really close friends, which by the way, you don't find out until the fourth
book. But Felicity, the youngest Featherington sister in the books, is Hient's best friend. Let's move on to Eloise. I have quite a lot to say about Eloise. Is There anything left in my teapot? Hey. Ah, right. So, I mentioned before because I was so familiar with the TV show characters. If in the books they did something that didn't match the TV show version of their character, I really just it just went in one ear and straight out the other. I just didn't pay attention to it. I was like, that's not true. Eloise, we know Eloise
so well from the show. She gets so much screen time. I feel like we know her character Really well in the book. She's not overly mentioned until her book. She is in Collins story because she's a good friend of Penelopey, but there's none of this like whistle down hunting. There's none of the whole her relationship with Theo that doesn't exist in the books. An amazing addition to the show. I love that they actually gave all of the siblings. They gave them a bit more romantic backstory if they had the room to do so. I actually
really love that we Saw Anthony being a rake because in the books he is this former rake. Benedict's had a lot of previous romantic storylines which is interesting like especially in the last season with him with the whole threesome thing. Don't know if we necessarily needed that but yeah with Eloise when it came to her book I was like oh yes one of my favorite characters in the show I know this character really well before going into the book and one of the reasons I Wanted to read the book is because I knew she was
going to end up with Silip Crane. So, if you don't know who S Philip Crane is, it's this character right here who in the end of season 1 marries Marina. So, obviously in the show, the whole Marina plot of her, she's a cousin of the Featheringtons and she goes and stays with the Featheringtons and she's illegitimately pregnant. None of that happens in the books, but Marina is a character. Merina Is a Bridgetton cousin who is married to Sir Phillip Crane. She has kids with Philillip. They are Philillip's twin children, not his brothers. They have a
loveless marriage. She's really depressed. And she commits suicide at the beginning of that book, leaving Philillip widowed with two twin kids. And he'd spent years like in a loveless, completely sexless marriage with Marina. And what happens is Eloise, she just loves to write letters and she's a Corres she writes a lot of correspondence to people. And when Marina dies, she writes to Philip Crane just basically saying, "I'm really sorry to hear about the loss of my cousin Marina. I don't remember much about her. We only met a few times as kids. I'm sorry for your
loss and for the children's loss." And he replies to her letter saying, "Thank you." and they just accidentally keep sending letters back and forth and asking each other Questions and getting to know each other, writing letters for a long period of time, a maybe a year. Again, this is something where in the show are they going to pepper that in early through season 4 of the show? Are they going to show what happens to Merina? Part of me thinks that they're really going to change the Marina storyline because she's already a character in the show
and she's been a character in the show since season 1. I I just I just feel Like because we know this character, it'll be really crazy if her fate is the same as the book. But I also don't understand how Eloise and Philip's story can work if that is not what happens. So that'll be really interesting to see how they adapt that. And I was really looking forward to re-watching the show after I'd read these books because the first time I watched it, I obviously paid no attention to the character of Philip Crane. He's barely
in it and I Paid no attention really to the scenes he was in. So I was really chomping at the bit to watch it again and see Philip Crane. We don't see much of his character in the show, but what we do see of him, I really like his character. There's a scene specifically where Colin goes around to see Marina and he ends up staying and Colin and Philip get along really well. Um, he's also like shown to be very honorable. He marries Marina even though the kids aren't his because They were his brother's kids.
They're already planting the seeds of making Philip much more likable than he is in the book. And it's years probably until we're going to get his Eloise's season because they swapped Benedict and Colin. And because they've already introduced Francesca's story in season 3, I'm a little suspicious that they might swap Francesca and Eloise around in the show as well. I wouldn't be surprised if when they announced season five of Bridgetton, it's Francesca's season and not Eloise's. So, reading this book, if I had just read the books, I don't think I would like it as much
as I had if I hadn't watched the show. I liked the book more because Eloise is one of my favorite TV show characters. And because Philillip, we've seen barely anything of him, but you can already tell he's going to be like a really nice man when they depict him in the show as long as the same actor comes back, which I really Hope he does. In the book, Philillip's a little bit of a dick. and Eloise while still a similar character like a headstrong character who was very much like women shouldn't have to get married
but reluctantly especially when Penelope does get married and they've both been spinsters for ages is like oh well maybe I should go and see if I would want to marry Philillip. So story of Eloise's book is as I said her and Philip talk over letters back and forth despite Having never met. Then Philip sends a letter basically saying, "I think we'd be a good match for marriage. You should come and stay with me so we can meet in person and decide whether we want to get married." Which is just the most unromantic thing ever. And
Eloise [snorts] doesn't reply cuz she's like, "What the fuck?" But then Colin and Penelope get married. She always thought her and Penelopey would like just be spinsters Together forever because they're like both 28 at that point. They are much younger in the show because they bring forward Colin and Penelopey's story. So when Penelope gets married, it like really shakes Eloise up and she's just like she runs off. She doesn't tell anyone. She runs off alone and goes to Philip's house without even telling Philillip she's going, which is so out of character in a sense. I
mean, she does run off and go off with Theo and do All this investigating by herself. I think in the show they're going to have to change a lot of Eloisea's story from the book. But anyway, in the book she runs off to go and see Philillip. He's obviously really shocked she's there. They have no chaperone there because he didn't know she was going. So, it's all a bit scandalous. He has two twins who are really out of control. He's a bit of a [ __ ] dad to them. Like, he's not a good dad.
