Kick in here but uh I guess I'll start rambling for those of you who were on time uh my name's Tony Blau I have been uh studying violence fear and aggression for over 40 years uh I uh turned 64 two weeks ago just before the last operation black site and uh and I teach the combatives there along with the team usually Mike Chandler's there but he's training for uh McGregor right now so it was me and Steve and and Desiree who's a You know worldclass tie boxing expert um Steve of course former Marine you know
the uh the fitness Guru in charge of all the training there but we have a lot of fun there and we do the hand toand stuff gun disarms knife disarms empty-hand stuff and I've got a particular specialty uh when it comes to uh scenario Based training and self-defense that's very very different than um than uh uh and just notice we've got people in the waiting room I guess You're tracking that right on the side there yep world because it's not based on complex motor skills it's actually uh inspired by uh physiology Kinesiology psychology so imagine
that in a holy [ __ ] moment when you've got to protect yourself or defend yourself or your family imagine there might be fear and fear can override our ner nervous system and cause a startle response in untrained people it it that startle Response kind of Segways into a freeze I'm sure everyone on this call has heard fight flight freeze we go way beyond that and and work on remedies to overcome that and so we go deep into the difference between the psychology of fear and the biology of fear and then we developed a whole
uh training protocol called The Human Weapon system around how do you weaponize the start Flinch so everyone on this call has flinched you know imagine I don't care if you turn Around there's a spider there's a snake you walk into a spider web or there's there's a threat in front of you the startle response is to recoil from that danger and then what happens is our hands will always come up to protect our head if our hands are free and then push away danger and this is kind of what I teach in the group is
how to weaponize the startle response uh almost like a biological airbag that's how it serves you it's it's it's ingenious and it Works for regardless of training uh and regardless of gender age or experience so it's really an important protocol for all of you uh everyone on this call I'm assuming is an entrepreneur in business in some sort of way that's how why you're connected to to Dan and bados and the rest of the team one of the things that I said early on to the group and it resonates more with me than everyone else
but uh um is I tell people like you're an entrepreneur if I started if I Were here to talk to you about protecting your assets you know this call might have like a hundred people on it uh but the joke I make is this your most important asset is your ass and if you can't protect your ass your assets are irrelevant get it like so you might go yeah I like man I'm a workaholic or or work life balance but I really focus on my portfolio and I'm into real estate and crypto and and this
whatever it is That all goes away if you're scared shitless unconscious or dead yes or no right so you can focus on that but if you can't protect yourself and I I look at this I it blows my mind because I look at this state of the world now there's always been violence there's always been danger but if you're not noticing something really [ __ ] different happening on the planet right now uh you're not uh connected to social media or the uh or or the news um to be Fair and I'll just do a
little rant on this the mainstream media and the News kind of magnifies what's going on right if depending on where you live you might drive you might never see any of the [ __ ] you see on the news it's kind of like that where I live I live in Southern California but I don't have to go too far to see craziness but if you just watch the news you think the entire world is on fire having said that as a person who has spent you know most of my Life studying violence fear and aggression
the world is on [ __ ] fire right now uh Mental Health uh uh the immigration crisis the Border crisis the amount of brazen crime we see in broad daylight in in anywhere uh uh anyone any time and it doesn't matter it used to be um you know at night in crappy areas and now it's just everywhere so I urge all of you uh if you haven't been to to the black site uh event to the weekend To the operation black site because a couple of you mentioned you hadn't been uh check out they've got
some amazing new uh programs they're trying to increase the frequency and they've made it uh um they've change the price St structure I'm not going to go into that you you you know contact uh the team specifically on that but you've got an inside track to that but this is a chance and I'll just say this again I'll State this again you know if I said to You hey I want you to invest this and this is what the return on investment is going to be blah blah blah you'd be like let me check that
out Roi okay invest this blah blah blah when can I see my money but if something happens to you you got no portfolio you're done right it doesn't matter so I'll say the the slogan again right your most important asset is your ass not your portfolio if something happens to you something happens to your Portfolio you cannot provide and protect for your company your team or your family so this is why I'm insanely passion passionate about personal safety and I travel all over the world I work with all the acronym agencies I work with different
countries um and it was a funny funny story when when operation blacksight kicked off I got a text message from bados who knew me through our good mutual friend uh Jay fuia and bedro said to me hey we're doing Something with Michael Chandler and Tim Kennedy and a bunch of other badasses and I need somebody do you know somebody who's world class for uh knife and gun empty hand stuff and I said it's funny you should you should um ask that because uh I'm friends with like you know some people consider him the best in
the world and uh and he goes oh my God you know you know would you would you make an introduction and I said yeah absolutely Uh what's the best way to make an introduction and uh I said text or would you like a text or would you like a um an email so he goes uh he goes text would be fine I said okay I'm going to put you guys on a group on a group text right now this guy's the best in the world and just you know mention my name and and uh I'm
trying to I'm looking here for for the picture that I sent him because I you know I went like this and I texted him like a picture of me right And he started laughing I was like dude you don't even know what I do like I work with tier one operators I teach like bad guys had to hunt and and and and frakin terminate like immediate action threats and stuff like that so we had this big laugh and I've been teaching ever since there's a couple things that I do and one of the things that
I wanted to talk about on this call is uh something called tactical Fitness and and uh just reframe what you could Do to make yourself stronger right we've got all demographics here on the call we've got older a we've got a couple of young people here uh and and you know Fitness in is should be part of your life move movement is life you all know that and the more we move the the better off we are regardless of what you're you're dealing with um and I and I say that from personal experience I've had
uh in in my career neck injuries back issues uh I'm in nerve Pain every single day it's awful the less I move the more my life sucks and I try to move every day and I just taught last week we just had a two weeks ago we had a course and I'm using demos like you know black Jiu-Jitsu black belts and 40y old athletes and stuff like that and one of the guys you know said to me that was you know relayed back to me because they knew I was 64 because they uh Shannon had
