Today we will show you the ultimate guide of the best places to move to and retire in Europe this is probably the most remarkable video ever published on our Channel we just put together all the work we did during the last four years in a single video 71 cities 14 different countries and places where high quality of life meets longevity happiness new friendships and a cost of living that is less than half of what to pay in the US or England ready so we start with souer Italy a region composed of eight different regions and
I will review to you the best cities to live and retire in seven of them sorry Sardinia I don't know much about you but if anyone is familiar with Sardinia please let me know in the comment section the first region in Italy and in Europe I will talk about is M the best place in M for expatriate AR is likely the town of termoli it's a beautiful Beach area loved by families due to its calmness and weather and while the weather in the region can be quite hot m is a region where gentle breeze often
makes the summer much more enjoyable despite being a tourist City you can buy a three-bedroom apartment with a balcony in termoli for less than €90,000 since not many people there don't speak forign languag Theo is one of these places that we recommend only if you have a grasp of the Italian language another potential issue is that it's a small town and to find facilities Like International Airport ports or larger hospitals you need to travel to other cities like pescara or cob baso Salerno has around 130,000 residents and the city has a relatively large exped community
Italians there are also quite friendly and us it to for rers see salar is very close to one of the most beautiful places in the entire world in my opinion the Ami Coast seriously this place is so beautiful that made me lose track of time I i laed words so in Salerno you can buy a penthouse close to the Sea for less than €6,000 now please tell me in the comment section what do you buy for €6,000 or $65,000 in your city in your country because I'm curious for comparison I think that the biggest downside
of Salerno is that during the high season it might feel a bit crowded but is not too large to the point of being CTIC and expensive but also not too small to the point of not having good supermarkets or hospitals it even has an International Airport the city has a bit more than 300,000 people and has a lovely beach with a very curious name pan Pomodoro which means bread and tomato and and why kapan explain to me the reason for this name in the comment section it was as if Brighton had a beach called fishing
chips now back to the subject body has plenty of infrastructure it's home to the Polyclinic body one of the most Respected hospitals in in southord Italy and also has an airport with flights to all over the European continent since since it's not a small town it's unlikely you get bed there in body you can buy a 84 Square met apartment close to the seaside for 68,000 utilities including electricity heating cooling water and garbage if you need to pay for it average around 100 PL UT per month for an 85 square met apartment and grocery costs
are also reasonable with a liter of milk priced at around 1.2 and a loaf of bread for 1.5 OS since it's relatively touristic body might get crowded in the summer and prices might go slightly up during that [Laughter] time is a relatively small City with around 60,000 residents and very very old from ancient times Mata has a welcome Community with a growing number of exports make it easier for new Commerce to integrate the city is renewed for its sassy ancient cave dwellings that are UNESCO world heritage site the healthcare facilities in Mata may not be
as comprehensive as those in larger cities Hospital madona De Gracia is the main hospital but for specialized treatments residents might need to travel is relatively famous for its tourism but it's too affordable a truear Ru flat there in the best part of the city will cost you 95,000 I just don't get this pink color but while some people might have different tastes cities in the region that are favorite of expatries and remote workers are Regio Calabria and Kenza Regio calabri is the largest one with around 170,000 residents and has a decent infrastructure since it's also
the provincial capital due to its tourism location the city has developed public transport systems including buses and trains however as a larger City Rayo calabri can suffer from traffic congestion especially during peak hours in summer coena on the other side it has less than half of the size of Rego Calabria and it's not that touristic coachen also offers a lower pace of Life of beautiful squares cafes and local markets providing a quintessentially calabrian experience CA is also cheaper a five room two bath 120 square met apartment in a nice part of the city with will
cost you €75,000 however as a smaller City there are some issues while CA has decent medical facilities they may not be as extensive as those in Regio Calabria public transportation is less developed compared to the capital so you also might need a car palmo is the largest city in the capital of Sicily with more than 600,000 residents it has an International Airport plenty of hospitals and first Structure but it might look very chaotic for those who are not used to it so our suggestion is that is Katana Katana has less than 300,000 residents and it's
much CER than palmo while it's still offering all the basic Services you need theatro mimini one of Italy's most prestigious Opera Houses offer regular performances for example Kat also hosts various festivals through the year such as the Festa the Sant Agata which celebrates the city's patal Saint with parade and events Kat Fontana Rosa airport connects the city to various International destination making travel easy to many parts of Europe and the whole place has some spectacular beaches look at this stunning and the best thing is katani is really inexpensive for a city of its size it's
cheaper than living some small villages in norn Italy let's put it to perspective you can buy a three room two bathro apartment for only 59,00 okay maybe their taste for decoration is a bit over the top too much bling bling wait a second what is that is that a portrait from The Godfather well never mind if you're a bit more discreet you can also buy these 100 S met 4 room apartment for € 65,000 in most large European cities you pay three or four times that price even in waro Poland you'll not find anything for
this price not even a tiny Studio [Applause] One is called Shaka and the other CH Chana both cities could not be more different Shaka with a population of around 40,000 is a lively coastal town its vibrant atmosphere comes from the busy fishing Fork buly markets and a Petra of seafood restaurants there are someing beaches very close there too like this p and thiso Shaka residents are L for their warm hospitality and strong tradition the town is a Steffen in history with churches ancient ruins and thermal baths that date back to Roman times the city receives
some tourists during the high season but it's never really crowded like more famous beach cities in Sicily chanana on the other hand is a much smaller town with a population of about 3,500 residents it's a place where everyone knows each other and the sense of community is very strong the town is surrounded by picturesque Hills and Olive groes gas Serene and Rural field the pace of life in chanchana is as though in relax set perfect for those looking to escape the noise and Rush of larger cities the town's charm lies in its Simplicity and the
friendliness of its residents local festivals and events are intimate Affairs bring the whole Community together to celebrate but here is an important point in Sicily not many people speak English if you plan to move to anywhere in the island but especially to a small towns get ready to learn some Italian language and even better the Sicilian dialect it's not that difficult And once you start to speak it your life will be so much better the difference in our daily interactions with the locals is mindblowing in the comment section I will give you the link for
a very effective software that I use to learn language now contining and you might be asking why am I talking to you about those two cities to a small towns instead of the provinal capital agre gental here's the reason have a provincial capital Agri gento has more jobs some of them relatively well paid in government institutions therefore the prices are not as low as in smaller towns professionals and entire families left smaller Sicilian towns to find work in other cities in Italy like Milan or Turin therefore a lot of empty properties are available I'm not
talking about the crap shav homes they would need to spend thousands reforming it to be able to live inside no no no talking about ready to leave homes with good standards some of them look straight from a romantic movie we research at some apartments and houses in these two towns and it's a shock how inexpensive they are but before I show you the prices I would like to ask as small favor if you enjoy this episode please hit the like And subscribe buttons so let's imagine your budget to buy a property is 65,000 or less
less than the price of many modern cars with that budget you you would easily buy a 110 square met apartment in the suburb of chanana this is an apartment with three bedrooms a kitchen a living room a bathroom and a utility room people say That Sicily is dirty and full of garbage in the streets and that might be true in some parts of palmo or Katana but not in this part of chanana this is how it looks the streets in this area clean and tidy and this for only € 59,000 or for $64,000 do you
know what you buy Philadelphia in the US for $64,000 this place probably it's HED too not far from this apartment Chan Chana you can buy for almost the same price an even bigger one this one has 135 Square met and a panoramic view of the valley nearby imagine you wake up in the morning and have that view while drinking an espresso that is why people live until 90 years old there but let's say that instead of living the countryside you would rather live close to the beach let's talk about what you could afford in Chaka
our lovely coastal town for 99,000 you can buy a two Flor building in the Historical Center of the town it's located at Via San Vito Asaka about 200 meters from the Fantastic chato again if you feel that Sicily is dirty and has garbage in the streets think twice because this is how the street of this apartment looks like has clean has a corridor of a fancy hotel the best part you will be with a walking distance of this beach and yes it's empty because as I said somehow not many Tourists discovered yet how cute is
this little town called Shaka the first city I'll talk about is lorno and of the three cities this is the only one at the seaside and also the biggest one with 157,000 res deaths due to its size Loro has a well-developed Health Care system with modern Hospitals and Clinics ensuring reliable Medical Care the public transportation is efficient with frequent trains and buses connect you to nearby cities like Pisa and Florence the city is also known for its fresh seafood markets like the historic Mercato Central this is what an Italian told us about Loro Loro is
like the Napoli of Tuscan it's very different compared to the shiny fenza and this is interesting because in general many people consider lorno a very authentic City now time for the most important part what you can afford in lorno for the price of renting is small student in Chicago $1,480 or € 1,320 per month this huge apartment with 170 square m more than 1,800 sare ft is located in a stately perod building just in front of the sea it has four RS two bathrooms and This Magnificent View and all that for just $1,000 00 cheaper
than a tiny studio in Boston if you want to save more for only €800 less than $900 you rent a four room apartment in a central area if instead of renting you prefer to buy this apartment you can do it for just1 145,000 $162,000 do you know what to buy with $162,000 in Boston nothing AB absolutely nothing in fact the cheapest thing you can buy in Boston costs $230 $8,000 and it's just a parking space another place that was recommended by locals is a smaller city called empol despite being smaller empol has a good Advantage
the location is just 30 to 50 minutes from two bigger tuskan cities Florence and Piva so you have the benefit of being close to the infrastructure of those larger Urban centers while paying much much lower prices how low well very low for example you can rent a three room apartment in empo for only $650 EUR sorry per month this is last than $750 I asked at chat GPT where can I find a three room apartment in the US for such price because any place in Miami or for louer day would cost more than that Chad
GPT told me that this price is possible to find in mobo Alabama so I went to check why mobo has the same prices as empol in Italy well the most striking fact is that while the homicide rate in Italy is 0.5 murders per 100,000 residents per year IM mobo Alabama it is 20.1 so yes maybe in the US you can leave for the same cost as impoli if you don't mind living a place 40 times more Violet now going back to the other pros of holit every 30 minutes there is a train departing from there
to Florence and a ticket cost only 5 OS per Trep if you enjoy nature the proximity to the Aro River and the Tuscan Countryside provides easy access to outdoor activities about empo this is what a local told us open quote I live in empol a 50,000 resident Town located between Pisa and Flores the cost of living is good services are more than decent from there you can easily travel by train to Florence Pisa Sienna and Luca end quote and since we mentioned the region of Luca is a very place that is quite attractive for retirement
in tus here is what a resident for Luca told us open cot it's not a very big city but it still offers a lot of Comforts and it's very well connected to nearby cities by roads trains Etc end quote the city is compact with facial services like healthcare and shopping easy accessible on food it's such a lovely city that even people from surrounding cities come to Luca just to spend their free time has this person told us open and quote I live in Piza 30 minutes for Luca so I go there often and the vibe
is amazing especially for families also it's so close and well connected to basically everything the beaches the mountains the main cities food and weather are amazing end quote Healthcare is also a strong point in Luca the city has modern medical facilities and a well reged Public Health System their main hospital is the sun Luca Hospital which is public and well evaluated by users to be honest I don't know many public hospitals that have so many people praising their staff in public reviews have this Hospital the downside of Luca is that it's quite attractive to tourists
you see signs in English everywhere and while this might be good for those who don't speak Italian it also means that the city has prices a bit higher than one could expect it's still not expensive as Flores but surely higher than the other cities we mention on the other hand the region surrounding Luca is enchanting and its towns have much lower prices one such town is B deuca famal for its thermal bath with natural hot springs that have been used for centuries another attractive option is capodi one of the largest municipalities in the area and
known for its asent rues and Gardens now let's see what you can find in the region of Luca for the price of renting a small student in Chicago $1,480 per month well for such a big sum you could very well afford to live in two of the most expensive areas of the entire region Marina de Petra Santa or Vio there you can get a four room apartment for front of the beach for less than a little Studio Chicago or Boston now let's say you want to live in a Countryside and buy a house instead of
renting but you have only $220,000 probably you think you cannot afford anything decent in Tuscany right after all $220,000 is less than the price of an average house in Mississippi or Alabama but here is a surprise for much less than that you can buy this Villa in gambassi ter with a swimming pool this house in Aro also with a swimming pool and this is splended five room house in Masa Kara which has the most spectacular View and also of course a swimming pool and I'll that for a price similar to what you pay to live
in Cleveland Ohio several factors make Aragon an appealing destination for Forin rares first it's one of the most developed parts of his and the capital Saragosa has excellent infrastructure for a city of its size it's also the third safest autonomous community in Spain being 43% safer than Valencia for example while it's far from being the cheapest autonomous region some services like private healthcare have good quality and relatively low prices public transportation is efficient and the road infrastructure is well maintained make it easy to travel within the region Aragon is also less crowded than more tourist
heavy parts of Spain offering a quieter and more relaxed pace of Life the best places in Aragon for an expat pioner or RAR are the capital Saragosa which has a very good infrastructure but at the same time is not so big to cause the stress of a large city and a smaller town called wesa with only 52,000 residents wesa comines a small town atmosphere with essential modern convenience the local supermarkets f AES and banking services are easily accessible one of the greatest advantages of whsa is the healthcare quality the main local public hospital hospital s
hor is modern and well wik Keeped for those who prefer private healthcare there are private clinics that offer services at lower rates than larger metropolitan areas whis is just an hour away from zaragosa by train which has an international airport so you can fly elsewhere in Europe and W's proximity to the P mon is a major advantage for those who enjoy outdoor activities like me is a very safe City due its Valor size and the biggest negative aspect that locals mention is that it can get boring sometimes the cost of living there is quite low
since it's a small City and this translates to much lower housing costs the city has plent of apartments available for sale for less than €100,000 like this fully furnished three-bedroom apartment available for only 93,000 the next next autonomous Community is asuras a region in the northwest of Spain bordered by the Bay of bis and the Atlantic Ocean to the north for expats one piece of good news is that audius has a inheritance and gift tax system that can be favorable for those who plan to transfer assets to their hairs leaving the region this is something
