Midweek Meeting | United State | November 5-10 2024

Forward to our meeting this evening we have many things to look forward to uh we begin with our Bible reading and uh no doubt we're going to look at one of the seven covenants and see how it affects us today look forward to your comments in the spiritual gems portion and then we have uh for apply ourselves to the ministry we have two conversation starters and two uh examples to follow up so it's going to prepare us for the Ministry this week and this weekend so we really looking forward to those those parts from our

friends then we have uh expressions of your love about donations and if you look closely for our Canadian friends that looks like a tuny they're putting in the box there so I guess that's where tunies go and then uh we can also catch up with the Apostle Paul in his ministry there in thessalonica in our Bible study so we look forward to this uh all in our Meeting so now let's give our attention to brother Bumpus Barnett and he has the theme he remembers his Covenant forever an attendance live in a world that is being

ruled by SATs and the devil John 8:44 describes Satan as the father of the lie and that people in the world wish to do the desires of their father and so it only makes sense that we live in a decep receptive world a world full of broken promises for example a University's Promise young ones Prestige academic and financial success if they attend only to leave many and crushing debt promises made by politicians uh to change their country oftentimes are left unmet leaving their citizens to suffer the consequences a couple promise to love each other for

better or worse however in this country unfortunately in the world the divorce rate is around 50% this highlights that broken promises can hurt deeply it can cause us pain and Disappointment and even a loss of trust and unfortunately it can cause us to even be weary of trusting those who care about us those who love us like our friends and family and if we're not careful it can even cause us to lose trust in Jehovah so if we feel that we need our or we think we need our trust in Jehovah needs a boost this

part will be of great benefit to us yes by looking at an example of a promise that Jehovah had Given long ago uh we can see Jehovah's perfect track record of honesty and it will help us to build trust in our heavenly father so in order to look at such a promise let's turn to our first scripture in Genesis 15 and we'll consider Verse 18 and as we look at this promise let's notice how Jehovah interacted with Abraham and his offspring and what we can learn as a result that's Genesis 15 and in verse 18

It says on that day Jehovah made with Abram a covenant saying to your Offspring I will give this land from the river of Egypt to the Great River the river Euphrates and so Jehovah he promised Abram or Abraham as he was later given the name that he would have Offspring as some scriptures mentioned as numerous as the stars of heaven and that they would inherit a Promised Land however a Jehovah he made this promise to Abraham and continued to repeat it to him throughout the Genesis account but not only did he do that as we

pick up in Psalm 105: 8-1 we see that Jehovah did something else that no doubt reassured his people and after we read this we'll look in at our picture it's at Psalm 105 verse 8- 11 it says he remembers his Covenant Forever The Promise he made to a Thousand Generations the Covenant he made with Abraham and the oath he swore to Isaac which he established as a decree to Jacob and a lasting Covenant to Israel saying I will give you the land of Canaan as an allotted inheritance so Jehovah not only repeated this promise to

Abraham but he did so to his offspring to Isaac to Jacob and the entire nation of Israel and thank you for that PR picture so really what a beautiful example Jehovah set and we Think about Jehovah um and his title as Sovereign of the universe Almighty a God who cannot lie Jehovah is not obligated to deal with us in the kind way that he does he could have simply said once and for all time this is the promise and I'm not going to repeat it in effect saying I told you once I'm not going to

tell you again but is Jehovah that way no he's loving he repeated This Promise time and again and no doubt this was reassuring to his people and this Reassurance definitely was needed when we consider the circumstances that Abraham and also his offspring were in uh during the time in which these promises were reiterated let's turn back to Psalm 105 and we'll consider now verse 12 and 13 and let's take note of the circumstances that Jehovah's people were in uh during this promise it says here in verse 12 this was when they were very few when

they Were few in number yes very few and they were foreigners in the land they walked about from Nation to Nation from one Kingdom to another people so this scripture reveals that when this promise was made um circumstances existed that maybe made the promise seem like it was unlik likely to be fulfilled if we think about Abraham's example when Jehovah promised him Offspring he was well along in years yes uh Sarah thought it was so unlikely To happen that she would have a child that she began to laugh at that decree and when we think

about the uh circumstances that the Israelites were in uh during a period of time they were slaves in Egypt being treated harshly so again time and again it may have seemed from a human perspective Ive that this promise was not going to come true but as we continue in Psalm 105 we see an everlasting truth about Jehovah's personality that's Psalm 105 we'll Consider verse 42 through 44 here it reads for he Jehovah remembered the holy promise he had made to Abraham his servant so he brought brought out his people with exaltation his chosen on on

with a joyful cry he gave them the lands of the Nations they inherited what other peoples had worked hard to produce yes despite all of these negative circumstances Jehovah never forgot the promise that he made to Abraham and repeat it to his offspring And as a result of fulfilling that promise did you notice there they were able to exalt they engaged in joyful crying yes they rejoiced as a result of Jehovah fulfilling these promises really what a beautiful thing now as we consider the circumstances of the Israelites what parallel and circumstances is there for us

today and what lessons can we learn well firstly just as Jehovah made promises to Abraham and his offsp offspring Jehovah makes Promises to us and just as was the case with them Jehovah lovingly repeats those promises to us in fact we can receive Jehovah's reassurance as much as we personally want or need by means of reading his word the Bible so how important it is that we maintain a regular schedule of reading God's word and coming to the meetings it's here that we are given that reassurance that we can build our trust in Jehovah and

continue to meditate on the things that Not only Jehovah has done for his people in the past but done for you personally another parallel we can see is the circumstances we live in uh during the time of the Israelites it may have seen that those seemed as if those promises wouldn't come true in our circumstances today uh we could begin to think the same thing we live in a world full of violence full of death sickness and really like political unrest it may seem unlikely or too good to be true that we Could ever live

in a paradise yet uh our third lesson is that Jehovah just as he never forgot the promise he made to Abraham and his offspring he does not forget the promises he has made to us as unlikely as it may seem from a human standpoint that these promises won't come true Jehovah is the fulfiller of promises and he will bring about all the things that he has promised for the future really what a beautiful promise that is promise of everlasting life in a Paradise Promises of being reunited with our dead loved ones a promise of life

