So, let's properly dig into the content club course. This entire first section is all about how to build a strategy that is right for you because everybody's strategy is going to be slightly different depending on your goals, your strengths, your value, what type of creator you are, who your audience is, what kind of content you create. It's going to be slightly different for everybody.
So the purpose of this section is to help guide you through so you can put together the right strategy that is based on your goals and what you want to achieve. The word strategy can scare a lot of people. It can sound quite complex or even quite calculated.
A lot of people think, "Oh, having a strategy will take the fun out of content creation. " I think it's the opposite. When you have a strategy and a plan, it acts as the backbone as the foundation to your content.
And it gives you the ability to be creative and have fun with your content because you know that there's a plan behind it. Without a strategy, what you're essentially doing is posting and praying. You're hoping that maybe something takes off and eventually, if you're posting consistently enough, you'll maybe get a viral video, but without a strategy, you won't know why that went viral.
You won't be able to replicate it. You won't get long-term results. So, a strategy somewhat gives you consistency and a bit of control over the results that you get and a bit of direction in terms of your goals.
And really, what a strategy is at the end of the day is just a plan. It is a plan that takes you from where you are now to where you want to be. It's made up of multiple different things like your personal brand, your target audience, your content pillars, your content mix.
I will guide you through them in each of those mod each of the modules in this section. But it is the plan that takes you from A to B. That is what a strategy is.
And this first section of the strategy builder is going to be all about personal brand. But before I want to get in before I get into this, I want to talk about your goal. So real realistically if you are putting together a strategy that is taking you from where you are now to where you want to be you kind of need to know where you want to be even just roughly.
So really have a think okay what is the end goal with my content here. Some people will know instinctively. So maybe you are a small business that wants to generate sales of your product.
Maybe you are a coach who wants leads for your coaching program. Maybe you are an artist who wants to gain more fans or a following for your art. Maybe you're an author who wants to drive sales of your book.
Maybe you're a creator who wants to become an influencer, work with brands. Did I already say that? But everybody's goal is going to be slightly different.
You're not focusing on the vanity metrics of I want 10,000 followers. I want a million followers. I want XY Z in terms of numbers.
What is the end goal with your content? Like I said, some people will know, some people won't know. They've maybe just started creating content and they're like, "This is fun and I want to see where it goes.
" Even just a rough idea of your goal is kind of needed because your strategy is built around that. So, this might require taking a bit of a step back from your account and really thinking about that, but have a goal in mind. Okay.
So, now that we've established what a strategy is, we're going to get into the first part of your strategy, which is your personal brand. I say this in basically every module. You'll see this as I go through this course, but this is do not skip this.
This is a really, really important um section. Um what we're going to cover in here is why personal brand is so important, how it's the only true differentiator when it comes to your content. We're going to talk about the key elements that make up a personal brand and we're going to talk about how to communicate that through your content.
And then we'll finish by talking about your why, the reason behind your account, which kind of relates to the goal um that I was just talking about. So you are the only you that ever you. So content creation is very oversaturated.
Every single niche on the planet is very very oversaturated. The only way to stand out is to have a strong personal brand because anybody can make the same videos as you, talk about the same topics, use the same hooks, use the same editing style. Your personal brand is the only thing that will set you apart.
And also at the end of the day, people follow people. About 10 years ago, when the creator to consumer ratio was slightly different, there were less um creators, the same amount of consumers, the competition was slightly lower. If you were making content like how to do this, three tips for this, very informational content, you would gain followers.
But now information on its own isn't enough anymore. People want a personal lens because people can get information anywhere. They can get it from search engines.
They can get it from their friends, their family members, they can get it from AI. So on its own, it's not enough. You need a personal brand to go with it.
It is your most valuable asset as a content creator because as well as this, right, people follow people. So this means that if your content changes over time, which it probably will. Everybody's content kind of changes and evolves.
When your personal brand is strong enough, it gives you the ability to pivot and change your content because people are not just following for your content and your information. They're following you for you. You develop that strong parasocial relationship with your audience where people feel like they know you.
They're invested in you. Your audience, people tend to convert better. They're buying what you're selling.