Again, that went in one ear And out the other cuz I was just like, "No, but that's not going to happen in the show." So, I'm just not in taking it as information in the book. And the children are awful. They like bully Eloise. They're trying to get her out of the house. But Eloise is really good with them. She makes them come around. And then all of the Bridgetton brothers, all four of the Bridgton brothers turn up. They start like beating up [laughter] Phillip and they're like, "What are you doing here? Where did you
go? We didn't know where you were." And they force Philip and Eloise to get married cuz they're like, "This is scandal. You have to get married. You ran away to this man's house. You have to marry him now." which in the books is what happens with Daphany and it's what happens with Anthony. And it happens here with Eloise where they're forced to get married. They're like attracted to each other. They've kissed but they sort Of hate each other. It's a I think Julia Quinn was trying to recreate Kate and Anony's vibe with Eloise and Phillip,
but it didn't really hit as hard because I don't think they made Philillip as likable. And then when they get married, they obviously then fall in love. Eloise becomes stepmom to Amanda and Oliver and they have their own kid. So, I've really biasedly rated this book. Really, this book should be one of the lower ones, but because I see it being adapted Really well into the show, I think they're going to change a lot of it. I think they're going to have to really pull like a Kate and Anthony switch up from the story, but
I have so much trust that they're going to do that and it's going to be really, really good. Shonda Rimes, if you're watching, babe, know you are. Please go and watch Sandon season two and just knock off Sanditon season two for Eloise's season. If you guys watching have never watched Sandon, You should watch Sandon. But specifically in season two of Sandon, the love story is she's had her heart broken like I'm never going to get married. I don't need a man. She's very Eloise about it. And so she's like, I have to make my own
way in the world. I'm going to be a governness. So she goes and gets a governness position for these two kids that are out of control, have lost their mothers, like for this widowerower man. The two kids are out of Control. They're absolute dicks. They try to like bully her to get her out the house. They go through so many ganesses because they can't hack it and they all leave. But she brings the family back together. She falls in love with the dad and the the like children love her. She helps them like helps heal
all their trauma and they become a really happy family. It's really like enemies to lovers and please Shonda, that's what I want. And I think that's why I took a Lot of like sort of mental liberties when I was reading Eloise's book because the vibe was very reminiscent to Sandon. And Sandin is one of my favorite TV shows of all time. And that couple in Sandon is one of my favorite on-screen couples of all time, if not my number one favorite on-screen couple. Oh, I ranked it number six. I thought I'd put it higher than
that. No, six is fair. Six is fair. So I've put to Phillip with love at number six. But if they just Knock off Sandon, I think it could be one of the best seasons of Bridgetton. So that's my tea. That's my red wine on Eloise's story. Okay, who's next? A B CDE E F. So I mentioned before I'd read the books, I almost felt like I didn't need to because I'd already seen all the spoilers and I knew who all the Bridgetton were going to end up with. And especially after that season three, we see
Franchesca get married to John. And then at the end, we met Michaela and it was very obvious that that was going to turn into like a love triangle situation. And I remember when that came out, I obviously didn't know what was coming cuz I hadn't read the books. But at this at the time, I was like, why are we mar marrying Franchesca off now? That's weird. Now I obviously know why. And I'm glad that they did that. I'm glad they set the stage in advance for someone. They should have done it Already, I think, for
Benedict in the masquerade. And I hope they do it in advance for Eloise and her letters, but at least they did it for Franchesca. And when that happened, I remember seeing everyone kicking off online because they'd clearly recast Michael and turned him into Michaela. And at the time when everyone was really angry about it, I was thinking to myself, I was just like, it's giving homophobic. It's giving you hate lesbians. Like of All the changes the show makes, like everything it does for diversifying race, like modernizing different things, it makes complete sense to me that
at least one of the Bridgetton kids is gay. You're going to have eight kids and none of them are gay. Get over yourself. Like statistically, that's not going to happen, right? Obviously, Benedict, are we going to I mean, we saying Benedict's by. I mean, Franchesca, I guess, is by too because she did marry a man and fall In love with a man as well. Point being, I was always like, it kind of makes sense to gender swap at least one of the Bridgetton stories. And I was like, so it had to be someone. Why not