without Satan's influence without sickness without death or any other causes of suffering our meeting work book offers a beautiful question of self-reflection saying how does Jehovah's trustworthy trust trustworthiness affect me how does it affect you because as we mentioned Jehovah has a perfect track record of fulfilling his promises May that fact Reassure us and motivate us to remain loyal to Jehovah to keep seeking first his kingdom confident that just as God fulfilled every promise in the past he will continue to fulfill every promise today and in the future thank you very much brother Bumpus Barnett

that was excellent so we can see how Jehovah's loyalty and faithfulness to Abraham affects us today now we'll give our attention to uh brother beam as he will uh chare our Spiritual gems looking forward to your comments on the 105th Psalm to start with we'll have brother Reit read Psalm 105 brother uh verses 17-9 brother reats please he sent ahead of him a man who was to be a slave to s be sold as a slave Joseph with feathers they bound his feet his neck was put in irons until the time that his word proved

true the saying of Jehovah is what refined him thank you so our question is how did the Saying of Jehovah refine Joseph start with sister McMillan the hardships that Jehovah allowed Joseph to endure refined him helping him develop essential qualities such as patience humility spiritual strength and determination so ultimately these trials made Joseph stronger and more valuable to Jehovah and who then he was able to be used in significant ways thank you sister beam And I just thought it was outstanding what what the Pharaoh even noticed um such a difference that he said Can another

man be found like this one in whom is the spirit of God so when we have our um personality refined by fire others will give glory to Jehovah nice sister guson um Joseph's example reminded me of Romans 53 where it says that tribulation produces endurance so we should Rejoice because of that so we can view our Trials as opportunities to grow stronger to see Jehovah's hand in Majestic ways so while Jehovah does not cause our trials he most surely can use them to finish our training so that we may be made firm and strong nice

let's move on to our next question question and you can incorporate your comments into this what spiritual gems from the week's reading would you like to share uh sister Bradley so a little bit more on um Joseph it's interesting that we had a video uh where they were in paradise and they were sitting around the table talking to Joseph and one of the ways it said that we can learn from the refinement of Joseph is when it comes to uh dealings with our brothers and sisters um it says that we need to be ready to

forgive not to dwell on the offense and ask Jehovah in prayer to help us to let go of the resentment good Suggestions sister here on the end in Psalm 105 verse4 this in this text we're exhorted to seek Jehovah this indicates that our relationship with Jehovah must be a priority in our lives this reminds us that even when we're faced with challenges we must always seek his D his guidance and his Direction first nice thank you our sister here and verse 11 is really another evidence of Jehovah's Universal Sovereignty because people still lived in the

land of Canaan when he said this but he would see to it that his promise would be fulfilled so Jehovah is always in control nice thank you uh sister Asia Watson we all have uh natural abilities that Jehovah has bless us with but Psalms 105:4 reminds me to always search for Jehovah's strength even when I feel strong why well I gathered three points um Jehovah's strength is inexhaustible When I do things in God's strength it's always used for good and turns out right and then third and most importantly it keeps me humble acknowledging Jehovah's saving

power and right to help and guide me nice thank you sister 12o I really appreciated how it was expressed in verse four to seek Jehovah's face constantly and Jehovah doesn't just want us to pray to him on occasion he wants us to go to him Constantly for everything it it almost has to be a training of ourselves that whatever we Face we turn to Jehovah we want it to be automatic nice good suggestion brother guby I like Psalm 10524 it's a reminder of what Jehovah did for his people then it mentions there he made them

mightier than the adversaries so we think of what our brothers are facing in different lands we think of persecution but we can Know that with every legal Victory uh the Witnesses are still being given throughout the land so it gives us confidence in the future knowing that we will always be mightier than our adversaries because Jehovah will allow it thank you sister costek I thought verse 14 was very timely for today it says that he did not allow any man to oppress them but on their account he reproved Kings so I think this is strong

for us today Because Jehovah makes promises but it means that no matter what they cannot be undone so today we Face elections and that can be frightening but Jehovah says that he'll bring us relief and if he can reprove Kings by the touch of his finger then it doesn't really matter who wins or who loses because we know our King is the only lasting power excellent thank you like Gwen usually we never want to brag or boast because that could really make Other people sad but verse three tells us to boast about Jehovah's name if

we do that instead of making people sad we can help them to be happy by getting to know Jehovah great comment thank you brother Lopez I appreciated Psalm 105: 41 he opened a rock and Waters flowed out and it's interesting because this happened after the nation of Israel was prevented from entering the promised land and so that Shows the depth and the extent of Jehovah's loyal love that he still provided for his people even when they had already been prohibited from entering into the promised land thank you brother Roga in Psalm 105 verse 22 interesting

thought for elders and and specifically I was thinking there it talks about how Joseph had received authority over the princes of pharaoh and it says and to teach his Elders wisdom so here the Younger man is teaching the older ones and where did that come from the ability to do that well sister beam had mentioned earlier uh Genesis 41:38 it says can another man be found like this one in whom there is the spirit of God so in other words a lesson for all of us but the elders in particular meeting together in a room

Jehovah's Spirit can operate upon any individual regardless of the age and the wisdom very well could come from a younger brother that's A good lesson thank you sister CAG and I appreciate the reminder in verse two to ponder over Jehovah's wonderful works and another definition for that would be to um consider especially quietly soberly or deeply and our culture and world now doesn't allow for us to even soak up blessings we just are on to the next thing and moving and moving and moving so this was a good reminder to pause and think about and

