There is an a race for president of the United States. The current sitting president is running for reelection. Three and a half months from the election, he decides not to run.
The sitting vice president then takes the mantle running against a former president of the United States who had been running for 10 years with 107 days. People didn't used to get sick of the candidates because you barely ever saw them unless you happened to be standing at the back end of a train. But now we never stop seeing them.
The winner in modern elections comes down to who we're less tired of. Bill Maher just went full fireworks on Kla Harris, and it was pure comedy gold. The bold host tore apart Harris's confusion and disconnect, saying she's still totally out of touch with everyday people.
Mars roast was sharp, energetic, and absolutely hilarious. You've got to watch this. When Joe Biden was still hanging on to be the candidate, many of the pundits said that to switch him out this late would cause chaos.
Yeah, that was never my position. And indeed, what happened was Kla Harris said, "Oh, look. I guess it's my turn.
" And the next day, a grateful nation handed her $500 million. The only reason we stay stuck in permanent campaign mode is money. It's estimated this year that $16 billion will be spent on political ads.
It's time we admit that the endless campaign exists only to enrich advertisers, political consultants, and what's left of the news media. The DNC never fully thought through the risks before choosing Kla Harris as their 2024 nominee. The problems actually began long before that.
Joe Biden refused to step aside early, and the party kept backing him until his disastrous debate pushed everyone into panic mode. When Harris was suddenly pushed into the spotlight, party leaders tried to cover the chaos with a huge pile of cash, hoping money alone would steady the campaign, but it hardly helped. The extra funding didn't fix the message, calm voter worries, or rebuild trust.
In the end, it felt like a rushed gamble with no clear plan for holding on to power. And the fact that we're just getting to know Kamla isn't bad. It's great.
Great for her, great for the country. People didn't used to get sick of the candidates because you barely ever saw them unless you happen to be standing at the back end of a train, but now we never stop seeing them. The winner in modern elections comes down to who we're less tired of.
They're just constantly on us. TV, radio, the mail, on our phones, texting. Hey, Bill.
Tim Walls here. You up? They're everywhere.
all the time. Jesus Christ, off. Let mommy put her purse down.
Mah pushes back hard against Kla Harris's defenders who claim voters didn't have enough time to get to know her because the campaign was short. But Mar isn't buying it, and honestly, it's a weak excuse. Harris had nearly $500 million to work with, an enormous budget by any standard.
She poured massive amounts of money into constant ads, celebrity shoutouts, and perfectly staged events. A-list stars with huge followings blasted her face and slogans all over social media. Lack of visibility wasn't the problem.
If anything, it was too much. Voters saw plenty of Kamla, her message, her branding, and her entire presentation. The real issue, as Mah points out, is that people were already worn out by her long before election day.
Vice President Paris in her new book said it was quote recklessness for former President Biden's allies to leave the decision about running for reelection up to him and his family. Do you agree with her? Was it recklessness?
Look, I wasn't there Kristen on this and I think uh the president again got us through co ushered us through brought the economy back from the edge. I think there's questions about this and I want to be very clear I I on me talking about the MRI. Um, agism [music] is a real thing.
Abbleism is a real thing that we need to be careful of with people and I think Donald Trump made a cottage industry out of attacking Joe Biden's competency and and it seemed like that got reported a lot. Here we go with the dodging again. The question was straightforward yet Tim Walls bent around it like he was performing in a political talent show.
Kamla Harris had already made her stance clue. She blamed Joe Biden's inner circle for letting the decision to stay in the race fall entirely on Biden and basically his family. In her view, they should have stepped in earlier, taken responsibility, and saved the party from the chaos that followed.
In short, Harris sees Biden's hesitation and slow decision-making as a key reason for her loss. But instead of addressing that directly, Tim Walsh shifts the blame to Donald Trump, as if Trump somehow engineered the Democrats internal meltdown. It's a textbook case of deflection.
And an easy way to avoid admitting the dysfunction came from inside their own camp. Now, whether that decision should have been made sooner, I history will determine that. What I do know is is that going forward, we need somebody in office who's actually going to tackle the things Americans need.
whether it's about costs or whether it's about our national security needs and honoring those with our allies. And and I think uh maybe there's a lesson to be learned from what happened with uh uh President Biden. If that's the case, it should certainly be applied right now to this president who is putting Americans at risk, is reckless, and is not doing what he's asked to do.
And here we are again with the predictable obsession with Trump. For some reason, these commentators just can't leave him out of the discussion, even when he has nothing to do with it. But did you catch the quiet slip in Tim Walls's comments?
While taking his usual swipe at Trump, he also subtly threw Joe Biden under the bus. When Walls said there was a lesson to be learned from Biden, it wasn't a compliment. It was a hint that Biden mishandled the transition and should have stepped aside much earlier.
It's an indirect way of repeating the growing Democratic criticism that Biden's delay and slow decision-making helped sink the party. So, while Walls tried to distract everyone with another Trump mention, he accidentally strengthened the very point Harris and others have been making all along. Former Vice President Kla Harris has left the door open to potentially run for office again.
