>> Yeah. I'm good. >> I hope this don't scare you.
Oh, that sound good. Good. So, you said that your name was what again?
>> Melissa. >> Melissa. Okay, yeah.
Once again, I'm Damian. So, tell me about yourself, Melissa. Like, where you from?
>> I'm from here, from um Houston, actually. >> Born and raised? >> Yeah.
>> Okay. So, what type of stuff do you like, if I'm not being too personal? Like, what type of stuff do you do besides working out?
Like like >> Um I work out. Sometimes I like to read, personally. I like to read.
>> Really? >> like yeah. >> What type of books do you read?
>> Like novels, like romantic novels and stuff like that. >> I used to read uh Donald Goines, um uh Anne Rice. Oh my god, John Grisham.
I used to read so many books years ago. And it's real elevating to the mind, too. >> Yeah.
>> Yeah. So, um how old are you? >> I'm 19.
>> 19? Okay, are you in school or anything? >> Not yet, no.
I just decided to take a little break until I know what I want to do. >> Okay. >> Just exploring for now.
>> Okay. Yeah, you're at that age where you not really for sure, but you still kind of exploring. So, what's something that you would like to do like later on in the future?
Or what's one of the main things that stand out the most to you that you >> Um being a PA, physician assistant. >> Okay. PA, what does that mean?
>> Um it's kind of like being a doctor, but it's just not as many years like as a normal doctor or surgeon. it's less years. It's basically kind of like being a nurse and a doctor at the same at the same time.
>> I got you. >> makes sense. >> I got you.
Yes. Yes, it does. Thank you for breaking that down.
So, um um I'm going to ask you something and just be honest with me. >> Yeah. >> And like you're not going to offend me.
Um when you were walking on the sidewalk and I was asking you something and you you know, you had to go to the gym, what actually made you turn around and come back to the car? >> The color. I love it.
It's the blue. Like blue's always been my favorite color. And then with the black, it just looks good.
>> I definitely appreciate your honesty. Like a lot of people wouldn't be honest. They'll say, "Oh, because you're a fine-looking man.
" Or "I was having a bad day. " So, I appreciate your honesty. And since you were honest with me, I want to be honest with you about a few things about my day.
>> Yeah. >> I know that you have to go. But, um do you carry your cell phone with you?
>> I do. Mhm. >> And you like show it to me?
Okay, awesome. And you like keep it with you every day? >> Yeah.
Mhm. >> Yeah, me too. Even in the bathroom.
I go in the bathroom and [laughter] I'm on the toilet like >> Yeah. >> Just kidding. Okay, so are you familiar with Amber Alerts?
>> Yeah. >> Like when you're on the phone texting or you're scrolling and you get this loud sound, "Eeh! " >> Yeah.
>> What do you remember the most about the last Amber Alert? Like it don't have to be specific. Just like what you remember about Amber Alerts.
>> Um I Well, they mainly go out when something serious happens. Like when the child is abducted or um >> Exactly. >> Like if there's a really bad like weather or something.
>> That's what I was looking for. But, they mainly go out when something really horrible happens. Like a kid is missing or something.
Or a younger person. And I want to talk to you real quick about the Amber Alerts. Um a lot of those Amber Alerts when people get them and they see a five- or six-year-old kid has been like abducted.
A lot of times it's not just children that's abducted. There's people that's your age and older that's abducted. And the reason why that they don't put Amber Alerts out about adults all the time is because as adults we pretty much leave and go when we you know please and nobody's like watching or something or nothing like that.
So a lot of time older people are kidnapped and and abducted. And what happens is when these people are abducted it's sad because when we see it we don't think it happen to us. What happens is they kidnap these kids these younger people they take them to other states, they put them on drugs, they cross them out and then eventually they lose their life and their family members never see them again.
And what I've noticed me being in this state, I've been in Texas since 2019 just over 4 years. And since I've been here I get at least three Amber Alerts a week and it's like one of the biggest states in the United States where kidnapping is more common at. And you know I'm talking to you about this because I'm sure that you have people who love you.
You got siblings, brothers and sisters. >> Yeah, I have five sisters. >> You know wow that's amazing.
You know and I don't know like what they would go through or how it make them feel to know that something happened to you. And I'm telling you this because I don't want to see you come across my screen as the next Amber Alert because you want to become a PA one day, you want to go forward your education and you have a lot to offer the world. And I don't think that it'd be fair for the world to be robbed of someone as wonderful as you.
You know I believe that you have a lot to offer and I just want to you know know that if you would share this with someone that you really love because you could potentially be saving someone's life. You know it's the small things that matter. You know it takes one person to make a huge difference.
You know but most importantly I would like you to make me that promise. >> Of course. >> And you promise me that >> [laughter] >> that you will never ever get into someone else's car again.
>> I really got it. >> Thank you. Now, I'm going to tell you why and I'm going to let you go.
You know, a lot of people who is involved in in this type of crime, they use nice exotic cars like this, big jobs of money, flashing jewelry to lure people into their cars and that's when everything else takes place. >> Yeah. >> And you know, like I said, um you can have your own Corvette, your own big mansion.
You can work hard for it. Follow your dreams and follow your goals because you do have something to offer the world. And like I said, I don't want you to get back into the situation with any of these people out here on the streets like this.
All right? >> Yeah. >> But I'm going to let you go and I appreciate you.
And I am disappointed that you did get in the I am happy that you stopped and spoke to me for a second, but I'm going to disappointed that you got in the car. But at the same time, I'm glad I was able to share this with you while you was in the car. So, >> I promise.
>> One more thing, promise. All right, take care of yourself. >> You too.
Thank you so much. >> Well, push the button. There you go.
You know, man, that young lady right there, she has a lot to offer the world, man. You know, the world should not be robbed of people like that, man. You know, I feel like if she shares this with somebody that she can potentially save someone's life, man.
I hope that she do the right thing and never get into a stranger's car. >> Yeah, man. >> Uh I'm out, man.
