How to Enable Disk Drill's System Extension (macOS Ventura, Sonoma)

In this tutorial, we'll be covering the exact steps required to enable the Disk Drll system extension on your Mac computer running macOS Ventura and Sonoma. Now, what this will allow us to do and what will allow Disk Drll to do is it will allow us to read the data and recover the data from our system drives, which is what requires that extra security clearance. And there are two versions of the Mac that we will be running through.

So first of all, we've got the M1 and M2 Macs, and then we'll also be covering the T2 and Intel based systems. So we'll be starting with the M1 and M2 Macs as those require a bit more of a preparatory step procedure in order to kind of get them up to speed. And then at that point we will join up with the T2 and Intel based systems later on as the steps from there on out remain identical.

Okay. So jumping right in, we're just going to start with the Kext installation on the M1 and M2 systems as those, like I said, require a bit more steps in the beginning. So starting off, we need to tell our Mac to allow Kext installation from verified developers, basically letting its guard down to allow the installation.

To do this, we need to turn off the Mac. So just turn it off like normal. Then turn it on again, but hold the power button until your screen says Loading start up options.

Then click the options icon. Then hit Continue to navigate to the menu. Now from the top menu bar Select utilities, then Startup Security utility.

Then select your system drive and in the dialog window that opens select reduced security and then select the allow user management of kernel extensions from identified developers option box. Then click okay and enter your admin password if prompted to save your changes. Then restart as normal.

At this point we have set up our Mac to accept the Kext installation in the steps from here to the end are the same for all Macs running Ventura or Sonoma, regardless of your processor type. Okay, so once your Mac is restarted, go ahead and launch Disk Drll. Then upon Startup direct device access window will appear from the main window.

Click the Deploy system extension option and next in the window that appears you should see where it says system extension blocked. And from there click Open System settings next where it says Justin Johnson developer software was blocked hit allow and if prompted enter your admin password and hit unblock then once more enter your admin password if prompted to save your changes. And finally, go ahead and restart your Mac to complete the installation of the system extension.

Then, once your Mac restarts open Disk Drll once again and upon scanning your system drive Disk Drll will be able to search more and find more data than before.
