after getting the news i didn't get that could you try again oh my god she kago hi guys what's up and welcome back to my channel my name is amanda and i'm moving to chicago this summer so in today's video i have a chicago apartment hunting tour video for you guys if you guys are wondering why i'm moving to chicago this summer i have a little get ready with me life update in the description bar down below before we get into the tours i'm going to give you guys a little rundown of what we were
actually looking for in the buildings first of all we were looking for a two-bedroom we wanted parking because i'm gonna have to drive it to and from my job in different locations third we wanted a good pool a good gym and just good amenities overall and four we wanted to be downtown chicago we wanted to be in the heart of it all you know like in the hustle and bustle the safe part apartment number one was located in river north which is a very safe part of the city downtown just like we wanted and right
on the river unfortunately they didn't have a two-bedroom to show us because they were all occupied so we saw a one bedroom and it was totally fine because we still got to see the finishes of everything and got a basic idea of what the layout and the view would be like without further ado here's the first apartment this is the first floor lounge area people like to work here and hang out and then we're going to go over to the pool area it's obviously covered because it's winter time and it's cold but there's some cabanas
out there it looked really nice and here is a nice view of the green river it was st patrick's day when we visited so it's nice and green this is a co-ed office working area she said people like to go here and just do some work from home again it's right on the river so it's really nice views feels really open little conference rooms you can go work in and then there's also this little fun room hidden in the back and it was a little virtual golf room also a little bar and tv just a
fun little amenity space next we went up about 20 or 30 floors so what i think they called the sky lounge this is just another area that you can go hang out with your friends do some work do whatever you need to do which is a really nice open space with some 360 views of the city just felt really nice and open i would feel super productive working on something there like editing a youtube video or doing whatever i needed to do for social media there then we checked out more of the outdoor area and
she said that this is like a nice little patio area in the summer you can go cook out with your friends she also said they have great community events in the summer just a way to like make friends with your neighbors and kind of just socialize with people in your building we noticed there were lots of 20 to 30 year olds in the building which is something we were looking for next we went to probably my favorite part of the whole entire apartment complex and it was the gym this gym had the best panoramic views
of the city i've ever seen i would honestly just feel so inspired to work out every single day the gym is 24 7 and she also said they offer two free workout classes a week and i love group fitness they also had a sauna and some yoga studios different places you can do your stretches that was the best gym i have ever been to in my life walking into the actual unit there was a pantry on the right and then the kitchen on the left beautiful countertops and there were the soft closing drawers and doors
that i absolutely loved and then it's an open floor plan into the living room and an island so i just really love this whole entire layout the part that i was most excited for was the floor to ceiling windows that was always just a huge dream of mine to live in an apartment with floor to ceiling windows views were amazing like literally right on the river i just couldn't ask for any any better view chicago i thought it was absolutely perfect then moving on we had an in-unit washer and dryer in that closet and then
you walk in to the bathroom super standard kind of small had a nice big standing shower and then just typical typical bathroom very nice walk into the bedroom and honestly it was kind of small little little compact bedroom um but again those floor to ceiling windows just make it all the better i don't even mind could fit like i think she said that was a double bed i think it was a double bed there was also a really nice closet i wasn't mad about that one really great for a one bed and here's just a
nice little overview we were really digging this and loved how they decorated it once we heard the price of a two-bedroom apartment we were like are we over our heads yes yes we are but you guys saw the amenities the whole place was resort worthy so we were like all right it was a good first one to see like goals you know um but then we're like all right let's see more and maybe something that's more in our budget right apartment number two was also in river north and unfortunately they also did not have a
two bedroom to show us so we got to see the one bedroom so without further ado here is apartment number two first you walk into a nice lobby area then we went into the amenity areas and in the back there was a kitchen there with a little lounging space and then the other side was more like a quieter study area you could go do some work in or do whatever you want to do in there then we stepped outside and saw the outdoor amenity area which was super nice i really liked this space it felt