Ponder and speak about the wonderful things Jo has done for us personally but also that we notice in creation it is a good reminder thank you sister Ward in verses uh 13- 44 uh we're reminded of how Jehovah's a protector and really Jehovah's protection covers Us physically mentally emotionally and spiritually and an example of his protection mentally and emotionally is an article how to maintain a positive Viewpoint because it really helps us to see ourselves through Jehovah's eyes very practical thank you and brother k um Psalms 105:25 it talks about Jehovah's adversaries or our adversaries

and Jehovah lets them hate his people it's interesting why would Jehovah let that happen why would Jehovah let them plot against us every time that happens Jehovah proves to us by his actions as We can see in the next five verses how um how he is in power and now he will save us so if we see something it's going the wrong way and and all of the sudden our adversaries are in front of us and they're plotting against us we could be sure that Jehovah is actually even behind that he let them do that

so that he could prove to us he's real thank you friends excellent comments thank you very much brother be and thank all of you for your fine Comments well at this time we can uh excuse those who are going to go to the second school and join brother Richard's back there I really appreciated uh brother Lopez's comment I lik Psalm 10541 it's kind of interesting there about how Moses or Jehovah let the water come out of the rock there for Moses if you can just picture there was 3 million about 3 Mill million Souls that

were there along with their animals and that Water went as a river through that arid land how could you not see Jehovah's hand really in uh providing for his people yeah it's a good really good verse well now we can uh get on to our Bible reading here in the main school and we'd like to invite brother Lopez up and he will read for us Psalm 105 24- 45 and that's Psalm 105 God made his people very fruitful he made them mightier than their Adversaries whose Hearts he let change to hate his people to plot

against his servants he sent his servant Moses and Aaron whom he had chosen they performed his signs among them his miracles in the land of ham he sent darkness and the land became dark they did not rebel against his words he changed their Waters into blood and killed their fish their land swarmed with frogs even in the Royal Chambers he ordered the gadflies to invade and Nets in all their Territories he turned their rain to hail and sent lightning on their land he struck their Vines and their fig trees and shattered the Trees of their

territory he said that the Locust should invade young locusts without number they devoured all the vegetation in the land and they devoured the produce of the ground then he struck down every firstborn in their land the beginning of their procreative power he brought his people out with silver and gold and no One among his tribes stumbled Egypt rejoiced when they left for the dread of Israel had fallen on them he spread a cloud to screen them off and a fire to give light by night they asked and he brought Quail he kept satisfying them with

bread from Heaven he opened a rock and Waters flowed out these flowed through the desert like a river for he remembered the holy promise he had made to Abraham his servant so he brought out his people with exaltation His chosen on with a joyful cry he gave them the lands of Nations they inherited what other peoples had worked hard to produce so that they would keep his decrees and observe his laws praise Jah thank you very much brother Lopez you were working on accurate reading and I believe that you did accurately read that uh those

Bible verses so uh how to do it in our our book it says to prepare well so we know that you gave a lot of Preparation to that you pronounced every word uh correctly and speak clearly is what you did um so look forward to your next part you did an excellent job now we'll uh turn our attention to um apply yourself to the field Ministry and our first uh students are Victoria bean and Seline gustofson and uh they'll be starting a conversation and their setting is the householder is busy let's pay Attention hello it's

illness war and natural disasters and a lot of times these issues cause humans to suffer wouldn't you agree yeah that's true well did you know that the Bible tells us how Mankind's problems will be solved no I didn't know that well if you have a Minute I can show it to you it's here in Psalm 3710 and 11 it says just a little while longer and the wicked will be no more you will look at where they were and they will not be there but the meek will possess the Earth and they will find Exquisite

Delight in the abundance of Peace so God is pro promising humans that in the future they will be be no more wickedness but an abundance of Peace isn't that encouraging yeah but don't you think Humans can do their part right now I mean our problems will be solved when everyone votes for the right candidate for presidency and you know who I'm talking about and they'll be the only one to solve our problems that we have right now oh I see that you're very um knowledgeable about our country's current political matters I commend you because many

people have given up entirely on finding a solution but the fact that you stay up to date uh shows That you're concerned how politics and government can affect you and your fellow citizens I sure am and you know what you should be out there voting too you talking about changes why don't you vote it's true that most or all of humankind are under some kind of um human government and a lot of you know a lot of people are aware for that reason that that might be the only way that that um you know to

improve the state of humankind but I want to thank you for Being concerned and for honestly sharing your thoughts with me maybe at another time I can tell you I can explain to you why I don't vote [Applause] okay thank you very much sisters how practical that was remaining mild and not insisting on making a point you did that very well well and uh knowing what to say when a person is heated is a a real talent and a true gift so we want to take the points that We learned from this lesson because we're

probably going to have to use them this weekend or this week I should say now let's give our attention to Sister Krueger and sister Janda and uh they're going to follow up offer a magazine on a topic that the person pre previously showed interested in so let's see how they hi B how are you oh hi nice to see you again okay Tracy if you didn't remember I didn't okay that's okay um you know we Had a great conversation last time and um we had kind of talked about mental health you were saying that was

really important to you you feel like globally um especially in this country you were saying that people really need to pay more attention to that part of their life true yes yeah and I know also you had mentioned that you know you had a family member that you really wanted to you know help kind of your family was looking to pay more attention you know To theirs in particular MH okay so I had found this journal and I feel like you'll really enjoy this it's called mental health help from the Bible so we kind of

want to look at you know how can the Bible help us with this topic let me just flip this over here we realized that it's a worldwide crisis really right and then it even talks about how God cares for us personally so mental health you know we think about that in the health sense but how does God feel about that what's his view on it so I want to leave that for you thank you so much yeah I appreciate that I'm I'm going to take a look at it and I'm going to share it with

my family too because I know a few members of the family could really use a little help okay and you how has everyone been um it it's a hard time right now okay yeah right you know there was something else that I was thinking about because I've you know Been here a few times and globally Jehovah's Witnesses offer a Bible study program and it's something we've been offering for decades we just don't ever want anybody to feel left out so we just felt like I I also want to extend it to you to make sure

that you know I didn't miss you when I offered to everybody else that I visit well that's very kind of you I'm not sure I'm ready for a Bible study okay all right well you know and there's some benefits to it you know I I know that um you know you look like you're getting ready to go out so I didn't want to take up too much time but um I have a video it's just over a minute do you think I could borrow one more minute of your time sure okay and so this video