that our partner of today title can help you if you ever consider moving to Spain and by the way in a few weeks we'll make a full video where an expert from TI we answer whatever you ask in the comment section about taxes in his Spain so if you have any doubts ask us in the comment section and we might choose it to be answered by title in our next video now going back to ASAS the biggest downside of this region is that it's quite rainy very different From the Mediterranean climate of sou Spain the
best cities in the community are oo and gon and only 24 kilomet separate those two cities but they have some striking differences oo is the capital of audas and is not exactly at the shore but Inland it offers a balance between a relaxed lifestyle and the amenities of a midsized city oo has around 220,000 residents it has a rich cultural scene for a city of its size and a walkable City Center the public Healthcare System is highly regarded and the city has well equipped hospitals such as Hospital C UK one of the largest and most
advanced hospitals in Spain exps who obtain residency can access public healthare at minimal cost while Private health insurance is also affordable oo provides a relatively low cost of living compared to other European cities ran apartment in the city center can cost around 500 to 700 per month for exps looking for a low cost of living in a city with a good quality of life it's a very good choice this is what a local told us about oo open quote I've been leing in ovetto almost my whole life it's a great city to live in it's
literally the cleanest in Spain and I would say it's pretty safe end quote another city in audias that is recommendation for anyone planning to return return in Spain is hion it is slightly bigger than oo with more than 270,000 residents and just at the seaside heon has several well-maintained beaches such as PL San Lorenzo ideal for those who enjoy coastal living the city also has numerous parks and green areas such as the historical Ser Santa Catalina with Sanic views of the canabria sea the ASAS airport is only 30 minutes away and it's a hub for
a lowcost airline called vola so from there you can travel to mple airports in Spain and Europe for affordable prices for 99,500 you can buy a three bedroom apartment there just an 8-minute walk from the Aral Beach the next autonomous Community I want to tell you about is the Bal aric Island and here here we are in for a bit of pmic for a few reasons first this is actually the second most expensive autonomous community in Spain just after Madrid second recently there were some protests in the balor's largest city Palma due to the influx
of forers which according to the locals is causing inflation that aside there are also many attractive factors there this archipelago enjoys a Mediterranean climate with mild Winters and hot sunny Summers make it an appealing destination for millions of tourists I travel there for holidays once or twice per year and I have never had a bad time the weather is really special there however this is also what makes this place so expensive one of the key financial attraction for Forin rares in the balar island is the potential for favorable tax treatment they have lower wealth inheritance
and gift taxes and tax breaks for investing Energy efficient properties a good place in the arel are the city surrounding Palma de maaka CES have the book of the infrastructure and services Palma also has a large airport the third largest in Spain in number of passengers with connections to nearly all European capitals in a city called campasia just a few kilometers from Palma you can buy a 40 square met flat for €6 169,000 it might seem expensive compared to other parts of Spain and it is but hey at least there are just two blocks of
away from the beach the next autonomous Community is also an archipelago but it's much cheaper than the balar island it's a Canary Island located on the northwest coast of Africa in the Atlantic ocean known for its subtropical climate it's one of those places where even the middle of the winter you can s back at the beach one curious aspect of these islands is that they are an economic special Zone with multiple tax benefits for example the value added tax or vat there is only 7% in comparison to the 21% V8 in the rest of Spain
they also offer reduced income taxes for professionals relocating there a reduced property transfer tax for buyers title our partner in the episode today told us that there is an increasing interest from digital nuts and other professionals to live in the Canary Island due to all these benefits the two best cities for rares are also the two biggest in this archipelago Las palas the grand Canadia and Santa Cruz Deif Las palas the grand Canad is bigger with almost 380,000 residents and the infrastructure there is more robust as the largest city in the Canary Island laspas offer
all the amenities with ar re need from Healthcare to International Schools if you bring young family members it also has a vibrant exp community and a blend of cultural activities with its coastal location rares can enjoy both Urban conveniences and Beachside relaxation many exps there are from the UK Germany and Scandinavia Las palas is just 25 minutes from Grand Canady International Airport with flights to numerous destinations but one of the downsides of Las palas is the public transport the buses operated by guaga municipales are often extremely crowded in terms of housing costs a three bedroom
apartment in Las Palmas costs €7,000 which is less than 100 $20,000 if you prefer to rent for 670 or $750 you can rent a furnish apartment this is what a resent told us about Las palas open quote amazing Place very laidback lifestyle good internet relatively cheap because of the island lower taxes lots to see and do and a cheap plane ticket to Europe lots of tourists in the South more locals in the north end quote the next autonomous Community is less family but it also has plenty of Pros canabria canabria is in Northern Spain located
Between asuras and the Bas country it has a climate similar to audius mild Summers and wet Winters the biggest downside of this autonomous Community is that it's the most violent in Spain with a homicide rate of 1.03 however to put it into perspective while being the most violent Spanish Community if Cabrio was a state in the US it would be the safest being even safer than Rhode Island in canabria there are municipal tax reductions in some cities such as property tax relief for pensioners remember that if you are interested in knowing more about these specifics
just ask in the comment section and in one of our next episodes we will answer it with an expert for title the most recommended City in this autonomous Community is s there despite being the regional Capital it's not a big city with only 17 2,000 residents a size that often is considered a perfect balance between the convenience of urban life and a laidback lifestyle this is not the kind of City where you find many pats and tourists but mostly locals therefore remember that learning Spanish here will be extremely helpful to enjoy what sander offers to
its residents and it offers a lot the cabaro natural park just outside the city is a large Wildlife Park with Sanic Landscapes and animals in semi wild abats inside the city santandar has an excellent Healthcare infrastructure the hospital Marquez deia is one of the top public Hospitals in Spain offering a wide range of Medical Services private healthcare is also available with options like Hospital Santa guda providing alternatives for those with private insurance if you want to travel to other parts of the country the R Train Network and ala buses provide quick connections to other CI
CZ in Spain one thing that I found curious is that Spaniard from other parts of the country are very fond of Santander like one of them told us open quote it's a very stunning City being all over Spain and it's one of my favorite places has a nice small town vibe in The Old City the beaches are lovely people are very kind but prepare to speak Spanish end quote with 91,500 or $12,000 you can buy a two-bedroom flat in Sou there close to the university area in just a few minutes walk from sardino Beach if
you prefer to rent with just 600 you can live in a two-bedroom apartment in the same area from kabria we jump to castigan Leon a landlock and autonomous Community located in the Northwestern part of Spain bordered also by Portugal the region is famous for two things first for the fact that it does not have a capital at least not officially second because of its agriculture part particularly in the hia Delo wine producing area in castigan Leon you can enjoy access to Fresh locally served food and wies at lower prices than those available in larger cities
or more touristic regions on the Financial side an advantage of castigan Leon is the regional reductions on inheritance and gifted taxes good for RAR is looking to transfer wealth to family members casti and Leon apply reductions based on the degree of kingship and the value of the inheritance the local government also gives incentives for property purchases in rural areas which could lead to reduced property taxes for rares willing to settle in the smaller towns within the region one of the best highlights of castia Leon is that it's very safe in fact the second safest region
in Spain with a homicide rate of 0.33 per 100,000 residents per year the biggest downside of this region is that the winters are relatively cold since most of castillan Leon is located in the inner plateau a high region of Spain the two most recommended cities for expats in castillan Leon are Leon and salanka Leon is a smaller with close to 128,000 Residents and much of its essential infrastructure and amenities within walking distance this is ideal for rares who may not wish to rely on a car the city center commercial districts and medical facilities are all
easily accessible food or by using the local bus system which offers reduced fairs for seniors it is also City with considerably lower costs even properties within the Oldtown near key historical landmarks like the Leon Cathedral or the caoz are relatively inexpensive highp speed trains connect Leon to Madrid in just two hours Salamon is a bit bigger With almost 150,000 residents and it's very famous because of its University one of the oldest in the world the city has a temperate climate with warm Summers that are not as Extreme as in the South parts of Spain and
it's a city where a big share of the population is relatively mature there are more people above 45 years old in Salam monka than below that age during the school season there is also population of students and a local told us that surprisingly the older and the younger parts of the city frequent the same spots the toris river which runs through salaman offers a pleasant setting for walking cycling or relaxing along the River Bank there are wellmaintained walking paths and green areas like parados be us another good point about the city is the air quality
Salam monka has consistently air quality better than other larger cities in Spain the city's relatively low population density and absence of heav Industry contribute to cleaner air enhancing overall health and well-being for residents lastly but probably most importantly the cost of living this part of Spain is lower than average and that explains why so many students go for exchange there as we all know they tend to favor cheaper places for just $882,500 EOS or $992,000 you can buy a flat in a nice well-located District called San Bernardo just a few minutes walk from downtown if
instead of buying you prefer to rent there are multiple offers across the city below 500 from Castilla Leon we jump into another region with a very similar name but even cheaper in fact our next region has the lowest housing cost in Spain but before revealing it I would like to ask as more favor if you enjoy this episode please hit the like And subscribe buttons so this autonomous Community is called castillia lancha and it has the cheapest prices in Spain for Real Estate the average price of a home there is around one3 of the price
in Madrid for example castillia lancha is the largest wine producing region in Spain by far Castilla lancha produces so much wine that if it was a country it would be the third largest producer in the world just behind Italy and France and as you might know from our video about Tuscany where there are wineries there is good weather because we humans benefit for the same climate as Vineyards one could even call Castilla lancha the Tuscany of Spain the similarities are plenty both regions boast vast rolling Landscapes dominated by Orchards and Olive Groves creating an iconic
Countryside additionally the architecture in both areas reflects a rich historical Heritage with medieval towns htop Villages and old windmills dotting the landscape in both cases the cuisine is also an attraction Castilla lancha is famous for its Muno cheese and lamb dishes all produced locally the largest city in Castilla lancha is alach however not many people recommend it for xats on the other hand the city that receives The highest recommendations is Toledo a much smaller City with with less than 86,000 residents the city's compact nature makes it easy to walk or cycle to most destinations so
a car is mostly unnecessary it's a city with a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and Mild Winters it's a good place for those who prefer warmer weather thought summer temperatures can rise above 40° C which might require air conditioning Toledo is less than 1 hour from Madrid by train and there are multiple departures every day so anyone living too has access to all the infrastructure health care and perks that Madrid offers while living a more relaxed historical set and pay much lower prices if you do not live in the historic Center of course the historic
Center is more expensive because the city has high tourist appeal receiving thousands of people every year on the other side the outskirts have very good prices this is what AR them told us open quote Toledo is a magical City but heavily over touristed so eating out in the CCO historic Center is pricey like crazy tourist prices but other parts of Toledo and nearby pblos are Ste groceries are cheap compared to Madrid K beer wine cheap end quote in Toledo there is a district called Santa Barbara just to the side of the tagos river despite being
only 2 kilomet from the historic Center the prices are much lower you can buy a tree bad room apartment in Santa Barbara for only € 65,000 less than $773,000 the next autonomous Community is extremadura located in Western Spain bordering Portugal and Andalusia it's the second poorest community of Spain by GDP per capita but there are many Pros extremadura offers for xatar their govern offers interesting benefits for for rers who want to live and invest there in fact if we would talk about all of them it would take some time but if you want to know
more about this taxing sentence leave us a comment and in the next video together with an expert from title the One-Stop shop for Tax Matters abroad we will answer it now back to the best places to live in extremadura the most recommended City in extremadura for xat rares is not their Capital Merida which some people say is average at best but instead another city that is a bit a bit larger m is quite small it's caseres a city with 96,000 residents there's only unco W heritage site and it's known for its medieval architecture and vibrant
cultural scene since this city is located in the extremadura the cost of living there is much lower than the average despite being such a pleasant place to live basic expenses such as groceries utilities and transportation are all lower than in most of Spain the Summers they are hot but the winters are mild and even plant it's very unlikely to have temperatures below zero despite the smaller size CES has has a good Healthcare infrastructure the hospital San Pedro deanta is a large modern facility offering a wide range of Medical Services CES is also a very very
peaceful place in fact extremadura as a whole is remarkably safe with a homicide rate of just 0.47 per 100,000 residents per year one of the lowest in Spain the biggest downside of Cades is that it's not very well connected to the rest of Spain first of all as of now there are no high speed trains departing or arriving from Cades to travel to Madrid for example there are some direct trains but in some cases you need to take two trains or a train in a bus this is what a resident told us open quote cidus
is small and has the mest winters but traveling from Casas to anywhere in Spain is an odds say end quote but hidden in this negative aspect there is a positive Point yes it is difficult to travel from cases to the rest of Spain but it's easy to travel from there to many Portuguese cities in fact from casades in just a 3-hour drive you can reach Lisbon remember when I said that the cost of living Cades is lower from all the places that I have shown you so far there are no prices as low as in
Cades their apartment for rent for has little has €299 like this three bedroom flat with 122 square m if you prefer buying prices are even more impressive you can buy a four bedroom apartment with a respectable size of 132 sare M more than 1,400 sare ft in the historic Center for just 66,000 even in a small town in Alabama you cannot find apartments for the prices you have in the historic Center Of this pretty midsized City from extremadura we go North to the autonomous community of Galicia located in the northwest corner of Spain bordered by
the atlan ocean to the west and the north Galia has a temperate climate with boud Winters and also hot summers an attractive spot for those looking for moderate weather year round the fact that I personally like the most about Galicia is that besides Spanish they speak a language called Galo which is very similar to my language Portuguese the two most recommended cities in Galicia are or and vle OAS is the smaller of the two with a bit more than 100,000 people it's very Scenic not expensive and ideal for those seeking a calm laidback City however
residents say it can be boring since not much happens there the other is vgo vgo is the largest city in the community with almost 300,000 residents and has a very good infrastructure and services except for the public transport which received some criticism but then what Europeans consider bad public transport probably is still better than almost all American cities V is home to several well regged medical facilities including the Alvaro Hospital one of the largest and most modern hospitals in Northern Spain the VG pador airport connects the city to major spanic cities like Madrid and Barcelona
vos's rilway station provides access to highspeed trains for convenient travel across Spain one of vos's unique advantages is its proximity to Portugal the border is less than an hour drive away allowing easy access to Portuguese cities like Porto or Braga in terms of the cost of living it's not the cheapest City in Gala however if you compare Vigo with other cities of the Same size in Spain the cost of living is relatively low this is what a local told us about the city open quote vgo is a really good place you have a good weather
