Knitted pants for newborns, easy to sew. Hello friends. Today I will explain to you, how to make these baby pants.
I made a size for newborns (NB), very small, with these details on purl cords, on the legs and also on the crotch, to make sewing easier later. For these pants I used wool More Baby brand, but it can be any other wool. The Tex is 200.
To make the hem, I used needles NR. 3 to make it fitted and the rest of the pants with 3. 5 needles.
Whoever wants it bigger, just change the needles to size 4 or 4. 5 and make more rows along the length, following the drawing of the sides, making more drawings. And now, let's go to the explanatory video.
To start with the pants, I'm going to cast on 34 stitches on needle number 3. After casting on 34 stitches on the needle, I will make 1x1 rib stitches. I purl 1, knit 1, In the first row I'm going to pick up the knit stitch inside, to make it easier.
It's the twisted knit stitch. After that we make it another way. purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1 and we continue like this, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1.
. . until the end of the row.
I finished the first row of 1x1 ribs. Now I'm going to make the second row also in 1x1 ribs stitches. Then I purl 1, knit 1, now the knit stitch can be picked up from the front here, which is easier.
purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1 and we follow making like this, purling 1, knitting 1, purling 1, knitting 1, back and forth, until completing 11 rows. I made 11 rows in 1x1 ribs. Now, on the wrong side of the work, we'll make a row of increases.
And now I'm going to change the needles, for NR. 3. 5.
So I purl 3, 1 increase, for this increase, I twist the yarn like this, like the letter "e" and put it on the needle. Again I purl 3 and increase 1. purl 3, increase 1.
And I'll follow like this purl 3, increase 1, purl 3, increase 1, until the end of the row. Reaching the end of the row purling 3, increasing 1 and purling 1. After these increases, totaled 45 stitches on the needle.
And now I'm going to work only with needles NR. 3. 5.
And this first row, I will purl 2, knit 17 stitches, 1, 2, 16, 17. So continuing I purl 2, knit 3 stitches, purl 2, knit 17 stitches, 1, 2, 3, 15, 16 and 17. I finish the row with 2 purls.
I will list these rows, because we will sequence them, repeating them. So, this was the first row. The second row, I'll make it on the wrong side of the work, all in purl stitches.
I finished the second row of the wrong side, in purl, Now on the right side of the work, again I purl 2, knit 17 stitches, 1, 2, 3, 16, 17. Then I purl 2, and in these 3 knits, I'm going to make them differently. I will pass the yarn over, purl 3 stitches together, yarn over, and purl 2.
And continuing, I knit 17, 1, 2, 16, 17 and to finish I purl 2. Fourth row, all in purl. Finishing the fourth row, on the wrong side in purl.
Next row, we'll make as the first row. So we'll make the first, second, third and fourth row. I leave the sequence written here above the video and you continue making that, until forming ten drawings, here in the center of the work.
So guys, I completed ten drawings, formed in the work center. In total, 40 rows. And from here, I'm going to make one more stitch, to define the crotch of the legs.
Then it will get separated, so we can see it when it's time to sew. So I'm going to give a twist like this and I put it here, increasing one more stitch. And now I make the same as I made before.
I purl 2, knit 18 stitches, before it was 17, how did I increase one there will be 18 knit stitches. 1, 2, 17, 18. And here in the center we continue with these stitches now I'll purl 2, knit 3 stitches, purl 2, knit 18 stitches, 1, 2, 17, 18 and I will finish purling 2 too.
So there is 1 purl, I purl it and increase one more purl. I can catch down here even or to place it in the same way as we did at the beginning. But doing like this also gives the same effect.
I place it here and purl it with the bottom stitch. And then, on the wrong side of the work, we make the entire row in purl. We return to the right side of work and continue with purl 2, knit 18 stitches and follow this center design, with those 4 rows from the beginning that will now be purl 2, yarn over, purl 3 stitches together, yarn over, purl 2, knit 18 and purl 2.
And we follow like this, until completing 9 more drawings in the center. Totaling so, 19 drawings. I completed 19 drawings.
Here's that little step we made, between the end of the leg and the beginning of the crotch. It is like this. And now, let's reserve these stitches on a stitch holder and make a second leg the same.
Let me show you the first leg, reserved on the stitch holder. I made the second leg of the pants. And now I'm going to join the two parts together, to continue making the waist part of the pants.
So, I have to put the work in the same direction. Front with front. And now I'm going to unite the two parts.
I check that both parts are in the same direction. I'm going to cut this yarn by about 2 spans, so I can use it later for sewing. And we're going to carry these stitches from the safety pin, onto this needle as well.
