Was De La Hoya here tonight? He wasn't. And and I heard there's some rumblings for Let me Let me explain something to you.
I do not like De La Hoya and De La Hoya does not like me. We would never I would never disrespect him and say, "Oh, he shows up here and we treat him like shit. " I would call him on the phone and say, "Hey, don't [ __ ] show up to this event cuz we're not going to treat you well.
" Oscar wasn't here. Dana said he could have come if he wanted. It was I guess it was Oscar's choice not to be here.
Does that bother you that your [clears throat] promoter that you don't have to go back to work with didn't come to your fight? Um, I thought he was going to be here. They told me that he had a seat.
Um, and I actually invited him to walk walk out with me. I thought that was going to be iconic. Everybody was asking where he was and then just to have him walk out with me, I think would have been special, but it is what it is.
You know, it didn't happen. Um, I'm here just to do my job, bro. I don't really try to think of that too much, but you know, would it have been cool to see him there?
Yeah, Khan and then Dana White and that crew, but he was not going to be there and because he didn't have a credential There was a a legitimate security concern about trying to get him. They'd have to walk through the crowd with the ticket. That was not going to happen.
That's kind of a So, what you're getting at the long way around it is that Zufa basically made it almost impossible for him to operate the way he wanted so he would not show up. You know, Oscar not being there was a disgrace. I think, you know, it's Mexican Independence Day weekend.
I wish I could talk about it more. I've heard some things. I'll have to keep them to myself.
Um, but Oscar was is uh the greatest Mexican-American fighter this country's ever seen. And he is the promoter of the aside. And by the way, it is Oscar Dea 1, Dana White Zero in head-to-head between their fighters.
Ryan Garcia didn't just break his opponent in Las Vegas. He shattered his relationship with the legend who built him. When the reigning WBC welterweight champion stepped into the ring on Mexican Independence Day weekend, fans expected fireworks.
What they got was an explosive second round destruction of Connor Ben. Surrounded by a toxic war that left the boxing world completely stunned. The biggest story wasn't the knockout, but the glaringly empty VIP seat and a vicious power struggle tearing an empire apart.
Ryan, where's Oscar? Why Why hasn't Oscar kind of been around? [laughter] No, I I don't know, bro.
Probably at his house, Las Vegas, [laughter] chilling with Molly. Feel like the promotion around [laughter] I I feel like we're missing that part of the that's almost like the undercard of of this whole promotion. Everyone's waiting for him and Dana to get on stage.
Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I don't lie.
I would love to see him, but I don't know. I don't know what's going on there. Oh [ __ ] The violence inside the T-Mobile Arena barely lasted 4 minutes.
Right from the opening bell, Ben tried to overwhelm the champion with the ferocity he had promised all week. He bolted from his corner, forcing a frantic pace to drag the fight into deep waters, but the erratic strategy completely backfired. By the start of the second round, the champion had downloaded the timing perfectly.
As Ben rushed in to close the distance, he was met with a blinding, concussive right hand he never saw coming. The impact dropped him instantly. Even though the challenger stumbled to his feet, he was physically compromised.
The referee stepped in at the 1 minute and 25 second mark. A stoppage the victor fiercely defended. Amazing, bro.
Um, it's too fast, you know what I mean? Too fast. Great hook.
I think what people think when people go in there, they think that they can handle Ryan speed, but Ryan speed is on a different level. You know what I mean? And it's not He has power behind that speed, too.
So, he had a he had a great he had a great show, a great night, and, you know, I'm really proud of him. Boy, do you think the uh the stoppage came a little early? You thought it was No, I think he was I think Connor B.
He was he was hurt pretty bad. If he didn't stop then, he would have stopped in the next round. It looked like Ryan, you and him talked about May potentially doing a double header and him telling a little bit of Yeah.
So, [ __ ] Imagine that. David Benovas and Joai and Ryan Garcia versus Kilimo. I mean, it's it's it's a long shot.