Do you still think she's the strongest person to run for president in 2028? Well, I'm glad she's out there and I'm glad a whole lot of other people are out there because I think Donald Trump sucks up so much oxygen. We need to have the Democratic party out on the field.
The broad inclusive Democratic party talking about making life more affordable, talking about protecting freedoms. And I think Kla Harris does a wonderful job with that. If she chooses to run, that betters all of us.
We will have the process. We'll go through. I'm sure there'll be a lot of folks throw their, you know, their hat into the ring.
Uh but that's good. and we need to make sure that we're providing the alternative that America's asking for. Now, it's pretty clear why Kla Harris chose Tim Walls as her running mate.
Just like her, he's great at dodging direct questions, treating honesty like it's something dangerous. When he was asked a simple yes or no question about whether Harris would be a strong candidate in 2028, he couldn't give a straight answer. And that hesitation speaks volumes.
It points to one of two things. Either he doubts Harris's chances in the future, or he's leaving room for the next big Democrat to step in. I'm leaning toward the first.
Harris's rough 2024 run already damaged her credibility, and quiet talk inside the Democratic party suggested she'd be a weak option for 2028. Waltz knows that, too. His dodge wasn't just caution.
It was a subtle signal that the party is already moving on from Harris, even if no one wants to say it out loud. And I think she had a message last year that I'm proud of. I think did it break through enough?
Obviously not. But it's still a message that works. Making sure that America is affordable for all.
People feel included and we tackle the toughest problem. That's exactly Mar's point. Most Americans just couldn't connect with Camela Harris because her message never felt real or relevant to their daily lives.
It wasn't for lack of opportunity. She had plenty of interviews, rallies, televised speeches, and national moments where everyone was watching. Yet, instead of offering clear, grounded arguments, Harris often slipped into long stretches of confusing word salad and baffling logic.
Viewers didn't walk away inspired. They walked away trying to figure out what she even meant. Mars critique hits deeper than jokes.
Communication isn't just talking, it's making people feel understood. Harris often came across as distant, scripted, or stuck in loops of vague rhetoric that aimed for death but landed empty. Many Americans simply gave up trying to follow her.
And when a politician's message becomes a puzzle, voters move on. Mah wasn't exaggerating. He was calling out a real frustration Harris never overcame.
What was the primary reason do you think that you lost? There are many factors I think that that played into the outcome of that election. But I think probably one of the biggest in my mind is we just didn't have enough time.
We didn't have enough time. We didn't have enough time. No.
And you know, I mean, one of the reasons I wrote the book is um this is unprecedented. Think about this that there's an a race for president of the United States. The current sitting president is running for reelection.
Three and a half months from the election. He decides not to run. The sitting vice president then takes the mantle, running against a former president of the United States who had been running for 10 years with 107 days.
At this point, many critics see Kamala Harris as someone who tweaks her message to fit her campaign narrative. Her recent claim that Donald Trump had an advantage as a former president doesn't hold up. Harris herself was the sitting vice president while running, which should have given her at least as much, if not more, political clout.
The irony grows when you consider what she conveniently leaves out about her own role in the Biden administration. Critics point out that Democrats spent years attacking Trump with investigations, legal battles, and non-stop scrutiny that shaped the election landscape. They questioned his fitness, mocked him, dismissed his supporters, and painted him as a national threat.
Those narratives and scandals dominated the campaign. For Harris to now suggest Trump had an unfair edge as misleading at best. Another example of shifting blame instead of owning her own failed strategy.
Another piece of what is unprecedented and a bit historical about that race, it is the closest presidential race in the 21st century in terms of the outcome. Wow. Yeah.
Because you know, say that again cuz he likes to say over and over again, he's got a mandate. And well, and that's part of why I wrote this book because history will talk about this race. It is part of American history.
Mhm. And it was important to me that when history is written that my voice be present. Sometimes it's hard to understand the applause for Kla Harris since she rarely offered anything truly clear or grounded.
But the bigger picture is Trump's 2024 win, which had more to do with results than rhetoric. He captured 312 electoral votes to Harris's 226, won the national popular vote for the first time in 20 years, and benefited from shifting demographics and voter trends. Exit polls showed he gained support among several minority groups and new or returning voters frustrated by economic issues like inflation and the rising cost of living.
For many Americans, his victory wasn't just about admiration for Trump. It was a rejection of the status quo, economic uncertainty, and dissatisfaction with the party in power. Meanwhile, Harris struggled to connect, communicate, or persuade voters.
Applause and celebrity endorsements couldn't fix her vague messaging, confusing delivery, and unfocused campaign. Trump, on the other hand, turned a frustrated electorate, economic worries, and changing voter coalitions into a decisive win. His victory wasn't just a political comeback.
It reflected a broader rejection of the country's current direction, proving that clarity, momentum, and strategy ultimately decided the outcome.