them um do a little birthday thing on the Friday night talk right so They brought out cupcakes and stuff for me and it was it was it was very sweet so everyone knew that uh I like sweets and I'm 64 and so my point here is I'm moving and doing these demos and one of the guys said to me indirectly he said I can't believe how fast and how strong you are at 64 and and I created a program for the people that I consult with and train with a program called tactical snacks and that
was really the theme of it uh For today's talk and I'll talk about anything but I'm going to show you a couple of ideas and uh I know there's only uh you know nine or 10 of us on the call here but if you're in a place to to do I'm going to show you how I do push-ups and how I do squats just as an example but the idea of tactical squats is really really important and interesting because it's something whether as you're an aging athlete or you're a busy entrepreneur I don't have Time
even though like this is I've got a like a like a garage gym in my house there's no room for my cars here fortunately I live in California there outside you know uh but I don't I don't have time with you know I have a um four verticals in my company and even though my garage is literally right beside my office I don't have time for a 90-minute workout you guys feel me I don't time to you know go to a gym or train or do take that 90 minutes so what I created years Ago
because I was traveling all over the world and doing stuff and I was never one of those Gym Rats type person because I was always teaching I created created a principle called tactical snacks and the idea of the Tactical snack is almost micro doing workouts now there's a ton of research coming out now and this is stuff I created 30 years ago there's a ton of research coming out now that says that if you do like 10 squats every hour on The hour that it has the same metabolic uh effect as like walking for 45
minutes or an out now it depends on what your goals are like if you're trying to get into Mr or Mrs Olympia right and you're you know you're cutting and you're I I don't know if you guys are are um um you know friends with like Mich Hearn you know and you see how bados works out and stuff like that like if you're training for competition you're gonna have to put in more time but if you're training for Life these are the things that you need to [ __ ] do you need to be able
to move you need to be able to move away from danger and you need to be able to move towards the danger in that sudden moment and this could be you know you're in a car accident get the hell away from the wreck right if there's more cars happening you're you're in a car accident and or you see a car accident and you got to get there and you decide To be the courageous bystander we need to manage fear we need to move functionally so I've changed my whole protocol and what I do is I
when I work out I'm working out for Mobility for stability for stamina for endurance but I do these tactical snacks and I try to when I'm in the zone I'll do stuff like every hour my alarm will go off if in the middle of a phone call or in the middle of like a like a creative Moment where I'm writing something I'll ignore it but I try to and this is the psychology behind it I try to respond to the beep on my phone like an Urgent Message like the bat signal right like and why
is this important if you start to study more about my fear Management program if if you come back to uh uh one of the blackside events I always talk about the psychology of fear versus the biology of fear the psychology of fear is it's now it's an emergency and I've Got to move now like right now I'm gonna talk for an hour and everyone's in their chair most of you I'm gonna put my I'm gonna slide my chair back here FYI um spear is the name of of our training methodology and spear is an acronym
for spontaneous protection enabling accelerated response it's the study of the startle response and how to weaponize that in a crisis situation so everyone's sitting in their chair and when the Call's over you're all going to Go like this you're gonna go Oh I thought blow would be bigger that's the uh that's the joke right that's the line from roadh house you remember the original roadh house not the shitty roadh house that just came out that was fun and entertaining but the original really good road is um but you'll get up like this you'll go maybe
you'll put your hand down and you'll get up like an aging athlete you won't jump out of your chair the Tactical snack method and I'm just using a silly example of like I'm gonna get out of my chair and now what I'm GNA do is I'm gonna think like an athlete I'm not going to think about like being out of position so if I had to you're my 12 o'clock this is 9 o'clock this is 3:00 all alternate depending on where I am in my office my desk is against the wall so I can only
ever T right when I get but if my alarm went off right now I would get out of my chair very tactically and And I'll I'll slide this back here so you can see my my feet right I don't have a this is in my garage gym I'm on a stool I'm on a a regular office chair but what I'm doing when I get out of my chair is I'm just telling myself I'm breaking left as if I've got imagine back door here my wife screams Tony hurry up am I gonna get out like this
and go H what does she want and kind of like roll out of my chair or what I'm doing is this my abs are Engaged my belly buttons to my spine I feel my lats down and I pull myself up and I land already in a two-point stance if I said to all of you you know you're standing here get ready to run everyone would do some sort of two-point stance getting ready to run so the Tactical snack idea it's very very creative it's to look for and look at the things you do throughout the
day and ask yourself can you think more tactically here and then specifically and I'm going to go Through a little presentation and I'm going to demo a couple of things uh can I include this like what will it cost you and I I don't know if everyone's from the USA on this I know people travel from all over the world to train uh at at the blacksite event but what would it cost you US currency to go beep your alarm goes off and get out of your chair like this [ __ ] I've been sitting
for too long Or get out of your chair like this and I'm gonna break left at nine o'clock again where I get off like this and then I decide right from here I'm going to get my hands up as if there's a threat there bumping the back of the chair and I'm going to do just 10 slow squats from this position switch sides do 10 I'm not going to do them all with you right now but um come back in here how many of you on this call how many of you on the call uh
do air squats or some sort of squat Let me see just like a raise your hand fingers thumbs up most of you probably squat like the classic air squat that frosted made famous right where you know your hands come out and you're coming down and you're trying to get below parallel and you're you're trying to keep your back up and you're doing your squat that's not a tactical squat like if if if Bob threw a punch at me right if Bob's hand came out that if Bob's hand came out and threw a punch at me
I'm not going to squat like this and go oh and come down here my movement if that punch came out would be to lower my center of gravity in that same squat position so what would it cost you in US dollars to learn to take a two-point stance get your hands up as if you were getting ready to fight or go [ __ ] lower your center of gravity and now do that Squad at that angle and then switch to the other side this is a tactical squat that still creates that movement the hip The