I was I was talking to Dana White. We were talking to him about it. So, I mean, I don't know.
But you know, we're just trying to put in their ear and I'm see if anybody can make it possible, it's definitely Turkish. David, it it looked like um Ryan was fighting on the back foot waiting to try to get Connor to walk onto that left hook, but he ended up catching with the right again for the second five right third fight. I think that's just something really smart because Ryan Garcia, everybody's just looking out for his left hook.
That gives him opportunity to split the right, you know, with the right with the right uppercut. So, I mean, Ryan Garcia is just a dangerous fighter, bro. He throws everything fast.
He has great punch selection. He has good footwork, too. So, he's I don't see nobody beating him at all.
He He deliver He delivered on what he said he was going to do. He said he was going to knock him out in under five rounds. Yeah.
And then, um that's what makes superstars. You know, you call him out, you say you're going to do that, and he did it in the biggest stage. So, I'm really proud of him.
Moments before walking out to that massive crowd, a completely different battle was raging behind closed doors. The energy in the dressing room reached a terrifying level of intensity. The champion was so heavily locked in that the massive spike in adrenaline actually scared him.
To come down from the overwhelming edge, he resorted to playing worship music and praying. [music] [music] [music] Meanwhile, controversy was exploding on the other side of the arena. Whispers circulated that the British challenger blatantly refused to step on the fight night scale.
Rumors suggested an extreme rehydration tactic pushed his weight to a massive 178 lbs. The champion dismissed the stunt entirely, outright accusing his opponent of lying to hide the truth. He look good.
I mean, we don't really make too much out of it. It's not really that big of a deal. That brain can't rehydrate, though.
That's right. The body can't. Remember that.
Henry, what's your final prediction? We're going to stop him. What round?
Six. Six rounds. Okay.
Five. Dia Garcia, what do you think? Five.
He's going to win. He's going to win. Okay.
How did Conor Ben look? They were making so much about his weight cut. He had to lose a lot of weight.
How did he look to you? Did he look good? He looked a little weak, but he looks good.
He's But so a monumental victory on a legendary weekend usually means a massive celebration with your team. But the champion's phone remained absolutely silent from one specific person. Originally, the walkout was designed to be a historic iconic moment.
The plan was to march to the ring flanked by Mexican boxing royalty, specifically Julio Cesar Chavez and his own promoter Oscar de la Hoya. At some point leading up to the fight, and this was communicated to me by Golden Boy Promotions, and I've heard it also elsewhere, that Ryan Garcia, because of his insecurities about people accepting him as a Mexican or even being a Mexican-American because he doesn't speak Spanish, the idea, whether it was his team or Ryan, the plan was we invited Julio Cesar Chavez, the greatest Mexican fighter of all time, to walk him to the ring in conjunction with Oscar de La Hoya, his promoter and arguably the greatest Mexican-American fighter of all time. And to have the two of those men walk him out to the ring in front of all those Mexican fans that were filling this the T-Mobile Arena on Mexican Independence Day, the feeling was if I'm being walked out by these legends, one Mexican, one Mexican-American, that these people will embrace me for my culture.
I thought that's obviously a really good idea. Made a lot of sense. Um, and so Oscar, I mean that was, if you watch Oscar's Instagram, he made, he's only had one thing to say the whole leadup.
Basically, he made a very brief video on, I believe it was on Thursday, maybe it was on Friday, saying, "We got a big surprise for you. " Uh, I am told that was the surprise he was referencing that I'm going to be there to uh be part of Ryan Garcia walking into the ring. [snorts] So, what happened?
So, what happened was on Saturday morning, the day of the fight, it was communicated by team Garcia. Uh, I am told by his adviser, manager, lawyer, Lupe Valencia, that Ryan had changed his mind. Whether it was him that changed his mind or somebody else that changed it and didn't tell him, I don't know that there you're no longer we we're going to go do a different thing with the walk out.