Franchesca? And then I read the book and I was like, oh no, I'm fuming that they gender swapped Michael. Michael is the best male hero in all of the books. I was going to say not including the Bridgetens themselves. Like out of the four sisters romantic heroes, he's Definitely the best out of the four sisters romantic heroes. He's better than Simon, Philillip, and Gareth. I think he's better than Book Benedict. He's probably better than Book Anthony. I think When He Was Wicked is the best book. It's so different though. Like all the Bridgetton books are
spicy books. They fe they all feature sex, but When He Was Wicked is like 80% smut. I think there's a bit more side story maybe in the other books. When he was wicked, It's literally just them having sex [laughter] for the entire book. It's the book I devoured the quickest. I was hooked. It was the best book. Saying that, I put it at number two on my ranking. One and two should maybe be swapped. Here's the thing. When he was wicked, better book than An Offer from a Gentleman, but An Offer from a Gentleman might
be the best season of TV we get. And I I don't think Francesca's season of TV will be good. Shondaanda, I've got Faith in you, babe. You've done a great great job. I trust it's still going to be good. Here's the thing with the gender swap as well. So, Francesca's story. She gets married to John. They're very happy together. They have a happy marriage. John has a cousin who is called Michael. From first meeting, Michael, like love at first sight with Franchesca. He's enamored the second he sees her. He's a massive rake. He sleeps around.
He doesn't form feelings for Anyone. But the first time he sees Franchesca, smitten, he's in love. He yearns for her. He fell first. He fell years first and he's like John's best friend and he's always around. The three of them are this trio, but he kind of kind of tries to keep his distance a little bit out of respect for John, his cousin, his best friend. He's like, I'm in love with his wife. That's so messed up. Then John very suddenly passes away again. I guess that's another character That they bring in knowing they're going
to die. So from the show, that's two characters that are going to be in the show for quite a while knowing that they are going to die. But John and Franchesca are very happy. Francesca in no way thinks of Michael romantically. He's just like her and John's best friend and John's cousin. Whereas in the show, they did it like the opposite way round. like Francesca lost her words and got really nervous and was clearly love At first sight when she met Michaela which kind of affects the dynamic of their relationship because the rest of the
book so John is an only child because Jon was an only child when Jon dies his title all his inheritance like all the properties everything goes to Michael and the whole thing is Michael's like I'm taking John's entire life I'm taking his title I'm taking his houses. I'm taking like his his money. I'm taking his job. I cannot dishonor my Cousin and best friend by also taking his wife. But then Francesca's like, so Franchesca is pregnant when Jon dies, but then she miscarries. So that she never had children with John. But Francesca is really maternal.
She's like, I want kids, and in order to have kids, I'm going to have to get remarried. So Francesca goes out on the market again and she's like, "I'm going to find I'm going to find myself a husband." Michael is obviously not happy About this because he's in love with Franchesca. So Michael's just fuming about this, really jealous. And Colin, everyone's favorite Bridgetton sibling, is like, "Just marry her, Michael. You should just marry her. You're obviously in love with my sister. Just marry her." And Michael's no like, "No, I can't. I like I can't take
John's wife." Anyway, Michael and Francesca kiss. She freaks out. She's like, "I'm going to Scotland because that's where she normally Lives." She gets in a carriage to go to Scotland. Michael's like, "Do you know what? [ __ ] it. I'm going to marry Francesca." Chase to Scotland. So, that's the beginning of the book. Doesn't even take up that much of the book. Maybe the first quarter of the book, I want to say, but I don't actually know off the top of my head. The rest of the book is just them having sex in Scotland. So,
Michael's whole thing of how he's going to get Francesca To marry him is he's going to seduce her. And it's crazy seduction. Like Michael and Francesca are just the it couple. Eventually they do decide they're in like Francesca realizes she's in love with Michael. They get married. In the epilogue we see they're married for years and years and years and years. There's so many Bridgetton grandchildren. Like even Gregory who's the youngest, Violet's like, "Yeah, his wife's pregnant." And uh Francesca's Like, "Again?" And they haven't managed to conceive. But all Franchesca wants in life is kids.