hip hinge lowering your Center gravity your head is protected you're still doing squats so we call that a tactical squat um there's a whole bunch of series of of movements here what I'm going to do right now is I'm going to run through the uh um well let me show you is anyone in a position where where they can do a couple of push-ups with me to go through this if you're I know I know I think I got my my my screen is pinned Now so I'm the the full frame which is great I'm
GNA demo our tactical push-up to give you an idea who on the call here can do three push-ups five push-ups 10 push-ups can anyone do those Bunch you I see a couple of hands come up don't be shy this isn't a competition if you're in a place like if you're not driving if you're in a place where you can uh still watch the screen and try this push-up come join me and and do the push-up but I'm going to show You the difference between a tactical push-up before we go the conventional push-up that most people
do is you know your hands are down and you're you're you're pushing up up and down off the ground right the Tactical push-up what I do and this would make more sense if you would if you've done anyone on the call has done any of the uh uh operation blackside training with me where we teach people deescalation strategies which is the moral ethical legal thing To do hey I don't want trouble get your hands up this primes what we call the biological airbag the startle response that I talked about earlier this primes you because if
the person moves at you to hit you or to grab you or pull you the hands naturally will reflexively want to push away danger that's what the body does that's the neurobiology of survival that's stof Flinch push away Danger so the conventional push-up is just down And it's actually the same kinetic chain pay attention to this the same kinetic chain of a palm strike is the same movement protocol as a pushup but if you just do the push-up where you're just thinking about you getting getting ready for the summer and doing I'm going to do
10 push-ups or 100 push-ups or whatever it is versus thinking about the Tactical application of a push-up it changes everything I don't know if you knew this but um like Chess Masters During a chess tournament burn a couple thousand calories but they're sitting there like this you know I'll pretend this is a a a chest piece they're sitting here like this going like that's the amount of work they're doing but at the end of that tournament some people will burn 22500 calories because your brain is burning calories so here's what's here's what we're doing with
tactical snacks is We're always connecting our movement to a scenario we're thinking about that scenario and so we're burning more calories but we're visualizing a problem that we're trying to solve with something practical and at the same time we're developing our strength and some some range of motion does that make sense everybody you tracking that so what you're doing is you're getting you're you're you're it's there's a neuroscience term called interleaving Where you've got more channels processing information at once and it's just better for neuroplasticity better for Education better for for acclamation to the whole
thing let me get a sip of my drink and gang I'm Gonna Leave a lot of time for questions after if you can do the pushup with me I do that I got a nice concrete floor Flor here stick a a yoga mat down Here so um if you can do the pushup do it if you can't uh if you can't do it let me just see if if this is I don't know why that is happening um if you can't do the pushup just watch it and learn it if you're a place where where
where you uh can't make this happen so check this out okay if you're if you're able to do the push-up let's let's do it together You're going to hop down I know this is this bar in the way we're good you can see me let me do uh slide this here okay so check this out um conventional pushup right you're you know most people be up like this they're they're they're in their plank position and if you're in to pushup everyone get into their plank position and get up there I can't see you anymore but
you know the conventual pushup You're here you're going to go down and you're going to go up and that'll be that'll be one push-up right um so everyone do if you're in a POS a push-up position what I'd like you to do is do three push-ups if you can't do them in the in the plank position go on your knees and do three push-ups let's do them together so we're up here like this so you can do on your knees or you can be up here like this watch your low back and try to get
your chest to the floor Let's do three together ready and down and up down and up down and up now for the spear pushup my spear system pushup and I want you to see this here this is part of the protocol if I were encroaching you right if I were coming up to you in the street like a crazy person going hey [ __ ] I'm coming up to you without any training you would be like whoa whoa whoa whoa hey take it easy take it easy you'd be you know finger Spayed your hands are
out you're pushing away danger so we call this The Negotiator stance I can still fire punches and palm strikes forearms and elbows from here do you see that I could still be in position here right where where my hands are up like this still hit the person still fire fire shots on the person still you know move with my hands up but from a deescalation from an Optics point of view me standing in Front of you going I don't want to fight versus me standing in front of you saying I don't want to fight huge
difference also as entrepreneurs it's a huge different in terms of your liability do you get that because somebody's going to look at a black and white video mounted on the side of a building with no sound and they see you standing like this or in the cruddy kid dance right versus you standing in this position which uh which changes Everything because it looks like you're trying to diffuse stuff but you can still move and protect from here if you're untrained this is also what you'll do so I need to understand the psychology of that we
call this the Trojan Horse principle now I'm going to start my pushup hitting this exact position so those of you that did it with me you're going to get down into the plank position but you're going to hold it Now where your fingers are spayed meaning they're part and your arm is outside 90 this is a 90° angle this is slightly outside 90 then when I go down I'm going to slowly roll roll down as if and this is where hopefully you'll get some more training with me at one of the events if somebody were
to attack me the startle response always has the hands collapse first so I'm going to pretend Bob is going to go to headbut me right this is the this is that you know where You goes to throw a sucker punch right that movement of of recoiling and notice the angle of my feet here right it's like it's it's that push-up Ang sorry that squat angle that I was talking about earlier and my hands are back here I now need to have the ligament tendon um strength and the neural pattern I did a pregnant pause there
on purpose because a lot of people think there's such a thing as muscle memory in the literal sense there Isn't muscle memory in the literal sense there is muscles don't have memory but there are neural patterns so when we train to to drive our hand this is the biological airbag what we want to happen is as that attack's happening as I Flinch I want my hands to drive away this is the push-up action right so instead of me going and getting hit and knock back is as I Flinch the neural pattern to drive that way
kicks in and it looks like this now And now that person runs into a palm strike or my forearm does this sort of make sense to you right so the connection here is this instead of me just doing like the air squat I'm doing a tactical squat instead of just doing a regular push-up I'm doing a tactical push-up and what it's doing is it's creating it's and this is this is the the science and the psychology of of of this concept I'm VIs NE Izing confrontation management strategies before I do my pushup I hit the