Now, Julio Cesar Chavez senior had his son Julio Jr. and his other son, Omar Chavez, were fighting uh in Mexico on on uh on Saturday night. So, I don't know if Chavez had accepted the invitation in the first place or not.
Um, in any event, if you watch the fight, you saw that what happened. He walked into the ring with Marco Antonio Barrera, obviously an all-time great Mexican fighter. He was also there with the WWE superstar, Rey Mysterio, a Mexican.
Not lost on me that Zufa Boxing is owned by the same team that owns WWE. So Rey Mysterio, you know, certainly uh when you've got people like from WWE there like Triple H and Nick Khan and and those folks, certainly getting Rey Mysterio on the phone or to see if he wants to come out to the fight probably wouldn't be very difficult. Instead, the Golden Boy completely vanished.
There was no ringside appearance and there wasn't even a quick text message to say congratulations. Oscar wasn't here. Dana said he could have come if he wanted.
It was I guess it was Oscar's choice not to be here. Does that bother you that your promoter that you don't have to go back to work with didn't come to your fight? Um, I thought he was going to be here.
They told me that he had a seat. Um, and I actually invited him to walk walk out with me. I thought that was going to be iconic.
Everybody was asking where he was and then just to have him walk out with me, I think would have been special. But it is what it is. You know, it didn't happen.
Um, I'm here just to do my job, bro. I don't really try to think of that too much, but you know, would it have been cool to see him there? Yeah.
The total ghosting left a bitter taste, prompting the champion to publicly exposed the absence, branding the legendary promoter as immature and missing a piece of his soul. You know, Oscar not being there was a disgrace. I think, you know, it's Mexican Independence Day weekend.
I wish I could talk about it more. I've heard some things I'll have to keep them to myself. Um, but Oscar was is uh the greatest Mexican-American fighter this country's ever seen and he is the promoter of the aside.
And by the way, it is Oscar DA one Dana White zero in headto head between their fighters even if uh that relationship him and Ryan is not long for this world. But Oscar, one of the greatest Mexican the Mexican fighters of Mexican descent, period, and the the greatest Mexican-American fighter of all time, having the aside fighter in this fight, seemingly being barred all week long from the fight is a disgrace. And even to add another layer to it, on the 25th anniversary of 9/11 when Oscar de la Hoya represented this country and won a gold medal in the 1992 Olympics for the United States and then knocked out Fernando Vargas wearing a 9/11 uh patch on his trunks with both the Mexican and the American flag when he knocked out Vargas on the one-year anniversary in 2002.
for him to be barred from this when he's the one who has promoted from scratch in the in the professional boxing realm because I know Ryan Garcia is a very good self-promoter but being the boxing promoter for the entirety of Ryan Garcia's career and being barred from this fight uh was a just when the narrative seemed one-sided a totally different version of that morning's events leaked out to control the damage executives from Golden Boy Promotions quickly went on the defensive their director of communications took to social media to reveal a shocking twist, claiming the Champions camp changed their minds at the absolute last minute. According to this alternative story, the team decided to ditch the legendary walkout plan entirely, opting to bring out WWE superstar Rey Mysterio and Marco Antonio Barrera instead. Adding to the chaos, rampant rumors flooded the internet that the promoter wasn't just absent by choice, but was actually denied a credential and banned from the building.
Now, for this one with the corner bench, so I can imagine that they did. And Oscar might take his seat this time. Do you know what I mean?
I don't think he was there at the weekend, was he? But he might take a seat for this fight if it's Tioimo Lopez. You never know.
He was not there. But there's the whole story behind that. But uh I tell you what, people, if they I'm going to give a little plug.
You want to hear the reasons because it's too long to get into, go listen to my podcast that posted on Sunday night and we went through the whole situation about why Oscar was not present. Can you can you summarize? I'll summarize by saying that he was not credentialed by Zufa, but he was not banned.
He was given a ticket, but it was not in the right location. He was he had no access to anything. They just wanted to have to walk through the public.
