[Music] in this video i'm going to tell you about the three best books that i've ever read on the subject of health and longevity but before i do please subscribe to the channel like the video if you haven't already and comment on the video for the sake of the algorithm now let's get started the first book that i want to recommend is written in a slightly academic sense it's quite dense and it's extremely comprehensive it's really a bird's-eye view on the field of longevity on the history of it and on the future of the field
as well as the current goings-on in the in the field this book is called lifespan it's written by david sinclair a head of a research group at harvard which is one of the most prolific research groups in the world on the subject of longevity and he's also one of the foremost researchers in the world on the subject of sirtuins and he has his own view his own theory of aging called the information theory of aging based off shannon's information theory historically now the great thing about the lifespan book is that if you're interested in the
research of the field and what may happen in the future and if you're interested in getting really a fundamental understanding of the field this is the book that i'd start with it's a little bit difficult to get through if you're not used to reading these types of dense books but it's well worth it the second book that i'd like to recommend is far less dense this book is really written for a common audience and it's really written to be practical and to help people with their own health the book is called the longevity diet and
it's written by one of the world's foremost researchers on the subject of fasting his name is walter longo and he's the head of the school of gerontology at usc it was formerly at ucla now this book is much easier to read it's a bit long-winded because it's so the opposite of sinclair's density and the information it provides but the information is really excellent it's a great book for a beginner in the field to get started with to start to understand why do we have certain ideas about the way certain foods we eat influence our longevity
and so on the focus of the book is mainly diet and fasting walter longu is far more risk averse than david sinclair in his approaches to longevity and so this book is really a book i would trust to give to my family members to incorporate all of the advice and not be fearful that they may be harming themselves at all finally the third book i'd like to recommend it's not so dense and not so academic but it's a little bit denser than the longevity diet by walter longo this book is called the circadian code by
sachin panda sachin panda not his full first name it's a little bit longer and i can't really pronounce it but sachin panda is the father of circadian rhythm research he's a leader of a research group at the salk institute he's really considered to be the foremost expert on the subject of circadian rhythms in our body and this book basically synopsizes 30 years worth of research on the subject to give you practical tips to live a better life by obeying your circadian rhythms and optimizing your lifestyle toward their interest in particular i'd like to offer a
note to people with autoimmune diseases sachin panda's book was instrumental in me overcoming my own uh not overcoming but dealing with my symptoms of crohn's disease to the sense that i don't get any symptoms anymore but you know it's hard to say you've overcome an autoimmune disease nonetheless these three books are really excellent i'm going to leave you guys some links in the description of the video below so that you can access them directly let me know how you found the books i bet if you read these three books and haven't already they will be
transformative uh for the way you think about health and longevity in the future thank you guys so much for bearing with me and i'll see you again soon [Music] you