It kind of strengthens everything you do. But really at its core, it's the main way to set yourself apart. Because let's say there's another content coach exactly like me posting the exact same information, posting a video on three Tik Tok growth hacks, for example.
We can be giving the exact same information, but the one of us that has the more distinct style, sense of humor, or a really strong viewpoint is the one that people remember, feel more connected to, and then follow as a result of that. So, it's the only thing that sets you apart. So, now we'll talk about the elements that make up a personal brand.
Um, my face is covering this first one here, but it is your oneliner. Um, then we have your personality, your sense of humor, your opinions on things, your morals and your values, and then your voice and your style. I'm going to go through these individually and explain a bit more about what I mean by them, but I do delve into these things in a bit more detail throughout the course.
So, we'll start with your oneliner, which is really your positioning. There is an entire module in this course all about positioning in itself because it's a really important part of this. But your positioning is really who you are, what value you offer, and why people should follow you.
And it should be able to be summarized in one single sentence. So you should be able to say, "My content is for specific target audience who want to achieve specific desire or result without specific struggle or specific roadblock. " In the positioning module, I go through this in a lot more detail, give you examples of this and show you how to come up with this one line because again, there will be people watching this who know instinctively what that is, but other people who are like, I have no idea where to start with this.
The positioning model module will take you through this. But that is one very key part of your personal brand is defining who you are and what your and who your content is for and what you post about. The next part of your personal brand is your personality.
And really, I would encourage you to ask other people how they perceive you. Um, because a lot of people, we kind of have this idea of ourselves, but it's not necessarily always how we come across to others. So, ask your partner, ask your friends, ask the people closest to you, ask your family.
How would they describe you in a couple of words? And what are your really standout traits? Um, what do people ask you for when it comes to like asking for help with things?
Um, how would how would like others refer to you in another setting? So really try and ask other people like how would you describe my personality cuz sometimes it matches with what you think but sometimes it doesn't. Then we have your sense of humor.
Humor is a language that everybody speaks and it is a really important part part of content. Um humor will make your content more engaging, more entertaining to watch and there's loads of different styles of humor whether it is high energy, silly humor, dry humor, witty, satirical, sarcastic. Um really think about what is your sense of humor.
Don't try and um be funny in a way that isn't natural to you. But again, ask other people. Um when it comes to my sense of humor, how would you describe that?
Because you do want to get that across in your content when you can. And you might be saying to yourself, well, I'm in a very serious niche where you know humor would make me look a lot less professional. I can guarantee you being showing your true personality will not under undermine your authority or professionalism and bringing that in your into your content will humanize you and bring it'll add trust as well.
So don't be afraid of adding humor even if you don't feel like that's a natural extension of your content. Then we have opinions. This is kind of the big one when it comes to personal brand.
One of the easiest ways to differentiate yourself and make yourself stand out and be memorable is by having really strong opinions. You will find it very hard to grow your your account and grow your community if you don't give opinions and stances on things. And these don't have to be like be like big political stances that really divide people.
It can be like, you know, I think drugstore mascaras are better than high-end ones. You just need opinions that you really, really stick by. But really think about what opinions do I have in my niche or my space that go against the grain.
What counter positions can I take? Because it's the counter positions that will make you really, really memorable to people. So like on my account, for example, I talk a lot of the time about how I don't help people go viral.
I don't think going viral is a good thing for your account. That's a stance that I take. Um, I'm very like pro- niche as well.
I take a lot of opinions in my community that kind of go against the grain, but it's what attracts the right people to my account. If you're trying to appeal to everybody, you will appeal to nobody. And we'll get more into detail on that in the target audience section.
But really ask yourself, what do I really believe in? What things really annoy me? Um, what am I very very passionate about?
And what opinions can I craft within my niche that I can make content about? because that's really what's going to set you apart as well in ter similarly are your morals and your values. What do you stand for?
What is important to you? What does your world view look like? Because you're trying to attract the right people to your account, not just the most amount of people.
You want people who are aligned with you. So getting really clear about those will strengthen your personal brand as well. And then in terms of more aesthetic things to do with your personal brand, your voice and your style.