nonviolent posture so I have a connection this is an anchor point right you step into my personal space and I go whoa now my nervous system goes hey this is that kinetic chain of the Palm strike of the push away danger the nervous system starts to regulate there then if the attack happens because the deescalation fails the micro Flinch is now connected to this push away danger That's the neural pattern give me a thumbs up if you sort of understand that right so check this out if you're able to do the push-ups with me we're
going to get down into position here the first thing you're going to do is be here finger spay and now do that same pushup but this time here you're starting halfway down and the floor is your threat the floor is the bad guy so get there now drop down so your nose Touches that's that Primal position and now aggressively push away the danger up to the top and now go back down to the nonviolent posture drop don't let your don't rest on the floor and push away danger back to The Negotiator position drop push away
danger and stop we've only done three feel that what those three push-ups felt like see nobody else nobody was moving was just me if if you could do it like The difference in the pump that I have and the difference in the challenge of the body and that's why if if there was anyone on the call that did them with me the first three conventional push-ups are a breeze there's almost like a bounce and elasticity to it this push-up here is way harder like if you do 10 of them you're out of breath and you
got it feels like you just worked out for a half an hour because the visualization the timing the pauses I'm visualizing threat in front of me that I'm visualizing the Primal part of pulling down to the ground catching myself there which is developing the ligament in tendon strength I'll show you one more time on on this B you guys can hear if any of you are martial artists um you see people online demoing with a bob dummy and they're kicking and knocking it over and you see them hitting it and it's [ __ ] Bouncing
those Bob dummies aren't filled with anything listen to the sound this makes here this is like filled with water right so when I when I let it hit me I'm going to just push it away and let it hit me and I go here right I'm actually getting knocked back from that but if I can strengthen the Flinch and drive out there I can now push it and now I can stabilize it because I've trained my body to lock into that Position this might seem like a crazy Zoom call for you some of you probably
had no idea what to expect but your most D the most dangerous moment for anyone on this call including myself would be sudden violence we have Maxim that the ability to protect yourself or a loved one is is arguably the most important skill you could possess and and it's true true I don't care I wrote an article decades ago Called the economics of violence and and I share this with with you as entrepreneurs the economics of violence has nothing to do with with how much money violence costs countries or cities or or families the economics
of violence says that no matter how much money you have you can't afford to be attacked because the impact on your well-being on your confidence on your self-esteem on your it's it's Ridiculous in case you couldn't tell I'm pretty [ __ ] passionate I'm obsessed with making good people safer um so the uh yeah the whole concept behind the Tactical snacks I'm going to show you like a quick little presentation to kind of crystallize the whole thing and then I'll I'll answer any questions you might have but the uh the whole principle behind is to
take busy people and make them safer faster without having them have to go to like a dojo four nights a Week or or and there's nothing wrong with that if you can and that's your and that's your love and that's your passion uh but the Tactical snacks are very different than rolling and doing Jiu-Jitsu or or going to COV or going to the range and shooting uh the Tactical snacks can be any any aspect but it just basically says as I navigate the world can I be more situationally aware can I think about different things
if I'm moving from my car to my office uh How will I get out of my car how will I get out of my chair and then what I what I'll do on top of that is I'll add like I said earlier my alarm will go off and then every oh that's what that alarm was it was it was to give you a visual example but I was in the zone here had the alarm go off because in the middle of it I was going to pretend if this if this if that was my alarm
for my tactical snacks if I wasn't doing something I would drop down I would do 10 push-ups I would do 10 squats and how long does it take to do 10 push-ups 10 squats uh literally 30 seconds so if I said to you I want you to do um when you do uh you know 100 push-ups 100 squats a day you'd be like I going to do that but I go like just do like 30 40 seconds of work every you're not you're in a suit at work you're not going to break a sweat you're
in a dress with high heels you're not going to break a sweat right so so if you if you're thinking you Can't get this in like you're not thinking tactically you're not thinking strategically um let me show you this here this presentation where is it Keynote keyot um this is crazy it has seemed to have disappeared stand by one second I just lost all of you you still have share permission oh Here is that was so bizarre okay um is it full screen for everybody yep okay perfect and did it just switch to combat calisthenics
okay great so the original inspiration just some history the original inspiration for this was a program I designed for military client clients and this art this this not article this document is back from 2009 and it was putting together a an like a Year-long combatives iteration every week uh people were learning learning different things okay so that was the original uh inspiration the I would get asked um again I alluded to it earlier how how do you stay in shape how do you stay moving so fast at your age how do you m maintain your
strength and what I realized I was doing was with all the travel I was doing I get to a Hotel throw down my bag I go [ __ ] I only have like a half hour till I got a meeting or I got to prepare I got to go to dinner and you know I would just stand there I was always like Shadow Boxing and doing things for my martial art and self-defense but I wanted to work on on different movements so I'd be standing there and I know I'm only tiny in the side there
but I would like I'd stand there waiting and I'd go you know you know I'd hit a palm strike in the Air and then I'd hit another Palm strike and then I'd hit my spear stance and then I would do like just some squats get my blood going you know pretend there was maybe a threat coming at me from this angle I'd switch and I do do some squats I visualize somebody like slashing or throwing a punch over my head and I'm ducking under it and I was just maintaining this tactical efficiency then I always
like doing push-ups I've been doing them my whole Life I would get down I started doing incorpor ating different angles for push-ups so we do in in our full in our full series uh we teach you how to do uh push-ups on your uh first three Knuckles sorry your back three Knuckles your front two Knuckles uh different angles uh uh you know for your hands so so I'll do uh an angle if you look at if you look at me in the corner here where I've got one hand a pushup over here my hands Over
here and over here as a I'm doing on the ground and what that's simulating is I've just grabbed a guy who's grabbed a weapon I've grabbed his wrist and this other hand is smashing him across the face right so I visualized that and it turns out that when you change the angle of your push-ups you change the fitness uh requirement you you're compensating a different ways so you're actually building a ro more robust physique but Not only are you hitting muscles at different angles you can't do my tactical push-ups without visualizing the problem does that