And eventually, years and years later, her and Michael managed to get pregnant. Here's the thing about the gender swap. Part of me is like, it doesn't matter that it's gender swapped because she's already been married. Maybe they're just going to be like, and they were roommates. Maybe they will give her children from John. They already changed so much in the universe Show of Bridgetton. Are they just going to make gay marriage legal in Regency era in Bridgetton? I don't know. I feel like we would have heard about it also in um in Benedict's stories in
the show. Uh he he used to go to those parties, didn't he? When he was um banging the seamstress, he made friends with that that guy who was having an affair with that other man. And that was very taboo. It was hidden. It was like Benedict was shocked to learn that men did that. Obviously, Benedict then goes on to be in that weird like threesome couple. It has been shown on the show that like being gay is still very much like era accurate taboo. So I think it's pretty obvious that in the show Michaela and
Francesca are not going to be able to get married and it will be a taboo relationship which is why I said they're going to just be roommates in Scotland which they absolutely could be and I think that's probably what the show is Going to have to do. I don't know where the show is going to go because the thing about Franchesca and Michael's story is there's not a lot of plot and it's really really juicy and runchy to read. But on screen, I think they're going to have to add a lot of context to the
story because otherwise it's just them banging. It's just them having sex the entire time. It's sort of the opposite to Eloise that we were just talking about. Like the book wasn't that great, but I think they'll be able to make it a really interesting plot on TV. Whereas with Franchesca, the book was really good, but I don't know how interesting it'll be on TV cuz it's definitely the Bridgetton book that has the least plot. So, I'm scared for Franchesca's season. I hold my breath in baited anticipation for Francesca. Book seven, we get to Hyinth. And
here's the thing. Seven and eight higher than Gregory. I feel like I Read them and in took their stories very differently to the previous six for a couple of reasons. I think mainly the first six. They're much more like prevalent characters on the TV show. His and Gregory are obviously in it a lot, but they're very much like background character children. It's going to take us a long time to get to their seasons on TV, especially if it's every 2 years. I will say for higher than Gregory, I think there's a lot of speculation about
Whether when we get to their seasons on TV, it'll be the same actors. I really hope it is. If they do do a season every 2 years, like they have been doing, then the actors will absolutely be old enough by the time we get to their seasons, like what are we in now? So, we're going to get four in 26. We'll get five in 28, six in 2030, guys. Um, so highest h highest since we're talking 2032 and then Gregory we're talking [snorts] ew. Oh my god, I'm going to be so old. I'm going to
be so old when we get around to Gregory season. Those two actors though, right now I think they're like 18 or 19. I think they're going to be like they're going to be in their early 20s, but they will be old enough. But then there is that whole debate of like Bridgetton's a spicy show and they'll have to film sex scenes and they've been on the show since kids. So is it almost as if they're being groomed into these sex Scenes and will it be weird to watch them in those scenes if we've watched them
literally grow up? Like in Game of Thrones, everyone thought it was really weird when they saw Maisie Williams. I was more like, "Yes, get it, girl. We're fully grown." There is sort of like a really delicate debate, I think, between keeping the actors, but I really hope we do. I absolutely love Francesca's recasting. I think she's an amazing Franchesca. I think she looks facially Very similar to Ruby, who she replaced, but I also feel really bad for the original actress that she missed out on getting her own season. And I hope that the hire something
Gregory's actors don't put in years in this show to just before their season get replaced because they want the actors to be older. That's how I feel about that. Uh but anyway, let's get into higher story. So Hyasin's story in like concept I love. I think Hyin's story will translate really Really well into TV. I actually think I really shot myself in the foot with Hyerson's book because when I got back I was really busy. I felt like I didn't have time to read. I read I think the first four chapters but it took me
ages to get through them. Like I was reading just like a little bit at nighttime but then falling straight to sleep. So I wasn't really getting through much of Hyson's book. And then one day when I was like running errands and cleaning I Was like you know what I'm going to do cuz I want to get through highest book. I'm going to listen to the audio book. Put the audio book on. I was like, this is unlistenable. It's horrible. I'm so sorry to the narrator, but I really, really despise your voice. And it's the narrator