almost all the year a lot of good places to eat a reasonable prices like Alano in frago Avenue you also have basically anything you need without needing to travel 30 minutes to get what you need and quote regarding housing prices there are plenty of apartments for rent for less than €600 per month for buyers it's possible to buy a three bedroom apartment for just 94,000 the last autonomous community we talk about this maybe the most attractive of all all the information I put so far was gathered from tons of data and multiple sources you can
access all these sources by subscribing to my patreon tire two members get my three bestselling books on living abroad while Tire tree gets even more benefits but hurry this offer is limited to the first 20 subscribers go to patreon.com SL the underline exp to join so the autonomous community that might be the most attractive fall is Mia and why that well Mia has a very unique combination that is not F anywhere else in Spain it's the second cheapest autonomous community in Mainland Spain which cost just slightly higher than castillia lansa but unlike castillia lancha Mia
is not landlocked instead it has a beautiful Mediterranean Coastline this autonomous community in the southeast of Spain has more than 300 days of sunshine per year it's close the Valencia Community that I covered in a previous video but the costs in Mia are in general much smaller since tourism is not so heavy there have you ever thought about retiring to a place where the sun shines almost every day the cost of living is half of the cast of Florida and 60% cheaper than London England and this place is safer than any state in the US
it's even safer than Maine after taking opinions of numerous locals and other residents I discovered white Malaga axara and the region of cost of soul in Spain became such attractive destination for expat Ares and today you discover all these reasons some of them never crossed my mind but at the end of this video I will also tell an essential aspect to consider if you ever thought about retirement in Spain so with no further Ado let's jump into the reasons that make Malaga an insanely good cost benefit for retirement abroad and here is a tip it's
not only about the Sun or only about the cost of living it goes way beyond that and the first positive aspect we will talk about is proof of that it is that in 2022 the autonomous community of Andalusia where Malaga is located introduced several tax benefits for for rers and residents they implemented a 100% rebate on the wealth tax effectively eliminating the tax for residents and non residents who have assets in the region their idea is to Attract more High net wor individuals to establish their residence in Andalusia Andalusia also reduced other taxes like inheritance
tax and property transfer tax for example imagine that you buy a house in andalia and then your are children inherited later if the house cost less than1 million EUR they will not pay any inheritance tax remember that these incentives are valid only for Andalusia in other parts of Spain like Madrid or Barcelona the tax code is different the second positive thing about this region is the Private health care in the region of Malaga you find high quality hospitals like the shanit hospital the orthopedic clinic sandal in benom and the VAS Mala Hospital close to PL
laala in all these decent private hospitals medical procedures will cost way less than what we would pay in the US for example a glaucoma surgery in Malaga will cost 12 ,000 this is less than $1,100 in the US the same surgery will cost you between 2,450 to $4,260 that partially explains why spers spend only one third of the value that Americans spend per year on Healthcare the third aspect is also unusual but often ignored and has an expatriate myself I will tell you this is important and you might miss it at some point and talking
about Connectivity Malaga is very well connected both by air and rail malaga's Transportation infrastructure is highly developed trains give you easy access to the rest of Spain in Europe the Malaga Costa so airport is one of the largest in Spain and offers flights to major cities across Europe and even to the US or Canada Additionally the highspeed AV train connects Malaga to Madrid in less than 3 hours this makes it very convenient for you to visit your family and friends back home or for them to visit you the third point I want to tell you
is what the expats love most about living Malaga it's the friendliness of the local people this is what a German resident of managa told us open quote currently my wife and I live in a small M Village near Malaga and it feels like the whole Community has welcomed us as a family we play Smile In Love and there's a great atmosphere it feels like a totally different word to me and I really appreciate it oh close but be aware that some stards especially in this part of the country have the Abit of staring especially people
or things they find different or unusual don't take that as an offense this is what another local told us open quot anything that is a bit unusual in Spain attracts attention however it's not about racism or rudess it's simple curiosity close quote that's interesting right the next Pro of Malaga is one that you probably expect already the Mediterranean climate the Mediterranean weather you find in Malaga is known for Its mild wet Winters and hot dry summers in this climate winter temperatures usually range from 10 to 15° C 50 to 59 fahit makes it quite Pleasant
compared to other colder regions summers are typically hot with temperatures often reaching above 35 c 95° f but during the night it's not that hot in such climate the spring is a delightful season it's one of the regions in Europe with the highest amount of sunshine per year researchers claim that the Mediterranean climate is the best for human life if you have health issues like Asma arthritis or sad this weather will greatly help you it's also an excellent weather for agriculture which greed us to our next Pro this part of Europe offers exceptional food quality
especially in fresh fruits milk and vegetabl have you ever asked yourself how is it possible that Spaniards live 84 years on average while Americans live only 7 six even Rich European countries with good Healthcare like Germany have a shorter life expectancy than Spain part of the reason is that their food is good and healthy the local markets are filled with vibrant fresh vegetables such as tomatoes peppers and zucchini these are often growing nearby Farms ensuring freshness and flavor M of dairy products especially those evolving milk are known for their Superior taste and quality local farms
follow strict regulations regarding quality and chemicals use it Organic produce is often more affordable than in other countries and it's growing considerably in Spain all that together ensures that Malaga has some of the best food quality in Europe for a good price this brings us to our next positive aspect and this is the one that you have been waiting for this entire video it low cost of living which is a result of many circumstances one of them is the excellent public transport if you live in the city of Mala likely you'll not need to Bear
the expenses and costs of having a car public transport is good and inexpensive and reaches every part of the city a monthly bus ticket costs only1 19.95 or less than $22 for limited trips per month in the US this is what you would pay to park your car for a single day in Chicago Chicago if you really need a car for some special occasion to rent one is quite cheap this is what one person very familiar with Mal told us open quote public transport is really good even if you want to commute the smaller cities
in Costa also I don't have to worry about where to park especially now that it's summer and everyone is heading to the beach close quot another thing that is very inexpensive in Mal is to dine out and I'm not talking about those restaurants in front of the beach those are more expensive because they are for tourists let's take a local restaurant that is famous among locals because of its good quality DEA for example in this place you can eat a delicious plate of cod with aoli for only 13.95 just a digression c is my favorite
fish and it fits perfectly with foli this is less than what you might pay for a bacon cheese burger from Five Guys if you order it by Uber in the US and let's be honest there is no way we can compare a plate of cod with hayali versus a bacon cheeseburger and I'll not even talk about the quality and good prices of Spanish wine that is already common place but let's stop comparing Mala with the US For a Moment by comparing the cost of living in various Spanish cities Island covered white Mala it stands out
for expense it's cheaper than Barcelona cheaper than Madrid cheaper than mu even pona is more expensive than Malaga still if all these fields didn't convince you about how in experiences Malaga is for what it offers one thing will definitely convince you the low price of housing when I first he about the real estate pric in andalia I couldn't believe how affordable it was so I looking for the answer to such a question what Mak the cost of living Mal so low compared even to other large Spanish cities the explanation is that the economic conditions in
Malaga are less Dynamic compared to other major Spanish cities like B Madrid and Barcelona the autonomous community of andala has an average salary that is around 35% smaller than in places like Madrid or the Bas country an employment is also notably High the unemployment rate in the province of Mala is 19.1% higher than the national average of 14% which Is already an elevated number high unemployment means less economic activity and competition for jobs which keeps wages low and reduce the cost of services so if you are planning to Tom to make money this is not
a good idea but if your IDE is to go to Mal to spend money then things are much better because you will get the best benefit for every Euro you spend there in madaga you can find beautiful homes for a fraction of the cost compared to other European cities let's say you want to rent a place and your budget is €800 per month for that price you can rent a 75 square meter 800 square ft Tre bedroom apartment located only 10 minutes from the city center and very close to a train station now imagine your
budget is similar to the rent of an average two-bedroom apartment in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania which nowadays is $1,567 meaning € 1,450 what could you rent in Malaga with such a budget you can rent this place here with this View and that glow to the beach only 15 M and if you're not in the mood to go to the beach you have access to a fine swimming pool all this with a public transport station just a few meters away now compare this to Pittsburgh and tell me which Choice makes more sense and remember while Pittsburgh has an
homide rate of almost 18 murders per 100,000 residents per year hisan has a homicide rate of 0.6 so you pay less to live in a better climate With better foods and 26 times safer the choice between Mal and Pittsburgh looks obvious now right however there is one point that anyone should pay attention to when thinking about move to Spain and I'll make an alert about that in a few minutes but now let's go back to the unbelievably attractive housing prices in this part of spay let's say that instead of ring you want to buy an
apartment and your budget is $200,000 or 885,000 and in the US this is the average price of a home in Montgomery Alabama which is one of the cheapest cities in America in Malaga this would by a quite decent place with 91 square m almost 1,000 square ft three bedrooms and a decent view from the mountains nearby this all sounds impressive to me but what if I told you that smaller cities close to Malaga might offer even more for even less so I asked the locals which are those small cities with exceptionally good cost benefit and
they gave me two names but before I discover those two towns I would like to ask as small favor if you enjoy this episode please hit the like And subscribe buttons the first town locals recommended to me is Bond De La Victoria a coastal city that is only 37 minutes from Central Malaga by public transport 37 minutes is less than the average commute in New York or some cities in California and what is the reward for living in Rond De La Victoria a city with 46,000 resents splended beaches a few meters away more splended beaches
And calmness for a daily walk without the rush of a large city and all that paying considerably less remember our previous budget of € 1,450 per month they won enough to rent a normal apartment in Pittsburgh well and ring Victoria for only €1,100 or less than $1,200 you can rent a three-bedroom apartment in front of the beach fully fored and with a lovely balcony despite the small distance to a large city like Mala this place kept the atmosphere of a small Spanish City this is what a Dutch Spanish couple told us about Ron De La
Victoria open quote we recently bought a house in ringcon because we plan to spend more time in Spain I see the liveable Spanish Town great for families with good restaurants at fair prices and a long prominade for running inside L that connects to other towns it's quieter in Winter which I prefer over towns crowded with tourists end quote the biggest downside according to locals is that the water supply is getting disrupted quite frequently lately the next city residents of the region recommended to us is Torinos which is even closer to Malaga only 24 minutes distant
by training it has less than 70,000 people and is the most popular tourist town in the region called Costo so yes Torinos receives a consider amount of tourists during summer this has its costs like the crow nness during High season but it also has some positive things since during the low season the city has a huge empty infrastructure prices go down drastically so you can rent an apartment To live their 90 mes per year for very discounted prices for € 1,250 $1,350 you can rent a large Chalet with 180 square m almost 2,000 square fet
and three bedrooms with a spectacular View and very close to the seaside the thing however is that they rent for this incredible price 11 months per year in the one month of the very high season probably the price is higher now remember that at the beginning of the video when I said I wanted to make an alert this alert started with a question I made for locals during the research for this video the question was is it easy to integrate into the local community in Mala nearly all of them said yes but there was one
thing most of them dislike it about expat rares moving there it is when expats especially British for there is small ghettos where all restaurants serve full English breakfast and they even don't try to learn the local language one town that some mention that it became somehow of a British ghetto is Bena and for me this is just sad I don't expect tourists to learn Spanish but if you plan to move anywhere in the nusa but especially to small towns that manage to conserve their local lifestyle culture and traditions I beg you to learn the local
language it's really not that hard and Once you begin speaking it your life and daily interactions with locals will improve so much in the comments I'll share a link to a highly effective language learning software I use now Andalusia is not the only good region in Spain for [Applause] retirement is Val still the perfect retirement spot in Europe or has it changed it I talked to a dozen locals and xest to get a real update on this city that only two years ago we told you was the best place to retire in Europe but since
then big changes have happened all over Spain with firstand accounts for vales and arrest I haven't covered what changed there and what alternatives to Malaysia might be better nowadays today we discover all that but first what the heck happened in Barcelona people were attacked by crowds just because they looked like British or American citizens during the massive anti-tourist demonstrations that happened in the city similar protests also happened in other famous Spanish cities like mayorca and Malaga so I went for my sources to check if this wave of Revolt is affecting Valencia the Barling of EX
rares in Europe This is what one of my sources told me what happened in Barcelona is a few people spray water on a few tourists big deal but the situation there is way worse than in Valencia no one is hostile or has a hostile attitude in valaya against forers the problem is the rent hikes end quote and while this is not the only issue probably is the most visible the increasing housing costs in 202 1 the average price per square meter to rent an apartment in Malaysia was €1 only 3 years later by April 2024
this price car rocked to 4.56 per square meter this is a 45% increase in only three years this is way above the increase in the average salary in hisain in good parts this increase is due to a tremendous explosion in demand from expats and rares willing to move to a sunny warm place to enjoy their Golden Ears the reason these huge protests happen in Barcelona but not in Valencia is that in Barcelona the situation is even worse entire districts of the city are completely taken over by airbnbs displacing locals and inflating the prices nowadays in
almost half of the city districts you will need to spend more than €20 per square meter to rent an apartment so did this price inflation made Valencia too expensive is it still worth to move there for retirement let's compare the cost of living in Valencia with Tampa in Florida one of the favorite cities for Americans to retire to when made our video about valaya almost 3 years ago the city was way cheaper than Tampa right now it's still 35% cheaper not impressive but it's still a considerable difference would I move abroad just to save 35%
of my income uh not sure but soon I will show you some alternatives to valaya where we save much more than that so keep watching back to our comparison the average renting compa is $1,680 per month which is around € 1,480 let's see what you rent in Valencia for this value in the city center very close to public transport Commerce hospitals and entertainment I found this 59 square met two room apartment for €1,500 it has a nice view and a decent standard but it's not much cheaper or larger than what would you get in Tampa
in Florida and in Tampa for this price the apartment at least has access to a swimming pool this higher price in Valencia shows that inflation caused by Urban be because in this part of the city there are hundreds and hundreds of them it's a shock for me because years ago when you're talking about Valencia for the last time the same kind of apartment would be for 1,100 or 1,200 Max but why a landlord would rent his apartment for € 1,200 if he can make much more via Urban B it's not that I agree with the
