take our graduate Kiran in Hong Kong as an example who runs Osco this is Osco she saw a gap in the market for anti-pollution skincare living in a city that deals with horrible levels of air pollution her genius strap line is that her pollution defense serum and her anti-pollution mask let your skin breathe this is the perfect example of a problem driven Niche and she is an absolute Superstar particularly as she'd never formulated before she enrolled for our International organic skincare entrepreneur program all the way back in 2015 there's a great interview with Kiran on
our YouTube channel as well as on our Instagram that I encourage you to watch the second Niche that I want you to think about is the price driven Niche imagine competing in an affordable or very expensive price bracket this will immediately set you apart because you might be targeting a completely different customer who has different price needs look at our graduates Elsie and Dominica Who Run bybe Beauty in the UK they started in 2017 and have since raised over1 million Us in investment funding their formulations are now stocked in Sephora Target boots Holland and baret
and many other retailers as part of their mission to make sustainable skincare affordable to everyone and to build the world's first carbon negative Beauty brand I spoke to them recently and they told me that they're now manufacturing over 1 million units of skincare per year when they started with us they had no professional formulation knowledge and look at them now their skincare boxes take up a whole corner of this table it's so impressive what they've built next up is the ingredient driven Niche if you make your own formulations and you're passionate about formulating then you
have undoubtedly thought about designing your own range around ingredients that you love so many Beauty Brands have done this successfully with ingredients such as spinach or cannabis seaweed shea butter I'd like to introduce you to our graduate rashan who runs the glossery in the UK which is a superfood skincare brand rashan has developed a nutritious diet for the skin using cold pressed berries greens and tropical fruits and her brand has been featured by Vogue and Cosmopolitan and also seen on TV her clean green superfood Serum is fast becoming a cult classic and won the best
facial oil for 2020 awarded by the Women's Health Beauty Awards the fourth Niche I'd like to introduce you to is the lifestyle driven niche now many customers will want to buy beauty products that they feel fit into their lifestyle although it may not occur to most Shoppers to go looking for beauty products that fit their lifestyle they will naturally identify with brands that align with their choices be that family or dietry Sports religious even political choices a great example in our graduate Community is the award-winning mother and baby brand kiss kiss good night which was
founded by our graduate shell in the US now Shel enrolled for our International organic skincare entrepreneur program and then created her nighttime skincare range that transforms chore like nighttime routines for your family into feel-good nighttime rituals Shel wanted her formulations to help connect families in sweet and simple ways at the end of the day and I can tell you they are absolutely stunning now the final Niche I'm going to share with you is the Heritage driven Niche you have undoubtedly already seen Beauty Brands that Focus on their location or culture and these Founders have taken
their Heritage and Infused it into their brands it influences how they talk to their customers it influences how and what they formulate this is a very powerful Niche because it allows you to infuse your story I'd like to introduce you to nopala which was founded by our graduate Sandra in the US now nopala was started to elevate and celebrate Latina culture and in doing so Sandra has taken her inspiration from the noal cactus one of the most sustainable nourishing and versatile plants in the world it's strong it's resilient it's beautiful and it's infused into her
brand in every way possible in the formulations in the ingredients even in the logo and in the way it makes you feel so Sandra launched in 2020 during lockdown by month two she had to move into commercial premises to keep up with Demand by month three she was stocked by 50 retailers in the US after after her first year in business she generated over half a million US dollars in sales now I need to tell you straight away these results aren't typical but it just goes to show that if you have a strong brand you