for all of the Bridgton books, by the way. Same narrator for everyone. Horrible. Horrible. So, I listen I started listening to I was like, I physically cannot listen to this. It's Making me gag. Like another week went by and I'd barely had time to read any of the story. And then I was driving. I had a bit of a long drive and I was like, do you know what? Let's just try this audio book again. And once I'd been listening for a while, like I just got used to the narration and I listened to the
whole thing with the narrator. But the narration is horrible. And I think I would have loved higher's book if I had just read it. Like I I read the other Seven and I listened to higher. I think if I hadn't listened to higher, this book would be higher in my ranking because this is where I put Hyers's book in my ranking. Yikes. I'm going to play some of the audio book for you because it's absolutely gross. >> He never visited her rooms. We'll go up the main stairs. Gareth said quietly. We'll be less likely to
be heard. >> I hate it. Maybe other people don't mind That. Oh god, it's so southern. It's so posh. The way she does voices, all the men's voices, it's like, "Oh yes." And then all the girls voices like, "Oh my gosh, oh my gilly. Oh my go goody gosh." I didn't really enjoy how's book, but I do think it is massively because I hated the audio book narrator. [laughter] I also didn't really like Gareth, who is Hi's love interest. Gareth is Lady Danry's grandson, and Hi is very close to Lady Danbury. She goes and reads
to Her every week. I'm looking forward in the coming seasons to maybe sort of them foreshadowing how close Hyers and Lady Danbury are going to be. And hopefully they introduce Gareth before highest season because in the books we don't meet Gareth until book seven, but they don't meet in book seven. They do already know who each other are. And like there's nothing wrong with Gareth. Like Philillip is probably a worse character in the books than Gareth. But I don't know. I just I just found Gareth really bland. Gareth I find really similar to Simon. Simon
and Gareth felt like really really similar characters. Like they both hate their dads and are really estranged from their dads. Their dads are like villains. And they both kind of use seduction as a weapon, but not in the sexy way Michael does. So didn't love Gareth. But Hyinth is one of my favorite Bridgettons. I love Hyasin. I love her in the show. This is why I Hope they don't change the actress. She's so like freespirited. She's so like youngest kid. Not in an annoying way, just in a like has this sort of natural rebellious nature.
She just speaks her mind. She's very sort of Eloisecoded but like without Eloise's cynicism. I just I love Hi. I think she's so fun and I wish she had a more exciting partner than Gareth. So, the plot of Hyasin's book, Gareth is the son of this really Horrible guy who hates him because he is a bastard. He's illegitimate. His wife had an affair with someone. He doesn't know who. So, he doesn't know who Gareth's dad is, but he just knows that Gareth is not his son. Gareth also has an older brother who is to inherit
the family estate and everything. The father is like a massive gambler, has spent all their money and is like, "You need to marry this woman cuz she has a really good dowy." The family can't marry her Off to anyone else. So, you're going to marry her. Take her huge dowy and bring it to the family. And then Gareth's brother dies. I don't know why I'm laughing. [laughter] Gareth's brother dies, but therefore Gareth is set to inherit the family title and everything, but we're not sure if he is because his dad hates him so much that
he might just announce, "Oh, actually, he's illegitimate just to get Back at Gareth." But at the same time, like the family is broke and has no money and is in loads of debt. So, in a way, Gareth inheriting this from the dad who hates him is almost almost his his dad's way of being like, "Haha, you're going to get all my debt." So Gareth is just this really pained sad boy. But when his brother dies, his brother's wife comes and sees Gareth and she's like, "I found this diary. It was your grandma's, as in the
dad's mother." So Gareth is in his head thinking, "Hm, not my grandma, cuz that's not my dad." But he takes this diary, but it's all in Italian, so he can't read it. He takes it to Lady Danbury, who's his grandmother. He goes with the diary, explains that he needs someone to translate it from Italian, and hire's like, "I speak Italian. I speak quite bad Italian, but I speak Italian. I could translate it. So, they work translating this diary together. When She's translating this diary, she finds that there's like like treasure hunt in it. So, the
grandmother hid jewels somewhere. There's a clue in the diary, like behind a wardrobe at his father's house. And so, it turns into this sort of like mystery treasure hunt that Gareth and Hy go on together to try and find these jewels. Loved that. When it got into that story line, I was like, "This is going to be juicy." There's a scene where they're like the first time They sneak into the house to find this clue. The butler comes into the room and they have to hide in this wardrobe and they're pressed up against each other
