[Music] thank you for joining the northern minor here at the annual pdac convention in Toronto is Dr Keith Baron the CEO of orania resources on the trail of his next Discovery here to tell us more about it is the man himself thanks for making time to join me well thank you so much for having me all right on the trail to the next Discovery well maybe we made the next Discovery I've got something sitting here between us you'll have to do a closeup on this later but um this is a piece of quartz Vain and
it's from Britany in northern France Britany is near the channel Isles um and it contains 46% gold wow that translates to 46,000 grams per ton that's amazing that's Bonanza Bonanza grade hey nobody has seen anything like that in this country in Canada it's the ch's mine uh in the 1930s up in Timmons all right yeah yeah but it's it's fantastic stuff now it's a curious Story how this all came about uh I saw a piece of rock very similar to this quartz Vin uh in the Natural History Museum in Paris it's on display that one
is 3 and2 kilos in size so it's about this big and it's has 1 kilo of gold in it and um track down down the locality and there's actually a report from 1875 in the local newspaper there were two characters who were repairing a road and they were pulling out plucking out rocks out of a hedg r nearby just to fill the potholes and one of them was remarkably heavy and they cracked it open and it was like this and that rock actually stayed as nobody melted the gold or extracted the gold down uh it
was sold to a jeweler remained in this family it ended up in the in the grandson's hands and 50 years later it was documented by an AB the same person who documented the first uh the neander cave paintings uh in the very famous uh lgow paintings in uh in France okay so a very credible person obviously um and um and so we've uh We've applied for some concessions over top of this and and uh and the hope is that uh we get them probably early summer okay and uh and then we can start work now
I might add though this is not just a gold Venture um France is very very particular they they're very uh focused right now on critical medals and in fact I spoke here at the pdac on Sunday uh courtesy of the French Embassy uh at a critical medals conference um this we believe uh occurs with antimony and as you're probably aware the Chinese are not allowing any antimony um exports so the West is starved of it and um you know potentially we're going to find something here that's POA metallic the gold will pay for the extraction
and the antimony will come essentially as a byproduct and that's what's needed yeah so is Britney known historically for mining well yes no and I'm certainly you're I'm certain you're familiar with the the cartoon strip uh asteris the G well going right back to uh Roman times and pre-roman times there are a number of places uh not just in Britany but all throughout France where the the GS were were mining uh gold and in fact uh when Julius Caesar very very famously uh crossed the Rubicon he had left GA with a massive massive gold Fortune
uh that we believe he just essentially um pillaged uh from from the uh the people living there and uh that's what he paid his troops with yeah yeah had to come from somewhere okay so uh you're saying you you are waiting for per there in Britany um what else keeps you busy uh you recently put out a press release um on another asset in Ecuador yes where you've historically been very active with the Lost Cities uh project sure um this one is called Kur yawi yes please tell us more set the scene for us yeah
so CU yawi is uh yet another one of many um epithermal prospects we have so this is a very curious thing because it's Jurassic in age dates from the days of Jurassic Park the days of the dinosaurs uh and it's uh it's a solicia center like you would find say in Yellowstone National Park today uh it's actually got in the Rocks there's uh imprints and uh pieces of of Reed and grasses that have been in tumed by Quartz these would have been in the Splash Zone of a geyser so geyser erupts the water comes down
it's Laden with with dissolved silica and that dissolved silica ends up in tuming the whatever is lying on the ground pieces of wood grass whatever but it shows you that that's at the Paleo surface that is at the original land surface and as you're I'm sure very very much aware epithermal deposits that's the surface expression of them so gold deposits Frid Del Norte has a celicious center on top of it and our hope is that one of these things and we've got about a dozen of them uh when we drill them and explore them fully
we're actually going to come up with maybe fdn 2 or fdn 3 who knows uh we don't know but there's uh as um you know I talk about our property being a cornucopia of resources there's lead zinc silver there's copper silver in sediments there's porfy copper there's everything on it it's a very big property 200,000 hectares so the the idea with cawi uh I released a a press release not too long ago it's very very technical and a number of shareholders s to me scratching their head saying why is he releasing this and they didn't
realize I wasn't really releasing it for them I was releasing it for the companies that are working in the gold space who immediately get it right and that's what I wanted them to see because obviously they'll pass it to their geophysicist and they can interpret it even better than I can okay okay I'm a geologist I'm not a geophysicist but there's a number of of of good-look targets on it that need to get drilled and and the bottom line if we have to spell it out again is that it's an epithermal deposit expressing at surface
we believe so yeah so maybe the goodies are 200 or 300 M down um it's it's uncertain at this point of course there are are some conductors that come very close to the surface there some deeper down um they'll all have to be investigated by the drill eventually yeah all right okay so uh please tell me a little bit more about the company's share structure and who are your major backers aha well we have 104,000 shares outstanding right now uh that's fully deluded um and I own 43% of the company nice which is very very
very unusual well it's Unique in the junior mining space I I put a lot of my personal money in it I've been involved in almost every P private placement I don't take a salary and I am very very much a believer in this and align with the shareholders particularly the retail Market market so you know if if they don't make money I don't make money and I intend to make money and you know this kind of i' obliquely found out about it but you can just imagine uh getting down to the Bedrock and uncovering this
to seeing what's there yeah yeah um especially with with gold closing it on $22,900 I could be very very very good for the shareholders I mean you know I've done some dabbled in some gold panning myself and I know the feeling that when you do see a little gold flake in your pan but pulling that from the ground surely must be another feeling eh absolutely yeah yeah yeah yeah all right uh what else is important about orena and its strategy over the next 12 months well we got a lot of IRS in the forest some
of which I can't really talk about here cuz uh we haven't uh spoken about it publicly but um there is a lot going on behind the scenes uh a lot corporately and um I think it's just a case of watch the space and see what happens uh I do want to ask you this uh it really seems to me that France is emerging as a kind of surprising exploration hotspot at the moment uh just recently the northern Miner also reported on aquatan yes uh metals also uh launching operations there and uh of course led by
Chris Taylor of the Great Bear fame um how would you characterize France's uh emergence well he's a great expiration as we know and uh and he's there for a reason because he thinks there's like I do it's it's almost like finding a an Undiscovered Country uh there's a a proud proud tradition of mining in France but it's mainly been forgotten uh you know you can remember that uh France relies very very much on nuclear power and that came uh from uranium that was mined domestically so they had that they had gold they had a lot
of coal produced over the years RN or many many different things but it's been a couple of generations really since that happened and a lot of that that that thing that stuff has been uh forgotten now I was told that the brgm which is equivalent to the Geological Survey of Canada uh in France uh have a 34 million euro program right now uh to essentially um look at all the resources within not just Continental France but French Polynesia and French Guana and some of the other territories and um and bring mining back um you know
it's obviously a very very important part of of this country's culture and the this country is GDP and uh it's um it could go many many places in the future excellent that's the kind of news we want to hear yes all right uh that was Dr Keith Baron the founder and CEO of Oria resources thanks for making time to join me thank you [Music]