talks about why study the Bible kind of the benefits to it so maybe I just show you that okay okay what did you think about that as far as like you know maybe like the beneficial side it's it's quite Interesting and I I can see how the Practical value of of it but again I'm not sure that I'm ready to commit to something like that it's it would takes some time okay perfect you know I'm glad that you know you give me your thoughts and I just like I said I wanted to put that out

seems like there's a there's no way to find it right now but you said you were one of Jehovah's Witnesses last time but I always see you smiling and you seem pretty peaceful well as a witness we always try to have a positive outlook in our lives and what helps is that we get those answers from the Bible in fact I believe one of those answers for your question Is ring on there nice how do you really get that well let me pull over and show you on the same app that I just used you

can look here there's a section where it answers that very same question as you can see here on question seven it says what does the Bible for tell about our day shows a lot of scriptures that answers your questions oh yeah I see that uh which scripture stands out the most to you um I guess I like that first one uh the nation will rise against Nation and Kingdom against Kingdom and that's the beginning of the Pains of Destruction us yeah doesn't that feel like exactly what we're currently experiencing right now totally and as you

can see the Bible is really beneficial for not just me but I think for you too have you ever thought of studying the Bible you know I offer free Bible lessons well I appreciate that I don't actually own a copy of the Bible though Well not to worry before I drop you off I can show you how to download the J Library app and we have it in over a thousand languages so that's pretty neat and you can also see there there's a lot of videos and it talks about maybe some topics that you'd probably

be interested in that sounds pretty cool and I appreciate it and yeah I'll take a look at it and can you uh tell me what that song was again and who sings it oh yeah of course well let's get you on your Way everybody's GNA try to imitate you now brother suti that's that's great using the original songs to start a informal conversation perfect so and also you you uh demonstrated as you were working on there how you can uh show empathy and uh and demonstrate how you can find answers in our JW Library app

to help help someone out in a practical way so excellent job look forward to your next part so now let's uh transition to our Living as Christians and we can do that by standing and singing song number 84 and that's song 84 reaching out have aart expressions of your love so let's pay attention to brother Ellison with expressions of Your Love who are you willing to spend more money on your friend or a stranger your spouse or your neighbor your pet or your neighbor's Pet see the answer is obvious isn't it because of one word

love when we love someone or something we automatically want to express that to them don't we notice how Jesus touched on that on the last night of his uh life here on this Earth John chapter 14 and verse 23 perhaps we could get a reader for that um Mercy please In answer Jesus said to him if anyone loves me he observe my word and my father will love him and he will come to him and make our dwelling with him thank you yeah so when we love Jesus we automatically want to express that through using

our time our energy our financial resources to support his kingdom interest but the greatest friend um or we observe that word by doing that but some people today when you donate to a a certain Cause many times they have no idea where those funds are going to be going but through our article series uh in the jw.org article series how your donations are used uh we get clear Direction on exactly how your expressions of Love are used if you're able to click on that you would see that there's 32 different articles under that series uh

that we could look at to see uh different ways that our branch has used those funds U why is That important because if we could pull up our picture for this article that we're going through of our little contribution box now now that's how I normally used to do that growing up had money in my pocket and You' put that in the Box uh but nowadays uh we do that electronically most of us do and so some of us have that on autopay every month which is Good but sometimes we could when we do that

we lose the joy of knowing what our funds are covering because we don't think about it it's done automatically and so when we have Parts like this it's nice to be able to think about how you have an active part in sharing with our brothers worldwide we have a video and as we go through that video notice some of the ways that your funds are being used to help our Brothers and sisters uh earthwide and then we'll have some questions that follow please watch [Music] Jehovah appreciates the effort made by his worshippers each day to

show their love for his son Jesus in his statement recorded at John 14:23 Jesus himself made this point clear if anyone loves me he will observe my word and my father will love him it is truly beautiful to observe how you Have embraced the word you are tirelessly devoting time and physical power to advance the work of preaching about the kingdom as loyal friends of Jesus and Jehovah you have also shown steadfast support for the kingdom through your monetary donations within your means you have given generously Jehovah highly esteems these powerful gifts which are expressions

of love for what his son is Doing the brothers of the governing body have asked me to express their deep appreciation for the love you have shown we want to reassure you your donations have a powerful impact since June 2020 the article series how your donations are used has chronicled this power each one tells a story highlighting how donations are being used to further the kingdom work have you ever wondered what happened after the article was published in the following video notice How your donations continue to have a powerful [Music] effect after an indigenous Community

oppos the freedom of of worship of our brothers in Ecuador the Constitutional Court heard a court case regarding this fundamental issue should the indigenous communities respect international human rights the court accepted our reasoning and decided yes with a loving support through the Donations from our Brotherhood and Jehovah's blessing on this issue the Court ruling is available and has already been used for legal argument in other similar cases and in other parts of the world this court decision was a great victory for our brothers and sisters around the world but if we think about the community

where the opposition arose we can see encouraging progress the community was surprised by the size of The organization behind the small group of local Publishers the more the community got to know Jehovah's Witnesses the more they respected and valued us now instead of experiencing opposition our brothers enjoy a peaceful relationship with the community for example the congregation of 53 Publishers enjoyed a memorial attendance of 106 in 2024 due to tremendous growth Africa has About the same need for new kingdom halls and mejor inovations as all other continents combined the cost of construction in Africa continues

to be a challenge in Tanzania for example where about 25 million tanzanians live on less than $2 a day building a new Kingdom Hall can cost over $50,000 thanks to the donations of local Publishers along with those from the global Brotherhood Publishers are able to enjoy new and renovated Kingdom Halls In all parts of the world here in mainger we benefited from a renovation on our Kingdom Hall it is a place of worship that is respectable now we even get the videos easily truly it has given a very good witness in the community and attracted

many to the meetings we thank Jehovah for this provision of support through our worldwide Brotherhood translating the Bible takes many years Therefore it requires thousands of hours of work by the translators through the donations made by the brothers and sisters we use a translation tool developed by the organization this tool helps us to translate the Bible in a clear and understandable way in certain remote areas access to the Bible is a big challenge in TBE for example a congregation had only one Bible to share among all the Publishers and that translation of the Bible was