in the wardrobe. It's the middle of the night. She sneaks out in men's clothing and stuff and I was like, "Yes, this will make great TV. This is a really exciting plot." But then it just kind of got a bit tame. like they kind of forgot that they were doing that and the plot suddenly sort of turned to Gareth is Going to seduce Hyers instead. And I when they change it to TV, please God, just turn it into more of a treasure hunt mystery and less into like a seduction. But look, if there's if there's
one thing the Bridgetton siblings love, it's premarital sex. And hi is a big fan of it, right? She gets seduced by Gareth really easily to the full finish line and then they get engaged even though Hiestin is already kind of into Gareth and it's just kind Of a bit like where's the juice? Also, you've forgotten about these jewels you're on a hunt for. So, I think Hi's book it started out really promisingly and I just think it kind of forgot what it was doing and lost its way. Oh, yeah. And then the ending of that
book is in the diary. Hisinth works out who Gareth's father is and his father was his [ __ ] dad's brother. So he is actually part of the family and it was actually his grandmother's diary that He's been translating. So sadly Hyasin is really close to the bottom of the list for me. That being said, I think Shan Rhymes will do an amazing job adapting it on the TV show. I think that's the tea on highest than Gareth. Let's talk about Gregory book eight. Greggy Greggy [laughter] Greggy I feel like I knew the less about
the less about I can't speak obviously like I said him and hire like the kids throughout but you see hient a lot more In the books because she's always at home with her mother whereas in the books Gregory goes off to like school and you don't really see much of him. You see him a little bit in Eloise's book and we see him a little bit in Hyerson's book, but other than that, you don't really see Gregory or have really a handle on what his character is. So, Gregory, I feel like I was able to
be the most objective with removed from like the show who was very much like I Could read it as its own entity in the book. Gregory is a real simp. So, Gregory's story, Gregory has witnessed all seven of his siblings find love matches and they're all really happily married. And so, therefore, Gregory is like this hopeless romantic. He truly believes in love. He believes that he will fall in love. And because he's witnessed all these incredible love stories, he thinks love is going to hit him kind of like it hit Benedict, like It's going to
be like love at first sight. It's going to hit him like a ton of bricks. It's just going to be like indescribable. He's going to really know when he falls in love. And that happens to him or he thinks it happens to him. So he sees this girl called, are you ready for this? Hermione Watson. What in the Harry Potter alt universe? Hermione is a unique enough name as it is. But then to give her the surname Watson is [laughter] crazy. He sees the Back of Hermione's neck. He's like, "Oh my god, it's love at
first sight." basically just really really like she's described as like the most beautiful woman ever. She's almost like Helen of Troy. Like he basically is just like infatuated with her on first sight and he like chases her. He's trying to pursue her. Hermione has a best friend called Lucy. Hermione is sort of in in love with this guy called Edmund, I think. But Lucy doesn't approve like it Would be her marrying down. She she thinks that Hermione can do better than this Edmund guy. And so when when Gregory Bridgetton shows his interest in Hermione, it's
kind of like a bit of a Sirino situation. She's she goes to Gregory, she's like, "I'm gonna help you win Hermione because you're a better choice for her." So like Lucy tries to help Gregory win Hermione. But Lucy kind of starts to fall for Gregory. And then there's a masquerade ball that Anthony And Kate host. Kate's really prevalent in Gregory's book. Kate is like so close to Gregory, which I love. Kate throws this masquerade ball and they all go. Lucy's brother turns up because he's like, "Lucy, you have to come home because you have to
marry this man that you've been betrothed to for ages." And Lucy's always been fine with that cuz he's like an earl. It's a good match. But at this point, she's like, "Oh, no. Well, I'm in love with Gregory, but that Doesn't matter cuz he's in love with my best friend, Hermione." Gregory's meets Lucy's brother and immediately is like, "Your brother is in love with Hermione. Your brother loves Hermione. Your brother wants to marry Hermione." And she's just like, "No, he doesn't. What are you talking about? That that's my brother. He sees her as a sister.
She's a sister to me. My brother also sees her as a sister. He looks out for her like a sister." Anyway, Hermione and the Brother go missing at this masquerade ball. And so Kate, Gregory, and Lucy all go hunting for her, and they find them together in a compromising situation. And so Hermione has to marry Lucy's brother, which means that Gregory obviously can no longer pursue Hermione. Uh Gregory then gets really drunk, bumps into Lucy in the corridor, and they just start like kissing and going at it, but they break away and Lucy runs away.