super open and there were all these grilles lined up on the side here so you could just go have a gorilla with your friends there were cabanas everywhere this one didn't have a main pool which i thought was interesting but they did have a giant jacuzzi so i guess that was your pool and then there was also another bar right there you walk into a little lounge area and then all the gym equipment is lined up on both sides there aren't like amazing views like the last one but it was definitely a nice gym and
then they also had these little workout rooms then we headed up to the actual unit and we love the light gray finishes on the cabinets and the floors it made it feel really open and bright it was this open floor plan from the kitchen to the living room and then there were these two huge big open windows on both sides of the apartment which is essential for us because we're going to be creating and filming in that apartment so that's kind of a huge factor for us actually is good lighting we had a little pantry
right off the kitchen and then you start going into the bathroom and bedroom i really like this bedroom it was a little bit bigger than apartment number one it was pretty standard huge walk-in closet which was pretty essential for me and ashley because we're going to be sharing this apartment and we have a lot of stuff and clothes and filming equipment and whatnot so having two closets in this room was definitely pretty cool and then just a small standard bathroom i liked apartment number two but it wasn't anything super special obviously it was very very
nice but going from apartment number one to apartment number two you were kind of like oh this isn't as cool i didn't like the gym as much i thought it was okay but there wasn't like the really cool views like number one had after talking to the girl apartment number two we realized that the two bedroom downtown chicago with the amenities that we wanted were not really in our price range now we went into this thinking that there were going to be some cova deals maybe like a one month free rent or something because i
had friends that had just gotten those deals like during covet and i was hoping that was still happening yeah that's not happening anymore the market is whoa it's on the it's on the skyrocket no deals after getting the news that we were going to be getting a kova deal we decided to get a little bit crafty we wanted to live in a high rise in this city so bad and we decided to start looking for a one bedroom unit and our idea was to just split it into a two bed but our idea was that
like we're gonna be mostly in the amenity areas or out working anyways so the new plan was to start looking at one bedroom units so she kindly gave us a contact to a broker and he started looking for apartments for us where maybe he could find that good deal like that one apartment that's just trying to get rid of a unit uh for cheaper so we had him looking for us we were so thankful and that was awesome but we also had other tours planned and so we were still going with those so that brings
us to apartment number three and this one was located on the west loop so without further ado here is apartment number three starting in the lobby it was gorgeously decorated and i remember it smelled so good in there then we made our way into the gym and there were lots of windows lining the walls for a lot of natural light which i think is essential and then they had these little patios you could go out on and do your outdoor workouts lots of gym equipment and overall i really liked this gym then we made our
way into the community area and they have this little 24 7 market so if you ever need a snack or a drink you can just head there for convenience they had a little co-ed working space and with a couple computers and then i was looking out to the pool area speaking of the pool area that was the best pool that i had seen through the whole entire trip it was five star resort quality so gorgeous cabana's big pool such a vibe such a vibe then we made our way into the game area more of a
community space as well and she said they had a lot of community events that went on there so you could make some friends with your neighbors and then they had a little kitchen tucked away in the corner so you could either rent that out for private parties or just use it as your leisure then we made our way to the actual unit and we had that open floor plan again from the kitchen to the living room we were seeing that was pretty common we had some darker finishes for this unit uh floor-to-ceiling windows again which
you guys know that i love by now and then we made our way over into the actual bedroom and it was very tiny like literally you could fit a bed and a side table and that's it had the floor ceiling windows again though so i love the city views kind of makes up for it a little bit the closet was decent but mean actually would have had to share that closet which would have been a problem walking to the bathroom it was modern and new very bright spacious and i really like that bathroom we had
an in-unit washer and dryer which we kept seeing throughout all the units that was never really a problem for us and then another pantry or coat closet and then this is just an overview of the unit super cute we spent a lot of extra time asking questions in this apartment building because we were really liking what we were seeing especially the amenity areas i loved that outdoor pool area we left this apartment feeling really good but we are also super excited to see what the broker had come up with that brings us to apartment number