protesters throw you water as tourists I don't blame the tourists they are just enjoying their holiday except those drun Cloud ones however if you go A bit further from from the historical Parts dominated by airb me and closer to the beach you'll find some cheaper places like this 85 square met two room apartment in malvar R Roa for only € 1,350 with a really cool SE viw so yes as you can see Valencia is still relatively inexpensive when compared to Florida but by much a smaller margin than what we saw in 2021 is it still
worth it maybe but here's a thing that nobody's talking about if you're moving to retire abroad you don't need to move to Valencia and even less to Barcelona you don't need to move to cities where you compete for rent and probably displace young professionals who are trying to make a living not far from these metropolitan areas there are wonderful small towns with the same climate or even better as I'll show you in a few minutes these small towns lost a lot of young residents to bigger cities some of them are dying because of the decreasing
population in these smaller cities you would have all the amenities of an urban life but for much much smaller cost and here is the best part no Angry protesters harassing you while you lunch in these cities you'll be more welcome especially if you try to learn some of the local language of course before I review these three spectacular destinations I would like to ask you small favor if you enjoy this episode please hit the like And subscribe buttons the first city I wanted to Fe think about is Caston de la Plana the city is located
76 kilm from Valencia or just 1 hour drive and it's not a small City per se since it has 150,000 residents this city was once Ved the ugliest in Spain because large parts of the city were built in the 60s and the' 70s and apparently they are not very uniform and when you see Spanish cities from above you realize that spers really like that uniformity and make maybe that's why the voted Caston de Plana has L the earliest city of Spain but put that aside this city has plenty of advantages one of the biggest Parks
is the good infrastructure available like big supermarkets pharmacies all these things this city features efficient public transportation and well maintained roads make it easy to get around the A highspeed train connects Caston to major cities like Madrid and Barcelona offering convenience and connectivity castan also has good private healthcare options the Vista castan Hospital is considered one of the best in Spain for example close to the city there are plenty of small villages where you can have a quiet life with access to all this Urban infrastructure the beautiful beaches of Costa De laar are just a
short drive away perfect for relaxing Days by the Sea here is what a local told us about castan open quote this city is usually regarded has a bit do if compared to other Capitals in Spain but the villages are some of the best in the whole country this include both the country side and the coastal Ones and remember when I told you that the average rent in Tampa Florida is $1,680 per month let's see what you could rent in Caston for half of this price $800 or 740 for only $686 you can rent the street
bedroom apartment with 93 square m already furnish it if you want something even bigger for $817 you can rent an entire duplex this living room is huge you can throw a party there but let's say that castan with its 150,000 residents is too big for you you want something smaller in fact that is indeed what another Resident of the region of valaya told us open quote if you don't want somewhere touristy and prefer to live a quiet life look for a smaller City in the region of Valencia you'll be able to find sizable houses with
a pool outside the city itself that's what I would look for if I were in your position and that's what we went to look for and the first smaller City we found is not one but actually two in one sagunto and Puerto de sagunto sagunto with a population of around 65,000 residents combined historical charm with modern amenities only a 30 minute drive from Valencia Puerto de sagunto the coastal part of the municipality offers beautiful beaches and a relaxed atmosphere attracting many exps infrastructure in sagunto is also robust efficient public transport including 16 regular daily trains
to Valencia makes commuting easy the Proximity to Valencia just 28 kilom away means that the amenities of a big city are within easy rich without the hustle in busto I remember the local who told us that we could find an apartment with swimming access for less than €1,000 in these cities he was absolutely right because we found a house with S Pool access for less than that a fully furnished house with a lovely verenda and swimming pool access for only 825 and all that is located only 200 M from the pla the laa it's mind-blowing
that for such a low price you can live in such a nice place but let's say that Puerto de sagunto and sagunto with their 105,000 residents combined it is still too big for you and you want an even smaller city that is even cheaper and has a fine let me present to you the city of gandia located less than 1 hour by car from Valencia with a population of about 75,000 residents it offers A Perfect Blend of convenient City Life and tranquil coastal living they also have many restaurants with traditional dishes in fact locals recommended
that anyone who goes to gandia should try the local Fida despite being in such a splendid location the cost of living there is significantly lower than in larger coastal cities of the Valencia region in this city you do not find as many as expats as in Valencia or Puerto de sagunto and that might be a good thing first because the local community is friendly and Welcoming so with then you learn Spanish and a bit of the valayan dialect in my channel I always stress how important is to blend with the locals and gandia is a
good place for that second and that is the most important since the expat Community is small the prices are also much lower there in gandia you can rent an apartment with swimming pool access for less than 600 the best part is that it's only 60 M from the beach from this Charing Beach and if you think this is an exception it's not in fact I found multiple other similar offers of a apartments with swimming pool access some of them are for as low as 525 per month this is the equivalent of $57 which is the
price to rent a parking space in some American cities this is the second largest city in Greece with around 1 million people in its metro area as with every Big City it has its pros and cons lots of cars and noise in certain parts but also good hospitals plenty of things to to do at an International Airport one good characteristic of thessalonica is that it's considerably cheaper and safer than Aton locals also say that one huge Advantage is it how close the city is to haiki Peninsula which has wonderful beaches national parks and is just
1 hour drive away the best neighborhoods of Talon for an exped according to locals are calamaria a city by itself Sui and TBA however one local alerted us that tumba might be chaotic before and after football games this is what a local told us about the city open quote thessalonica is the way to go beautiful popular easy to walk around inexpensive great people and quote well let's check what we can afford in the salonic with onethird of the rent of a studio in Boston this means $970 or less than €900 we found this Waterfront aart
with 105 square m and three bedrooms and this Majestic View for only €700 $770 per month in Boston for a three-bedroom apartment you would pay $5,800 and in Boston you would not have that view or that weather or easy access to tasa malata here you have all that for $770 per month but there is a city that ranks even higher than the salonic for patri ares it is kamata in the peloponese region it's smaller with around 70,000 residents but with this size you have most of the benefits of a City without the cows and high
prices this is what a local told us open quote I think it's hard to beat Kalamata has a value proposition for remote work and it's only 2.5 hours from aens by car end quote by the way if you are fun of Olives like me know that this city has some of the best in the world so what a person can rent in camata for less than €900 first of all €900 is too much for Camata you will simply not need to spend all that an apartment with two bedrooms with a stunning view of the Meenan
golf costs only €500 per move $550 in Boston a parking spot can cost more than that and talking about views let's talk about a place that nearly one in every two local to us is a good place to retire in Greece creit but creit is a big island so we focus on a specific City Haya a city with 110,000 residents haa is a contrast to heracleon the kept of creit which is larger and not as beautiful and if you talk about beauty well Hana really scor some points on this Factor while at the same time
the driving skills of the local received a fair amount of Crites this is what a resident told us about the city open quote ha is super gorgeous but the whole driving is different you really have to be careful end quote since the city has more tourist appeal the prices are a bit higher still there are plenty of good properties under our budget of €900 check this apartment here I couldn't believe how good is the location from the balcony you can see the sea althor this lemon tree is cutting a bit of the view and this
is how close the beach is the price 620 per month or just $680 another C increase locals recommended for retirement ISO not far from ha but much smaller with only 34,000 people well before finishing I want to leave the words of an expecting grease he kind of summarized everything open wot has someone making around $2,000 monthly I Find the food Landscapes housing at the right price private healthare access social life and entertainment options in Greece all great additionally most in Greece to speak English better than in many other [Applause] places and the first city you
recommend is mish I'm kidding the first city recommend for for RAR is Budapest and if you are user to our Channel you might be surprised that because we almost never recommend Capital Cities to our public they are more expensive more noisy have more traffic and in many cases they are more dangerous yes Paris I'm talking about you however in the case of Budapest this is not really true yes this city is much bigger than the average Hungarian town with a population of 1.8 million residents which is a size similar to Vienna and Hamburg for example
but the size it does not make it too expensive as I said before Budapest is much cheaper than other central European capitals like waro or pra while offering a comparable level of infrastructure the city has plenty of beautiful Parks like the Vos get and mares G by the way if I'm pronouncing these name incorrectly and I'm probably I am doing that please correct me in the comment section 26% of Budapest City Center is covered by trees for comparison only 1.4% of London's Downtown has Street coverage this makes Budapest a remarkably Green City the Hungarian Capital
also has a growing network of cycling paths particularly along the danb River and in the Buddha Hill the city's healthc care infrastructure is well regarded with several Top Tire Hospitals and Clinics notable institutions include Sam VI University clinic and the Buddha Health Center both providing a high standard of care The Budapest fed list International Airport is located only 16 kilomet from the city center the airport is easily accessible by public transport and get ready for some really good news this airport is the main Hub of Wither a very inexpensive Hungarian airline that allows you to
visit nearly anywhere in Europe if you are American imagine wither has being the European version of Spirit Airlines but with much better quality and I guess fewer chances that it will be assaulted by a fellow passenger now where are the best places to live in Buddha pest well Buddha pest can be divided into two big houses Buddha and past and Forex patar the best recommendations are in Buddha this is what a resm told us open quote Buddha part is R chill much Greener you cannot really find anything shady there end quote districts 1 2 3
11 and 12 in Buddha are particularly attractive they are known for their green spaces white nebor neighborhoods and good connections to other parts of the city some locals also might tell you that these districts Are expensive so let's check the prices there what can you afford in the best districts of Budapest for the same value of renting a little studio in Chicago 1,512 which is the same as 536,000 Hungarian fors I found this spacious three bedroom apartment fully furnished in the first district in the heart of Buddha just under the castle and just a short
walk from The Splendid prominet of the Dano River the price 49,3 56 for or €1,250 this is less than $1,400 so you can live in a renovated spatial and bright three bedroom apartment in the heart of a safe European capital for less than what to pay in a small studio in a violent area of Chicago If instead of living in a three-bedroom apartment you prefer two bedroom apartment there are options in the 12 district for €799 per month just $880 if instead of renting you prefer to purchase a house so you can qualify for a
golden Visa in a few minutes I'll show what you can buy Hungary and it will be mind-blowing so keep watching now let's say that instead of a capital with 1.8 million people you prefer to live in a smaller and calmer City but still with good infrastructure the next city we recommend is exactly that and for those thinking of retiring Hungary this place is much cheaper than Budapest and talking about sead is the third largest City in the country with 161,000 residents and is known for its educational institutions and cultural events SE is also noted for
its mild climate and high number of sunny days makes the appealing option for rares seeking a comfortable environment public transportation in Sega is well developed with TRS buses and trolley buses servicing the city a monthly public transport pass cost the equivalent to $22 the city also has a decent range of healthcare facili fa ities managed and operated by the local universities the facility is managed by the University of SE Albert s gorgi Medical School are especially well renowned the city's lower pace of life and lower cost of living makes attractive choice for those looking to
return a budget the cost of living seed is significantly lower than in Budapest rental prices for one bedroom apartment in the city center around 300 to 500 us per Mon it's perfectly possible to find an apartment already furnished in the city center like this one here for only 160,000 foring per month this is less than $460 after sead another city that might be a good fit for retirement in Hungary is p p is a historical City south or Western Hungary very close to Croatia it's famous for its Rich cultural heritage including UNESCO world heritage sites
the cost of living p is lower than in Budapest and similar to seet a Two-bedroom apartment in uran Vos pets goes for 200,000 for around $560 per month now let's say that instead of renting you want to buy a property a property that would qualify you to obtain a Hungarian golden visa and they'll put you on the path to Hungarian citizenship that means a property costing at least €250,000 so let's check which kind of real estate that means in Budapest that would mean bright new or renovated apartments with three to five bedrooms in good locations
If instead of a big city you prefer to live in a Countryside for less than 300,000 you can buy a four bedroom house in palotas just 1 hour away from Budapest with are all fishing pond that sounds like a retirement Retreat to me we start with jalon this is a city with around 140,000 residents in Western Poland close to Germany the city is located between two large cities Pon 1 and 1/2 hours by car and Berlin 2 and 1/2 hours via Expressway and Highway a flick bus to Berlin cost less than 14 so you can
go for a day trip if you get bored of all the 16 polish Regional capitals zalon good is the second cheapest and the average housing price There is almost 60% lower than in waro the climate there is also not as cold as in other parts of Poland they even have wider here is what A local told us about life there open quote gelon good is great not too big not too small it's just right in the middle end quote now let's imagine you want to rent an apartment in galura and your budget is $850 Which
is less than half of the average rent of a one-bedroom apartment in Philadelphia a city 25 times more violent than Poland $850 is the equivalent of 3,300 sloes so this is our maximum budget with this budget you can rent in galona GAA three-bedroom apartment with 70 square m built with high standard materials and are R equip it in a quiet part of the city but conveniently close to the city center and all that for 2,800 lotes or less than $730 in Philadelphia we've only $730 of budget you would live in kington where well you light
gets tabed by the fent new junkies occupying the sidewalks but I promise you the five best places to live in Poland and the next on the list is Gia this city is an interesting cave because it's a mle city with 244,000 residents but it's part of a metropolitan area C Tri City through yasto often polls do not refer to Ginia alone but to the entire metropolitan area as a single entity so while having the commonness and pace of a medial City Ginia offers all the conveniences of a larger Metropolis according to ostat Gina consistently tops
Poland's quality of life index offering better air Quality and more green spaces than cities like waro or crackle the coastal location give access to beaches which you can effortlessly go by using public transport and talking about that Gina has a well-developed public transport system including buses and trolling buses and E access TOA airport for international flights I went a few times there some of my friends live there it's indeed a nice city this is what a local told us about Gia open quote sea Lakes Forest Hills if you like mountain biking you would be nicely
surprised clean air three interesting cities in the price of one end quote entering to the subject of cost of living gini is not as cheap as gilon Aura but it's not expensive either for our budget of $850 per month or less you will easily find plenty of apartments close to the Sea like this one here that is just a short 50-minute walk from the C prominade and for a mere 1,900 zotes per month less than $500 the next city might surprise some polls it's bios CWA I went to bios CWA multiple times because it's close