Difficult to understand after the release of the kiluba new world translation of the Holy scriptures in 2018 we had an increase of more than 20% of Publishers in just one year it is clear that the word of God in kuuba has had a big impact on our brothers and sisters we are confident that seeing the impact of your donations strengthens your faith but what if you have little materially perhaps you wish you could Give more if that is how you feel remember what the Bible says about our gifts to Jehovah it is especially acceptable according

to what a person has not according to what a person does not have your generosity with what you have is what shows how much you love the Christ and rest assured your ations are meaningful appreciated and they have power it is our prayer that you will continue to see the power that your love Of the Christ has on your brothers thank you for all you have done and will continue to [Applause] do we look forward to your Expressions so so our first question is how has the use of donated funds to defend religious freedom benefited

our brothers sister Marte please they were able to get their rights upheld by the Constitutional Court in Ecuador so much so that they Have peaceful relations now very good brother Bradley and that was so encouraging because when you look at the brothers uh who were being uh have their work restricted by this indigenous group and they admitted after they were received their necessary legal help how they marveled at the size of the organization behind such a small small group and so it was nice to see that even others recognize that Jehovah's people We band together

we defend and help one another and Jehovah was even able to use that ruling to assist others in different parts of the world so it really shows the strength behind uh uh donations how they help us worldwide very good did anybody notice the memorial attendance how did how was that affected there in that video in that Community uh sister Smith please in the back where was it the congregation of 53 they had 106 at the memorial so that's Doubled that's that really helped the area widen out as far as their favorability towards the witnesses very

good a big change there wasn't it our second question actually has a scripture so maybe somebody would like to look up 2 Corinthians 8:14 for us and who would like to read that uh sister Campbell please up front here hold that hand up high Amanda but that by means of an Equalizing your Surplus at the present time might offset their need so that their Surplus might also offset your deficiency that there may be an equalizing thank you so how has an equalizing of funds assisted in the construction of kingdom halls uh brother Jung please we

saw the example in Tanzania where our brothers make $2 a month I think it was $50,000 to build a Kingdom Hall so the equalizing of funds and Helping out those parts of Africa allow them to have new kingdom halls where there is incredible growth yeah thank you uh sister Medina thank you and so the equalizing of funds usually comes from countries like the United States and we know that at times we wish we can give more and uh got some information on how many pennies go missing each year here in the United States and it's

estimated about $62 Million worth of pennies are wasted or people see them as of little value so the next time we feel that our contribution is too small we can think of maybe other thousands of witnesses who can contribute a penny and make it worthwhile hey thank you for that illustration with that uh brother Costa check please and this is just a beautiful synopsis of how this organization is built on love a lot of property Developers will not build a property if that is not making money and that is not the case for Jehovah's Witnesses

in fact the equalizing it doesn't make sense on paper but it makes sense because it's built on love and that's what we get to see around the whole world hey thank you for tying our theme in in with that sister Lopez please and I also appreciated they had a special spot in the video where they showed the satellite um and so our Brothers over there not only benefit by a beautiful Center of worship in their territory but they also have our upto-date um videos and our upto-date spiritual food and so that's the great equalizer that

no matter where you live in the world Jehovah makees sure you have what you need but does he ever let's move on to our last question uh what benefits have come from using donated funds to support the work of translating the Bible into many languages uh sister Turner please quite a few years ago the organization realized the benefit or or the need to translate into uh people's mother tongue because only then will the Bible's message touch their hearts very nice expression brother augustas please several several thousand hours have to be gone through in order to

translate the Bible well that several thousand hours is several thousand hours Worth of humans living which means you need places you need fuel you need electricity you need food all these different things to help those humans do that translating and that turns into money so uh the donations can help to be able to facilitate the human's life that's needed to be able to get that translation done yeah thank you what was the percentage of growth do you remember hearing that once that language had their own Bible sister beam please I think they said over 20%

yeah over 20% thank you brother so much for your comments with that if you notice our article ends up with a little box on the bottom learn more online it would be a good time while this is fresh in our mind to go over this uh there's a little uh part of thing you can click on there it says donations and that takes you to a page that uh actually tells you many different ways that we can contribute so that we can continue to show our Expressions of love for Jesus and the Awesome Kingdom that

he has in store thank you so much brother Ellison and all your friends for your fine comments on that part and uh expressions of love doesn't it build our confidence in Jehovah's organization how different it is in the world well now we're going to catch up with the Apostle Paul in thessalonica and we're going to give our attention to brother McMillan as he conducts this and brother Norton as his reader for the past couple of weeks we've been going through and reviewing the first uh 12 vers 12 paragraphs of chapter 177 of our publication bearing

thorough witness about God's kingdom and uh coincidentally chapter 16 or chapter 17 of Acts is the uh verses that we're covering we've covered so far uh verses uh 1-9 and we're going to be continuing on this evening with a portions in 8 and n and also uh verses Uh 10- 15 as we've been learning that Paul Paul in his travels to Philippi and then to thessalonica sometimes received favorable and sometimes unfavorable treatment some listened to the good news and became Believers and others did not when we think about when we're going to do something Isn't

it nice that we're able to observe somebody else that does it before we do well Paul's an excellent example in his companions of how we can Preach the good news of God's kingdom and aren't we grateful that Jehovah has provided through his written word example like such as Paul and others that we can look at and imitate in how they performed their commission to preach the good news just like we are today so as we think about and reflect about as we're going to discuss this evening of what took place in thessalonica and Bia we

