Carlos s's move to Williams was probably one of the most unfair ones that the F1 sport has seen but with Hamilton knocking on the door there are not many people other than bonato who would have said no to this Legend but now that science has helped Ferrari climb to where they are at the moment can he transfer that momentum with Williams as the early signs show he can be very competitive and if so what are the other factors that are going to help the Grove based Squad outside of the race-winning experience of the Spaniard it's
safe to say that Williams has landed a gam of a driver in Carlos SS and it doesn't take a genius to understand that he is a four-time race winner and in the shared time as teammates with lir he's been able to drop the difference to just 0.03 seconds on top of that his numbers in terms of race pace and one laap pace are not bad and in 2024 the Spaniard even had a better average race position compared to his teammate and that shows that he's far from going into a retirement mode with Williams what is
a heavy blow for Ferrari is the fact that they are passing ways with an 18 year partner of theirs santande as it was understood that from the very start that the Spanish bank would follow the path of the four-time race winner with Williams The Grove based squad has secured heavy finances and while the statement of vals saying that his team has the best lineup for 2025 is a bit of a farfetched scenario if we to look at all of the other teams except the top three Williams does have the quality to fight in the Midfield
sooner rather than later and obviously the mission for science is easy Pro to Ferrari that they shouldn't have gone the way they did and he could have been the next Champion or at least the greatest teammate lir could have had in Ferrari fought for championships yes situations like the one in Vegas are proving otherwise but SCS was driving his own race and we must not forget that he's done Dirty by his own Engineers as well asking to be pitted for quite some time and when he finally entered the pit the crew wasn't ready but that
is now all in the past and what we can reflect on is whether or not SS made the right move to go to Williams which isn't that big of a discussion either because if we to look at the other options they weren't existing in the first place the only other one that made a lot of sense for the Spaniard was the Audi project but given the downfall of saber SS believed it would be better to join a project like Williams and show the world that his decision- making and self-belief is what brought the four wins
in Ferrari in combination with good onrack circumstances and strategy that quite frankly he called for his own quite a lot and this is why science's expectations with Williams are quite realistic we all know that 2025 is going to be a learning curve for the growth based Squad but with the finances secured from santande and the wind tunnel time being increased given the fact Williams dropped from p7 to P9 in the constructors compared to last year science believes that once the new regulations kick in he can fight for podiums and race wins on a much more
frequent basis to say that any other team is going to invest in their car rather than the top three which is a bit of a far-fetched scenario because everyone is focused on the new regulations but nevertheless that doesn't mean we're not going to see a fierce battle going on in the lower rows as well and when talking about this science said I am as determined as ever to help Williams to be back where it belongs I personally feel like I belong fighting for wins podiums and top five finishes in Formula 1 I've proven it these
last four years as a Ferrari driver but Williams also belongs to be fighting for these top five in Podium places and together with the determination and the strength that we're going to show the target is to get Williams and myself to fight for those position in the near future ha him or L him SS has shown a lot of maturity in the process of transition because even though there were some sparks flying between him and theair the Spaniard admitted that it's quite easy to understand why Ferrari made the move they did and why they replaced
him any other the team would have done so and there are no harsh feelings on it what's more interesting is that SS has left the door open for a potential Ferrari return sometime in the future but his mind is focused on making Williams a strong force now which with the combination of albon is not that farfetched of a scenario either we do know that Audi should struggle in their first couple of years as admitted by bonato so this could help open the door for the Grove Bas Squad to use the engines and gearboxes of Mercedes
to the absolute maximum and maybe even upset the front teams a little bit from time to time what is certain is that sence himself doesn't know how much time it's going to take him for him to achieve what he believes is the bigger picture for him and Williams but what he can confirm is that the team is at Max motivation and elaborating further on this extent he added I don't think you guys understand how motivated I am and how much I'm looking forward to the challenge of bringing Williams back to where they belong that is
one of my qualities to help a team to perform better and know which direction to follow yes we do know that SS felt a little bit sad because he won't be part of Ferrari now that they have a genuine chance to fight for the world championship but again he was a pivotal part of making that happen and while everything revolved primarily around lir we must not forget the input that the four-time race winner had on the Marinello base Squad I'm going to remind you of a couple of races in 2022 Monaco in silverston just so
that you can see how a driver can call up his own tactic and make it work in his favor which isn't something that Lair or Hamilton can say about themselves unfortunately science doesn't rely too much on the data given and can make ontract decisions in a split second which again can prove to be pivotal when you're fighting for the lower positions and for scrap points this is why SS might be one of the sharpest drivers on the grid more often than not we've seen him calling his own tactics and this will be crucial for Williams
because it could mean the difference between finishing P9 and P6 in the constructor's championship obviously the goal is to fight for Podium finishes sooner rather than later but I think we both know that SS and his new team understand the conditions that they're in and how impossible that's looking from this point of view Williams has already sacrificed part of the 202's development in order to focus on 2026 so to say that they are expecting great things from the upcoming season in terms of revolution is definitely a farfetched scenario but the tire test in the asarina
has shown that SCS might be able to extract continuous Point finishes from the car if he manages to enter into a motion and Jael himself with the car of course a lot of pressure will be put on albon as well because the tie driver has been able to dominate against Sergeant but when the rookie colapinto started knocking on the door it was an immediate need from Alexander to improve in order to prove that he is the Superstar that Williams signed back in 2022 be that as it may he's eager to hear the feedback that science
will have on the FW 46 the 2024 Challenger from the laps he's driven in the asarina circuit as he set the second fastest time which was the first for quite some time before it was dethroned by his old teammate lir talking about it in a greater extent albon said truthfully I didn't have too much contact with science I wish I could say more but I think obviously once Abu Dhabi happen happens firstly I'll be very keen to hear his feedback on the car during the test and see where his head is at compared to Ferrari
I think obviously he will have a very fresh mind of driving the Ferrari and then coming into Williams of where our strengths are where are our weaknesses but even albon himself is aware that science will bring a lot of value to Williams and when continuing to praise his new teammate which is by the way a huge threat for albon's vacancy in Williams the tie driver said one of the things I'm looking forward to most with Carlos joining us I remember my time I'm at Red Bull and when I came to Williams and obviously there are
a lot of things on your mind things you want to try and improve for the team at the same time I've spent now 3 years at Williams and it's nice to almost have someone a little bit fresher than me and coming from a team like Ferrari I'm sure he will bring a lot to the table of course I know he will push me I think he had a very strong year in 2024 as well but it will be a good challenge with all of this in mind do you think that science will make a massive
difference in Williams from 2025 onwards and if so do you think the revolution in the Grove Bas Squad is well underway as they're striving to fight for race wins and podiums sooner rather than later with the best lineup as vows labeled his driver to be on the grid let us know in the comments below and if you want to know more about the 2024 pelli Tire test aftermath make sure to go and click on the video that appears on your screen right now