to one of my favorite ski resorts in Poland col CH with a popular of around 170,000 people it combines the charm of a smaller City and the convenience of urban life the city itself is a bit gray but the nature surrounding is just planted both in the summer and during the winter a local told us this about Bosco yawa open quote absolutely the Best city to live in Poland not too big not too small nice views skin and check beer in 25 minutes driving distance end quote and the fact that there are so many parks
ski areas and other tourist attractions nearby surprisingly does not make the city expensive for less than $600 per month you can live in a three-bedroom apartment in a historical building in the center of the city the four 50 cities that I recommend are pushkov and Paso both cities have less than 70,000 residents but they are ideal for those who want to live close to waro as I say waro is very expensive when compared to the rest of Poland but these two smaller cities are connected to the capital by very frequent trains the prices are super
low and it takes less than 20 minutes to arrive to warell downtown here is what a resident of one of them told us open quote bruskov is great about 20 minutes by train to waro and has everything you would expect end quote another good Advantage is that these cities are very familyfriendly and quite Cal despite being so close to wara remember the palace I show at the very beginning of this video they one with 450 square m almost 5,000 square ft that cost 9,000 floes to rent or $2,300 so it costs 35% less than an
apartment in Boston one could think that such a gem is Far From Any City in Poland in the middle of nowhere but it's Just on the outskirts of pet less than 24 kilm from the center of wara we start our list with the third best city for anyone considering retirement in Romania Oria the first thing you notice about the city of 183,000 residents is that is one of the western most cities of Romania just 6 kilometers from the border with Hungary and this is a positive thing for a few reasons as I mentioned before the
most developed part of Romania is the West Second Oria is well connected to many European capitals it's closer to Budapest Vienna Belgrade and brat laava than it is to Bucharest even CCO in Poland a city with so many nice things to do is closer TOA than bukarest this has many advantages one of that is that aadia is closer to major airports like The Budapest F International Airport which is a hub for wizer a Budget Airline that can fly you to nearly anywhere in Europe Europe the second advantage of such a privileged location is that Ora
received a considerable amount of funds from the EU and the city improved considerably in terms of infrastructure the city is also home to some Modern hospitals including isalo Clinic Udan the oroa andalo Pelican maybe I'm pronouncing some words incorrectly here Ora is also known for its abundance of parks and green spaces such as paresco and there are many barro and art Novo buildings from the times of the aarian Empire which are very pleasant for the ice this is what a local told us About the city open quote aadia is a clean City with no traffic
and receiving High U funding generally good people but you have to open yourself to them first there are a few events there too but nothing major if you like quiet Clean Cities I highly recommend it end quote in terms of the cost of living the city is 16% cheaper than Bucharest let's see what you can rent in aadia for the same price as a CH studio in Philadelphia $141 per month well for less than that just €1,000 or $1,110 you can live in a very luxurious apartment with 120 square m if you want something less
fancy for $500 you can rent a fully furnished two-bedroom apartment the Second City I would recommend for anyone planning to move or retire in Romania is Cil it's a city with 134,000 residents located in Transylvania it has a pretty well conserved old town with landmarks such as the brooken toown national museum and a council Tower it is also a very C City despite having a midsize and well over 100,000 people it feels smaller a personally story is that when I first arrived in C it was around 10 in the night on a weekday I wanted
to go out at night to eat something but everything was closing or already closed the best I could find was a convenience store so I bought a sandwich and that was my dinner that kind of of correlates with what people say about the city the quality of life is good the prices are affordable the infrastructure is decent and it has nearly everything you need but it still Is as calm as a small City this is what a resident told us about the city open quote C is the best pedestrian friendly bike friendly for rer friendly
the food is better and the people are nicer compared to the other options it is however boring for nightlife and end quote the cost of living C is 19.3% lower than in Bucharest while rents are 33% lower on average with only €500 or $550 you can rent a large three- room apartment with 100 square met and now it's time for the best city to retire in Romania just a reminder that this ranking was made based on personal experiences from residents but also multiple sources you can access all the sources by subscribing to my patreon Tire
two members get my three best selling books on living overseas while Tire three get a one1 call to discuss plans to move abroad but hurry this offer is limited to the first 20 subscribers so head now to patreon.com thee underline xat to join and finally the best city to retire in Romania is brov if you watched our video about the best cities in Europe for remote workers you're already familiar with brov brov is a bit bigger than the two previous CI cities with almost 240,000 people of all the cities I have been to in Romania
it's my favorite and I'm not alone the majority of the locals even from other Romanian cities list Brasov has one of the best if not the best city in Romania for a forigner looking to retire abroad brov is the steepen in history with a Medieval core that includes landmarks like the black church bagara bu in the 15th century the city sex roots are evident in its architecture and layout located in the foo views of the kpaa mountains brov has also plenty of nature around I love it hiking to the top of the Tampa Hill just
outside the city the view from there is brave taking very close to brov just 12 kilom away there is also a ski resort called pu and the national park Patra kayui the the city frequently hosts cultural events such as the golden stag International music festival and the brov International Film Festival Brasov also has several high quality medical facilities heg Maria and medlife are among the leading private healthcare providers with clinics and hospitals in the city many doctors in these private facilities speak English some locals might complain that Brasov is cold in the winter and that
is true but it's a city with the forest stations very well marked so you also have a golden Autumn a magnificent spring and a pleasant summer unlike other cities like T Mishu brov is not too hot in July additionally Brasov central location makes a convenient Bas for traveling through Romania Bucharest is just a 2 and a half hour train R away one characteristic that Brasov has that many midsized Romania cities don't maybe except for clu is that already has a considerable community of exps and good part of the population speaks English this is what a
local told us open quote I would recommend Brasov over Bucharest orlu has it's cheaper way less crowded close to Nature and with nicer people younger people speak good English and you won't have any issues in bars coffee shops or restaurants since we have mentioned how affordable brop is time to talk about the housing costs with only €375 or $415 you can rent a one roomy studio in a central location this is what you would pay for a parking spot in some American cities but if you want to spend a bit more like 1,000 for $100
that in Philadelphia would afford to was my studio Brash off with such budget you can live in a 236 Square met apartment 2,500 ft Square ft in one of the most expensive parts of the cities and already fully furnished and all that for €1,100 or just $1,223 for comparison this is what you can afford in Chicago with the same value a small Studio at North Sheridan Road Road a fairly dangerous area personally I would choose brush off any day over Chicago now some of you might be asking why I didn't recommend CL after all for
many it's the best city in Romania K might be a great place if you're looking for a lively city with a lot of night life they have universities thousands of students there and vibrate streets however all this comes at a price in many aspects clu is as expensive as Booker rest and if you're considering retirement abroad I guess That night life is not worth the extra money paid on rent still if you enjoy pubs and bars with an international atmosphere CL might be a great option despite their higher rent the first city that residents recommend
for expats planning to retire in Malta is is Li this is one of malta's top destinations for expats due to its combination of convenience lifestyle amenity and proximity to essential Services located on Northeastern Coast is Liam is famous for this trand its main prominent lined with restaurants cafes and retail outlets one of the key benefits of living is Li is its access to healthcare the city is home to several clinics and it's just a short drive from mat day Hospital malta's largest hospital the St James hospital which we mentioned previously is also located in islama
the town is also well connected to by public transportation with numerous bus routes linking it to other parts of the island including the Capal valeta just 15 minutes away another advantage of is Lima is that it's one of the few places in Malta that are really walkable this is what a local told us open quote I live in islama and I live without a car yes it's walkable everything you need is in 20 30 minute walk radius you can also easily visit valeta by hopping onto a ferry if the weather isn't bad the sea front
location of zma is at the same time an advantage And at Advantage because such Sanic and privileged surroundings are good for the eyes but bad for the pockets yes is is not among the cheapest place in Malta especially closer to the Sea still if you go a bit farther from the seaside prominade prices drop considerably and it's possible to find good options for housing for affordable prices let's imagine that you're moving out from Pittsburgh Pennsylvania a place where the rent of a one-bedroom apartment cost $1,314 per month or €1,200 what can you afford in is
Lima with the same money you would spend in Pittsburgh €1,200 or less if you want to get fancy and have a SE view you can rent this 65 Square met apartment just a 2-minute walk from the Tiga Beach and it comes fully furnished the price € 1,150 it's the average price you would pay Pittsburgh but with a much better View and much less violence since Pittsburgh is 30 times more violent than Malta if you don't mind leing a bit farther from the seaside you can find much bigger apartment for this price like this 100 square
met apartment with a rent of €1,100 per month if these prices already sound good to you be aware that there is another place in Malta that is much cheaper and it was the most recommended by locals by a large margin however despite being in Malta it's not on the main island where are located liama valeta and the airport the best place to retire in Malta is a Neighboring island called goo and to say that might raise some polemics see Mal is not really just an island but an archipelago of three inhabited islands and goo is
the second biggest island of the archipelago just after the main island of Malta itself there is a huge difference in population density between the two Island Malta island has 246 square kilm and around 510,000 residents meanwhile goo island has 25% of the size of Malta 67 square kilom but a much much smaller population around 33,000 residents only or just 6% of the population of Malta so the main island has almost 1,700 people per square kilometer a number that puts it among the 10 most densely habitated countries on Earth on the other hand goo has a
much much lower population density close to just 500 people per square kilometer go is not a desert island far from that but it feels way more empty than the island of Malta due to having fewer people per square kilometer it's also much more quiet in fact this is a point that many residents listed has an advantage since malta's main island is considered a bit noisy goo offers a Serene environment that is perfect for those seeking Tranquility meanwhile on the downside people who move to goo tend to feel not very welcome by some of the locals
called goans This is what a resident told us open quote I am from The main island and my husband is Irish and we moved to goo the quiet is by and far the best thing about goo for us has we mov it to get some sense of peace and quiet that we're missing we've had some trouble with some go turns Bank rude but we also have met some really good people here like any place it's luck of the draw end quote another advantage of Goo is the lower requirement to qualify for malt residence through the
global residence program in malta's main island you would need to buy a property valued at least €275,000 in goo this thft is smaller 250,000 if you need to Vis the capital for any reason goo is well connected to Malta via regular Ferry serves the ferry has an average 16 departures per day and the trip between the island just takes 45 minutes Go's main town is Victoria and has almost 7,000 residents but there are 10 other towns ranging from 1 to 4,000 residents so the population is quite evenly spread across the island one of Go's key
benefits is Affordable cost of living rent and property prices in goo can be 30 to 40% cheaper than in areas like is Lima or valeta with the same 1€ 1,200 EUR budget we use it to search for rent in is Lima you would be amazed at what you can find in goo for €1,000 you can rent a three bedroom apartment in a sea front location fully air conditioned and with two ample balconies in case you decide to sunbath going a bit into the country side of the Island to a village called munar you can rent
a beautiful recently restored townhouse meters away from the Village Square for just € 800 per month now let's say you want to live in Malta using the Mal Global residence program and enjoy all the low taxes and other benefits we listed before for this purpose you must buy a property costing at least €250,000 so what can we find in goo for this price if you want to live just in front of the sea this 120 square met three bedroom apartment in the town of jauk delivers you exactly that for €300,000 the second example is this
three bedroom apartment in one of the most beautiful Villages of Goo H yelen it's even bigger with 150 square m more than 1,600 sare ft it has two balconies and is fully air conditioned and now that for just 275,000 this is the equivalent of $300,000 so this apartment with a seat view on a senic Mediterranean island cost the same has a townhouse halfway from Chicago to Gary Indiana I leave the choice between these two for [Applause] you the first city is liol which was the most mentioned name when I asked residents in Cyprus what is
the best city on the Island located in Cyprus southord Coast Li maso is the country's second largest city just after nikosia While the city itself has around 110,000 residents the urban area has close to 200,000 people according to a local Lio is better than other cities in Cyprus because while NIOSA has a lot of people but no beaches and pafos or other cities have beautiful beaches but almost no people Lio has the perfect Bland of beaches and an ideal amount of people to ensure that they don't get bored so according to Residents is a very
balanced City another positive side of maso is its large expatriate community and the city's infrastructure cars well to an international population medical facilities are topnotch with both private and public options available and many Healthcare Providers speak English by the way the marina is a centerpiece of the city with luxury AES Waterfront cafes and Sho is Lin in the harbor liasa is considered one of the one 100 best cities in the world in terms of quality of living according to the Mercer's quality of living ranking however all that comes at a price when we asked one
of the locals what is the best sitting Cyprus for xats he told us that open quote limaa is the best but it's ridiculously expensive end quote another local gave us a more complete description of the city open quote limao has quite friendly and outgoing people who enjoy life plent of resturants not always expensive night life is good and for all tastes of music has a very nice promin AG and a nice Vibe as a city until 5 10 years ago I would say liol was the best by far but I can't say that Is the
best anymore because of the ridiculously High Cost of Living end quote it's natural that locals you find limao expensive since it's even more expensive than the capital Nicosia but it's important to remember that Cyprus is not an expensive country and when it compare the most expensive city Cyprus to other cities in Europe or North America we see that limao is not that expensive expensive for example life there is 31% cheaper than in Fort Lauderdale Florida or 26% cheaper than in Brighton England needless to say that limao is not only cheaper but also has much better
weather in this case remember that by buying property of at least €300,000 the cot government provides you with a golden visa and after8 years citizenship in liau for a price close to that you can buy this large 170 square meter apartment at just a walking distance from the marina if you prefer to rent there you can find a 65 squ met apartment with a spectacular view located just 50 m from the seaside and already fully furnished for just € 1,350 per month which means something around $1,450 this is far less than the average rent in
Chicago for example but still by cot standards limao is indeed expensive but what if I told you that there is another city less than one hour distant from liol which has a decent infrastructure lovely beaches and the prices there are way way cheaper than Lio I'm talking about Lara located in The Southeastern coast of Cyprus Lara is a Charming City with about 85,000 residents the thing about it is that many locals will say that the beaches in larnaka are not as nice as in limao this is a matter of personal opinion honestly I found Mackenzie
beach one of the many beaches from Lara quite Pleasant Lara is also a more central location so you are much closer to the expectacular dazzling and unbelievably beautiful beaches of Eastern Cyprus I'm talking about places like the Fig Tree Bay Beach which is not only among the most beautiful in Cyprus but in entire Europe but the advantages of Lara go beyond the beaches and the location linas harf is is its senic Coastline especially along Fuda Beach a palm lined area breaming with cafes or restaurants and shops here it's common to see locals and expats alike