make sense so now we've got that chest example where I'm burning extra calories I'm visualizing what I'm doing so this is just like you know so this was inspired by my combat calisthenics document these are bite-sized workouts that you do consistently there's compound interest if I told you and you All you know understand uh uh money better than most people but if I told you hey put a dollar in the bank every hour the average person will go I'm not going to do that that's stupid but you know that if you did that and you
continue to do that the compound interest in that would get seriously crazy after some time correct so compound interest is a real thing shorter rep Cycles as aging athletes and people who aren't Fanatics um uh we're going to jump down here there's a lower risk of injury there's meaningful reps meaning I'm doing these on purpose for a specific reason so all do I have you know in um how many of you shoot at firearms on this on this call almost everybody fantastic how many of you conceal carry as well okay wow okay so I've got
c training P pistols and I've got concealed carry as well but like part of My part of my uh uh tactical Fitness routine will the alarm will go off and and what I'll do is I'll pretend okay I I heard a noise in the house house and I'm immediately coming off the uh the chair in a two-point stance rotating around and I'm moving towards the threat and I maybe firing you know I'm I'm firing with the c pistol and I'll do that like a couple times so I'm practicing that and then I might finish that
with 10 tactical push-ups and 10 Tactical squats I might do my spear form which is a series of of tactical uh Maneuvers like your Close Quarter toolbox and literally the whole thing takes less than two minutes now if you're sitting at your desk right A lot of times you go you get up and you go I gotta stretch my back and you do this you kind of do some lazy touch your toes you do that like that's doing jack [ __ ] for you and in the in the greater Sense of the word it's it's
not making you safer it's not working towards longevity particularly if there's an incident so there's something creative and I was really surprised to see how many of you are into guns but this is our whole this is our you know the expression the Human Weapon system came came from came from me we've been using that you know for decades uh but it resonates right you want to be a human Weapon and this is one of the ways to do it because it keeps and this is an interesting thing if if I asked you what you
had for breakfast three days ago nobody would be able to answer without unless you always skip breakfast then you'd say I don't eat breakfast or you always have the same thing so if you always have like one egg or oatmeal or whatever you could answer but if you mix it up you would have to do this you would have to go breakfast three days Ago you'd look up into the to the right you'd visualize whoops you'd visualize uh and you go so yes I had this this but it would take you a few seconds before
you recreate Creed what you had agree if I ask you what get for breakfast today you still have to do the same thing but it' be faster because it was just today if I asked you what you had for lunch today it'd be even faster because the brain short-term long-term memory Functions just like that this is like closest to to my mind if I said to you what type of car are you driving you would answer me if I said what was your first car in college you'd go oh hold on a second um oh
yeah was a you guys get what I'm saying so if you only do if and stay with me on this can we agree that there are lots of things in life that could be dangerous right uh but the most dangerous thing would be sudden violence right beside you where you had A chance to escape or stop it and didn't know what to do that's just like from my world because I teach personal Safety and Security so I you know and it's controversial I say to people hey you know this is this the most important skill
to have is the ability to protect yourself or a loved one people go that's not the most important I go yeah it is they go no it isn't I go like you know let's say you all have a guitar Collection and you all have a a car collection you all have a stamp collection if I said I'm gonna break into your house while you're on your next trip and steal your cars and your stamp and your guitars and I'm going to rip you off and and uh if you didn't steal that [ __ ] to
begin with and you earned it and bought it you'd go that would suck I'll just I'll have to purchase it again I'll make the money again I'll figure it out but If I said to you I'm gonna take your family away from you instead of your guitar collection suddenly you're like whoa whoa whoa what did you just say [ __ ] you understand like like you can't you can't change that and so I'm obsessed with making good people safer and very often it frustrates me that I'm more concerned with other people's safety than they are
and I don't need you to so the way I've created this program it's not about Being paranoid it's just about being prepared and and dialing and dialing that in the same the same way um how many of you know how to put on a tourniquet on this call why see one head going right God forbid you're in a restaurant and and and something happens someone gets cut right you don't no one knows how to put on tourniquet now you got to wait for a paramedic so it's the same thing with sudden Violence right is just
just know what to do so we're trying to improve your mind speed anyways off on off on one of my uh mini tangents here the Tactical snacks is just a simple way uh to build into your daily daily practice ways to do and you don't have to do it from the self I do it from the self-defense perspective you could take the same formula you could go you know that guy blowes like we're a little obsessed with the self-defense stuff but if you just took The idea of on the hour every hour do 10 push-ups
do 10 squats that would change your day that would change your life and I'll show this I'm gonna share one of my favorite quotes Dan Gable is one of America's top top uh greatest wrestlers and he said if it's important do it every day how many of you brush your teeth once a week right versus every day hopefully twice a day some of you more than that depends what you're eating Right but for me Fitness is important do it every day my particular bias of coures can it be tactical Fitness I need my fitness to
be practical if I've got to save myself or something um now check this here here this is the what we mean by micro doing if you do 10 push-ups every hour for 10 hours you know you know fast you can do 10 push-ups even if you're do them Slowly 20 seconds no sweat no big deal and you could think it's not going to do anything but there's a lot of research coming out that shows that it does but you'd be doing a 100 push-ups even start to break it down because your body will start to
acclimate to this you can't do 10 in a row do five every 30 minutes you still get it in there here's a fun one that I've done with people let's go for a run For a mile I can't run a mile But like everyone can run 400 yards but if you run 400 yards take a breath and run back and then do that two more times you just ran a mile right so we always say don't let the math beat you find a way to stack it and make it happen um Concepts here instead of
doing regular push-ups do tactical push-ups instead of doing regular squats do tactical squats the same way instead of Just getting out of my chair like a sloth get out of your chair with a sense of urgency you've all had somebody call you um think about this how many think back to a time where somebody said Dad Mom or you called your name hurry up and you got up really fast but you knocked over something on your table or stubbed your toe that's all happened to us right a chair Falls over it's because the the Urgent