Uh there were some security concerns. His staff was not credentialed. It was a big mess.
So when Dana White goes in his postfight press conference and says, "No, we didn't ban Oscar De Laoya," he's not lying. But he's also omitting the part where they they failed to credential him even though he's the promoter of Ryan Garcia. Not to mention that he had a fight on the undercard which turned out in my opin opinion to be the fight of the night, the welterweight slugfest between Alexis Roachcha and Jose Ramirez which Zufa uh you know jammed into like the second fight of the show which was absolutely ridiculous.
The only reason it wasn't the first fight of the show was because Ryan's little brother Shawn Garcia was fighting in the first one and that by having him open the show it gave Henry Garcia their father the chance to go work Shawn's corner and deal with that and then get that out of the way. Shawn won his fight and then go back and and get Ryan ready for the main event. So, uh, it was a big cluster [ __ ] Well, listen, like you said, if you behind the scenes, this entire event resembled a hostile takeover rather than a unified promotion.
The bitter, long-standing blood feud between Dana White and the Golden Boy finally reached a boiling point. Earlier in the year, legal cease and desist letters were thrown around in a desperate attempt to stop this exact matchup from happening. Oh, I can't imagine how [ __ ] disappointed Paramount is.
But there are contracts in place. You can't just do whatever you want here in America. There are laws and legally binding contracts.
Turkey and Salah, you can't call up any fighter you want and make a fight. You can't put fights on any network you want. That's why you're getting sued left and right.
It's why you wanted to call a peace meeting with Frank and Eddie over a war that you started. And by the way, you left me, Al Haymon, and Bob Arum out of your peace meeting. And guess what?
We control the US market. Bob Arum said the other day he thinks your brother Dana White is a cancer in the sport of boxing. And everyone agrees he's terrible.
All he does is [ __ ] the UFC fighters. And you want to replicate that model in boxing? You think that's a good idea?
I mean, come on, dude. Oh, and Uncle Fester, [ __ ] you. And don't forget to give me a call about Ryan Garcia because guess what?
You [ __ ] legally have to remember kids, you're never a hater if you only speak the facts. When financial backers forced a shotgun wedding between the companies, the tension was unbearable. While White coldly denied banning anyone from the arena during the post-fight press conference, the power dynamic was incredibly clear.
The fighter praised the UFC boss for delivering the smoothest week of his entire career, completely sidelining the man who had guided his professional journey. All right, I'm going to start with Noce UFC. The attendance there was 16,928 sold out.
The gate was uh 4. 4 4 million. It's the arena record.
We broke our own uh record at the arena. It's the highest uh United States Fight Night gate ever. Now, let's get to this event.
Uh the gate was $8 million. 18,855 sold out. Fight of the night, Gonzalez Solomon.
Uh Molina and Mazi performance of the night. They won the bonuses. Congrats to them.
Day wanted to start off with the main event. Obviously a disappointing night for Connor Ben, but Ryan Garcia, what a performance from him. What did you think of the main event tonight?
What do I think of the main event? Garcia looked incredible and you know, he did everything he said he was going to do. What did you think of the stoppage?
There's a bit of debate. It looked like Connor was still okay on his feet, was weaving and dodging. What did you think of the stoppage?
Did I think that what what did you think of the stoppage? The stoppage? Yeah.
I mean, it wasn't a horrible stoppage. Could it have gone on uh you know a couple more minutes probably? But what happens with Ryan now?
I know he has one more fight with Golden Boy. Does he go and do that and then he's a free agent and you want to bring him to zoo for boxing? What happens with Ryan now?
Yeah, I don't know. We'll see how this whole thing plays out. He has one more fight with De La Hoya.
" That was not the case. Why he didn't show up, I don't know. With the British challenger out of the way and his own promotional ties hanging by a thread, the champion immediately painted a massive target on the backs of the three most dangerous men in the sport.