can certainly uh reflect upon how lessons that we can Learn from Paul on preaching we're going to begin with our uh first two paragraphs paragraph 13 and 14 we'll have brother Norton read those for us the mob failed to put a stop to the preaching work in thessalonica why for one thing Paul and Silas could not be found furthermore the city rulers were evidently not convinced of the truthfulness of the charges after Requiring sufficient security perhaps in the form of bail they released Jason and the other brothers who had been brought before them following jesus'

counsel to be cautious as serpants and yet innocent as doves Paul prudently kept out of Harm's Way so that he could continue preaching elsewhere clearly the boldness that Paul mustered up did not mean recklessness how can Christians today follow his Example in modern times the clergy of Christendom have often incited mobs against Jehovah's Witnesses with cries of sedition and treason they have manipulated rulers to act against the witnesses like those first century persecutors modern-day opposers are driven by jealousy at any rate true Christians do not Court trouble we avoid confrontations with such angry unreasonable people

whenever possible seeking rather to continue our work in Peace perhaps returning later when things have calmed down so our a question why did the mob fail in its attack okay brother here on the aisle for one Paul and Silas cannot be found and the city rulers were not convinced of the truthfulness of the charges thank you very much any other thoughts okay we move on to our B question how did Paul demonstrate Christlike caution and how can we imitate his example okay sister R please when I think of Paul I see a man who knew

how to read the room before he spoke and people often think that being bold and courageous means being loud and outspoken ready to defend at any moment but sometimes the greatest courage is in staying quiet and measured and Paul knew how to defend the truth and teach but he did it with caution and discretion Ensuring that he could keep spreading Jehovah's message and it's a really good example to follow especially now when people are feeling so passionate about their views I just need to remember to proceed with caution yes very true okay sister uh leaw

please and so he was really following that example um in Matthew 10:16 about being cautious as serpants and innocent as doves and um we show caution by Recognizing dangers early and we remain Innocent by not letting them lead us to compromise excellent very good and brother Ramirez and how grateful we are that uh Jehovah has provided the faithful discreet slave for us to be able to give us the instruction that we need we think about this evening we had a demonstration of somebody getting angry at the door or somebody expressing their political views again good

training for us to have Like it was mentioned already for this week and the things that we're going through right now to be able to put that into practice as well thank you very much and uh sister basil please me need to avoid convers confrontations and like almost like fighting but with such anger that was is happening in the system so there's so many unreasonable people and and not possible by sing rather to continue our Work but you see returning later with things have calmed down okay excellent point and brother lafy please remember when I

was a little boy talking to some Old-Timers in the congregation and they'd gone through when there was mob action right here in this country and uh they didn't exactly know how to handle it and so they were so thankful for the organization said that if you're looking down the street and there's a mob forming you can cross The street you haven't lost your faith and so this uh example of the Apostle Paul he was certainly someone that was courageous and bold but he was not Reckless with his life he used it to the best in

preaching to those that he could excellent very good point and brother maresi please just uh thinking of a personal experience I had a few years back uh we work in a street and the woman came to the door and she was visibly upset mad That we were there so we quickly left and just continued on our way and went away and I kept thinking about her so later on that afternoon she actually got in her car and came and found us and apologized and said listen we just had a tragedy this had happened that had

happened happened and she was happy to sit down later and talk to us so we were we were kind when we left quickly because I think it was the right time to do that but she gave us another Opportunity to come back so very nice thank you for that experience well let's move on to our next uh section it's under the subheading they were more noble-minded and we're going to have sister Mullan read for us the verses there in 17 and: 10-15 go ahead sister mhan immediately By Night the brothers sent both Paul and silus

to Berea on arriving they went into the synagogue of The Jews now these were more noble-minded than those in thessalonica for they accepted the word with the greatest eagerness of Mind carefully Examining the Scriptures Daily to see whether these things were so therefore many of them became Believers and so did quite a few of the reputable Greek women as well as some of the men but when the Jews from thessalonica learned that the word of God was also being proclaimed by Paul in Bia they came there to incite and agitate the crowds then the brothers

immediately sent Paul away to the sea but both Silas and Timothy remained behind there however those accompanying Paul brought him as far as Athens and they departed after receiving instructions that Silas and Timothy should come to Paul as quickly as Possible thank you very much sister Mahan now before we begin our discussion of these verses we're going to have brother Norton read for us paragraph 15 for safety's sake Paul and Silas were sent to Bia about 40 miles away upon arriving there Paul went to the synagogue and spoke to those assembled what a delight to

find a receptive audience Luke wrote that the Jews of Berea were more noble minded than those in thessalonica for they accepted the Word with the greatest eagerness of Mind carefully Examining the Scriptures Daily to see whether these things were so did those words reflect unfavorably on the ones in thessalonica who had embraced the truth not at all Paul later wrote to them we also thank God unceasingly because when you received God's word which you heard from us you accepted it not as the word of men but just just as it truthfully is as the word

of God which is also at work in you Believers What though made those Jews and Berea so noble-minded how did the bereans respond to the good news okay sister here on the left they accepted the word with the greatest eagerness thank you so much and let me see sister is that sister gson we have an interesting study note on act 1711 when talking about the bereans it said that they carefully examine the scriptures and the study Note says that this phrase is sometimes used in the sense of conducting a Judicial hearing so in the context

of the bereans it conveys the idea of doing careful and exact research as in a legal process so they carefully open the scriptures and examined them to confirm to see whether or not what Paul and Silas were teaching about Jesus as a promised Messiah were true excellent okay and also sister G and it's nice to the difference that They that these Jews of Bria had their mindset was completely different from those in thessalonica not only did um Paul have success here with the Jews but he also has success with the Greeks we know that that

was the issue in Thessalon of the Jews became jealous that Paul was having such a success with the Greeks but here these Jews these bans did not stand in the way of the Greeks learning but together they all made it um a habit daily to examine the Scriptures to find out whether these things were so excellent and sister um go ahead sorry Layman sister Layman thank you it's an interesting lesson we can learn from this because Paul could have been easily discouraged and not not have had this blessing if he stopped but Jehovah blessed him