enjoy a morning coffee or an evening stroll another highlight is the easy travel access thanks to the L International Airport the largest airport in Cyprus if one day you get bored and want to visit somewhere else using this airport you can hop on a wizer or runer flight and visit almost any country in Europe for just a few dozen euros this is what a local told us about Lara open quote I recommend Lara 100% it's quieter more laidback and loads of natural beauty liasa in osia are a bit of concrete jungle cities and much busier
also laa is more in the center of the island so You are just 25 minutes away from nikosia 35 minutes away from Lio and 25 minutes away from protaras and aapa despite being smaller than Li maso l still has a decent infrastructure and nearly all the urban amenities and expat would expect in terms of healthcare the ltina General Hospital is the primary public Hospital there but there is also the S Rafael a well-known private hospital with modern facilities there is a large choppy Mall the Metropolis mall with over 100 stores including International Brands like Zada
and Mar Spencer and many restaurants and cafes and again it's my personal opinion but I find the public bus Network in laa quite decent I never had any issue other than punctuality and the ticket cost only €2.4 in larica you can easily rent a 85 square meter apartment with a SE view for Just €850 per month this is less than $920 if you prefer to buy a property of at least 300,000 to win a Cypress golden Visa in Lara you can find some really interesting opportunities like this 145 Square met myet located just 230 M
from the SE and with swimming pool access just for €320,000 so this is Limerick located in the west of Ireland Limerick is the third largest city in the country with a population of about 102,000 people this city is way cheaper than Dy and also offers a very good quality of life Limer has a Well-developed transportation system bu Adam operates regular bus services through the city and to nearby towns with frequent routes the cost of a monthly bus pass in Limer is around €60 in dubling it's almost the double lii is also closed to Shanel airport
just 25 minutes away by car and this airport offers flies to Major destinations including the US and the UK the city is located just two hours from dubl by train or car and the road from Dublin to Limerick is the M7 Motorway one of the best in the country the city also has a respectable Healthcare infrastructure for its size the University Hospital Limer is the main healthcare provider and the largest hospital in the mwest region serving over 400,000 people in the surrounding counties while not being a big city Limer also has all their Urban amenities
one could expect like multiple supermarkets from Tesco to Audi or the local Department Shop dunis store if you enjoy spending time outside and I hope you do Limerick offer many green spaces and walking trails the people Park in the city center is a large public park with Gardens a playground and walking paths the Chanel River Walk provides Sanic views and is a favorite spot for local Runners a tip from a resident is to try the new kusak Olympic Trail remember when I say that lately certain crime is increasing in dubling well here is another strong
point of Limerick it's safer according to the travel safe abroad do base Limerick is the safest among the major Irish cities and that is curious because Limerick got a bad rap during the early 2000s because It was a crime hotspot but those days are long gone this is what a local told us about the city openport like any city of significant size Limerick has some bad areas but it argue that some parts of dubling are more dangerous than Li limeri will ever be it's big enough that there is always something interesting going on but not
too big it feels overcrowded and impersonal I found people genuinely nice welcoming and down to earth it's a more authentic piece of Ireland than Dublin or goway end quote the biggest advantage of all however is the cost of living limmerick is much cheaper than du in all aspects it out is cheaper a beer the nearby pub is cheaper but most of all housing is much cheaper just pause here for a second and take a look at those numbers they are the average house prices in 2024 let's compare what you can rent for €2,000 or less
in each City in the central part of dubling with this budget of €2,000 per month you will not find much but you can rent a one-bedroom apartment with a tiny kitchen now let's check Limer and see what you can get for the same €2,000 there with the same budget you can rent an elegant two-bedroom apartment with a nice and cozy fireplace and a spacious kitchen so what would you choose I mean I know that Ireland is not the cheapest place in Europe but let's admit it has its charms despite the weather people in lvia are
quite well Educated and many residents in the capital speak English in fact and that is curious the percentage of people that speak English in lva is higher than in very touristic countries like Spain or Portugal that is impressive and life there is very affordable Ria they cap has one of the lowest cost of living among all European Union capitals the leing cost there are less than half of the cost of living Boston for example you can live in a stunning revitalized historic building in the center of Ria for only 380 EUR per month but if
you are retie from outside the European Union the biggest Advantage is still to come it's the ease of residency lvia has streamlined procedures for obtaining residence permits for no you Nationals their government offers a specific residence permit for retirees making the process straightforward and accessible laia has the lowest minimum income requirement among all of the Shen Zone retirement visas it's literally the lowest you need a mly pension of €900 to be eligible and if you're tired of enjoying the cafes and parks of Ria the Lan retirement Visa also allows you to work remotely for no
laian employers or clients during your residency period so the first city I want to tell you about is Sterling located in central Scotland steerling serves as a bridge between the lowlands and the highlands it is located around 58 km Northwest of Edinburg and 42 kilometers Northeast of Glasgow make it well connected with Scotland's major cities steering has a Population of approximately 37,000 so it's a small City but it's big enough to find many of the conveniences you need very close is the fourth Valley roal Hospital in lawat providing comprehensive Services there are also plenty of
local doctors and pharmacies easily accessible another good point is the city central location making it a transport Hub the steerling railway station has frequent connections to Glasgow 45 minutes or Edinburg 50 minutes while local buses connect steerling to nearby Villages outdor enthusiasts can enjoy Kings Park in the walking trails of the back walk which is regarded as one of Europe's finest Urban walkways this is what a local told us about the city open quote I live in Sterling it's great that the gateway to the highlands in a matter of minutes you can be out on
a country walk the train and bus services are very good and regular and you can be in Glasgow Edinburg or dundy in under an hour the historical C culture is so intertwined with its modern aspects the people are friendly too end quote another Pro steerling is that is one of Scotland's safest city I and it has a low crime rate of just 35 incidents per 1,000 residents if all these advantages are not enough wait until you discover the price of housing in the steerling and how much cheaper it is if you compare to Edinburg there
you can rent a flat in the city center for 800 or less in any Marg a similarly centrally located apartment cost 1,150 lb so at least Close to 50% more if you prefer to buy a house and have a budget of 2 100,000 around $250,000 in the steerling you can buy spacious three bedroom house with a Terrace in any Mark for such a price you buy just a one bedroom flat huge difference right but there is another city that might be even better than steerling it's perf located in Eastern Scotland perf lies on the banks
of the river Thai 72 km north of Edinburg and 96 km Northeast of Glasgow with a population of almost 47,000 people is slightly bigger than Sterling since it's bigger than Sterling the offer of Public Services in perf is also more robust the healthcare infrastructure for example is ured by the perf Royal infirmary which offers a range of medical services including care for older adults the perf railway station offers connections to Edinburg Glasgow and inest and perf is also one of the central hubs of the large bus network from City Link if we talk about lasure
well for a city of its size perf really shines the perf Concert Hall hosts life performances while the puff Muse Art Gallery features local history and art outdoor activities include walking along the river tie or relaxing in north in park both of which offer Serene and Sanic environments this is what a local told us about puff open quote buff is a lovely Place large Enough to get entertainment nice restaurants and shopping but close to beautiful countryside end quote the most interesting thing is that despite being bigger than Sterling perfs is even cheaper there you can
rent a two-bedroom apartment located a short walk for the city center for just 550 per month less than half the price of cities like glasgo or Edinburg if you prefer to buy a place let's consider that you have the same housing budget of £200,000 that we use it for example of sterling in perv you can buy a three bedroom terasa Villa in a peaceful kak in the popular Western Edge District of the city it's a fine price to live in a city that is small enough to avoid the so crushing gridlock of bigger cities but
big enough to have everything you need hether Rasel told us open quote puff is the godlock zone of Scotland it's not too much not too little it's just right which European cities offer the best mix of low prices and quality of life but nobody's talking about them can you imagine yourself living this place for less than $1,000 I analyzed more than 200 European cities comparing the cost of living healthc care and lifestyle to bring you this list all the eight names I will tell you have been handpicked after reviewing and talking to locals about things
like affordability and quality of life in these places you find everything you need for less than the cost of rent in the US so why settle for expensive Violent cities when these affordable gems are so much better ready because your ideal retirement could be waiting in one of these eight amazing cities and the next 20 minutes might be lifechanging so the first city is agas in Spain and by the way the list will be in alphabetical order except for the last name which I've saved as a surprise so ever heard about aglas if not you
are in for a pleasant surprise This Charming coastal town in Southeastern Spain is often overlooked autonomous community of Mia combines the Tranquility of a small community with the beauty of the Mediterranean with a population of around 35,000 it offers an intimate yet Lively atmosphere that many exps and rares find irresistible agas has plenty of other advantages starting with its stunning natural scenery places like La PL maras or the hor we are talking about wonderful beaches a warm summer a mild winter and a relaxed pace of life that makes each day feel like a retreat the
city also has plenty of Attraction so you can convince her friends and relatives to visit you very often the Castillo Des sanan perched high on a hill offers panoramic views of the Mediterranean that are nothing short of Brave taking take a walk along the which hugs the coastline and you find it perfect for evening strolls or enjoying a quiet coffee while watching the word go by if you are a fan of festivals the agas carnival is a must experience this Is what a local from agas told us open quote people from Barcelona or Madrid usually
look down on people from Mia it must be a Spanish Insider joke but my parents have lived happily there for 20 years now you can probably find some of the country's most beautiful beaches there there are beautiful nature parks for hiking everywhere end quote now let's talk about what makes agas practical for retes affordability with quality of life housing is Affordable and the low cost of living means you can enjoy a comfortable lifestyle without the stretching your budget there are many apartments for rent below 550 just minutes from the beach if you prefer to buy
and here is maybe the biggest surprise of this entire video you can buy an entire detached house with c for only €100,000 less than $112,000 for comparison the cheapest property with a SE in Fort louderdale Florida cost more than two times this price and it's not a house but a tiny studio so in my opinion in terms of cost benefit it's hard to find a coastal city in the US that can beat aglas in buia the next city on our list also starts with an A remember the first seven cities are in alphabetical order except
for the last one which is a very special Cas so keep watching so next up is an in France and let me tell you this place is straight out of a fairy tale nestled in Southeastern France near the Swiss Border it's lovely col the per of the French Alps and for good reason the population here is about 130,000 and that number was somehow a surprise for me because the city looks smaller than that and it's very very walkable at the heart of n is a standing lake with the same name and crystal clear waters that
seem to change Shades depending on the light you can swim there until early October take a Lely boat ride or cycle along the lake cic paths and let's not forget the Majestic Alps surrounding the city they offer hiking trails es skiing opportunities and some of the most breathtaking views you ever see there is Old Town that could be any postcard and quain canals wiing their way through the area there is also the chatau den see an imposing castle with Rich history or ponu a Victorious Bridge with romantic views of the lake plus it's close to
Geneva International Airport which is super convenient for international travel and if you're into cultural events you love the annual and a international animated film festival a must see for film enthusiasts this is what a resident of NC told us about the city open quote I live in N Center and I really enjoy it because there is quite a bit more happening in they see than the smaller Villages this area has a reputation for being filled with Rich old people which is definitely true but there are a good amount of families as well something that I
like about this area is that in the summer there are so many nice outdoor things to do and it's The same for the winter end quote now here's the deal and see is a little pricier than some of the other cities on this list I'm not going to lie but you are paying for topnotch quality of life it's safe it's beautiful and it's got a great atmosphere there you can rent a two bedroom apartment for € 1,170 per month around $1,250 this is 21% less than what you would pay for a similar apartment in Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania an important disclaimer about NC is that if you really want to get well integrated with the local it's imperative to learn some French but don't worry it's a very fun language to learn in the description in the comment section I have the link for a method I used to learn new languages and with that link you can trade for free and if you subscribe you'll get a 40% discount time to jump to the next city and it's located in a country that I'm sure you expected to see in this list let me introduce you
to Braga a northern Portuguese jam with a fascinating Bland of Old World charm and modern conveniences with a population of almost 150,000 people this city has a rich history that stretches back to Roman times it's no wonder it's often called the city of archbishops its religious and cultural Roots Run Deep I had been to Braga just two years ago and I fell in love with so many things including this delicious wonderful spectacular outwardly pastel J bakalao that is sold In this place right in the center of the city Braga has also a treasure Trove of
attractions that are bound to leave you in all take the bonus the for instance a UNESCO world heritage site and a masterpiece of Baro architecture if you watched some of my other videos probably know how much I love Baro to the point that my wife is almost jealous of my admiration for joh Lorenzo berini then there is the braa cathedral the oldest in Portugal another absolute Masterpiece that I admired for hours sometimes viewers might ask why I talk so much about architecture and my viewers about retirement abroad it's because I'm a partisan of the idea
that a good dose of beauty and aesthetic magnificence makes our life better just like cinnamon in a sweet bomb and this type of cinnamon is what you find is it's like Braga in neighboring cities like barcelos or gimar what makes Braga truly special to is its atmosphere it's beautiful clean and very safe and when you are ready to explore Beyond Braga you appreciate its proximity to Francisco sakaro International Airport in PTO less than an hour away and with destinations on multiple continents getting around Braga is a breeze the city is compact enough to explore on
food or by bike and its public transportation system is reliable and affordable another big draw of Braga is the cost of living it's much easier on the wallet than Lisbon or PTO yet it offers an equally Rich lifestyle ding out there is a joy take for example the Taso the faka despite the funny name this is one of the best restaurants in Braga and there you can have a full meal with entry and beverages for less than € 10 however brag is not the warmest city in Portugal don't expect Al of the weather there this
is what a local told us open quote PTO is cheaper than Lisbon and Braga is cheaper than Porto paga are a lot safer than Lisbon but also more rainy and cold and cold and cold now you might be asking about housing right bra is the kind of City where you find plenty of housing options for less than 700 per month like less than $750 this is 30% cheaper than Memphis Tennessee so in Braga you pay less to live in a much much safer city than Memphis and Braga has Baro architecture from Portugal our fourth city

a good book it's impossible not to few at peace there the city is well connected by Road and it's only about an a 2hour drive to T salonic gree's second largest city from there the salonic airport offers flights to Major European destinations so you are never too far from your next adventure I made an entire video about how th salonic is one of the best cities in Greece for expart Ari but if you're looking for affordable living custodia onesa point it's among the cheapest cities in this list housing is budget friendly and the overall cost