The post-fight interview quickly turned into a ruthless hit list. He promised to physically destroy Devon Haney on Cinco to Mayo vowing to inflict so much damage it would force a permanent retirement. I'm not even gonna get into that.
I want to tell Fimma Lopez if if he could beat some people, let him beat Liam Parro, let him do what he does. And if you really want to meet it and and just gamble it all, all the belts, let's gamble. Put it all on the line again.
Let's do it. But I'm not coming to [ __ ] around with you again. I'm telling you, I'm going to put that fear in you again.
I'm going to take everything away from you again. And you're gonna be terrified again. I'm not playing.
Look at my eyes. I'm not playing with you. It's gonna be even worse this time for what you did worse.
I'm gonna hurt you bad. There you have it. He then aimed at Terrence Crawford, exposing the undefeated stars retirement as an illusion fueled by hidden jealousy.
Finally, he mocked Jervant Davis, claiming the knockout artist was showing genuine fear about moving up in weight. Hourgo. Jervante, cool, but you don't want the smoke.
What's up with you? I went to 136. You can't come to 47.
Don't be shaky now. I need that if you want it. If not, there's nothing to be said.
And so, is this something you're you're looking for as well? Oh, I want that, man. I want to clean that up.
Uh, he don't want it, though. He knows it. He knows I'm a bad man.
He don't want me at 147. So, there's really nothing to be said. I mean, cool.
You got me at 136. Get me at 147. Prove to me that you really like that.
He does. He doesn't want to prove to himself. He doesn't want to prove it to me.
He doesn't he he's a little bit of kind of scared. I ain't going to lie. He's showing a little bit fear.
Have you tried Have you Have you reached out to his his side? Have there been any attempts to make this? Um there's nothing that really made me pull the trigger on it because he's like not giving me any indication he wants it, you know?
It's kind of like uh I'll go to 140 but not 47. It's like okay, bro. So, you're basically like saying, "Nah, I'm cool.
I don't want to give the rematch. " And, you know, I'm gonna escape with this this aster victory is how I see it. The dominant victory generated immense momentum, but the next calculated move could completely rewrite the business of combat sports.
The reality of the contract situation is shocking. Only one fight remains under the Golden Boy banner, making the fighter an impending free agent with all the leverage in the world. Rather than waiting around, the plan is to stay fiercely active.
A quick winter tuneup against a rugged contender is already being plotted for December or January. This aggressive timeline sets the stage for an absolute mega fight in the spring, effectively closing the chapter on an old promotional era. And so you have one fight left with him, but my understanding is that that fight is also with Turkey as well, right?
Um yes. Yes. So we have one more fight under the Golden Boy banner.
We have another fight contractly obligated with uh ring. Yeah. Uh basically Turkey and that's where I'm at.
That's the landscape now. So we'll see. I I kind of want to get in the ring either December or January.
That's kind of where I'm looking at. So just trying to understand the one fight with Golden Boy, is that exclusive from the one fight with Turkey or can they both happen and both be fulfilled on the same night? Uh, from my understanding, it could both be fulfilled that same night.
In other words, you could fight, your next fight could be Cinco de Mayo, and that could be another Zufa event. Yes, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to get in the ring before that. Okay.
You think December? Yeah. Why not?
You're good, right? You're not You're not banged up. Not at all.
I uh hurt my hand more so fighting somebody on Sunday night. Who's that? Uh the homie.
He wanted that work. I still had energy. I was like, "Let's get it.
" What do you mean? What do you mean? Who's the homie?
We just started brawling in the in the room. Like a friend of yours? Yeah.
He just wanted the smoke. Yeah, we was both lit and he wanted that work, so I gave him it. Bare Knuckle.
Bare Knuckle. Who's the guy? Is he a fighter?
Nah, but he wanted the smoke dust. Who won? What?
Who won? Come on now. Don't ask that question.
Knockout. Uh, easy work. Okay.
And is your is your hand okay? Yeah, of course, bro. A couple couple little scratches.