and for that he gave Jehovah credit he said we thank God unceasingly so whenever we feel Discouraged and want to stop we should remember this example because Jehovah will always give us a blessing afterwards thank you very much very important to remember okay so let's move on then to our next paragraph paragraph 16 though the bereans were hearing something new they were not suspicious or harshly critical neither were they gullible first they listened carefully to what Paul had to say then they Verified what they had learned by turning to the scriptures which Paul had opened

up to their understanding moreover they did diligently studied the word of God not just on the Sabbath but daily and they did so with great eagerness of mind devoting them M themselves to finding out what the scriptures revealed in light of this new teaching then they proved humble enough to make changes for many of them became Believers no wonder Luke describes them As noble-minded thank you so now uh the question we have is why are the bereans fittingly described as noble-minded we'd like to go to our Zoom to call our brother Rice please yes those

bereans were very good people they were no but in other words they didn't um just take things for granted they weren't gullible so to speak but they wanted to make sure that what Paul said was the truth and so first they listened carefully to what Paul said and then they proved what he was saying from the Bible and that strengthened their faith and made them become True Believers in the Bible and in what Paul himself was speaking thank you brother Rice and uh sister Rodriguez please and I found it interesting that it said they didn't

wait until the Sabbath to study God's word but they did so daily and we know know nowadays we have easy access to the scriptures but In those times they wouldn't have had that so we see that it took them sacrificing their time to go to travel to be there and to dedicate time to studying God's word thank you very much and brother hash please this reminds me of the uh love people brochure it says that when honeste hearted people hear the truth they recognize it and that's what happened here they heard the truth they weren't

gullible they verified it but Then they were willing to humbly accept it very nice excellent point and sister Ward please and you see they had a really good balance of all of their good qualities I like how the beginning of the paragraph says that they were hearing something new but they weren't suspicious or harshly critical as a lot of the Jews were when they heard this message um but then as was already mentioned they also were not gullible And then again they also even had uh humility and so with the right balance of all those

qualities they were um basically perfect soil for this new truth very very true and uh sister colbrook please and we see that the purpose of their study they were not just interested in acquiring a headful of knowledge but they also were willing to make the needed changes in their lives in order to conform with Jehovah's Requirements yes very true makes me think of Paul's words about God's will is that everyone take in accurate knowledge of the truth and they certainly were doing that they wanted to take in accurate knowledge very nice appreciate all those fine

comments let's move on now to paragraph 17 little did those bereans realize that the record of their reaction to the good news would be preserved in God's word as A shining example of spiritual noble-minded they did precisely what Paul had hoped they would do and what Jehovah God wanted them to do likewise it is what we encourage people to do to examine the Bible carefully so that their faith is solidly based on God's word after we become Believers though does the need to be noble-minded come to an end on the contrary it becomes ever more

important that we be eager to learn from Jehovah and quick to apply his Teachings in that way we allow Jehovah to mold us and train us according to his will we thus remain useful and fully pleasing to our Heavenly Father so our question paragraph 17 why is the example of the Berean so commendable and how can we continue to imitate it long after becoming Believers sister Lopez please what they did was incredible they recognized The Ring Of Truth and they immediately went into God's Word to prove to themselves that it was the truth and daily

which is something we can imitate too reading God's word every day and we want to go at it with the same eagerness of mind that we had in the beginning that'll help us to keep drawing closer to Jehovah and grow our faith so it's firmly based on biblical fact yes very true and uh sister Winslow on zoom and the uh example of the bereans and what was written about them came to Be of great Advantage for Jehovah's uh people today the organization followed that pattern in in being teachers and teaching us to be teachers after

we learned the truth in that uh those of us that learned the truth when we were adults when someone came to our door perhaps or even children being raised in the truth were followed the same pattern that's recorded there about the bereans it may have sounded wonderful to us when the witnesses said to us at the door There's going to be a paradise Earth or the uh the end of the system is coming um you could live forever on the earth uh that sounded great to us but then we had to accept the help that

was offered and dig deeper and find and prove that to us be noble-minded and search the scriptures to make sure it was true yes very good thank you and sister Farine please and a lot of us made big changes when we got baptized but it doesn't end there as Isaiah 648 brings out that we Are the clay and Jehovah's the Potter so even though we might have felt like a new person when we got baptized that was just the beginning and we aren't the finished product until Jehovah says so very true excellent and um sister

here on the aisle this is such a good reminder for us because human nature is to sort of form a habit and then we're good to go um we don't necessarily re revisit that thing that we're in the habit of doing But the slave also sets such a great example for us and um how they keep refining uh everything like they they went back and revised the Bible in 2013 we got and now the study Bible and continues to have new info added new books um new footnotes it's such an incredible resource for us and

I mean how many how many of us have gone back and and gone through all those so we have we have work to do very good very true all right let's see brother Tong Please uh this paragraph helps us to see um no matter how long we've been in the truth we have to uh do three things constantly as um the as them the first one they did was they listened so we need to listen to Jehovah by uh reading his word the Bible they verified and so we need to verify or dig deeper into

scripture to strengthen our faith and they make changes and we can do that by looking in Ourself or even the counsel from others and see what we can um do better in our personality yes very very true and sister gon please and that last sentence is very good it says we thus remain useful to our Heavenly Father um the bans didn't know that their example was going to be recorded in the Bible like the paragraph mentions but that shiny example gives us something to follow now so when we uh LifeWise do with they did and

keep up With our personal study and uh deep knowledge of the of God's word we become an example for others to watch and they see us develop those qualities and they have something to imitate as well yes and sister here on the P behind you so too when we um talk to others we want to make sure that we always um share the Bible with them uh in that way it'll encourage them to um examine you know for themselves we also want want to you know help them to see help them um Make use of

the website and different tools that we have so that they too can learn at an early stage to examine the word um for themselves and in that way we're setting an example for them as well perfect very nice and the sister right hand here in the front I thought how nicely this paragraph really ties into our Bible reading um this week and looking at Psalm 10 five and talking about Joseph and how the word of Jehovah was Refining um meth um what was used to refine him and that hasn't changed it was true for Joseph