departure from where you were had never been Rehearsed if you start building that in and it could it could literally look like this I'm gonna get up with a sense of purpose right now I pop up I turn peripheral vision I look around here so I don't step into my you know run into my my piece of equipment here or trip over my chair this may seem goofy but the brain learns very quickly and I'll give you an example have you ever rented a house or been on vacation or visiting somebody where the staircase had
a step That wasn't the standard step height and you would trip on it or step step fast and dropped it's all happened to you once can you think about a time where you you're coming down stair oh and like there was a big drop because your brain has already figured out you know how how tall steps are and when somebody changes that you trip up a couple times until your brain learns it very quickly you could be in a place where you know uh uh you're out camping or you rented a cabin And and one
of the doors is too low for the shed and you you hit your head on at the first time and then you'll hit your head on a second time and then finally it only usually takes three your brain remembers to duck do you guys track in that experience this is all so adding these little like a little tactical Nuance of how am I going to get out of my car quickly how am I going to get in my car quickly what are the things I need to think about okay check This out here's some numbers
for you if if you do this for 90 days set an alarm every hour and bang it out 10 push-ups spear push-ups uh do the spear form you won't know what that is right now but you know it's a series of moves that we teach and you just spend like eight hours a day sorry eight minutes a day and we did this um we did this with a group where we did this 90-day Challenge and we had people doing like cumulatively 7200 so imagine that's like That that compound interest 7200 push-ups over 90 days you
get in better shape you're doing when you're doing a pushup you're doing Palm strikes right uh these are all part of the the form so we drew this correlate that the average black belt who's learning hundreds of different moves to do martial art uh doesn't do anywhere nearly as many Palm strikes as if you were doing push-ups and doing the this stuff in the air just for you know Eight or t times a day uh it's pretty wild um anyways I just wanted to show you like just some of the numbers of what compound interest
can be and you can make up any numbers you want it's it's the idea and I would love you I would challenge you all to just take the principal and go you know what I do sit at my desk for a long time I'm on calls uh you know one of the things I have my students do is I go like you Know can you do uh can you squeeze in a couple of walks while you're calling there's a lot of research around getting in 10,000 steps you've all heard that right you know people I
don't not time to do 10,000 steps well can you park a little further from the office can you take the stairs uh more days than not can you I I live near some nice Trails um and what I'll try to do is always schedule some calls on nice Days where I get I'm getting my steps in it's not as it's not as perfect as just being in nature without technology and distraction but I'm still getting my steps in so the whole premise Behind These tactical snacks is this idea of finding ways to improve my fitness
and improve my resilience uh in my day and slipping stuff slipping stuff in if you you see me like uh every year we have a big training event in in Vegas so this year we're in July if You're staying at the same hotel as me if I'm waiting for my elevator I'm doing stuff in the you know Security's watching me in the camera and they're going hey there's a freak on floor on 414 you know and he's watching me do stuff I might be doing some tactical squats I might be doing some slow kicks I'm
always messing around with stuff because if you asked me remember I asked you you know what' you have for breakfast on Wednesday if I asked you when's the last time you did something for self-defense to protect yourself you might say oh well the last time I train with you at blacksite or you know uh last week I went to a self-defense class or you know Monday nights I go to Jiu-Jitsu and it's Wednesday so two days ago if you ask me when the last time I thought about or did something for self the fence it
would be oh you know a few minutes ago right and So it's not about being paranoid it's just about slipping slipping it in playing playing with it I've got my C pistol in my other office I'm in there I I tell myself hey when you finish that email grab your gun do do 10 seconds of dry fire do a tactical squat do one push-up do two push-ups oh got to get another all just moving my body anyways I hope this makes sense to you uh I want to leave you know we're we're coming up on
55 minutes I want to leave some time for some questions about this or my system or the black site training if you haven't been to it uh um does let's start off with the Tactical snacks idea does anyone have any question about the formula and and the concept I guarantee if you're nursing any injuries or if you got some back or neck issues or knee issues like this is a safer way to do it because you're controlling the intensity and you're controlling your range of Motion you're better off you know if you got knee issues
like like still standing here and being in that let's move back so you can see my feet being in that split stance and just coming down and doing that is working your your athleticism relative to you know like where you can move whereas trying to do the conventional squat coming down and my back's messed up today so I'm not even going to try it but trying to trying to get like a good Squat to come down like that that challenges knee and hip and hamstring and other stuff it's not Dynamic like this so I'm not
saying don't do those I'm just saying there's a lot of value in being very controlled and being your body is already tactical that's what that's why we refer to everybody as human weapons um the push-up stuff is is is uh is simple but but so much more practical if you you know I don't think anyone I I couldn't see everybody when I Was demoing but it didn't look like anyone did it but I can tell you this that you can bounce 10 push-ups and go oh that was good and you do three of of our
spear system push-ups and you're like holy [ __ ] like that was hard but what you're doing is you're visualizing why am I doing a push-up you're working the kinetic chain of palm strikes single hand two hands pushing away danger you're creating the neural pattern of that biological Airbag um so it's speeding a survival element where you know at the end of the day if the [ __ ] hits the fan you can't Outsource your safety you know that's the the sudden violence is the only event where you can't call another expert to help you
you can't call 911 you can and you do but the shit's over way before 911 response you know that right I mean violence happens it takes 20 seconds once it kicks off it's like it's happening it's done so even if even if the response time for law enforcement is two three four minutes and I don't know anywhere in the world that it's that fast anymore so one of our other maxims is you're the first responder in your fight the first responder you called is the second responder right so anyhow um that's my rant for today
who's got a question for Me don't be shy no such thing as a stupid question what stupid is not asking a question nothing going once going twice what a better a question any a question about anything even stuff we didn't we didn't cover question about about black site about the training about the where to start what to do if you think of a question gang um email me I'll answer you you know my Email is Tony blower tactical.com it's my last name just Google blower tactical or Tony blower hopefully hopefully I'll I'll pop up but