four and this one was located in printers row we were told that this is a really great area very safe pretty and a lot of 20 to 30 year olds live around this area really excited to see this one the lobby was nothing special so we started in the amenity area first there is a community kitchen you can either rent out or just use if it's open and then there was a huge sun deck for you to go out on there are some amazing vast views but i felt like it was very dead and full
of construction so it's not like a beautiful view of the city until you go to the side that's where you see like the chicago city skyline with the river next we checked out the gym and there were floor to ceiling windows a lot of natural light coming in it was very open and spacious the views out the window were to the pool area and that's what we ended up checking out next this little lounge area had a projector for movies and then the view was construction once again going more into the pool area they had
little tvs set up every so often with a sink so you could make some food and hang out with your friends there and then this was the actual pool i thought it was pretty nice they had some cabanas set up and the shape of the pool and the hot tub was so cool i just really wasn't loving the views but i understand that's getting nitpicky this was a nice area next we moved on to one of those virtual golf rooms i feel like all the apartments had that and then we moved on into a music
amenity room which we probably would not have used next we moved into this big community work table great views natural light but it was also a craft room and there was finger paint everywhere obviously kids were there painting that's when we started getting the feeling that this was a very kid-centric building and it's not really something that me and ashley were interested in because we wanted people that were more our age so we could make friends and connect that way as you can see there is literally a game room there were these little cubbies where
you could go play video games in the dark like it was so so concentric that we were like i don't know about it but we saw the units anyways so this is the first layout there was in-unit washer and dryer then you walk into the bathroom it was super nice i love that giant standing shower and then you go through this little hallway area of two closets so the first one on the right was a little bit of a smaller like coat closet and then you look on the left and there's a giant walk-in closet
which would be so perfect for me and ashley to share each of us could just take a level of the closet and we would be perfectly fine and then you walk in to the bedroom area and it was kind of small but not terrible and then there was a pretty nice city river view and then to the left there a tower would have been going up like pretty tall so that view would have been blocked the kitchen area was pretty small minimal counter space and then this would have been the second bedroom it was super
small smaller than the actual bedroom and there was also this slant in the room that would have made furniture configuration a little strange but there was a nice river view overall this apartment was just small next we check out a second layout in the same building so you first walk in and you have the bathroom have that large standing shower once again and then you walk over to the in unit washer and dryer and there was also a little area for your coats which was nice so then you walk in and there's a little den
area to the left so we could have a little eating table there for example and then there was also a little coat closet walking in to the right you have the living room and to the left is the bedroom so the bedroom had lots of natural lighting it was a very nice layout i thought and then a pretty decent sized closet and this unit had a nice view of the skyline i thought it was really pretty no blocked views making our way into the kitchen we had a lot more cabinet and counter space and overall
this room was just larger than the first unit and there was not that weird slant like the last one and then we had great natural lighting in both of the rooms which would be our bedrooms after we finished touring apartment number four we decided that we didn't want to keep looking anymore because we couldn't get apartment number one out of our heads so since we started touring so early they didn't even have any available units for us to sign for yet so we were just put on a waiting list for the time being a month
later i reached back out and asked if any units were available yet and she did send me a couple options unfortunately we did not like the unit options at all because of the location a huge skyscraper had just gone up right next to this apartment building so we would have been looking directly at a commercial office building and we wouldn't have had that city or river view and no natural lighting so it was kind of a deal breaker for us we had those other apartment options that i just showed you guys in this video but
we wanted to see if the broker could find another unit that was even better by the next morning he had already sent us the perfect unit unfortunately we couldn't do an in-person tour because the units go so fast that by the time we got to chicago again the unit would have been gone and it wouldn't even been an option anymore so we were sent a couple videos of the layout and we saw videos of the whole entire apartment building as a whole and we decided that it was a perfect fit for us i'm super excited