Gregory, even after this like incredibly Passionate kiss, doesn't realize that he's into Lucy. Gregory is a bit of an idiot. Like he's a proper s in this book, but like an idiot. Anyway, so they they separate. Lucy's like, "I have to leave because I'm getting married to someone else." Gregory's like, "All right, bon vage, babe. Good luck. Have a nice life." Then a couple of weeks go by. They bump into each other again in London. Gregory goes out of his way to get Lucy to be able to attend this party Because she's being held hostage
at her [ __ ] [clears throat] uncle's house. Her her uncle's a massive dick. He's like, "You're not allowed to go out into society until you are married. you don't need to go into society because you've already found a husband. Gregory suddenly decides he's in love with Lucy out of [ __ ] nowhere. So, Hyasin helps him out to get them into a situation where they can be alone together. The party's at Daphne's house. So, they go Into Daphne's like bedroom and Gregory's like, "I love you, Lucy. Marry me." And she's like, "Yes, I'll marry
you." Even though she's getting married next week to this other guy. Also, Gregory knows her fiance and he's like, "Oh, by the way, your fiance is gay. He doesn't he doesn't like women." first gay mention in the book. And so Lucy goes home to her [ __ ] uncle and she's like, "I want to call off the wedding. I'm gonna marry Gregory Bridgetton instead." And He's like, "You can't do that." And she's like, "I know that the guy I'm marrying is gay, basically." And he's like, "That doesn't matter." She's like, "But I want to have
children." You went like, "It's fine. If he can't make you pregnant, his dad will." So basically like his uncle's selling him selling her off knowing that the guy's gay but like his horrible smelly dad will impregnate her instead. And she's like no I can't I can't do that. No you have to because The whole reason you're marrying them is because they're blackmailing us because your dad her dad died when she was a kid. your dad like committed treason against the country and he was like a spy for the French and her like fiance's dad has
proof that her dad was a traitor and if she doesn't marry the gay guy then the gay guy's dad is going to release this proof that her dad committed treason and therefore she will be ruined Because the entire family's name will be ruined. They've got an illdom. That ild would be stripped away because Hermayan is now her sister-in-law because she married her brother. That means that her brother and Hermione would also be ruined and her brother wouldn't be an ill anymore. Like the ilden would be stripped from her brother and therefore Hermione. So she's like,
"Okay, I'm going to have to marry this gay guy." So she's going through the wedding. The Night before the wedding, Gregory sneaks into her bedroom. You guessed it. What do the Bridgetans love? Bit of premarital sex. Bang. All night. He's like, "You're gonna take care of this, right? Aren't you loose?" She's like, "Yeah, yeah, I'll take care of it. You just need to leave. Go and sit in this tree outside my bedroom window. I'll signal to you like this if I if I need your help." Gregory leaves, sits in this tree, calls for Colin. Colin
comes over. Gregory and Colin sit in this tree to to unlock the house. Nothing happens until the wedding carriage comes around, picks everyone up. He sees Lucy go off to the wedding in a wedding dress. He's like, "The fuck?" So, Gregory runs after the carriage. Halfway through the wedding, like when they're made vows, Gregory just bursts into the church. He's like, "Don't marry him, Lucy. Marry me. Marry me. What are you doing? Don't marry him, Lucy." Lucy obviously knowing like, "Well, I have to marry him because my dad committed treason and we're being blackmailed." Is
like, "No, I'm not going to marry you, Gregory." Gregory gets hauled out the church. Crazy. She marries him. She full-on marries the gay guy. At the wedding reception, Gregory sneaks into sneaks into the house again. Waits in her room. She goes into her room for a moment by herself. Gregory ambushes her, takes her to this like Maid's water closet, ties her up, like takes her captive, ties her up. This story is so crazy. It's so un the last few chapters of this book were crazy. Yeah. He ties her up. He's like, "I don't trust you
not to run away, you silly sausage. Give me an hour. I'll sort this." Oh, because she tells him, he's like, "Tell me what's actually going on." She tells him the whole truth. She tells him about her dad committing treason and that they're Being blackmailed. Gregory's like, "Leave it with me, babe. I'm going to leave you tied tied up in this closet for an hour, but I'll be back in an hour and I'll have sorted it." Okay, Gregory. He leaves, teams up with the gay husband, Hermione Granger, and the brother. Some guns get involved. The brother
like pulls out a couple of guns, gives one to Gregory, like just in case you need it. I'm like, why? [laughter] Why are we getting guns involved, right? Gay guy's like, I don't know anything about blackmail. I don't know this story. The brother's like, ain't no way my dad committed treason. I knew him. He wouldn't do that. Anyway, Gregory and Haye go back to where Gregory's tied up Lucy in this cupboard. She's not there anymore cuz the [ __ ] uncle found her. Hold her into a different room. They all barge in. Gregory barges in.