of living is modest compared to larger Greek cities you can rent entire three-bedroom apartments for 350 or less this apartment for example is available for €300 less than $320 monthly this is less than what you would pay for a parking space in Boston in the US such a low price for such spectacular views sounds almost unbelievable and since we are talking about beautiful views the 50 City in our list deliveries just that lublana in lovenia Imagine a capital city that doesn't feel overwhelming noisy and excessively accelerated rated but instead feels like a nice neighborhood that
is Luana for you with a population Of around 28 85,000 people Liana somehow manages to combine the energy of a capto with the friendliness and charm of a mown it got it all it's sty architecture you know what I'm talking about by now plenty of green spaces good infrastructure and walkability how we the stress and cows you would expect in a big city one of luana's biggest draws is its pedestrian friend friendly hotel a car-free Haven where you can wer to your heart's content when I was there I also enjoyed their chapi but I suspect
the cooks were bosnians actually anyway try the seapi it's it's good running through the heart of lublana is the Luan nit river which adds to the city's laidback Vibe its picturesque banks are lined with cozy cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy everything from a morning espresso to a liury dinner under Twi lights a local told us that open quote lublana is absolutely beautiful and one of the cleanest and safest cities in the world a lot of great dining options and a sort of laidback but very diverse night life and many cultural options the level
of spoken English is among the highest in the EU and people are not as open and joyful as in southern Europe but are in general very hospitable and helpful as long as you are respectful end quote and let's not forget Liana is one of the greenest Capitals in Europe which means you never too far from nature yes it's a very C City and you might get bored if you do just travel one hour West to the lake Bohini and oh W you be now I was and I don't have words to describe how beautiful that
place is now let's talk practicalities leaving Liana won't break the bank its cost of living is notably low than many Western European capitals Alo is more expensive than other capitals from former Yugoslavia like Belgrade pita or Saro a two-bedroom apartment like this one is from 800 to 900 per month Luana however is not for those who want mild Winters it can get cold but if you prefer mild Winters or even warm Winters the next city on this list is the perfect place for you Las pal the grand Canaria in hisain the vibrant heart of the
Canaria Island and it's a perfect place for those who hate vat taxes more about it in a few minutes with a population of around 380,000 people is the largest city in Grand Canaria and offers a little bit of everything from the vibrant energy of a bustling City to the Tranquility of the sun soaked Seaside Las Palmas has a unique charm that makes it an excellent choice for retirement and just wait until you hear about this special tax regime first let's talk beaches because Las palas is home to Las canteras one of the best Urban beaches
in Europe is the kind of place where we can swim or simply Take kroo Along its panoramic prominade but Las palas isn't just about The ocean the city's historically Veta district is briming with colonial era charm another highlight is this stunny Santana Cathedral infrastructure is another strength of Las palas in terms of healthcare it's to the University Hospital of grand Canadia ensuring top-notch Healthcare in always Within Reach for travel enthusiasts Grand Canada airport is just 20 minutes away offering flights to a wide range of European destinations one of the most appealing aspects of returning to
Las Palmas is a special tax regime which offers significant financial advantages to expats for example imagine wealth tax Spain does impose a wealth tax but the Canary Island offers gener exensions for most rares the tax applies only to assets exceeding €700,000 with an additional €300,000 exemption for your primary residence this means a married couple owning a property valued at 1,300,000 would likely pay no wealth tax at all Additionally the Canary Island benefits from lower tax rates overall thanks to their status has a special economic zone zc within spank for example the general indirect Canary Island
tax the local equivalent of vat is only 7% compared to Mainland spay 21% vat only property in Las palas is also appealing thanks to reasonable property taxes the average impo ebi or property tax is typically 0.4 to 1.1% of the cadastral value significantly lower than in many other European cities this makes Las palas not just a semi retreat but also a Smart Financial move for rores someone that live in Las palas told us that open quote amazing place I spent a total of about a year there very laidback lifestyle good internet relatively cheap because of
Island taxes instead of Mainland vat V8 lots to see and do only a fair ride away from the other Island in a cheap plane ticket to Europe end quote let's say that we've all these tax incentives you want to purchase a property in Las Palmas de Grand Canadia and your budget is €200,000 which in Miami would barely be enough to buy a 380 Square ft Studio but with that amount in last palas you can easily buy a three bedroom flat instead of a studio with 116 square m or 1,248 Square ft more than three times
larger than they studio in Florida impressive right has impressive but less known is the next city on our list VNA welcome to Bulgaria C Capital where Coastal charm meets affordability in one of the most vibrant cities along the Black Sea with a population of around 335,000 V offers the perfect mix of low prices good infrastructure and Beachside relaxation and irresistable trefecta for those looking to make the most of their Retirement one of the city's standout features is its SE Garden a massive Park that hugs the coastline it's the ideal spot for morning walks people watching
at one of the quaint cafes casual meetups over coffee or simply enjoying the fresh air maybe you never heard about the city but it has been an important Regional Center for a long time the V archaeological museum has Treasures dating back over 6,000 years for those who love to travel airport connects to numerous European destinations and public transportation within the city is reliable and inexpensive make it easy to get around without a car and next party VNA told us that open quote it's overall a nice city nice weather huge sand beaches with a lot of
small bars and clubs a lot of greenery and parks in the city center end quote another good point of VNA is its affordability that is why it has become so popular among the onom and remote workers for example the city is also growing popularity among expats which means New Commerce will find a welcoming community of like-minded people housing is budget friendly dining out won't stretch our finances and everyday expenses are refreshingly low compared to Western Europe and differently than neighboring Romania Bulgaria has much less restrictions on foreigners buying property imagine that you want to buy
a property there and your budget is just $95 $5,000 this is the price of a parking spot in Boston Massachusetts but in Vanna with that budget you can buy an apartment the golden sand sea resort with a parking space included so for the price that in Boston you buy only the parking in vaa you buy an apartment in a resort with your parking included to be better than that just if they offered a continued supply of kamita beer delivered to your door every month Bulgarian real estate agents take note if you're seeking a retirement that
offers a lower pace of life without sacrificing culture amenities or affordability V is a destination worth considering so far we have been presenting all the cities in this list in alphabetic order but now for the last one I decided to break this rule because this is by far the most interesting City in this list before we talk about it I would like to ask as more favor if you enjoy this episode please hit the like And subscribe buttons now time to talk about Kapur in the metropolitan region of B in Italy Capo is a Charming
little town in Italy's aula region that is has picturesk as it peaceful it has fewer than 20,000 residents and in a few seconds you will discover why this magic number is the best thing about the City capurso offers a slice of small town Tranquility while being less than 10 kilometers from the busing seat of body original Capal with everything you need Caputo's charm lies in its toric Ambiance and lower pace of Life at its heart is the basilic of Santa Maria dooso a stunning religious s that Attracts visitors from across the region the town's Charming
narrow streets and peaceful pastas create an Ambiance of Timeless Italian life or more specifically aulan life it's a place where you can live at your own pace visiting the local markets or sitting down to a simple but delicious meal at a family run Tratoria and it has less than 20,000 residents 20,000 for those who dis like paying high taxes like me it's a magic number in this case because capurso has a particularly enticing feature Italy's special tax scheme for smaller towns if you transfer your foreign pent to sou Italy and settle in a municipality with
fewer than 20,000 residents like auro you could qualify for a flat 7% income tax rate on your penion income no country in western Europe or offers you such a low income tax rate on your foreign paent regardless of your nationality combine this with the town's already low cost of living and you've got a huge financial winwin you will pay lower taxes but you also pay less for nearly everything like housing for example in this city you can buy an elegant three room apartment with 100 square meters more than 1,000 square ft for € 133,000 this
is just $140,000 and it's located in a calm but still very central part of the town so you can buy a nice home for half of the price of the US in probably the most Beautiful country in the world and still pay low taxes mind-blowing but if you're worried about the fact that caputos has just uh 15,6 five residents here is another good news despite its size Caputo is very well connected the proximity to body ensures that you are never far from Urban amenities but offers all the need INF structure from International Healthcare facilities and
shopping centers to theaters and restaurants it's also a travel Hub with an international airport and a busy Port that open up countless possibilities for trips around Italy and Beyond and when you are in the mood for a day by the Sea stunning destinations like panare and Monopoly are nearby these picturesk towns with their dramatic Cliffs and crystal clear waters make it for a memorable day trip a pul is the kind of place where life feels uncomplicated yet fulfilling it offers the Tranquility of a small town setting without isolating you from Modern conveniences it is however
very much recommended that you learn some Italian which is a relatively easy language to learn so not a big problem what if I told you that you can have a high quality of life in some of the most beautiful places in the world while pay up to 72% Less in terms of cost of living sounds absurd well it's not it's actually very very real and I saw it myself but here's a question for you on a scale of 0 to 10 how much would you like to have all that and also pay lower income taxes
if your answer is anything About five keep watching but it's claimer if you love big cities this video is not for you for all these benefits you must forget the hustle of the Metropolis traffic jams crime expensive rent you don't need that nobody does at least nobody who is going for retirement abroad because big cities are to work not to enjoy life at a low cost today I'll share the name of 15 cities where you can find kind neighbors quiet mornings and prices so small that you check again because it looks like they left off
a zero but these places promise more than just cheaper living they allow a lifestyle that makes you live longer and healthier a life you love we start with b says in France this is a small town is Sovereign France with around 19,000 residents surrounded by Vineyards that maintain its wine make traditions as you probably know from one of the previous videos about France there are two great advantages of this country the first is the fact fact that Americans have a special tax agreement that is extremely beneficial with France exempting then from income taxes in many
cases the second is that despite recent criticisms the French healthc care system is still among the best in Europe in B Su says despite its small size public Healthcare is available at the C Hospital Su says but even if you need some other treatment you are less than 35 minutes away from Avon a larger City with bigger Hospitals and Clinics additionally less than one hour and a Half are two other large FR cities Monier and marade has you also know from some of our previous videos lately France has had some issues with violence especially in
large cities like Paris and Mar but this not the case in B say it's a very safe town in the entire year of 2023 for example this French Town had just 10 robberies and all of them were without the use of a weapon in bigger cities a single Street might witness more robberies than that so there is no reason to worry about safety B say the town is well served by many buses and trains that connected to Avenue and from there you can travel to anywhere in France despite being a bit more Inland whenu says
it still has some of the wonderful Mediterranean climate average temperatures range from 5 Celsius 4 41 F in January to 218 celsi 82 Fahrenheit in July there are rly 200 50 c days each year and humidi is average 60% making the climate generally Pleasant for outdoor activities and now the best part housing is very affordable in this French town with Apartments often rented for under 600 a month you can even find an apartment in the town central location for €430 just $450 per month that is an amazing price to Li a city fames for its
quietness safety and wine making from France we jump to Spain because this list of the 15 best cities to reti in Europe is ordered alphabetically not by ranking Except for the last two cities which are treated separately due to their unique qualities but to arrive at then first we need to talk about the next city in our list daa daa is a coastal town in Spain's costablanca with about 42,000 residents costablanca is an area that enjoys plenty of sunshine and the most famous city is probably alante Denny specifically is renowned for its fresh seafood particularly
red bronze despite its size the city hosts one of the best private hospitals in the entire region the AA Hospital San Carlos they have one of the best reviewed Cardiology departments in this part of Spain talking about infrastructure public transport is reliable at least by Spanish standards with buses and trains connecting daa to nearby cities like benor and alante and by now may you think that Dana is a pricey option since it is closed to beny dor and alikante two places that got expensive lately due to the high influx of British expats however the leing
costs are still low in daa and it's quite common to find apartments or detached houses for 650 per month or less like this beautiful two-bedroom flat with a SE and parking included now one disclaimer here is that we are talking about the costablanca in Spain and that means Summers can be busy with tourists especially around the beaches some supermarkets and restaurants car more to Brits which might feel less genuine and also Summers might be very hot so be aware of that however this is one of these places Where there is never truly winter even during
January the temperature is pleasant during the day and then you have no crowds of tourists and the city looks so peaceful and since we are talking about peaceful cities the next one despite being bigger than daa is more peaceful year round probably due to the absence of drunk British tourists it's EV in Portugal and by the way if you have been to EV or to any SE on this list let me know what you think about them in the comment section the best opinion will win a special gift this is a historic City in the
Portuguese Countryside with about 57,000 inhabitants maybe you never he about aoda but this city is a UNESCO world heritage site riching culture and landmarks including the capella do sosus a Chapel decorated with human bones it's a very affordable City with monthly expenses typically below €1,600 for everything to live comfortably in not many European cities this is possible nowadays in AA the options for renting are a bit limited but if instead you want to buy a property this city has plent of good opportunities like this lovely 112 square meter apartment for Less €50,000 in a building
that looks like those from the city where I was born and those buildings are made to last believe me public transportation makes traveling to Lisbon easy multiple daily trains make the entire trip in just 1 hour and 20 minutes and it cost just summer temperatures in AA can reach well above 30° C it's known for Su to be The hottest city in Portugal during winter however the city has mild weather averaging 10° C 50 F the region where a is located called alento enjoys over 2,800 hours of sunshine annually so it has a pleasant climate
year round and about safety well Portugal is one of the safest countries in Europe the safest continent in the world so there is nothing to worry about here in summary EV is one of the few cities that offers the commonness of the countryside but it's close enough to a large city like Lisbon for a day trip if you get bored the next city is very different from AA it has a more complicated language than Portuguese it's also quite windy and it's on the other side of Europe yet we have some very good reasons to include
this city in this list but before I review it I would like to ask ASO favor if you enjoy this episode please hit the like And subscribe buttons so I'm talking about coper in lovenia a port city on the Adriatic Coast with around 25,000 residents which combin with historical charm and a high quality of life it's just at the border of Slovenian Italy so the closest Big City to Copper is not in lovenia but in Italy triesta which is last than a half an hour away curiously a local told us that many Italians cross the