So do you have a specific editing style? Um, do you have like a clear aesthetic or one that you kind of aspire to? Um, what kind of language do you use?
Is it informal? Do you use a lot of slang? Um, do you speak to a certain generation of people?
Um, that can embody that can be part of your personal brand as well. The more kind of aesthetic side of things. One of the main things about your personal brand is that it has to be embodied.
It cannot be stated. So, you can't just tell everybody in all of your videos, I'm a really funny, silly firsttime mom and you need to follow me for relatable, funny, first-time mom content. It has to come through in your content.
So, in terms of how to communicate this, there is another module further down the course called the magnet content method and it gives a very clear picture of how to communicate your personal brand through your content. But in terms of some tips for now, most of it is through consistency. So, if you have opinions, have those opinions consistently.
If you're sharing a side of your humor, share that consistently. If you have like a certain moral or value that you get across, convey that consistently. If it's a specific editing style, use that consistency.
It like even with the visuals, same colors, same editing, same text, uh, title styles on the screen as well because all of that builds familiarity. And when you become familiar to people, you start to become memorable. And people like things that feel familiar and safe and it makes them more likely not just to recognize you but to want to follow you because they feel like they know you.
The other way to do this is through micro storytelling. So whenever you instead of saying like I am funny, show it in the way that you tell stories. The other way is to show your face.
And a lot of people I know there will be people watching this who are faceless creators who maybe don't feel comfortable um with talking directly to camera. The most effective way to get your personal brand across really is by talking to camera. It's the easiest way to convey who you are because people don't get a sense of who you are just through what you say.
It's the way that you say it as well. It's the conviction that comes through your tone. So, it really is the best way to do it.
It's it doesn't mean it's impossible to get your personal brand across without talking to camera, but it does make it a little bit easier. Show the behind the scenes. Show the messy moments.
Let people into your world. kind of allow yourself to deepen that parasocial bond with your audience and really use emotion in your content as well. So instead of just giving people facts and information, talk about why these things matter to you personally, give anecdotes or stories as to why you're giving these tips or this advice or this information or why you're recommending this product.
Bring your personal experience into the content um as well because at the end of the day, value gets through through the door. So, giving a good recommendation, giving a good perspective shift, giving somebody a tip or a piece of advice or a lesson through your content, that'll get them through the door. But your voice and how you say it and your personal brand is what makes people stick around.
The other thing with regards to your personal brand is having a why. And this is really important. Um, so everybody needs a reason for starting their account.
I really do truly believe this because when you're creating content for a really long time, um even like if you've been creating content for like 6 months or so, you will know that you go through peaks and troughs. You will have phases where everything feels really fun and really easy and you're getting good results and then you will go through phases where everything is stale and stagnant and that is probably the phase at which you joined this course. So there will be ups and downs.
Having a reason for starting your account is the thing that anchors you. It's what keeps you creating in those times where it is challenging you can go back to that why. Um so really have a good purpose for starting your account and when you have that that comes through in your content.
So say for example you are a um baby sleep consultant and you really want to help um like breastfeeding moms get really good sleep routines with their babies because you went through that once and you're really passionate about helping other people. That can act as your why. And when you have that really strong why, that's going to come through in your content and it's going to really build that relationship with your audience as well.
So, it acts as your north star. It's kind of your mission statement. It is the anchor that will keep all of your content um and really kind of hold it together.
But it's the thing you come back to when content does feel a bit more like a struggle. And it can really play into that um oneliner that I mentioned before. when you have a clear why, it can help you fill out um that statement and make that a little bit stronger um as well.
So, in terms of exercises from this section, write down three words that you think describe your personal brand. So, talk to your family members, talk to your friends, ask them how they perceive you, how would you describe me, what do you think I'm best at, what do you think I'm really helpful with, um how would you describe my sense of humor? Try and pick down the three most consistent words that come up.
Drft that oneliner as best as you can. Go to the positioning section if you're like, "Oh, I really don't know what that is for me. " And then really try and record one video, at least one video this week where you really deliberately show your personality or your values or your opinions on something.
Not just giving people information. Really try and add some of who you are into your content. Even just one video this week to get used to starting to do that essentially.