my email is Tony blower bler tactical Tac ti.com and you can get you can get uh in touch with me Ray just popped it in there so thanks Ray um the um if there's if there's no questions I'm gonna let you guys there you go Zach you got a question yeah do you train um Any sort of specific martial arts um do you have any favorites yeah so uh I don't train any conventional martial arts anymore because I you know created my own system you should go to my you should go to my website and
check it out if you go to blower trining systems.com uh it'll show you all the different things that we do you know I love Jiu-Jitsu I love boxing uh I I used To wrestle I I've done tons of different martial arts but when I started teaching people I started I realized very quickly that traditional classical approach to martial arts was missing the fear management the scenario element in fact um all of you should should jump on my newsletter which is free and and if you just Google me in substack just Google Tony blow substack and
just go through some of the articles there I explain uh what we do and why we do it but I Recently uh uh posted about my first very first p student in 1980 got dropped uh at a he was 15 years old but I was teaching at a box had a wrestle Taekwondo had a clinch and all that stuff I was teaching him just the physical stuff and that's what that's what and this is you know there's a lot of martial artists who love me and a lot who hate me because they they misunderstand this
like um it's like getting a Gun and just getting qualified to gun and thinking you understand gunfighting uh right it it's just you know and then and then getting advice from somebody who's been in a gunfight or somebody who teaches gunfighting versus you know somebody who teaches target shooting uh what's not included in most training is the scenario the danger the fear and how that impacts our confidence and our confidence and then so you got a Lot of really overconfident people who are not very conf competent because of the style of training so you know
it's a tricky question because it sounds like I'm putting down other martial arts but if you do a little dive into my bio and who I've worked with you understand like there's there's um there's a lot of um truth to what I'm saying and and you know my company and my team were we're one of the most trusted in the world and we do and we teach all over the world uh But you know that doesn't mean martial arts aren't don't have value they've you know they have tremendous value but they are missing elements of
uh scenario design and fear management uh that uh there's there's faster better more efficient ways that everyone everyone should learn that so we have like an affiliate program so I've got hundreds of Affiliates around the world these are all people who run Their own martial art businesses who then trained with me to get like what's on all the whiteboards behind me and [ __ ] like holy [ __ ] like the psycho dynamics of fear the fear management the scenario design and then they bring that back to their schools is that something you go over
at blacksite um I so I teach for two days at blacksite and what we do on day one is like a a real deep dive into the um uh the science and psychology of the Startle Flinch the whole Human Weapon System Program so you understand the basics and the essentials and then on day two I go over some of the science and psychology behind a weapon confrontation so somebody's produced a gun bad guys only want one of three things property body or life it's a short [ __ ] list so the but your psychology changes
uh and I'll give you a like a really quick story gang I I was contracted by a group of caga Instructors overseas there were 50 instructors on the call and I said to them question I said do you guys teach scenario driven scenario inspired self-defense and they they all said yeah I said uh so like what do you do and they describe the gun disarms they do I said those are just the complex motor skills to do a gun disarm that's not a scenario and they were like well no it is because it's a Guy
with a gun and that's the scenario and I said to them bad guys only want one of three things property body or life so if I've got a gun out here and I'm i' got a mask on I'm concealing my identity and I say give me your purse or give me your briefcase or give me the keys to your car or give me your wallet give me your watch if you believe the person just wants it'll be scary there's a guy with a gun he's concealing his identity and It seems like he wants your property
so now he's grabbed your property Zach and he goes the [ __ ] this you go my wallet yeah there's nothing in it oh I was I was going on for a run I don't carry anything in it just my my uh my key to get back in my house I got a [ __ ] fob and he goes you know what get the [ __ ] in my trunk of my car well now you're going to a secondary crime scene has the fear changed when it went from a robbery to maybe a kidnapping yes
or no does Your fear change well [ __ ] yeah right so now when we add fear we we we lose access to complex motor skill our brain start to go [ __ ] [ __ ] [ __ ] unless you're trained and most people aren't and so what I did I'm using this example with these like 50 instructors where I went now you're at the secretary crime scene and the guy says get on your knees get your hands behind your back and now you're going is he am I getting executed so this went from
property to body to Life we're skipping being tortured can you torture me first like like we're going right to and I'm not making fun I'm just showing that when I introduce these different scenarios the need to manage your fear totally changes so um I can't get this I believe me if you go to the blacksite event I do these rants there all the time um but you know some of our courses are five days long some of them are two days Long some of them are but at at blackside I give everybody uh enough to
get safer enough to get get started and we always tell people whether you're doing the gun stuff with with with Tim and Brian and Bruce and then the whole gang there and uh or you're doing the hand toand stuff with me and Steve and Chandler and what have you we always say like because some of the people come in there they have a lot of training and so now they it's almost like they they like It's like oh man you filled this void now I got this connection right but some people come in there they
got no training or very little or very stylized they did yeah I took a karate class when I was in high school but now you know where you need to start and it and and if you think about it like anything like like if you've never gotten into real estate or you've never gotten into you know online learning and whatever and someone goes you should invest in this Or you should build this you you do a deep dive in and you realize how little you know and then you realize is this something of value that
I should invest in me selfishly for everyone on this call and everyone who might watch this call like this is the biggest investment you could make like if you think about this uh every victim of violence who lived to tell the tale said they had a bad feeling before the attack they just didn't know what to do In that scenario and then and then the last thing I'll say to that is if if you if you look at the people who've been victimized by violence and how it's affected their lives if you asked them and
they and if they believed it if if if this could happen over again would you do something different they all say yeah right so how do you how do you improve your situation Awareness how do you how do you change the so we do a thing called the timeline of violence which which I teach at black site where we show D1 D2 D3 detect and avoid defuse and deescalate then defend this is very important um uh observation because when you train in the conventional model of self-defense learning people teach you a gun disarm they teach