border and visit copper to buy things like construction materials or to fool their cars because it's cheaper in terms of healthcare the needs of copper residents are met by the General Hospital Isola located just six kilm from downtown and known for its Quality services and modern facilities transportation in Copper is efficient with buzz and train connections to lublana and triesta Winters are cooler than typal Mediterranean climates with average temperatures around 5° 41 fenit and summers are mild averaging 24 Cel 75 fit the problem is not much the weather but the wind because of the famous
B it's a catabatic wind that descends from the Alps to the Adriatic Coast with significant Forest sometimes reaching hurricane speed of over 200 km per hour the B is characterized by its ability to rapidly lower temperatures and it's well known for its sudden on set and ferocity but if you're okay with that copper has also some very good characteristics particularly if you love fine architecture like me a notable feature of copper is its Venetian Gothic architecture in the old town reflect its Rich history under venan rot the cost of living is reasonable especially considering that
copper is so close to the richest part of Italy something that technically would push the prices up yet you can find apartments for as low as 600 EUR per month but the next city is even cheaper and is located in a country that was already mentioned in this list Lagos in Portugal located in the famous algar region a region some residents complain that no longer very Portuguese due to the tremendous influx of British but maybe that just banter Lago is a coastal town with about 31,000 residents that offers a lifestyle that combines Natural Beauty with
modern conveniences Beyond its natural beauty and essential amenities Lagos provides several unique features that make it an attractive destination for those looking to retire in Europe first of all it's a city with a considerable exped community so many doctors clinics and other service providers can speak English talking about Healthcare those requiring more advanced treatments nearby all hospitals in portimo are easily accessible just 30 minutes away the weathery Lagos is one of the most attractive features for rares summers are warm with average temperatures ranging from 25 Cel to 30 C and Winters are mild with temperatures
between 10 cels and 16 Cel the snow is virtually non-existent Portuguese people are lovely and very social although during summer you might not see many Portuguese around one of lago's downside is that during Peak T season it becomes quite busy especially around its cobblestone streets and it's not the cheapest City in Portugal in a few minutes you discover a much cheaper one but Lagos it still has a good price for what it offers and you can find good located apartments for €750 or less like this flat with a swimming pool access available for just 670
per month if you're watching this video you probably planning to move abroad to save money and pay less taxes I wrote three bestselling books on living abroad based on my experiences and from hundreds who have done the same find the link in the comment section and in the description by subscribing to Tire two or three on my patreon you receive these ebooks and help decide the names for future videos now from Lagos We jump to the next name in our top 15 a city that also starts with L but is located in another country and
it's much smaller Liu this is a small town in South France with approximate at Le 10,000 residents it's ideal for those who prefer quiet Countryside living in a relaxed pace a unique aspect of Limu is its production of blanid Limu the world's oldest sparkling wine which predates champagne wine enthusiasts we appreciate the local varieties in the town's long-standing tradition of wine making the town has reliable healthare through the cuk which offers a wide range of Medical Services Transportation options include Regional buses and trains that connect Liu to Kasson and other nearby cities the closest large
cities to lose just 100 kilm away if you're scared about the increasing violence in France that does not apply to Limu it's a very safe town the polar opposite of marcelio s summers in are also Pleasant averaging 24 de C and Winters are cool but not freezing at around 60 de C the cost of living is low groceries utilities and dining out are reasonably said local farmers market offer fresh produce at affordable rates allowing residents to maintain a healthy and cost- effective diet but the best thing about Limu is how affordable is housing there we
are talking about a city where you can rent a two-bedroom house for just € 560 if you prefer to live in an Apartment you'll find options below 400 even for Countryside France this is considered a very good price it's important to have mind however that to socialize with the locals you must you absolutely must learn French yes there are some people there who speak English but they are a minority the good news is that learning French is not that difficult and once you start to speak it your life will be so much better the difference
in your daily interactions with the locals is mind-blowing in the comment section I put the link for a very effective software that I use to learn languages from Liu we jump to the next city and you might be curious because so far we haven't mentioned any city in Italy a country that in previous videos we put on pair with Greece as the best destination to retire in Europe the reason we didn't mention any city in Italy is because coincidentally the three Italian towns on this list are all one after the other in alphabetic order and
it starting now the first one is lri lri is a Charming coastal town in calabri Italy with a population of around 12,000 situated along the Yan sea it offers a peaceful environment rich in history and natural surroundings transportation in lri is straightforward the town is 1 hour and a half from the closest major city Rio Calabria which also has an airport the town has a friendly Community atmosphere typ of South Italy with numerous local festivals markets and healthy culinary Traditions it's the kind of place in South Italy that moves at a relaxed pace which means
fewer job opportunities but also a quieter atmosphere especially during the offseason the summers are warm averaging 27 but remember this is an average and on certain days it might go well above 30 Celsius perfect for enjoying the beaches and Leos remember that Loi is a small Italian Town therefore there is a language barrier so if anyone moving there should learn Italian for that check the link I left in the description one of Locker's main attractions is its affordability monthly rent for a comfortable apartment typically stays well below 500 options range from modern apartments in the
Town Center to traditional ston houses in quieter neighborhoods many homes come with balconies or small gardens providing PL and outdoor spaces to enjoy the mild climate and scanic Views I found this enchanting detached house for just €350 in a central area of Loy other expenses such as groceries and utilities are also lower in calabia when compared to other parts of Italy loer is known for its delicious Cuisine which features fresh seafood handmade pasta dishes like macaroon and local wine such as bongi but wait there is another huge benefit of Lo the very attractive special tax
regime for new residents in southern Italy the Italian government has implemented a unique tax incentive to attract individuals with income from abroad to living cities with less than 20,000 residents in southord Italy under this scheme qualifying residents only pay a 7% income tax on their their foreign ear income to take advantage of this opportunity applicants must meet Specific criteria such as proving their foreign income sources and committing to residing locally for a minimum period the special tax scheme offers a good reason to make this charming Town your new home and that is also the case
for the next town on our list and remember let me know in the comments which city intrigues you the most pooto pooto is a town in the basilicata region of South Italy it has a population of about 177,000 and has medieval roots and developed country after land reclamation forest in the mid 20th century leading to increased population and Municipal autonomy pooto has a Mediterranean climate with mild Winters and hot dry Summers temperatures in July can reach around 37 degrees celsus during the day sometimes even more with manageable humidity thanks to sea breezes Winters are mild
around 9 Celsius allowing for year round outo activities like visiting the parino polyot is quieter compared to larger coastal cities and offers a peaceful environment for those who prefer a low-key lifestyle but the area is still rich in cultural festivals and traditions providing a nice Community atmosphere the biggest downside is that it's a bit far from other major Urban centers and the closest major city Tanto around 1 hour away the cost of living is very affordable and local markets provide fresh seafood and produce at affordable prices make it easier to live within a budget despite
being a senic Beach Town the cost of housing po Coto is surprisingly low you can rent a penthouse for just €450 per month and it has a nice and spacious to race if these Good prices for housing are not enough keep in mind that pooto has just 177,000 residents so it's below the magic number of 20,000 that means if you decide to live there you can benefit from the special tax regime for new residents in the small cities and towns in southern Italy and pay just a 7% flat income tax rate one of the lowest
tax rates in entire Europe given such benefits it's not surprising that the next city in our list is also in Italy sapri this is a small SE side town in the province of salero in the compania region of sou Italy its beaches face the terranean sea and it has around 6,500 residents the town is situated on this beautiful Gulf known for its clear water and sandy beaches which have received a blue flag award for Environmental Quality since 1995 the town features a senic l sea front prominade which features the statue of the ppri inspired by
a 19th century poem The lar is also lined with bars and restaurants perfect for lury walks and to enjoy local Cuisine Healthcare is accessible at the hospitality lii which is a surprisingly large hospital for such a small town they have particularly good reviews of their emergency services so congratulations to the nurses and doctors of their ER one of the down size of sa is that of all the towns and cities we listed so far probably it's one of the most isolated the closest large city is Naples which is 200 kilm away or around 2 hours
and a half by car Fortunately multiple daily trains connect sep to Naples in less than two hours this distance from major cities however also brings a positive aspect differently from many talian coastal cities sap is not saturated by tourism during the high season there are some visitors of course it's a beautiful town but it's not crowded like postano or Amalfi and this has multiple benefits first is that Sapp is very authentic including their food the compan cuisine is present there with numerous tratas serving fresh seafood and Regional dishes during local festivals traditional dishes are highlighted
and local markets offer fresh and expensive produce helping residents maintain a budget friendly lifestyle another benefits that housing costs are low quite low for a coastal town in CA there are not many options for rent since it's a small town but if you want to buy a place there you can purchase a two room flat in the Via mangelo Bueno in the heart of the city with Splendid views and the beach nearby for just 130,000 on the other hand this town's peaceful atmosphere may feel too quiet for some especially outside the B summer months when
cultural events slow down due to its small population sappi also qualifies for this special tax regime minia said 7% flat income tax rate instead of normal tax a great incentive for whoever thinks of retirement in Italy remember since sa is a very authentic Italian coastal town its inhabitants are very authentic so learn some Italian to be able to socialize with them living Italy for now and back to Portugal the next city is Tavira it's A town in Portugal's AR gar region with around 27,000 residents is increasingly becoming a hot destination for foreigners considering retirement abroad
Tava has a Mediterranean climate with approximately 300 days of sunshine annually making it ideal for outdoor activities in a relaxed lifestyle nearby attractions include the H hi fora natural park and standing beaches like Cella Valia one of the most remarkable things about Tava is that 1/4 of its population consists of expatriates and this community Fosters a welcoming atmosphere make it easier for newcomers to adapt another positive aspect is that it's very well connected since just 30 minutes from the fu airport where you can take a flight to multiple Capitals in Europe ryion Air flies to
this airport by the way so Chip flights are very much available don't let tavid is small size fool you despite having less than 30,000 residents it's a very Lively town with markets and festivals that enhance Community Life the mer Municipal is popular for fresh produce and local Goods on the downside Alo tavid is less touristic than other out of the Cities seasonal tourism can still affect local amenities and prices during Peak Seasons oh and Portugal has also getting a bit more restrict lately regarding tax incentives for xats but this is a matter for another video
so if you want me to take a to make a video on this subject let me know in the comment section we arrive now at the letter V nearing the least end so we'll reveal two unique cities out of order due to their immense peculiarity so keep watching with the Letter V the next town among the best small cities to in Europe is vbo in Italy vbo is a city in central Italy with about 67,000 residents it is often referred to as the city of popes because it served as a Papo residence during the 13th
century situated about 8 kilometers north of Rome and less than an hour from the Mediterranean Coast PBO is ideal for those who prefer to live in a smaller City but not far from Big Urban centers the compact size of the table makes it easy to navigate on food fostering assess of community and encouraging an active lifestyle summers are mild around 23° C Winters are cooler averaging 5° C and the city's historic cobstone streets may be challenging for those with mobility issues the average cost of living with tble is approximately € 1,287 per month which is
competitive compared to other Italian cities and a two room apartment in the city center cost around 550 which is remarkably good considering that thebo is located in the province of Lazio one of the five most expensive in Italy the next in our list of the best small European cities to retire is chavia or Hava in Spain chavia is another town in the Costa Blanc of Spain and has around 28,000 residents it offers a blend of natural beauty and relaxed living and has a mild Mediterranean climate with over 300 days of sunshine per year the town
is surrounded by breathtaking Landscapes and has several beautiful beaches such As lagar a and Aral perfect for swimming and S Bing some people may find shabia too tranquil if they prefer a more vibrant Urban environment but if you want a laidback relaxed town this might be a good choice however during Peak tourist season the town can become crowded not as crowded as benador but still might cause some Q at the local market rental prices in shabia are affordable especially during the off peak season you can find an apartment with a SE viw for less than
€700 like this one imagine open the window of your room in the morning and having that view a view that is only matched by what you can have in the next city in our list one of the two cities that I decid to put out of the alphabetic order due to its immense peculiarity I'm talking about reimo on the island of crit in Greece reimo is a delightful coastal city the island of creed with approximately 35,000 residents it has a Mediterranean climate with hot summers and Mild Winters allowing for yearr round outdoor activities and a
generally active lifestyle together with this pled Greek cuisine the best in the world in my opinion this climate probably explains why cretans live healthy and long lives they are among the longevity champions in the world a key landmark in reimo is the Venetian fortesa a fortress overlooking the harbor this historic structure showcases the city's Bland of Venetian and keton influences talking about infrastructure Transportation there is a straightforward with a Dependable bus Network to larger ketan cities like haa and aracleon and also Fair connections to other Greek island and the mainland the city has a university
so due to the presence of a large number of students it's quite Lively even during the off season the cost of living in rimo is relatively low compared to other European cities housing groceries and dining out are affordable but during the PE through season prices may rise and windy days along the coast can sometimes disrupt outdoor activities yet the climate remains Pleasant year round with summer temperatures around 27° C 81 fah and Winters averaging 12° cels 54 fhe however two characteristics of raimo make it a very attractive place to retire in Europe the forest is
the lower taxes rares who become tax residents in Greece can enjoy a flat income tax rate of only 7% on foreign soured income and this rate applies for up to 15 years this is one of the lowest income tax rates possible for expat retire in Europe in many European countries the income tax rate for foreign pensions are well above 20% the second incredibly good aspect of this place is that the cost of living in the areas immediately surrounding artimo is much lower than in the city itself while still having access to all the C amenities
this happens because the presence of students Inflates the housing prices in reimo so a bit farther from the city and from the University prices are much lower nearby Gori just 25 minutes fromo you can find a one bedroom apartment to rent for just €350 per month less than $370 in many American cities this is the price to rent a parking space not an apartment if the prices of Theo impressed you wait until the last City on our list which starts with an S and talking about Chaka a Charming coastal town with less than 40,000 residents
located on the southurn coast in Sicily Italy known for its extremely natural beauty and very low costs there can buy a spatial five room apartment with a SE for just €70,000 honestly I don't know any other play place in Western Europe with such low costs like this specific part of Italy call it the province of agrigento there is why together with a local resident I decided to do an entire video about Agri gental Province you can check it by clicking on this video here at your left and be ready to see how a noble Mansion