it was true for the bereans it's true for us when we look into Jehovah's word we have to be quick to apply the teachings and um then we can be used by him thank you very much we're going to move on now to our last uh two paragraphs we'll have paragraph 18 and 19 read Paul Paul did not stay in Berea for long we read when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the word of God was also being proclaimed by Paul and Berea they came there to incite and agitate the crowds then the brothers immediately

sent Paul away to the sea but both Silas and Timothy remained behind there however those accompanying Paul brought him as far as Athens and they departed after receiving instructions that Silas and Timothy should come to Paul as quickly as possible how persistent those enemies of The good news were it was not enough to chase Paul out of thessalonica they traveled to Berea and tried to stir up the same sort of trouble there all to no avail Paul knew that his territory was vast he simply moved on to preach elsewhere may we today prove equally determined

to frustrate the efforts of those who want to stop the preaching work having born thorough witness to the Jews in thessalonica and Berea Paul had surely learned much about the importance Of witnessing with boldness and reasoning from the scriptures we have to now though Paul was to face a different audience the Gentiles of Athens how would he fare in that City in the next chapter we will see so our question or E question on paragraph 18 and 19 why did Paul leave Berea yet how did he show perseverance that is worthy of imitation okay so

I see sister frish please oh sorry is that sister Albright Okay sorry you couldn't see behind um Paul's enemies didn't stop when he left thessalonica they traveled um to Berea when they found out he was preaching there so um they tried to stir up the crowd like they did before and so he had to leave okay very good thank you all right and sister over here on the right so um Paul set a good example for us uh if we find that we're in a situation where there's opposition we can just move on to another

place just Like um Paul did he didn't he he he didn't give up at that point but he moved on to another area to preach very nice excellent and sister you see the sister here in the center right there behind and there's nothing wrong with moving on because um some of our brothers even in um war war torn places have moved on and they've taken the good news with them everywhere they go oh very nice excellent appreciate that and Sister Ward please and we we might be disappointed thinking oh they they succeeded in in running

Paul out of thessalonica and they succeeded again in running him out of Berea but um the interesting is thing is that they didn't succeed until Paul had spread the news so um he did accomplish already what he set out to do so that he it was okay to move on at that point yes very good and brother hudon it's always harder to hit a moving Target but uh Paul showed more perseverance than his opposers had and like as was mentioned it spread the truth wherever he was pushed to and it's so nice for us and

the times that we're going to face whether it's direct persecution or ban that we can be the same Christlike caution as Paul being bold but not Reckless very true yes and brother Roga please I think it's interesting too of what the brothers did in this situation Because when in thessalonica when he was being ready to be attacked um that in verse 10 it says they immediately got him out and then in verse 14 in Berea the same thing the brothers again verse 14 they immediately sent Paul on his way interesting as to what we might

be asked to do someday in the future in order to protect someone that Jehovah is using very good point that's very true okay sister in the very back row there and also seeing how Paul handled the Situation can help us in our ministry just Discerning people's attitudes obviously the Jews that came from thessalonica there was no interest there was no possible way that they wanted to learn more about the truth their purpose to come was to incite and agitate so that can also help us when we're talking to people sometimes people they're not glal they

do want to converse but what's their intention is their intention to just um argue or do they actually want To no more very true very nice and sister kich please and we know that what Paul did was out of love for people and for Jehovah so for us we might have a bad experience at the door but because our love for Jehovah and for people we keep on going because that's what's going to make the better witness very true in fact Paul we know went back to many of these cities again after he um had

an opportunity to visit other areas so Despite the fact that some of the places he went back to he knew what uh that maybe they had been uh opposing to him so excellent example we appreciate all those comments Rel to Paul's perseverance uh also here the B question as whom was Paul to address next and where all right sister uh fiser please well the verse says they went by sea as far as Athens so was an entirely different audience they would now be preaching to non-jews the Gentiles there But no doubt they'd continue on in

faith yes very good excellent all right sister hope basil please and um having a born through witness to the Jews this Nan and Bia Paul has sh really learned that there's so much of that importance of winess s with bonus so um he also was reading with the scriptures as well very nice well we appreciate everyone's excellent comments and your perseverance uh keeping your hands raised and tried to Call as many as possible we certainly benefited greatly from reviewing this account here in chapter 17 of Acts and also in our chapter 17 of our be

thorough witness publication as we consider about what lessons can we take away from what we learned from Paul's example in preaching we definitely see that Paul basically relied upon Jehovah he uh showed uh courage and demonstrated boldness yet he was not Reckless and we uh certainly uh see also that he loved People and he wanted them to uh hear the good news and certainly that bre great brought him great joy and of course Jehovah as well so we look forward to our next week and continuing on with uh where Paul goes next there to Athens

and so we look forward to that as well now we'll turn our attention back over to brother the ciis thank you very much brother McMillan and brother Norton for helping us go over that information and all of Your fine comments that we know now how to be bold and not Reckless how important so why was it so important for you to be here at the meeting this evening you think about it two reasons confidence and Trust confidence and trust in Jehovah Our God Psalm 105 didn't that paint the picture the abrahamic Covenant we went all

the way down through that Jehovah was trustworthy he fulfilled his promise To Abraham even though the nation of Israel at times made it difficult for him to do so but he fulfilled his promise he was trustworthy and confidence and Trust in Jehovah's organization you know it it is one thing in this world to trust your money with somebody right but we trust our money with Jehovah's organization do we not and we saw that in our in our part tonight and so when we have confidence and trust in Jehovah his Organization then we can be bold

in our ministry can't we so we had those nice demonstrations and our apply yourself uh to the field Ministry and interestingly enough they were all new students to our congregation isn't that nice they did such a fine job here uh we'll give them a hand thank thank you [Applause] for thank you for being a part of our congregation um now we have our Branch announcements for uh November 2024 for All congregations number one sing out joyfully to Jehovah lyrics only bra Braille Volume 2 to assist blind Publishers in locating the lyrics for the original songs