you how to get out of a headlock they teach you what to do if someone kicks you so you're already at D3 nobody's teaching situational awareness and verbal deescalation anyways I could go on for hours and you guys are tricking me into giving you a seminar so uh but I'll I'll give anyone else but thanks I appreciate the question guys check out my stuff and and hit me up and and please you know even if you've come to one of the prior black site events like to the the you know you you can't do too
much self-defense training and it's fun and And whatever but if you've never been to one you should definitely you should definitely get to at least at least one find out what you don't know and now you go now I can make that investment or not or this is what I this isn't what I thought it was or this is what I thought it was there's um just get educated uh any other questions gang yes sir right what what do you recommend for good posture throughout the day other Than getting up stretching doing push-ups I'm just
at the computer for 12 plus hours yeah dude I I um so if you start doing what I told you today like every [ __ ] hour get out of your chair for a minute or two and do some stuff that'll that'll change your backs and your hip flexors and your and your my my my nerve pain and back is so bad that sometimes when I I stand up and it's mostly just from like years of abuse but I'll Stand Up and it'll be a couple of Seconds before I can get aligned right and I
and I feel and I feel the pain so I do some very specific protocols which I I not qualified to teach but in when people train with me we give them access to uh we we talk about there's a system called DNS Dynam Dynamic stabilization system there's another system from uh Europe these are both from Europe uh called the aldoa method that's the guy's last name and these are posters and then a friend of mine uh Eric Goodman created Something called foundation training and these are all things uh systems that create space in your spine
that that but you got to look into them you could YouTu each one DNS Dynamic stabilization system foundation training they've got an amazing app but it's all like these slow contractions you're not doing anything Dynamic but they're exercises that that you would do uh so people who train with me we have them doing stuff for uh posture we've got a hydration Protocol this is how much water I'd like you to drink a day I want you to do these types of stretching and Mobility exercises but it's not like it's it's following the same uh micro
do tactical snack methodology so your life will change if you just got up every you know if you go I'm going to do Pomodoro every 20 minutes I'm going to get up get up and walk a 100 steps and walk back do do do 10 squats do 10 push-ups do some side Bends stretch your hamstring for a minute you know you can do like you know little like uh the uh couch stretch you know when you get your foot behind you and stretch those hip flexors there's just some classic simple ranges of motion our body
needs to be and all of us are too much like this we're either driving we're sitting we're at a computer we're on our phone and all of of us you know unless you're doing something to counteracted all of Us have [ __ ] up posture low back pain tight hip flexors I don't even know any of you and and everyone of you is going how does he [ __ ] know that because because we all spend way too much time in this position that we shouldn't be in does that help a that definitely helps I
think when you hunch over the equivalent of having like a 60 pound child on your shoulders or something like that I've read Is that some kombucha or what are you drinking there it's actually an energy drink called um zip fiz it's the lamest name ever you can get it on um uh Amazon but a de agent I flew in to go uh train these guys and and I was super tired from the flight so I was coming from the west coast to the east coast class started at 8 so it's 5: in the morning so
I had to get up at 400 in the morning to get over To training facility and I'm like dragging my ass and he goes hey do you want a little pick me up and I was like is it legal you guys are the de right and he said yeah so he gives me the zip Fizz and I went zip Fizz that's the [ __ ] shittiest name ever and I'm looking at the ingredients and it's all amazing ingredients in it um but it's got like caffeine from Green from uh green tea and uh other stuff
like it's not Synthetic um and you can do they say don't do more than than two a day I do two a day but it's all got all B vitamins and and and gin sang and stuff like that um but I love it I swear by it and I love telling the story because I got it from like a federal agent and uh and then I don't know if you guys know if you ever heard of th Thorn vitamins so Thorn t h o r NE e they're like the Ferrari of vitamins you know there's
all these different standards and qualities So they're like the Lamborghini Ferrari level vitamins so I'm at uh a big training event I'm a guest speaker at one of the SX events and Thorne has this a booth there and I had one of these in my pocket and I hate when people ask me you didn't do it Zach but you came really close I hate when people ask me hey what do you think of this martial art and I'm going what do you think of my martial art I was tell if I thought their Martial art
would was better then I'd go work for their company like right so so uh I'm teasing isach but I had one of these in my pocket right and I'm standing there you know because I'm at this event and I and I do two a day and I'm like oh here's the president of thorn this multi million doll you know uh uh you know neutral company and I go and I say to the guy I get introduced to him personally and I go hey man I hate when people ask me what Do you think of so
and so but I gotta ask you because you're Thorn have you heard of this [ __ ] because I wanted to make sure I wasn't like poisoning myself right and he goes yeah zip Fizz he says a buddy of mine makes that it's really good like that's the actually what the president of Thorne you know said so I was like okay cool so there you go Amazon zip Fizz let me know how you like it checking it out now yeah I'll give it a Try thanks okay cool I should get the I should get an
affiliate link from them yeah you can on Amazon I know um I should I'm an idiot who wants to who wants to set that up for me um who um who else has a question I got a roll I got a 3:30 meeting but I got time for one more if there's another one go sign up for my substack so we can stay in touch I write uh several times a week read them they're they're all about fear situational awareness training Training Ops and uh hopefully I'll see you at a um at an event I've
got you know my summer camp I do other training events uh you know but I but I do train at at blacksite every time they they host an event they just announce two or three more dates um and it's an amazing weekend I tell you what like I as a lifelong entrepreneur you I've been in business doing stuff since I'm 17 uh my favorite part is literally like The speakers and listening to Di and bed's talk and just being I'm always taking notes uh I'm always I'm always inspired I'm always fired up when I go
there it's good for you know get out of the house get to the ranch so is nice to clear your head be out in nature learn how to fight learn how to shoot think about cool [ __ ] and if there's no questions I'm going to let you go thank you for sharing your afternoon with me if you're In our time zone if you're overseas thank you for sharing your evening with me uh and um thank you to Dan and bados for organizing this [ __ ] and uh hit me up if you got a
question otherwise I'll see you uh I'll see you at the ranch one day peace out everyone take care e e e E e