So I'm just bringing the stitches here, to get them all together. Then there are 94 stitches left on the needle. I'm going to tie the yarn on the ball again, to continue making 1x1 rib stitches.
I tied the yarn at the beginning of the work. And now let's make 1x1 ribs, purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1 and I continue with purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, until the end of the row. And I'll return making rows in 1x1 ribs stitches, until completing 5 rows.
After that I'll explain how to make the eyelet row. After finishing 5 rows in 1x1 ribs, I'm going to make a eyelet row. So I purl 1, purl 2 stitches together and I pass the yarn over.
Then continuing, I purl 2 stitches together, yarn over, purl 2 stitches together, yarn over, purl 2 stitches together, yarn over, and I keep on that purl 2 stitches together, a yarn over, until the end of the row. Reaching the end of the row, I finish purling 2 stitches together, yarn over, and purl 1. So this eyelet row looks like this.
And I follow making again, 5 rows in 1x1 ribs. I purl 1, knit 1, until the end of the row. And we continue until completing 5 rows in 1x1 ribs again.
I made 5 more rows of 1x1 ribs. Now we'll cast off the stitches as they present themselves. The first stitch is purl the second stitch is in knit and I pass the one behind, over what I just did.
Next is purl, I purl it and I pass the one behind, over what I just did. The next one is in knit, I knit it and I pass the one behind, over what I just did. And I follow casting off like this, until the end of the row.
I cast off all stitches, there was one left. Then I pass it inside. And I left the yarn very long, to use for the seams.
And now we'll sew the pants. I say it's easy to sew, because on this edge with 2 purl stitches that we made, one side and the other are clearly visible, so we can sew. I already had the yarn here, if you don't have a very long yarn, put one on so you can sew this part.
So I come at the stitch on this side, where this strap is formed and I come to the corresponding stitch on this side. And I follow sewing. Without tightening it.
Just touching them like this, so as not to pucker the work. And we follow down the seam. Strap by strap.
Getting to the end, we follow as far as there's this little step we made, to separate the crotch from the legs. And we can leave this yarn to finish off later. Then, we will sew the seam on the back too.
There's already the yarn here at the end of the cast off. Then I sew on this side and that other side, to keep the parts quite together. And let's sew this part of the hem, taking it from aside like this, right at the edge.
On one side and the other. Going down with the seam. Adjusting well, so as not to misalign the parts.
Comparing here, to see if it is all right. And here we get at those corresponding stitches, so we can keep making taking it from one side and the other on that two stitches edge, that we made in purl. In this strap and the next one, on the other side.
Without tightening it. And we follow down the seam until reaching this little step we made to the pants crotch. And we're going to get here.
So guys, I sewed to the limit. I'll leave this yarn to cast off it later. And now, we'll make the same, from bottom to top.
We place this yarn and we'll make the same thing as we did in this part of the waist. And we go up, taking the corresponding stitches on one side and the other. We go around and then, in this part, we start from the bottom up to make the cast off about the middle of the work, so that it is not visible.
So guys, I started sewing from the hem upwards and here we will also sew from the hem upwards. Right in the center, let's make sure one side is aligned with the other. And here, as I don't have the stitches to pick up, we take it from the side, where there are firm stitches.
We catch it here on this side and we'll closing this part too. Right in the center of the crotch. Trying to pick up the right stitches, to avoid holes in that part.
And we continue like this, until reaching these stitches again, that correspond with each other, on those two-stitches edges. Then, we give it a stretch like this, so it doesn't pucker. And now I'm going to take it from the hem and follow the seam to cast off it nearly this area of the pants, so that our cast off doesn't appear.
After sewing the entire pants on the wrong side of the work, remain these loose yarns. Then, we will use a hand needle or a crochet hook to pick to pick up these yarns, bringing them between the stitches like this. Between the seams.
In order to cast off these yarns. So I'm going to bring it as far as possible, like this. So, at some point, I make it smaller and divide it, to make a very small knot.
I usually make it like this. I split the wire in two and I pass a yarn through one of the straps. Then we can tie the knot.
I tie it like this three times to be very firm. And then we can cut it quite close. If you want, you can add a little fabric glue like this, just a little.
This helps prevent untie the knot And we will make that with all the loose yarns from the work. I sewed all the pants. I passed a tape.
And now I'm going to give you the measurements. Length, 28 centimeters. Width, 20 centimeters.
Crotch length, 12 centimeters. Leg length, 16 centimeters. Leg width, 10 centimeters.
So that's it guys, I hope you enjoy it and good work everyone.