They're all holding each other at gunpoint like that that thing in the Office. And then it turns out that it was the uncle that committed treason, not their dad. It was the [ __ ] uncle. And they're like, "Well, it doesn't matter if you're a if you committed treason. like that won't ruin our name because you were never the ear and you're a dick and we hate you anyway. And so the smelly the smelly dad of the gay guy is just like yeah I'm not going to say anything which I don't really know why. And
the gay guy is like Oh I'll I'll get an anulment Lucy an anulment an anulment in Bridgetton and the gay guy is just real chill. He's just sitting there on looking. He's like I don't want to get married to a woman. You know I'm gay anyway. Um but I'm going to have to because I want kids to carry on. They're all ears in this book as well. He's like, I want a kid to carry on my Elden because my cousin's a dick and I don't want it to go to him. So, I will have to
marry a girl at some Point just to like put a baby in it. Gay guy agrees to an anulment. Gregory and Lucy start getting off. It's crazy. It was crazy. So, this book, I was kind of into it at the beginning. I was like, "Oh, I love this idea. This sort of reverse Sino thing where she's going to help matchmate Gregory with her friend, but she's actually going to fall in love with Gregory herself." I was like loving that. It kind of went offkilter a bit when Hermione ended up having to marry The brother. I
was like, where are they going with this? Cuz that was like less than halfway through the book. I was like, what's the rest of the book going to be? And then it kind of got a bit dull and I was just like, I don't understand how they're going to close up this story cuz the prologue is him barging into the wedding. So, you know, he's going to barge into the wedding from the prologue. And I was like, where are they going with this? I don't Understand how they're going to do it. the last few chapters,
the chapter from like where he breaks into her room the night before the wedding and then the whole wedding day and the whole thing with like gunshot. Oh, I forgot to mention the uncle gets shot not fatally but like gets shot in the shoulder. There's like a proper like shots are fired. It's crazy. [laughter] It will make such good TV. But it was so removed from the rest of the book and so Really removed from the rest of Bridgetton. There's two parts in the whole Bridgetton book. was like, "Oh my god, that's so exciting and
different cuz it was like crime and it's when Sophie gets thrown in jail and when it's it's when Gregory is in a shootoff at the end [laughter] of this book." I loved Lucy and Gregory. Gregory was a bit of a s, but I think it just it makes sense. Like youngest of eight, by the way, in the epilogue they have nine Kids, which ruined it. I'm going to pretend that didn't happen. This book was crazy. It was really different to the rest of them, but I actually loved it. I was on the edge of my
seat. I devoured the end of that book. So I was like, what is [laughter] happening? And so for that reason, Gregory I put forth. That might have been a bit high. I'm really excited to see that on TV. And if they keep that ending and that's the ending of Bridgetton. It's going to be Such a dramatic crazy ending to Bridgetton. And I kind of love that. I kind of love that for the show. But the show is so like there's a lot of drama and angst, but like if we just go through the whole show
and it carries on like the other seasons we've seen so far do and we get to season 8, 16 years of the show and it just ends with that drama like people getting kidnapped, treason, guns being fired, anulments. It's going to be wild. So I actually Really liked Gregory's book. There you go. So that's the tea. That's the red wine on Bridgeten. All in all, I'm really glad I read the books because it makes the show look so much better and it made watching the show really exciting because um I got to notice all the
little foreshadowing things. Like it was so exciting to rewatch and see Philip Crane. It was so exciting to watch and see the setup for Merina again. It was really exciting to see Like Jon and Michaela get introduced again in the end of season 3. I'm just really looking forward to the rest of the show. I hate how long it takes between seasons, but at the same time, I want to let them off because if they keep taking two years, and that means we get to hopefully keep and Gregory as the same actors because they'll be
old enough if we wait 2 years between seasons. But that's the tea. I'm sure I'll be back when season 4 drops in January. I will absolutely have a lot to say about it. So, we'll get a bit more into specifically Benedict and Sophie's story in January when the season drops. But until next time guys, I bid you farewell.
